Everything that happens in Paradox is a direct result of the events of the Original Trilogy, and you're meant to draw comparisons between the OT world and the Paradox world so that it can subvert your expectations. Also, Paradox fast tracks or skips a good amount of character development because it's made with the assumption that you've played the VN. Illias's Paradox character development especially is heavily (and I do mean HEAVILY) dependent on you being fully familiar with her character in the OT and will have little impact if you're not.

There is no true ending.

The monster side of unity no doubt wants ALL species to have a chance, even if it's literally impossible, so not being able to include any of their sisters due to factors they simply can't control due to the circumstances of what species they were born as wouldn't set well in the slightest. And framing them as "the bad ones" from the human side would just spark tensions and ignite the conflict, because they're only seeing them as "bad" through a human lens, and not the monster perspective. Then enough incidents like crop up and shit goes to war, possibly even worse than prime MGQ.
So like I said, TMD or rewrite reality so true compatibility is possible.

Keeping a notebook of game events could be useful, though there's some big "meeting" events during the transitions from parts 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 that refreshes your memory. Still do it though. In terms of strategy, it depends on the difficulty you choose. I don't know if you played the original already, but do it if you haven't. Much less daunting than the fuckhuge menu autism of Paradox if you're aiming to learn jap.
