I can't really say for myself since I don't really care for emulating but my brother is some kind of expert in emulation, he has dozens of different devices and portable SSDs with emulation setups, when I asked him how are the raspberry PI for emulating he told me they're decent but too costly for the performance, well, in the end you get a PI for the compatibility and convenience.
