You also have a whole generation of people, Zoomers, who are mostly incapable of writing more that a single sentence or expressing a coherent thought online. There are a few good ones that actually have more than a room temp IQ, but for the most part the internet and poor education quality has made it impossible to have any genuine discussion with them online. Video game communities and discussion are truly in a dismal situation, but luckily there are a few places left where it’s still the way it used to be. I think the best thing you can do today is find a few online friends who you can engage with privately. Outside of that, a decent discord or equivalent for a particular game you enjoy and play a lot of. Preferably one without a huge community, otherwise you get more of the same curated algorithm based social media slop. It's the natural direction everything takes as user volume increases too much for individuals to remain a notable presence. We're seeing this here too, as much of the catalog is now just FOTM topics and regurgitated algorithm slop from other social media.
