On Expert it has a nice difficulty curve, where it starts out hard, then gets easier and then progressively harder again. The final boss of Act 2 is genuinely Sekiro-tier and then in Act 3 there's a dozen bosses who can oneshot your party. Keep in mind this is on Expert difficulty, the game is considerably easier on the other two.

You can grind quite a lot if you really want to, though I think the devs did a pretty good job in making it feel like you're always at roughly the expected level for any of the big boss fights.

That shit carried me through the game and made Versa by far my biggest damage dealer. Though mainly cause I missed the Maelle weapon from the arena.
The one that let's you basic attack for free? I'm about midway through act 2 (I think) and it's working out well so far. Load up attack luminas for double attack and +1 AP for free 4 AP each turn plus powerful.

The issue is really not the grinding since leveling up barely affects anything, it's party optimization. When Verso can do 130k damage before the damage cap is removed you start wondering why the fuck didn't he solo everything in the game 50 years before its events.

Elemental genesis for example can hit 9999 5 or 6 times in a single turn.

You can do damage cap Steel Haze every single turn and it still takes almost 10 minutes to kill each one of the Act 2 final bosses.
