I've been playing it and I gotta say I kind of regret resubbing. They didn't cook with this one and all of my ERP partners are still not back to playing. I tried to meet new people and most people seemed burnt out and considering quitting even in the ERP scene which is fucked and the first time I've ever seen such a thing happen. These people are supposed to be die-hard supporters of this game and even they're unhappy.

Get a group and chain mobs. with some decent set ups mob chains should give decent XP along with the gold coins. Fate/CE train is better if you don't have the jobs yet or don't have a good group

I'm getting my Final Fantasy story from Exp 33. TIny indie studio in comparison to SE yet their story, characters are game is so far superior to Dawntrail it's incredible. The funny thing is I guarantee that Dawntrail will have used a far bigger budget than what took to make Exp 33.
I think the time of MMOs is done, waiting years and years for actual content in the game and hoping the story is good is not what I'm willing to do anymore.

Why wouldn't it be on Freelancer, it's an extremely powerful ability unlocked by maxing out five jobs, you can self-heal above and beyond the tanks with it no matter your job. The only way you're gonna die with that Freelancer action is getting one-tapped, by vuln up stack overflow or by actual mechanics.

As it is right now, assuming that you could only take the abilities and not the traits themselves, Freelancer would only be usable as a utility janny. Staying on main knight, monk or cannoneer would be better in all other circumstances.

And only two or three people per group would really need it, so assuming freelancer has... let's be generous and say three slots for cross-class abilities, you're losing a third of your customisation for janitorial duties. OR you could just play a main chemist and do the rest of the janitorial duties with your potions, ethers, and elixirs.

If Freelancer ever gets to mix and match skills it'll be all jobs mastered in my opinion, which is a completely fucking insane grind in the vein of +2 elemental gear and nothing you have to do in Occult Crescent matters anymore and you're there for loot or fun Also we're on the same page, free-mix skills are bad for Depth And Complexity in an MMO context

If you want to use the 3 cross class limit freelancer argument, you can use 2 cannons and 1 oracle ability which is stronger though.

Ninja adds a little bit of extra potency to it, but it doesn't inherit the properties of the "scales with item level" effects. Viper and Samurai increase the damage by a percentage which will work out better in most circumstances.

Would help a bit, but rather than having a consistent ~25s cd nuke window, you'd have a misaligned 25s/60s window. Overall damage would be better but if you're going all in on offense there, substituting a cannon for starfall would mean you'd need a plan to cover for the self damage. Spending 3 gcds healing back up with the freelancer self heal works out badly, overall you're losing damage that you would've gained by swapping out a cannon.
In summary - might be better, but would be well within the realm of reasonable power boosts.

It feels like some steps forward were made but in some cases a step back or outright many steps back. Honestly it feels a bit like a Bozja 0.75 overall.

Problems from Eureka return that were solved in Bozja, Occult quests are somehow a fair margin worse than Eureka's, the CEs are pretty good and some of them are surprisingly spicy.
Whether it's good or bad, I'm not sure, but roles are heavily cemented in Occult over Bozja, you won't be playing green DPS, blue DPS, red Tank, or anything particularly doofy unless it's built directly into the subjob.
On the flipside because you can't do wild changes to what your job can and cannot do, you can swap out jobs and sub jobs anywhere on the map without issue now.

Hard BA or possibly even DRS in the form of BA is back, in an almost identical format so all the old annoying aggravations are here with it except Ovni. Entry, instances, having to discord with those filthy trannies, ect...
No CLL or Dalriada type of in instance end raids where you can pug it and have a (reasonable) chance of success, it's just the new BA and or DRS formed BA. Unfortunate, especially no queuing into it from outside.

Save for the challenge XP (and gold coinage) grinding chain mobs like Eureka is...not good, particularly at low subjob as a red job. Especially compared to doing 1 fate and then 1 CE to level instead since you rarely ever have time to do anything outside of those with all the required running around.
I'm still not entirely sure if most CEs are spawned by killing X amount of mobs or if it's just a couple but if that's how it works you can expect in a few weeks for 75% of the players to AFK in spawn while other people do the spawning since the CE's themselves have timers, so the people whom did spawn it can't just kill it instantly since they did all the work.

If you have any intention of coming back to do the Foray, I would recommend doing it sooner (now-ish) because it's going to empty out in the not too distant future.

Knowledge lv18. Mastered Bard, working on Time Mage now. Bought the three jobs bought with silver tokens, none of the three gold-bought ones, got Ranger as a random drop. No clue what the requirements for entering the Tower are yet, but I'd imagine I need at least max knowledge lv for that, and some of the party members entering should be Time Mages (for Dispel) and Chemist (for rez).

I honestly kinda hate that Forked Tower doesn't have a casual version. It means i have nothing to build towards as a casual player by playing occult crescent. I really loved the raids we got in Bozja (to the point where i've been asking for years for them to be adapted into regular gameplay and added to the raid roulette), but this time around there's just nothing. Would it really have killed them to make a easy version for everyone? I don't even need it to have a reward, i just wish it existed

Perfectly put, it’s perfectly fine content that is a small step in some ways from bozja but because it’s been fucking YEARS it needed to be a lot more.

It doesn't seem too difficult, just punishing and new.
