PS2 library

PS2 has a massive library filled with good games that have flown under the radar...what are your favorite PS2 titles that don't get enough praise?

dude this mediocre garbage is actually great!

Samurai Western

Chaos Legion was pretty cool desu

Based. Its extremely underrated.

Astral Chain massively ripped off Chaos Legion and thats why its a good game.

Its the best, I hate that the genre no longer exists

I bought this game as a kid because I liked the cover but could never beat the game because it was too hard for me.

A lot of fondly remembered PS2 games fucking sucked but we played them as children and thus hold them in high regard. But they were and are literal shit games.

This and Excel Saga are the only reason I know that Visual Kei is a thing. The concerts are so much fun and smell like 18 jap girl pussy sweat.

Loved this game, a bit flawed but the coolest shit when I was 12

There was a CFB 26 thread earlier today. This is the GOATed sports game of the PS2 era.

Best Soundtrack
Best Gameplay
Had the FCS
Fun collectables in pennants
Race for the Heisman had you get a noticeably hotter girlfriend the more on field success you had
The base roster had some absolute legends in Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Calvin Johnson, Marshawn Lynch, Adrian Peterson, Devin Hester

I can never remember if it was 06/07/08 but impact players were somewhat busted. If that LB/DLs reticle is flashing he's about to get a turnover or break my QB's collarbone, but it was always interesting.

no we probably liked them because they were decent games and they looked cool

Also incredibly partial to Hot Shots Golf 4. I have probably hundreds of hours with both this and eventually Everybody's Golf on PS4. Dozens of saved videos of crazy birdies, eagles, pure luck bogeys after pulling a Tin Cup. I think PGA Tour analog stick swing controls are utter shit compared Hot Shots.

No, they sucked. But I agree with you that they looked cool. Games were definitely cooler back then, no argument.

No, they sucked

No they didn't. But i agree games were definitely cooler back then, no argument :)

It does

If this game came out today people would call it woke.

Chaos Legion

Good

Pick one.

in the PS2 era, there were many PC ports, and that was the real definition of a port: one exe file, and one bit .dat file, that was it, not much more effort
nowadays they call ports games that are obviously not a port, just a recompiled version for PC on UE, etc., and can be modded etc

Steambot Chronicles and Metal Saga.

Yeah this game was really ambitious and it's crazy that no one has tried to iterate further on the great ideas it has

Grandia Xtreme

MS Saga: A New Dawn

people are talking about the game I recommended many years ago

You are doing god's work. Spread the good word.

Oh hell yeah.

Onimusha. Came out early in the PS2’s lifespan, and was completely overshadowed by Devil May Cry.

I just replayed Warlords yesterday, and goddamn, do I ever love that game, enough that I immediately bought 2 on Steam.

I still have my copy, signed by character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto. (Better known for Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain)
I finally got around to beating this on hard mode a few years ago. Absolute kino.

Toku games on the PS2 were peak, especially the Ultraman ones. I don't even like the series but they were fun to play and had surprisingly good graphics for its time.

You didn't use the bomb, I loved that game till I decided to do a run without abusing the bomb.
For the topic, does Shinobi count? It's not like you are going to find another action game like it, Nightshade blew the gameplay by making the tates too long.

I remember playing this as a kid. I have super vague memories of it. Wonder if it holds up. Anyway, pic rel. Great RPG with art by the guy who did P3 thru P5 art.

Hoshigami's spiritual Successor. It has similar gameplay so if you enjoy the AP based SRPG, you'll like it.
