But why?

steam bloatware

Incompetent porting techniques

needing remakes

The original just works on my machine with an emulator. Oh wait, I forgot, you can't use it to show off how you paid money for it, so le Steam is the ways to go

Jews probably

I dunno, I remember emulating it on my dad's Pentium 4 almost 30 years ago

Probably the minimum requirements of windows.

because you're not playing in on a SNES, retard

emulation

Should I play snes or ds version?

To filter favela apes using 20 year old computers.

This reminds me of that thread where the one guy told the story about his friend trying to remove the GPU from his Playstation and put it in his PC.

DS has the PSX cutscenes

A combination of having to rebuild a lot of these games since the source code doesn't exist anymore, and the fact that the general requirements go from "240p shit on cartridge and dogshit sound" to a regular ass game with resolutions intended to be scaled to 1080p.

his PlayStation as in original or as in PS5? either way its insane but one of the two is a lot more retarded

That's just the weakest computer the devs have tested the game on.

I remember the ds version being good but the added content was filler trash that legitimately drags the game down if you bother to do it.

Here's what Steam eats up if you completely optimize it, including no friends bullshit.
~550mb of ram gone
Just to launch your game.

Ok

Why would anyone play those instead of emulating the DS version?

Steam has yet to patch Star Wars the force unleashed. For some fucking reason the installation doubles the files, so instead of 15 gb you spend 30. I checked and Gog has fixed this.

Because I don't need to configure an emulator or find the rom?

GOOD MORNING SAAARS STEAM BAD EPIC GOOD SAAAAAAAARS

configure an emulator

Works out the box

find the rom

he doesn't know

buy game

play it

ok, thank you.

you don't like parts of X?

YOU'RE BROWN AND LOVE Y

how did we even reach this level of discourse

So is it just laziness or do modern designers not know shit about coding?

Do not play the DS version. It butchers the soundtrack which is the best part of the game. Play the SNES version or the Steam version.

The only emulator that needs configuring is PS2 and that's on a case by case basis. Most emulators don't even require installation.

ok

Majora's Mask PC port is 50MB

Huh
Why do unpaid randoms always put more effort into this stuff?

ironically because of spics (more browns)

The game is probably being emulated in the bsnes emulator, that is the only one that has a BSD like license.

It's the requirements of the OS, not of the game. Default for all games that have neglectable requirements.

Your pc needs to also run windows

The Steam version has all the DS content besides the Arena and Bestiary. It just comes down to whether you want to play on PC or play handheld.

Oh wait, I forgot

''heh'' Thiago thought to himself after his little quip

smuggest monkey in the favela right here.

Why not?

Doesn't the Steam version has dogshit UI barely salvageable with mods?

play the DS version and ignore the extra DS content, it sucks

doesn't has

Hello ESL.

dogshit UI

I don't understand what this is supposed to mean.

calling out ESL when you're the fucking retard.

Majora's Mask PC port is a source port. They took the (decompiled) C source code and compiled it to a PC executable. The Chrono Trigger PC port is a remake in a different engine. The original game was programmed in 65c816 assembly. None of the original assembly code is in the PC version. They're fundamentally different types of ports. There's no reason to compare them.

SE's fault actually.

Yes?

What is dogshit supposed to mean in that context? Is it just bad? It's being used in every thread lately as a generic word for bad or popular or new or....

And now, it's a "dogshit "ui."
That makes any fucking sense to you? Why? What happened?

Holy shit. I go back and optimize when my programs hit high single digit MBs of RAM consumption. No way all of that is necessary.for background data management.

That's what you get with modern dev though. Nothing is lightweight and everything is shipped ASAP. Just slap a bunch of extra boilerplate libraries in there and hold things together with duct tape.

I just don't understand why I should give a flying fuck about this. Can you explain why you do?

Man, shut your streetshitting ass up ranjeet

Well that's a reasonable response.

The SNES and NES are the easiest consoles to emulate. You don't have an excuse.

You owe me a handjob.

SNES version. Any version after it, including PS1, adds connections with the horrible sequel.

I don't need an excuse. I just click play and it works.

My hands are clean?

bro I have 32GB of ram who cares?

Not when I'm done with you.

Show him the website then

Even through the Youtube compression

Use music.youtube.com instead

did someone port the android version to ps vita?

how much worse

if you say so

That's usually how sex works. Come in clean, leave feeling dirty?

And it looks worse.
SNES.
DS version has a shockingly low resolution (worse than the snes's), they fucked up the music, and the extras they crammed in are awful and ruin the pacing of the game.

Go with the SNES original.

when will someone port the android version to ps vita

Why not play the PSX version?

crying over 500mb of ram

not a brownnigger

pick one

Why do you care?

Autism mostly. However, all resources are limited. It isn't good to hog resources that you don't need on principle, in case another process needs it (or your code ends up running on a lighter platform). Extra memory also usually means some extra processing is going on, and thus extra energy consumption.

Mostly this is a consideration for poorer prople running low end specs. OS, browser, background processes, and the game all need resources, and they add up. But even if you're a richfag with 32GBs of memory, there are going to be RAM intensive games you want to run that this might butt up against.

Fair enough.

Don't know what? Emulators are now so advanced you don't have to find the ROM for a game to play it?

its running an outdated chrome web browser underneath. valve used to give the option to turn off the new client and steam only took like 10 megabytes. that was removed a few years ago now though, it really is fucking stupid. there was a megathread asking people to explain why they wanted the feature and it was ignored. if i needed the store or the modern friends client, i could just open my web browser.
now i will just shill goldbergemu because you can launch games without steam open at all.

120 second post timer after every single post

everything fucking sucks on every front nowadays

It's more like 1000 MB if you've got friends on, and all that just to show you little bits of text and some web-quality images. It's also relatively slow regardless of your computer speed.

And the emulator runs on a syustem that requires 128kb of RAM and 3.58MHz processor?
Retard.

Nobody said that.

proprietary bloat clutter bloat bloat

Don't forget Windows 10, DX12

pointing out something that doesn't make sense means you're "crying"

holy shit what a shill lmao

SNES version. The DS version fucks with the colors making everything look browner.
The DS version moves the combat menu to the second screen. Which you might think is nice because it frees up more screen space. But you have to keep in mind that the original scenes were already composed to account for the menu. So it doesn't get in the way. And you have a button that allows you to toggle the menu between the top and bottom of the screen. Allowing you to get a full view of the field. But also, the DS screen resolution is actually lower than the SNES's screen resolution. So when you're not in battle, you're actually getting about 1 row of titles cut out of the DS game.

The DS version can't handle the exact sounds that the SNES version makes. So they have these slightly off recorded versions of the sounds. Note: the emulator ZSNES can't create the exact sounds either. Do not play it on ZSNES.

The extra content sucks on DS. It's all just grindy garbage, which if you're playing for the first time, you might be tricked into playing. Because you don't know you just opened up the bonus DS content.

The one thing the DS version has, are the anime cutscenes. But what they don't tell you, is that those scenes are only about 15-30 seconds each. there are only about 8 of them over the course of the whole game. And they don't *add* anything to the story. They show the same thing you already see in sprite form. So the game awkwardly makes you watch the anime cutscene, then brings you back to the game where you have to watch sprite scene play out anyway. Watching the same scene twice is just weird. It's not 2001 anymore. Anime isn't this super novel thing. We've all seen anime. The cutscenes should actually add something, but they don't.

The SNES version is pure and untainted.
The DS version is the false prophet.
And the Steam version is simply the devil.

you can't filter your egg prices, oniontown-driven neckbeard.
