There are two schools of though. Either you buy model 1 of a console because it's easiest to hack in the event you want to hack it, but you risk the first models having bad hardware. The other is to wait until the end of a console's life and buy it because by then the hardware bugs are worked out and there's a huge library of good games already out for it. In the Switch 2's case, it's backwards compatible with the Switch 1, so you could have the best of both worlds by getting a Switch 2 and playing Switch 1's games, at the cost of it not being cheap.
