Do games suck now or have I become too old and jaded?
Tell me the truth Anon Babble
Do games suck now or have I become too old and jaded?
Games are just coming out too quickly for anyone to really sit down and form unbiased opinions about them. That's why so many people are jaded, because there's never a moment to decompress and actually assess the quality of new stuff.
both
Jaded
games suck and you're starting to notice it more and more which is dragging your enjoyment down. play old stuff that you couldnt beat when you were a kid or find some new obscure indie titles.
avoid triple A like its a jew selling you a timeshare in gaza
AAA games suck.
There are still good games being made but not by EA or Ubisoft.
if you only play AAA games then yes. you are an idiot and games will suck
Bit of both
triple A games absolutely suck now.
the environment for making games is so bad now that the chance of a game not being shit is very low, and even if the game is not shit, it will always have some shit aspect to it because that's what the market demands.
just stick to retro and indie games
Have you played gay and furry sex simulator?
No
you are a jaded retarded tranny nigger faggot thats lets his opinions be dictated by Anon Babbleermin
You're jaded. The total amount of good games released per year is the same it was 20 years ago.
The new Jedi games are good. The sidescrolling Prince of Persia is good.
Yes, they suck now.
Well that's not very nice
If you're just looking at major releases normies coom over, yeah you're going to be disappointed. Companies figured out brand loyalty trumps common sense in most cases and proceeded to enshittify the industry.
Even still, I've had plenty of fun with games that came out in the 2020s. Fight Knight is peak gaming
No they suck. The games industry isn't made by nerds with incredible imaginations and skillsets who solve problems with interesting outside of the box solutions. Now games are made by a corporate machine that churns out nostalgia bait slop and oversees an activist class of creatives who's primary goal is to tear down everything you think is good and holy and replace it.
You're going to have a bunch of zoomer broccoli haired tardo faggots who use the word "goon" telling you that you're wrong.
Here's an image of some off the best game releases from 1990 until 2010. Ask yourself if anything that's come in the 15 years since compare at all to these masterpieces.
Modern games have little depth.
Games largely suck now, just go back and play some older games, they're still there waiting for you to enjoy.
You know the gay and furry sex is optional anon...
plants vs zombies
Gaming has become the new television. Something you do to turn your brain off after work. The average "gamer" is actively against anything that makes them try to think.
Its a you thing. Im playing two games now that came out this year and am having a great time. No i will not tell you because you'll just shit in them
Yes. Plants vs Zombies is better than Elden Ring. I'm being serious. Fromslop are the epitome of modern trash.
I'm insecure
Just say that next time.
Both.
Both
The industry is worse now but if you're at the point where you don't enjoy ANY new releases then yes you're too jaded.
Im not insecure. Just dont feel like trying to defend every single fucking game i like on here every time i mention any game.
I HAVE to defend it
Yeah, you're insecure
Im afraid both things are true sadly
It's an anonymous board who gives two fucks what people think just name the games hoe
No
There’s an infinite backlog of past games for me to not really care if what’s at the very present is good or bad. The real problem is the growing, gnawing sense that I’m wasting my life away for playing them.
people tend to overrate games from their teens
Both
But you can fix yourself. The games industry tho? Lol. But we have a treasure trove of old games to go through and plenty of people still playing them. So we're not alone.
AAA games suck, the rest are fine or even great.
Also you have access to every good game ever made instead of relying on some retard shop keeper that only buy fifa shit.
I played this on my phone when I was in school, and I thought it was nothing more than a game to play while taking a dump. I'm gonna need you to elaborate on why it's so good
There are more shitty releases than good ones nowadays, and that's what's making you more jaded. Focus more on ignoring live service games and games with MTX, and you can always go back to older games you haven't played before.
I mean look, you’re going to be more scrutinizing than you were as a kid. What’s novel to newer players is going to be old hat to you, or worse, somehow the mechanics have less depth than a game you played twenty years ago. As far as the mainstream goes I don’t think there’s any doubt that it’s become worse. Games cost an ungodly amount of money, more than movies, even. They might take three years at best from start to finish to produce. It can take well over a thousand people from around the world and now there’s former casino types realizing just how lucrative this market is because of having much less regulation and no chance to lose money. And then there’s AI that demands experienced people while simultaneously undercutting their value and experience that they can provide.
On the flip side, the indie scene. It had its issues and trends for sure, and if anything the AI problem could prove more prominent as individual developers don’t wish to be held back by their game’s poor graphics they had to make themselves if they know how to code. But I’m optimistic because there just so much out there. I remember a time when a truly great indie game came out once every two or three years, starting with Cave Story and Braid, then The Binding of Isaac. Now it feels like a notable and well made indie game comes out every month or two months, tops. That’s a huge deal.
Until a law or something comes by that heavily regulates or bans gambling of any kind in games, triple a games will continue to be slop
This. A decade ago a big game could've persisted in public eye for years, now it's basically gone in about two months. So not only you have a constant downpour of new games, any discussion about them is also gone before long, so you can hardly share your experience with others. Eventually it just gets exhausting.
probably jaded but games are in a weird place right now.
AAA games are mostly dogshit right now
AA games are slowly returning
indie games can be good but good luck finding the gem as the market is getting flooded.
pretty bad when i have had more fun with fucking gatcha games than modern AAA.
yesterday I finished chrono trigger anon. The only RPG I played before that was Mario RPG almost 2 decades ago. I mostly play action games and MMO and let me tell you.
Chrono Trigger was a fantastic game that completely reignited my passion for the genre. I couldn't believe how fun it was.
Game were truly, really just better back then.
Oh boy this episode again. Someone will recommend indie games, you're gonna say they're sll shit. Then, they'll say they aren't, you'll ask for examples and, no matter what the other anon recommends, you'll say they're garbage or don't count ect. This argument will go on in circles with plenty of fags, niggers and retards being thrown around until one party gets bored and leaves. Then I guess you'll fap and que into ranked for your 3rd loss today. Fuck this board.
You literally can't convince me that the 6v6 or 5v5 matchmaking slop we have now is better than 16v16 UT2004 Onslaught.
In my experience games are releasing too quickly to really sit down and think about them. Though I agree that a lot of games are being made to farm esports there are still some fun ones being made.
When it comes to modern games I bought Helldivers 2 recently and I have been having fun with it. I found that just like Left 4 Dead 2 it’s a frenetic co-op shooter though its presentation is a lot closer to EDF. The stratagems are a fun part of the game too and remind me of the spells in Magicka since it was made by the same devs. The lower difficulties are a bit boring but playing on super helldive difficulty is fun.
I've been playing bee island. I am not really good at tower defense/colony sims, but I like it.
What said.
The problem is that when games that are decent come out, you are so cynical and burnt from the bad games you refuse to give it the time of day. At the same time games are objectively worse(r) off now. It also depends on the genre. Shooters were the best of times in the 2000s and I'd say blurst of times stupid monkey late 2010s to present day.
are you gonna kys?
Bit of both. They have gotten worse, but you're too jaded to focus on the few that are still good. Like most things the truth lies in the middle while leaning towards one of two directions.
or
these two things are not mutually exclusive
It's called having standards, there have been virtually no decent games since 7th gen consoles because the industry has been dying since 8th gen, that's over a decade ago
both.
Kingdom Come 2, despite what you stupid FAGGOTS say about anything "woke" or gay (you CHOOSE to suck the dick RETARD) is pretty fucking great if not just for the fact I can get on a horse and ride around in this excellently hand made map and stab bandits to fucking death
combos are still annoying to do, the combat is too easy at towards the end and there's not enough to spend my vast amount of money from looting every bandit in Bohemia...
pic related blue and gold is the best fuck anything else
Faggot game
42 year old gamer here. Games are still great. You are likely depressed. I was there from late 2019 to late 2021 and I had a hard time enjoying games. Now I'm better and having a great time with games.
And by great time I mean letting Arrowhead and FromSoft take turns kicking me in the balls lol.
Games absolutely suck now. You can tell by how many people are clamoring for remakes/remasters of old games and how game companies are obliging because the new shit they make is garbage.
Obviously not ALL games suck, but the good shit is very few and far between. If you dont have a multiplayer game that you can sink hundreds to thousands of hours into like say dota, cs, fortnite or some shit, youll feel it so much more because the lull between releases feels like eternity.
Also fuck people suggesting indie games. Spending close to $1000 or more for a good gpu only to play some 2d platformer or some pixel shit is trash.
Old and jaded AND games suck.
Let me explain. You are prolly my age, pushing 40. Video games as an industry matured with you.
Snes was aimed at kids, ps1 at early teens, ps2 at teens and ps3 at young adults and now it has matured as an industry.
You were prolly used to the fact that you could play most bangers because between games there was a lot of time. A good game was discussed long because there wasnt anything around it really, so it impact was bigger.
Now here comes the jaded part: You dont just look at the top selling books/movies and proclaim that entire art form is dead. The good shit just isnt the heavily marketed shit. I play plenty of games today that would be fucking earth shattering games if they came out 20 years ago. Ubisoft,EA,Sony,MS are just your modern day Disney. They dominate the industry, but the good shit is still coming out.
Jaded part 2: I have a kid.
I own most of the games I have ever owned. Now a jaded fuck would let his kids relive his childhood and let him only play the classics. But lets be real: if we would go back in time when you were 8 and we would let you choose between Zelda on the Nes or Totk, what game would you pick?
We are old, the magic of gaming is lost on us and that ease of immersion is never coming back(without drugs), but as a kid, they would choose TotK 100% of the time.
And I envy the youth of today.
Just look up youtubers or whatever that are in their early 20's. They look at games in a different way, only focused on the genres they like, in the same way I look at books.
Sorry for the long type, my shit took long
I'm jaded, I admit it. But is it my fault, or the fact that nearly every game I see is an old game with a new title and more pixels?
anon take the retro/6th early 7th genpill
what the fuck are you doing consuming literal shit for this long
you're an unc
The problem is that when games that are decent come out, you are so cynical and burnt from the bad games you refuse to give it the time of day.
this so much, i played the Guardians of the Galaxy game, and it wasn't bad at all, it went straight to the story and it was funny.
also
no gays
no trannies
no racebait/minorities pandering
girls were actually cute.
really difficult to find a game wihtout wokeshit when it was released.
