Name three other non-linear adventure games that saved your progress on or before 1986. It was nothing short of revolutionary and genuinely fun. I love exploration and that's more or less why Skyrim made my list too.

You just have to make Skyrim look a little better and make magic not suck so much ass and it's a great game to get lost in. Literally.

Skyrim was too desolate, tundra and plains with pines. Needed more vibrant plantlife like Oblivion. I don't remember any external areas where you stumble onto them exploring and think they are particularly noteworthy or memorable. I can more or less see Skyrim outside so that's my bias.

I think the closer to the sun, the better. The further your panels are, the more building resources you waste, since the total amount of energy they collect is the same. However, if you put them too close, you risk melting your panels. So bring them close enough to not melt and you're good to go

2's gameplay mechanics are very much one step forward, one step back in most places. It controls better than 1 overall but the much worse story does diminish that. It's not the downgrade people have called it but I'd sooner play Mercer's game if given the choice.
