Why did [insert literally anything here] become so expensive?
And your answer is on Anon Babble.
This computer is 3 times faster than a console and 3 times more likely to have the user ending his life early.
Now bait aside, its expensive because the moore's law ended.
Anything under 10nm is a lie.
We're just improving 10nm and adding more manufacturing steps, and this makes the price of the wafer go up.
From 1970 to 2010, the price of this baby in the pic was 3000 dollars, and every 18 months, give or take, the number of components in it double.
Now, now every 18 to 24 months, the number of components increase by 30-50$, and the price of the wafer doubles.
The 3nm waffle for example is around $18000 dollars, and 2nm is around $30000 -$35000
And don't even ask about 1nm, if you can't buy it, you shouln't even ask.
its time we had a sit down and talked.
you're poor
You're retarded and deserve no games for not understanding how mass consumption products like consoles work.
No one is going to make a game for you and your three friends.
$500 is expensive now
how about getting a job in a first world country?
consoles are sold at a loss, Sherlock.
that $500 console costs $700 to manufacture and the company get their money back through games sales, not console sales.
now get a job
You could easily shave off all that cost if you wait for sales and buy either AMD or the previous gen super cards that perform better.
You didn't do your research and buying that piece of shit shows it
Why did getting into gaming become so expensive?
inflation rose during the Great Recession of 2007. that’s why the PS3 was 499.99 and the Xbox 360 was 399.99. while back then, the PS2 and classic Xbox were less than that. the prices are still relatively the same but expect them to go higher because of polidicks
PC gaming
that’s always been expensive as shite. if you’re a poorfag, just don’t buy it
Summary
buy a gym membership instead of a console if you’re poor as shite
I recently paid 500$ for basically that entire computer sans the video card which I reused from my old computer.
What a rip. Although this was before the tariff excuse to raise prices. That microcenter deal for a mobo ram and a 9800x3d was amazing
No one does games for consoles that don't sell well.
"You're poor" is the most retarded take of this board.

The retard tax is pretty high.

It's the old consolefag trick of "my console is equivalent to a high end PC", when it's 1050ti tier, with CPUs so shit you need to get a tablet to get equivalent CPUs.
Now at least on the PS5 generation, it is more or less what one would consider a "regular budget PC", instead of something you need to scavenge for weird parts in chinese boards.
exactly, anything below a 5090 is low-end
If the GPU market wasn't absolutely fucked this would be a great time for PC gaming. Everything else is cheap, plentiful and good
why is a wafer round when the microprocessors are square?
It’s the same reason why blak cocks are bigger than whyte cocks
xbox series s is 100€ used
A $600 PC will play everything and more than modern console. You are paying a premium for "future proofing" and better graphics not gaymes
Because to manufacture the pure sillicon crystal ingot used to manufacture chips, you use the spin to win furnace that grows the tube.
Then you cut the tube with a diamond saw.
i don't get it
They aren't? ... Oh I see your point
your gf will
This is how they look after pulled.

h-haha....yeah
If the PS6 comes out in 2027, it will be absurdly expensive and disappointing.
The PS5 pro is made with the 4nm process that is the second to most advanced manufacturing process available.
2nm only add 50% more transistors to it and it's 300 dollars per SoC.
In theory 1nm will be starting to be manufactured in 2027, but if the price tendency holds up, we're talking 600 dollars per SoC.
The only way to make it viable would be some massive chiplet monstrosity with a bunch of 7nm dies glued together.
INFLATION NEVER GOES DOWN YOU FUCKING RETARDS
Grown ass adult men are willing to spend their entire cashier wagie check on a bing bing wahoo machine.
If they didn't tell an entire generation to avoid responsibilities at all costs the Nintendo Switch 2 would only be $300 at most.
Around 2 grand is what you always paid for a decent/good PC, it's just the very top end like RTX 5090 that has become crazy
that isn't expensive, try photography, woodworking, fishing, even cycling is more expensive than gaming
nah, even mid range stuff is way overprice right now. There's barely any stock, so even a msrp $650 card ends up selling for $900
No one cares about your weird deviantart fetish.
The gaming market grew up. These things no longer rely trying to get parents to buy a console for their kids as a christmas present. It's the adult parents who buy them for themselves while the kids are glued to tiktok and fortnite on their phones.
Working adults can afford the modern prices quite easily.
who cares, I can afford it
And it will die if keep like that, because if kids are not playing video games, they won't grow up as adults that play video games, and it will go the way of the spin top.
because its funny
When did gaming get so expensive
1972 when the Magnavox Odyssey was released for $100 or about $800 today.
We'll also accept when my parents stopped buying me video games and when I decided to stop trading games to Gamestop and become a collector.
The consoles are 5 year old midrange hardware that will be obsolete and need a refresh in 4 years, and on top of that it is subsidized by a subscription plan and other bullshit.
The PC will last twice as long and has no subscription fee, so it comes out ahead in a price comparison, especially if you don't get a prebuilt with awful price/performance novidya components.

PlayStation 5
$499.99
Wasn't the PS3 originally this price anyways?
Yes: But, people like OP who don’t know basic fucking history will always be retarded
I would if they were actually hiring
No real man would bind himself to a weight like that.
