Every single Anon Babble core game like New Vegas, STALKER, Vampire the Masquerade also had terrible releases or dev cycles that were cursed but still ended up making a good game. Vampire tht Masquerade and Stalker were virtually unplayable at release, 2077 mostly just had surface level glitches and spotty content because of the usual dev hell loop. Yet for all of those games there were people who stuck around for the full development of the games after their releases because they saw the framework of a good game and now they're very established and popular video games.

They improved the AI, physics, added more movement options because the game had no ability to parkour or seemlessly move through the environment at release, rebalanced the skill system and made weapon stats less absolutely busted all while adding more and more content and including mods into the base game if they were good enough. They also didn't change anything about the story and just added new endings with the DLC. That's it.

Is this just another person who didn't play the game? Deus Ex and Prototype are the closest because the amount of variety given to complete different missions based on skill trees and body mods most resembles what you would see in Deus Ex , there is a lot of build variety. I use prototype as an example because you can essentially make a build similar to gameplay you got from the Prototype games , but also the game is a massive sandbox and any mid to late game build gets pretty overpowered if you aren't stupid and don't know how to stat characters in a pretty straightforward leveling system

The game was partially co-written by Pondsmith and was given his approval. It's also a pretty good game, and while it doesn't have the roleplaying depth of a ttrpg (which no video game is really ever going to have) as an arpg it's great.
