i was really hyped about it and bought it day one.
feels terrible to play. quickturn was just-frame in the demo. you can get softlock stuck because some camera angles are terrible. hitboxes are awful, i never missed this many bullets in my life before and i'm really good at RE3. puzzles are terrible. the atmosphere doesn't look good. and eventually all of that piled up somewhere after the first boss and i just dropped it.
which is a real shame because it looked so much fun. collecting gears as currency to buy weapons. being able to buy costumes with passive abilities. having dolls/mannequins as enemies instead of generic zombies. i really wanted to love it but it just didn't click

i hear this all the time when discussing PSOne-style RE clones. i'm begging you, just try RE3 again and spend a few minutes to take in how the movement and pacing feels. how you can super fluently slip through enemies. try dodging (by moving, not the actual dodge mechanic) Nemesis for some seconds. being a PSOne-style game really isn't an excuse for clunky controls.
I enjoyed it. The backgrounds particularly scratched an RE1 itch I didn't really know I had. It's not amazing but one of the better indie RE clones. Beat it three times I think
I liked it, and looking forward to the DLC or next thing in the works. Not only that but I didn't swallow my toothpick

I agree with the other anon psx clones are done to death, copying ps2 graphics is a bit more rare and therefore will go towards making your game seem more unique in the current market.

There’s really no point in PSX style if you can’t have the soulful pre-rendered backgrounds. Plus if you ever finish the PSX nostalgia well will probably have already dried up if it hasn’t already.

There were like 15 really good survival horror games release back in the day.
Basically Dino Crisis, Silent Hill 1-4, Resident Evil 1-3, REmake, Haunting Ground and Fatal Frame 1-3.
Everything else was kind of shit. Compare that to the amount of FPS games that still get released every year and it's a drop in the bucket.

RE never factored in for me, it was never a remotely scary series, and all the PS1-era horror games were surpassed by something that came out the following generation, and then died completely when that gen was over. Silent Hill turned to dogshit, RE became more action-heavy than every before, Fatal Frame turned into waifu games, that Siren remake was meh, etc.
But regardless you're better off playing any of those PS2 games in comparison to any "inspired by classic survival horror" game
