Denuvo can cost CPU power and time but whether that affects the game is on a game by game basis since the developers are responsible for integrating it into the game. CPU for the most part isn't a problem, a 5090 can't even saturate a 9800X3D at resolutions where it matters at 1440p and 4k and even 1080p. It's dumb but publishers will keep using it because they feel like they lose out more on not locking the game for the first year of sales or something vs paying the company Denuvo themselves for that lockdown.
