comfy Switch 2 thread?
Comfy Switch 2 thread?
I can't wait to play the new Mario Cart with my wife and her boyfriend
that's strange
Just 18 more days until Anon Babble gets raped again.
what did you preorder? SMW bundle + pro 2 for me
I intentionally left games from Switch 1 to play so I have a lot of new games to start with. I'm so glad I did this. I'll start with TotK
As long as you’re in first place and not her boyfriend, it’s still a W.
Switch 2
Mario Kart
Pro Controller
2 Gamecube Controllers
because I skipped Switch 1, Mario Odyssey and Tears of the Kingdom are launch titles for me personally. This is the best console launch of all time easily.
holy shit. it's true that you've missed a lot of games over these years, but now you're going to have an amazing time. I'm jelly
Hoping that the GameCube controller stays in stock after launch since I could only afford to pre-order the console itself
I only got the mk world bundle and Bananza
I'm so excited
The only switch 1 games I recommend are breath of the wild, mario odyssey, smash ultimate, and metroid dread
bundle
I'm a physical thad
Switch 2
Mario Kart World
Donkey Kong Bananza
Pro Controller
Some disappointment at the resolution targets of games
I Also purchased Captain Toad Treasure Tracker to play that on Switch 2 with the upgrade.
I got an email from Nintendo saying i was still in queue but they have no estimate for when I can actually buy the thing from them
I registered on the 12th when will I be able to order it?
I was thinking of getting a credit card with an initial 3 month 500 dollar spending bonus of 200 dollars back before I bought it so I basically get 200 bucks off of it
When is the donkey kong game expected to come out and do you think there will be exploit to for hacking like the switch 1.
Just the base model. Not superhyped for MK9, might get it down the road. Looking forward to Donkey Kong, and I'm gonna play some upgraded TotK till that drops
Bananza comes out july
same bro, was a good idea to keep my switch backlog on tabs so I can play them enhanced on switch 2.
I'm a physical thad
I am too but constantly swapping cards when you want to play some MK in between is a fucking nightmare. MP games were made for digital. I had MK8 on the card and it was a terrible experience
how long until reorders go up for the NSO gamecube controller?
Fate/Hollow Ataraxia remaster coming to Nintendo Switch soon
x.com
Oh that soon after release? Why didn't they just name it a launch game.
words of wisdom
Would eat into MKW’s sales. Nintendo learned that lesson during their Wii-U and 3DS era.
It's June 5th. Your Switch 2 arrives.
You open up the box gently, removing all the tape. The swift slicing sound is soon followed by a quiet sigh as the sealed air is pushed out of the box.
And there it is, the Switch 2. Its beautiful surface teases you, the joycon sticks daring you to reach out and touch them; to feel them; to play with them.
You handle it gently, taking it out the box. You connect the joycons and it responds with a satisfying snap. It's happy, and you made it happy. You want to close your eyes and take it further, but they remain open as you turn it on.
The Nintendo logo appears, staring into your soul. It searches you, tests you, asking for just another second of patience as you anticipate what it can give you...
You rush to put in your settings, making some mistakes in the process but oh they are such beautiful mistakes.
You are getting closer, you can feel it. You go faster and faster, your mind going blank. The Switch makes its final noise and Mariokart World is there as you reach out and...
Your alarm goes off. You wake up. It's May 20th. You have work.
MK is enough for day one. Bananza will be out on July 17
Some disappointment at the resolution targets of games
Can you elaborate on this? I haven't been keeping up. Are Mario Kart and DK running at 1080p only?
Nigga did you copy and paste a fuckin Reddit thread here?
Mario Kart bundle
Pro controller
256 GB micro sd express to hold me over until bigger ones from better brands become more available/cost effective
Gamecube Controller
I want to get a case but I'm not sure what to get. I don't think I need a fancy one because it's literally just there to protect it while its in my bag when I take it places.
I hope the framedrops of Link's Awakening are history on the S2
switch 2
mario kart
pro controller 2
totk sage amiibo
official carry case/screen protector
kunitsu-gami digital, wish it had a physical
haven't preordered anything that releases past launch yet
They will be, if it's bringing up fucking BoTW to 60 (maybe 120? I don't know) in Korok Forest the extra power alone should fix up most if not all Switch games to their max framerate. Age of Calamity should be actually playable.
this but for echoes of wisdom, never got around to finishing it so now I'm just waiting for switch 2
Just that the display is 1080 but games are pushing for 1080 while docked, so either they are non integer scaling at 900 or 720 while in handheld or something like 540 putting them at a lower res than what was on the Switch, Donkey Kong for example is 1080 while docked, third parties are predominantly 1080 possibly lower while docked, resolutions didn't really improve over the Switch's lifetime, so things aren't really trending well.
God, I hope SEGA plays nice with Nintendo this gen. Given there's Mega Drive, we have a chance at Saturn on NSO (Dreamcast is too close to SEGA remastering for full price imo)
which could mean Rayman 1 being playable on the Switch. Highly doubt Ubisoft is interested in re-releasing it.
yeah I find both unplayable as-is
i remember seeing somewhere (with the recent leak of the mainboard) that the switch 2 was supposed to be a switch pro but due to supply chain issues they ended up abandoning power upgrades for the switch and just made the oled model
this would explain why the switch 2's hardware is good enough to push 1440p and 4k on switch games at 60fps, but it crumbles when trying to run games with better graphics.
the hardware is designed to push high res high framerate for switch games, but it's not designed to push better graphics and higher res at the same time like a new generation is supposed to.
like donkey kong bananza, it looks marginally better than mario odyssey but it's stuck at 1080p
Standard SW2, MKW physical, controller, also preordered DK. Haven't played as much the last couple of years and games keep getting delayed. I hope there's a June direct announcing even more games
them and marvelous are based
Their track record is atrocious at best, remember Sonic Colors for Switch, Sega stated years ago that Sonic sold best on Nintendo hardware yet Switch was a complete afterthought for all sonic releases for the whole gen, Sonic Mania having performance issues on the Switch, Sonic Generations looking like a phone game while running like a PS5 port, Sonic frontiers and Sonic Forces being lazy ports, even Atlus was confusing, sure you got SMTV, really bad performance but still SMTV, then you get Soul Hackers 2 not launching on Switch. I just wouldn't expect anything but the bare minimum from Sega this gen.
the switch 2 was supposed to be a switch pro
makes literally zero sense, just a cope from people who spent literal years of their lives posturing of a switch pro that never existed
Nintendo: "In TV mode, the game can display up to 1440p and 60 FPS. In Handheld or Tabletop mode, the game runs at up to 1080p and 60 FPS."
bros im getting a little hungry for Smash news
6.5 years since Ult released and not even a mention of a new game in development
lol no
i don't know, it makes sense to me considering the chip is from 2021 or around that and considering how weak the switch 2 is.
it runs switch games fine, but start running demanding games like cyberpunk2077 and it goes back to 540p like the switch used to.
even nintendo games don't have new generation feel to them, i'm sure you can make a comparison that proves they are technically better looking, but i'm gonna be honest, at a glance the new mario kart and donkey look the same to me as mk8 and mario odyssey
Wait until Kirby Air Riders 2 comes out little nigga. We ain’t getting a new smash game until late 2026/early 2027.
What's the deal with this series? Are these games fun to play in single player?
i don't know, it makes sense to me considering the chip is from 2021 or around that and considering how weak the switch 2 is.
what the fuck are you talking about
Same. Plus I want SmashUlt and Splatoon 3 upgrades, some news for that in a June direct would be nice.
Dumb troll
Why would you play that piece of shit remake to begin with? God, I will never stop seething about it, LA is my favorite Zelda.
6.5 years since Ult released
How...?
Is it seriously 18 more days?
nintendo: switch 2 supports vrr in both handheld and docked
nintedo 2 days ago: sorry intern goofed up, it's not supported in docked
i don't trust what they say i trust what they show, and donkey kong did not show 1440p
The only news Smash fans got is the creative director who's been on board for every game has been working on a different series since early 2022
not even a crumb like Smash 64 on NSO, lol
We ain’t getting a new smash game until late 2026/early 2027.
you are boldly optimistic
2028 earliest, and that's assuming only a 3 year dev cycle that starts immediately after air riders wraps development
don't like the look?
do you live under a rock? haven't you seen the full specs released 2 or 3 days ago?
Dumb troll
sure anyone who says anything you don't like is a troll
Dreamcast
Keep those games away from Gamecube subscription garbage. I want to own the Sonic Adventures and Skies of Arcadia, and I want to see them on my home screen. All I have right now for Dreamcast games are the Power Stones (from the collection that released yesterday).
Doesn't add up, Nintendo would have had teams developing both simultaneously, so this would imply that they arbitrarily decided to abandon the actual Switch 2 and field a Switch 1.5 in it's stead, even though the Switch 2 chip is multiple generations of tech improvements which in order to get the most out of the hardware would require a complete change in how a game renders everything.
They've shown bananza only in 1080, unlikely that a major resolution jump is happening in the space of a few months, especially with the performance issues the game saw in the demo.
PS5
900$ (800$ console + 100$ online) for 480p 35 fps and zero games
Xbox
850$ (730$ console + 120$ for online) for 360p 25 fps and zero games
Steam Deck
PC but with 50% performance for 90% price
Switch 2
470$ (450$ console + 20$ online) for 4k 60 fps for shitload of kino games
Unlikely, you're getting a new game for each
Nintendo would have had teams developing both simultaneously, so this would imply that they arbitrarily
i don't see in what capacity this would be arbitrary, it's just a financial decision to cut costs by repurposing and old chip.
and i don't see how the games would need to change their rendering in any way, the switch 2 games we saw do not make use of any kind of new technology that would require many reworks, dlss is very easy to add midway through development.
the switch 2 uses 2021 hardware, we are in 2025
I've never liked the series, probably just successful because they're co-op games and there's not a lot of competition in that area.
I don't think there's any cables that supports docked VRR
I think Smash Melee will be announced soon, no Smash 64 is weird.
Nintendo bumping resolution wouldn't be anything new. There might be a perfomance mode vs graphics mode like PS does
10% better perfomance isn't worth paying 50-100 more for, everyone would just complain and Switch 2 wouldn't sell
Will they fix the laggy ass eshop?
90% of third party devs are doing the key-card thing because it's cheaper for them.
it's really put me off buying a switch 2 seeing how prevalent it is.
it's especially grating when the switch 1 versions of those games ARE on the cart.
just makes me want to buy the switch 1 version.
That's a pants on head retarded cost cutting decision because you just threw away way more money by not using the more expensive next gen development, I'm telling you, a mid gen pro console doesn't contain multiple generations worth of tech advancements and require an emulation layer to play the games it's a pro console for, none of what you are saying makes sense, if Nintendo were making a pro console which clearly they weren't it would have been redone as the Oled, not the Switch 2.
There should be footage somewhere.
it's fixed
10% better perfomance isn't worth paying 50-100 more for, everyone would just complain and Switch 2 wouldn't sell
oh i didn't complain about the performance.
it's just that the anon talked about low resolution in switch 2 games and i gave what is, in my opinion, a likely explanation.
and if we really are to talk about price and performance, the normal steam deck for 400$ achieves similar handheld performance (sometimes worse sometimes better, it depends) to the switch 2.
nintendo to expects to sell 150$ of these, i'm sure they can get better deals than valve which sold what? 5 million steam decks?
of they wanted to they could sell the switch 2 at 350$ and still make a profit
achieves similar handheld performance
It's nowhere close. If you don't know what you're talking about just go you know where
youtube.com
what you said makes sense, i was wrong then
i will watch the video but from what i know they are similar because the elden ring footage looked just like the steam deck and elden ring is a game i know well
and require an emulation layer to play the games it's a pro console for
This is the definitive proof that the Switch 2 was never the Switch Pro. The most likely way that the Switch Pro rumor became a thing is that people saw leaks of the OLED and leaks of the Switch 2 early development and got their wires crossed. That or the OLED was going to be a larger upgrade but Nintendo decided that the screen and dock was enough.
My problems with the resolution is that either you get a non integer resolution or a lower res than the original Switch if games are 1080 while docked, which means that games will in terms of resolution clarity look worse than the original Switch in handheld, I seriously hope Nintendo sets a standard for their published games so that they all hit 1080 while in handheld, but then Donkey Kong Bananza, Monolith Soft and Good-Feel all exist.
what you said is literally a lie
Wont buy Switch 2 KEY carts. Fuck that.
I'm probably just going to play 3ind Waher GCN or some shit, I just finished XC2 and XC3 back to back so I really have no big games left in my Switch 1 backlog, why oh why did Nintendo think a Mario Kart game is a good launch exclusive?
Buying an overpriced toy for manchildren
Lol no
why oh why did Nintendo think a Mario Kart game is a good launch exclusive?
because MK is the Switch 1's best selling game
Do you guys like my switch mod?
I got the Mario Kart bundle and DK Bananza.
Should probably get a pro controller too but I'd prefer to save some money and wait for a converter that enables the PS5 controller to work with the Switch 2.
I actually have a question. So if I bought TOTK and Kirby ATFL now with game vouchers, then upgraded to the Switch 2 versions of both games later, it'd be cheaper than buying the Switch 2 versions of them wholesale, right? I'm in the UK if it makes any difference.
christ that's dumb
My launch games will be Mario Kart World, Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma and Fast Fusion. I'm excited, I love the Switch and I'm still playing it to death (on Banjo Tooie right now) but specs-wise I'm really ready to move on. I just got a fancy new TV to use it with too.
Tell me this isn’t real
I skipped the switch but I’m considering getting a switch 2 since it plays the previous console’s games too. What are the essential games in your opinion?
$100(plus tax) for 2 game vouchers, $20 for Kirby, $10 for TOTK=~$135
Vs
Get a used copy of Kirby for $40 on Walmart/Gamestop etc+ a used copy of TOTK for $45+ $30 for the upgrade packs=~$120
why oh why did Nintendo think a Mario Kart game is a good launch exclusive?
LMFAO
70 million sold on Switch alone
Just a few off the top of my head, there are definitely more depending on your tastes:
Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Zelda BotW/TotK/LA/EoW, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (even with World coming), Smash Bros Ultimate, Xenoblade 1/2/3/X, Metroid Dread, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Astral Chain.
Last night I had the displeasure of stumbling into feminist Instagram. Every other post was an American woman talking about "How to survive fascism". The secondhand embarassment levels I felt while reading were off the charts. How can anyone write such demonstrably false drivel and not only not be called out on it, but also have it circlejerked?
Meanwhile there are countries elsewhere that are ACTUALLY fascist, as in, they follow the real Italian fascist manifesto and it shapes all of their laws and policies. So disrespectful to the people who actually live in these regimes.
My bank account weeps, but I can’t say I’m not excited to get started
In terms of exclusives?
Essential
Metroid Dread
Metroid Prime Remastered
Xenoblade X Definitive Edition
Highly recommend
Astral Chain
Another Code Recollection
Bayonetta Origins
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (unless you can play it on PC at 60fps)
Solid
New Pokemon Snap
Clubhouse Games
Luigi's Mansion 3
Mario + Rabbids 1 and 2
Most other Nintendo games
Avoid
Endless Ocean Luminous (I'm still mad)
Paper Mario Origami King
Super Mario Party
Princess Peach Showtime
AVOID!!!
Pokemon Sword and Shield
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Detective Pikachu Returns
I'm doing Mario Kart World, Street Fighter, Cyberpunk, Puyo Puyo Tetris, and Fast Fusion
MKW because I like Mario Kart and I have literally always dreamt of an open world one where all the tracks were on the same landmass since seeing tracks making cameos in the skyboxes of Double Dash
Street Fighter because I currently bring my PS5 to work with me to practice combos, and doing things with the Switch 2 would require so much less carrying
Cyberpunk because it's got cross save with the PC version and I've been looking for a reason to get back into my week 1 completed save file
Puyo Puyo Tetris because I am a slave to the Tetris machine. I think PPT2S is going to be a huge fucking waste of money considering it seems to be $40 without an option to discount upgrade from the Switch 1 version of PPT2, but if it has even one millisecond less of input delay then I have to know
And Fast Fusion because that's going to be a guaranteed sleeper hit. $15 for a followup to a dope and underrated racing game is a no brainer
Based deal seeker. To add onto this, if you have a membership at a wholesale warehouse like Costco or Sam's Club, you can typically get digital purchase gift cards at like 10% discounts. They sell $100 Eshop cards for $90, and using this to get vouchers has been an excellent way to keep costs down
I think Super Mario Odyssey is the safest bet. It's not getting a Switch 2 version or a "replacement" game, and it's just really damn solid. Metroid Dread is also really great, as well as the remaster for Prime 1.
Do you guys think MK8 Deluxe servers will still be populated when MK World comes out?
Avoid
>Super Mario Party
Anon is right. Arguably the worst game I've bought in recent memory, at least with any amount of excitement attached to it. The following two Mario Party games on the Switch shit all over it in comparison
Nah Pokemon Sword is decent, especially when used copies go for $30 now.
It was easy enough to find people on MK Wii up until online shut down.
what are the chances that we'll see NSO have metroid prime 1/2, mario kart double dash, pikmin 1/2, paper mario ttyd, luigi's mansion, twilight princess
Double Dash

DKCR and Tropical Freeze
Bayonetta 2, get 3 if you enjoyed that one
Astral Chain
Metroid Dread
Xenoblade 2 or 3 + their DLC*, if you're not a fan of cool down MMO-esque combat though, avoid them
Generations Ultimate is a must too if you like MH
Slop of the Goyim
Essential
this thread is so gross lol just a bunch of tendies slopping their sloppa
oh yes i preslopped my sloppy sloppa, yes i could buy it later when it actually has games and good battery (never) but i need to sloppy the sloppa day-1 by preslopping the slopiest slop from NIGtendo
lol what the fuck
all of them are likely expect the ones with switch ports/remasters
best post ITT
Any game where you have to self regulate difficulty is automatically a 1/10.
The wait is actually killing me.
At least I get to fuck a hot chubby this week, so it will keep me entertained for a while.
Do we know yet if the Mario Kart bundle comes with a code or if the game is already downloaded onto the console?
hell yeah time to play the newest Mario Kart game
get into bed with my Switch 2(TM)
get comfy
boot up Picross S8 by Jupiter
it's a code
Luigis Mansion 50%
Are you retarded? They even showed it on the GCN reveal among other games.
Pikmin 1 and 2 already have a Switch version, censored even, so yeah, I doubt it
The ones I am really interested are:
Rogue Squadron 2 and 3
Eternal Darkness
Smash Bros Melee
Extremely based desu
Forgot Kirby Air Ride and Cubivore.
Since Kirby air ride is getting a sequel soon, this one might come sooner than expected.
I haven't pre-ordered anything because I expect the console to be easily available in my country. Preferably the console alone as I don't exactly care for Mario Kart, but I'll go with the MKW bundle if the first option isn't possible. Yakuza Zero and Kunitsugami are the launch titles I do plan to get though.
I'm also looking forward to the BC improvements on Switch games, between Resident Evil 6, Xenoblade 2, the musou games, R-Type Final 2, etc.
Since Kirby air ride is getting a sequel soon, this one might come sooner than expected.
if anything it's the opposite
you guys play in docked mode or handheld mode?
i used to like playing in handheld but now the screen of my switch feels too small.
i also had to buy a gripcase because the switch is so flat and thin it hurts to hold
Kart bundle. I did forget to order the Pro Controller at fucking Gamestop so ordered it on Amazon and will make do with the Switch 1 controller for a week (need Gamechat to play with neice and fuck Joy-Cons).
Sitting on Link's Awakening, Unicorn Overlord, Fire Emblem 3 Hopes, Sparks of Hope to to play new on Switch 2 and I rebought Metroid Dread and Pikmin 4 so future playthroughs can use the new S.D card.
Thinking I might rebuy Smash digitally so it's always on me with extra snappy menus. Will wait to see if Pokemon Legends ZA is on the voucher list and will get vouchers for them if so.
got the Thursday it releases and the Friday after off
Gonna have a comfy 4 day weekend dedicated to it.
Day one plans are
Mario Kart World
Bravely Default Remaster
the Gamecube games (including a new Wind Waker playthrough I've been putting off for YEARS)
Pokemon Violet performance patch
Nice to finally have more news on this. Hoping it'll get announced for the west soon like the other recent Type Moon VNs have been (maybe at Anime Expo's FGO panel again?)
I also got the MKW bundle. I'll probably still be playing Xenoblade X at that point
I used to want to own all the Smash games physically since I was a massive smashfag, but with neither 4 nor ult getting a full release with all DLC included I went digital for them, same goes for pokken, splatoon and animal crossing, the latter doesn't even have cool boxart, and I don't care for owning MKW physically.
sonic, raidou and yakuza as game key cards
Not a good start, I swear, if persona 6 is digital only I'm gonna murder someone
Hello Anon,
On behalf of the My Nintendo Store team, thank you for registering your interest to purchase the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system from Nintendo.
We wanted to let you know that you’re still in the queue to purchase, and to share with you a handful of updates on what to expect.
Am I going to make it bros?
i hope i can secure a switch 2 in my country
i will also be switching (hehe) to digital games now since they sell different regional cartridges here and most games have their dlcs region-locked
for launch, i'll just stick to mario kart
never played any before, but this one looks so much fun, plus i love the visuals
dk bananza also looks fun, but i know it'll get so tiring smashing everything for 100% completion
i don't know how this game will work honestly in that aspect
will you have to terraform each layer completely and make a mess out of the level design? i wish it was similar to mario odyssey instead
We'll probably get release dates for MP4, Z-A and age of imprisonment, maybe a gameplay trailer for air riders and more nintendo switch 2 editions for games like mario wonder and pikmin 4, also safe bets for announcements like a new 3d mario
i also wanna know how switch 1 games will run on the switch 2, those with switch 2 editions
for example, botw
if i insert my switch 1 botw cartridge in the switch 2, will it look and run better than it does on the switch 1? or do i have to buy the upgrade pack for better res and fps?
Just play the first 2, the pre-sequel and the first tales, ignore the rest
link's awakening 64 remake never ever
It hurts, hopefully some autist can pick up the project where the original dev left off
or do i have to buy the upgrade pack for better res and fps?
yes
For BotW and TotK it's the latter. Kinda bullshit because the additions they're asking you to pay $10 for are actually outside the game with the phone app, but it is what it is. Although they're "free" if you have the NSO + Expansion Pass.
The upgrade is if you want the resolution and framerate to go above the initial cap. Otherwise, you'd still be able to enjoy a steady 30fps with no resolution drops
False advertisement, I'm a fascist and I haven't been killed by the switches I touched
Been playing Fast Racing League lately, it's cool
need a racist chuddy nazi bf who will cuddle and play vidyagaymes with me :3
got the mario kart bundle. me and my kid will probably be all over that, my girlfriend wants me to get TOTK since shes a zelda fan, ill probably play mario odyssey and pokemon scarlet with the new gen upgrade
Do you have the picture of the guy putting up cardboard cutouts of monsters and fire and then lying on the ground in fetal position? I can never find it
also safe bets for announcements like a new 3d mario
No way, the plan is DK first and go all out and announce 3D Mario next year because the Mario movie, huge marketing campaign. I think Nintendo wants to make more 3D platformers but they don't want to cannibalize the sales for each one. Something like 3D Kirby, 3D Mario, 3D DK.
Are people eventually going to buy Switch 2 and the games despite those huge prices?
I seriously hope you get street fighter digitally, same goes for puyo puyo unless it's the switch 1 physical version
pikmin 1/2
What's the point? You can buy them unless you want the uncensored version of 2
honestly, yes
i'm the kind of gamer who only picks up games that are truly worth playing
i always pirate low effort crap like pokemon, but i'll buy good games like botw and mario odyssey
i don't think i'll have to worry about playing any other games once gta 6 launches
that game will last like 10 years at least
same with mario kart, it'll give me about 7-8 years of fun, until the next switch/nintendo console drops
It's sheer paranoia. My sister seriously believes the world is out to get her personally. It's really sad to see
Could they even rerelease the Gamecube version of 2 on NSO with all the product placement if it's just the original ROM? The licenses for all those products expired long ago.
There is a Donkey Kong Bananza thread, abandoned, at the bottom of the catalog.
That is unacceptable.
I need you all to bump Donkey Kong Bananza threads.
You got a deal if you let me suck your dick
Generally speaking, the plan is one 3D Mario, one 2D Mario per generation. Ports of older games are possible, but in terms of new games, it's generally one 3D and one 2D Mario specifically made for the system.
There's generally also only one Mario Kart, and one each of the Mario sports games made for the system as well.
Certain games such as Mario Party can get new games in their series released multiple times per system.
just the mario kart bundle, and i'll buy the welcome tour because i'm retarded.
pro controller is too expensive, i'll probably play a lot in handheld anyway so i'll make do with my 8bitdo pro 2 if I want a normal controller. I won't miss the gamechat button, I don't have friends.
finally get a new 3D DK after like 25 years
DK is redesigned and the art direction doesn't resemble the rare games in the slightest
...and the monkey paw curls once more
Anyone else sold their old Switch for the new release? I got 260 bucks for mine, how much did you get?
you can't keep making laws that disempower women and be surprised when women aren't happy
all zeldas, mario wonder, metroid dread
I have a job so the Switch 2 and the games remain essentially the same price range like back with the first Switch.
I wonder if any women from developing countries are consulted during the writing of those posts. Oh wait...
non-"switch 2 edition" switch 1 games should still run better on switch 2 because of the higher power. but it won't look better and it won't run as nice as the patched "switch 2 edition".
Did you guys upload your data? Like that shit where you let them delete your games for a preload on Switch 2?
I got a Pro recently and they made switching from one PS5 to another pretty easy I’d like to hear about Nintendo’s stuff
Skies of arcadia is one of the few games that need a good remaster as both the dreamcast and the gamecube versions aren't perfect. One is on two disks and the other suffers from shit audio quality due to forcing both halves onto one mini disc.
I won't get rid of my Switch 1 so I don't need to do that, I'll just do the local data transfer once I get the Switch 2.
why doesn't it look like a 26 year old game that sold 5 million copies, instead of the recent billion dollar box office movie?
yeah, game store gave me 190€ for my switch oled. i also sold them all the physical games I wasn't going to replay. I could have gotten more money for them but it's not worth the effort.
Did you guys upload your data? Like that shit where you let them delete your games for a preload on Switch 2?
is that a thing? i just uploaded my saves on NSO.
Mario Kart bundle and a pro controller
Preordered Rune Factory for Switch 1 but the date got pushed to June 5 so technically that since I'll be getting the switch 2 upgrade
Also have a carrying case, screen protector and micro sd express card waiting

Initializes/erased your system though
Are all games getting a boost or only ((their)) selected ones
By default all games should have better loading time, but it’ll take an update for it to be optimized for switch 2
i just want mhgu at 60 fps... please capcom
Maybe if you guys didn't vote Trump we wouldn't have to be making these kinds of advisories, hmm?
Any game that uses a dynamic resolution and/or have inconsistent framerates will also get a free boost to their highest original limits due to stronger hardware. Anything beyond that such as raising the resolution to a higher quality or upping the framerate to anything higher than the original is a paid upgrade. Nintendo just communicated that VERY poorly, as usual.
Initially about a dozen games will be getting a free upgrade that increases performance
There are also a handful of games that will get the performance upgrades plus better graphics and QOL stuff
Then there are a couple like Kirby that get new content
Pikmin is 0% since it got HD Switch ports with the licensed products removed.
Please let gen 10 look actually decent, surely not even Game Freak can screw it up with that much power at their disposal.
Two nukes just weren't enough.
Wrong.
The console will boot up, do the giant first day patch and then whatever account you are logged into it will inform you that you have a game to redeem. So don't let your wife's boyfriend log into your S2 before you and claim your Bing Bing Wahoo Kart.
surely not even Game Freak can screw it up with that much power at their disposal
Kirby that get new content
fuck off sakurai
Wrong.
It's a code.
Same as PS5/Xbox Series
- Some games get paid upgrades to actively make use of the new hardware to run at higher resolutions and frame rates etc. and typically add new content (BotW, TotK)
- Some games get free upgrades to actively make use of the new hardware to run at higher resolutions and frame rates etc (Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Zelda Links Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom)
- Any game MAY perform slightly better simply by virtue of hitting the overhead limit on Switch and that being higher on Switch 2, however the most this will result in generally is slightly higher frame rates and better texture loading speeds, generally (no examples to give on Switch 2, but for a PlayStation example, Gravity Rush 2s loading issues at very high speeds that it had on PS4 are non-existent if you play it on PS5)
Nintendo has posted official lists of all games getting paid or free upgrades. Anything else is a "it might run a little better purely by being on better hardware but don't expect anything"
Gen 10 isn't even going to look as good as the crysis trilogy on the original switch. Stop this wishful thing already.
I said decent, not cutting-edge or anything. Pic related from the tera leak is what Game Freak was targeting Pokémon SV to look like. If they can get out something that actually looks like this, I'd be fine.
If this is the starting point, they'll be making their generational leap from quicksand.
you guys play in docked mode or handheld mode?
100% docked
0% handheld
for me it's a home console. am I the only one? I'd be completely crazy to play in handheld mode if I have a high-end 75" TV at home. and a Pro controller
fucking why
I also got the Mario Kart bundle and the Pro 2 and I'll get DK when it comes out. I need to clear some of my Switch backlog though, I completely forgot I got DQT a while back and I need to give it a shot. I honestly really wish I could be excited for the new Pokemon, but ever since Gen 8 I've completely given up on the series. I really do hope that the next mainline games are going to be solid.
same
Sometimes it's just convenient to play in handheld
If I'm hatching 1000 eggs for a shiny I don't really need to stare at my big screen TV
Or just mundane grinding in games when I'm just pressing A
a month ago for 270€. OLED
Why didn’t you go to GameStop 3 weeks ago nigga.
got the email that says I'm still in the queue on Nintendo's website
I'm not getting one at launch, am I?
I'm like 95% docked.
Occasionally i might be playing an RPG and I'm at a spot where I want to autismo grind and I'll watch something while playing handheld but that's about it.
I want to play astral chain on this and then maybe like neir or something, think ill give yakuza a try to since thats coming to it
Astral Chain
youtube.com
Still hoping for a sequel but it's already been 6 years
lads I'm scared
Soliani has left Ubisoft. what will happen to his phenomenal games? will we get Switch 2 updates?
What are some good, relatively cheap 4K tvs I could get for my Switch 2. I want to use something bigger since I've been using the same 1080p monitor for my consoles for years now.
What are some good, relatively cheap 4K tvs
sorry none
Just get a 4k monitor, they look better than tvs and are smaller
Shouldn't be too hard to find but make sure it supports HDMI 2.1 because HDMI 2.0 is capped at 60Hz
Switch 2 4k is capped at 60Hz but you can still play 1440p or 1080p in 120hz
Also make sure it supports HDR
6 years is the standard for PG games published by Nintendo, but with their staff exodus and Xbox moving to close ties I'd say it's dead, don't expect Nintendo to revive it, Taura is at Square Enix and Nintendo's purchase of the IP looked like more of a favour for Platinum.
That's dead too, Nintendo don't fund stuff like this, they've let so many studios just drop dead and regularly cut ties, even ones that have a history of success.
they have clearly shown power doesn't matter. S/V looks and runs worse than some day 1 Wii U games. they're just that incompetent.
Nah I want a tv because they're bigger. I'll probably get a 4K monitor down the road when I upgrade my PC.
Shouldn't be too hard to find but make sure it supports HDMI 2.1 because HDMI 2.0 is capped at 60Hz
Switch 2 4k is capped at 60Hz but you can still play 1440p or 1080p in 120hz
That's good to know, thanks.
Giving mine to my parents so they can have a bowling game that doesn't look disgusting on their 75 inch 4k TV.
that's probably what it looked like before they reduced the LOD and basically every visual effect they could to make it achieve over 5 fps.
Gamefreak hasn't managed to do it right this far, why would more comfort make them better?
I just got pic related for 730€, I found a pretty good discount.
120Hz VRR and HDR10. most people's TVs don't support that (and the switch 2 doesn't even support VRR for external displays because nintendo are retards).
Tendieism is a cult
hold my hyper potion
ever since Gen 8 I've completely given up on the series.
apart from how horrible technically they are, S/V are in my opinion the best mainline games in terms of gameplay. they brought most of the streamlining from Arceus to it.
I would definitely recommend Arceus at least, particularly if it gets a switch 2 update. it's a fresh take on Pokemon. ZA seems to be going even further with real time 3D battles, not sure if I really like that but it's interesting.
Loading times will only really improve for digital copies. That's why I rebought Metroid Dread and Pimin 4 digitally.
check response time, you want something that's <1ms
I played my switch oled like 95% handheld. I bought Hori Split Pad Pro almost immediately and used that the entire time. I'm probably going to do the same when joycon alternatives for the Switch 2 come out.
and the switch 2 doesn't even support VRR for external displays because nintendo are retards
they can change that in the future
Remember, she always comes back to you. Stay winning King.
got an email from nintendo saying preorder invites are starting to go out
There's still hope, I guess
with a new dock maybe, but probably not just with an update.
they can change that in the future
they can't, unless it's in a whole new model
Depends on the bottleneck, if there's a CPU bottleneck, definitely, but games could be limited by the software itself, games would also need to be installed on an SD Express or internal storage to take advantage of the storage speed increase.
SMK bundle, pro cuntroller and fbi camera. I also have a backlog on Switch that I can hopefully just download to S2 and start playing.
they don't need a new dock
not true
I know it's an issue with HDMI over UBS-C, it may be fixable with software but also may not be.
Gonna stick with my Switch not buying a Switch 2
Sony added VRR to my TV months after release
Whoever's left at Ubi Milan/Paris I doubt they're gonna be put towards improving those, tho it totally could use some them. sparks of hope's menu loading mainly
Kingdom's battle potential improvements are more gameplay wise, like letting you more easily get back to where you were when booting up the game if you were in the middle of revisiting a world.
Fuck it I'd buy a switch 2 edition upgrade to let me make mario-less teams
that's unrelated
the lack of VRR support, like the 60Hz limit for 4K, is due to the shitty DP to HDMI converter in the dock. they can't just magically make it better.
Your TV isn't held back by a USB-C connection. There isn't a converter for USB C that allows VRR yet. That technology does not exist so the dock does not have the ability to do VRR.
I was using both a lot but for Switch 2 I'll buy a big OLED TV for it so gonna use docked a lot more.
Just for clarity
The only working dock I have ever seen [for VRR] was the Steam Deck Dock, because it uses DP Adaptive Sync to HDMI Freesync, which is just Adaptive Sync over HDMI and does not need to be converted. But Switch 2 is Nvidia and will not support HDMI Freesync.
This isn't supposed to be some console war gotcha kind of thing, I don't know who the fuck even uses a deck docked. This is just a good explanation as to why the hardware itself isn't allowing for VRR.
On Amazon Canada I clicked request INVITE on Nintendo Switch™ 2 + Mario Kart™ World Bundle. When will I probably get the switch too and Mario Kart World?
amazon
lol
What?
nintendo's been cutting them off from preorders because they kept shipping their games early
Then why was I able to order on Amazon Canada?
The issue is with Amazon US specifically.
I still not finished TOTK. Can't wait to play it on Switch 2.
Mario Kart and Deltaroom, its gonna be comfy
guess it doesn't affect all regions
I think I have a number Nintendo switch games downloaded in on Nintendo cards that on in the Nintendo store anymore would I be able to get them to my Nintendo switch 2 when it comes out? Also what games are they doing these updates I heard about that don't require paying for more stuff if you have to switch one version?
Sorry anon, it was never a power issue. The Japs were able to crossplay the Switch version with the 3DS version, so they had to keep it at 30 for parity.
rushed development
absolutely no delays due to having to coincide with cards/anime/merch/etc
not particularly talented or motivated developer force
Unfortunately, it'll be more slop for the pokemon conveyor belt.
Gen 10 is getting four years instead of three at least, otherwise it would've come out this November.
It's better to think negatively when Game Freak is involved. They're also directly working on Legends 2 and that mobile battle sim game.
Z-A on S2 should be a good litmus test
Oops, meant for (You).
Bayonetta and Astral Chain are dead
Mario spinoffs are not allowed to have fun (or content)
Zelda is stuck in nuts and bolts phase with Aonuma obsessed over seeking innovation for the sake of it
Fucking grim
At least the Switch has games lol
Anyone else been checking up on the stuff they post on nintendo today with the switch 2? Sometimes they show off some neat things here or there. Today was just a thing of the new home menu sfx, plus the system makes a sound when pressing the gamechat button and turning on the system from the dock
twitter.com
Do you think Capcom will patch Monster Hunter Rise? I'm feeling like doing another character.
cute
2 switch 2 MK bundles (selling one to a friend for MSRP, not scalping like an asshole)
pro controller
GC controller
512 GB sd bullshit EX card
Cyberpunk
Daemon X Machina 2
Donkey Kong
I have the money, but modern gaming is still too fucking expensive. Also, waiting on other cases. Don't like the options present so far.
Is it ever okay for adults to play with toys? I'm asking this because I'm considering making a preorder but am a little nervous what my friends might think.
Fuck what other people think. Having fun is important. You aren't wasting your life, life's too short to worry about that shit.
Will I be able to transfer my pokemon games save data with ease for the switch 2? Or will there be some bullshit because it doesn't have cloud saves? I don't want to transfer everything, just xenoblade and pokemon.
Got the Mario Kart bundle, and will be playing that and Pokémon Scarlet now that the framerate won't be shit.
On Friday I got an email saying that I'll definitely get a turn to shop on the Nintendo store. I looked at retailers like Best Buy and GameStop but they all say coming soon and I couldn't preorder at the actual stores.
there are actually people here who didn't take time off work on Thursday and Friday
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING
Avoid
Paper Mario Origami King
Fuck you I liked it
Yeah, here it is.
Seriously you retarded faggot its Anon Babble, why the fuck would you believe anything someone here says is true? Some dude throws out a single fake politically charged story and you trust them implicitly? Dumber than Reddit in here now.
I don’t even have a fucking job
Walmart is putting a lot on clearance right now.
I don't have a job.
I don't know if my system will be here by then. I got overnight shipping from Nintendo, but they also clearly said that's not guaranteed due to demand. Either way, my job doesnt give a shit about notice. As long as I'm a few days ahead of the date, they will accept my PTO request.
The online pre-orders outside of nintendo opened for everyone in early may. There were multi-hour queues for some people. It was a madhouse.
I'm still on the fence with preordering, it has really weak launch titles.
If they updated all Xenoblade games I would get it day one for sure.
God I would kill fir a switch 2 edition of xenoblade 2
Seriously. Seeing that game run at 4K 60 fps would be amazing.
come on, Nintendo owns Monolith Soft. 10000% there will be updates
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition has a hidden 60 FPS mode, which suggests the recent game may have been future-proofed ahead of the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Essential Switch-core
Super Mario Odyssey
Pikmin 4
Zelda Breath of the Wild (unless you;ve already played the Wii U version)
Metroid Prime Remaster (unless you've already played MP1)
Breddy good options if you're interested
Super Mario Wonder
Fire Emblem Three Houses
Splatoon 3
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Xenoblade Chronicles (the whole franchise is available on Switch)
Whatever other 1st-party Nintendo ports/remakes you think you'd enjoy
Honorable Mentions
Octopath Traveler 2 (multiplatform)
Zelda Echoes of Wisdom (fun but too easy/simple)
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (fun, but too similar to BotW while not as good)
Disappointing
Mario Tennis Aces
Pokemon Sword/Shield
Daemon X Machina (maybe would be good if you're a MonHunfag)
Yeah, I was going to jump day one but none of the Xenoblade titles got updated yet.
I hope monolith's new game is a spiritual successor to X with improved mech combat. Just imagine what they could do.
That ratchet screwdriver sound for settings is really satisfying
Wow you're buying a switch 2 so you can play all of your switch games at a higher frame rate and resolution and enjoy a generation of new games? What a plebian, meanwhile I (pc master race btw) will be buying a 800$ GPU so the lighting looks different on 10% of games
When are they going to release absolute classics like Lego Racers and Tetrisphere?
Probably never unless they can get the licensing for them.
Blockout when
Mario Kart bundle, Pro 2, also secured a Gamecube controller. Nintendo's show-off of the controller sounds like it feels accurate.
The new gc controller looks great, but I wish they just made the new ZL button bigger.
kek well said
Yeah I get the reasoning behind it being a tiny button that's almost invisible on a silhouette, but damn if I wouldn't mind a second Z button and clicking sticks.
Mario Kart bundle+Carrying Case+protective shell+screen protector+pro controller.
In terms of games Bravely Default and i'm debating about Yakuza 0 Retcon's Cut and CP2077, but i really can't justify in my mind paying full price for either again.
kartin bundle
i might get a pro controller 2 later
Just the console itself, idgaf about Mario Kart, just praying that Bayonetta 3 or Astral Chain gets a performance update or something.
Real shame. I love those 2 games, and it'd be amazing to have them on NSO.
Yakuza Zero DC
Kunitsugami
Shine Post Be Your Idol
Donkey Kong Bananza
Metroid Prime 4
Elden Ring
Zelda TotK musou
I might consider Cyberpunk 2077 assuming it's no longer the disastrous thing it was at launch several years back
And I suspect pretty much every third-party under the sun, including Expedition 33.
This is a pathetic lineup, DK and MP4 will be ~10 hour games for $80, if any other game developer tried to pull shit like this they would go under very fast.
What the fuck is the recording feature details? Is it still 30 seconds? Can we stream gameplay like PS4/Xbox? Why are all these reporters and Nintendo showing everything but that?
Considering the state of Sony and MS, this is easily the most stacked lineup for 2025.
It's still 30 seconds, yeah. No word on if the quality's been improved.
DK looks similar to Mario Odyssey with bananas to collect instead of moons, so it's definitely a larger game.
And we already have other developers like Koei Tecmo pricing Dynasty Warriors Origins at 80€ on Steam, a game I do expect to come out on Switch 2 too. 60€ or 80€ make absolutely no difference to me since I have a job anyway.
I bought the bitch 2 bundle anyway, so im not baiting, but Mario Kart World feels so flaccid, maybe they're hiding details, but it is no way comparable to BOTW being a launch title. Really wanted 3D Mario and got shat in the face with DK and Kart Instead.
DK is $70, for starters.
Don't forget the fromsoft exclusive, monolith game, and Kirby air riders on the horizon in 2026.
Anyone do family digital loaning yet? My brother/his wife both appear on my loan options but they share a Switch. Didn't think to test at the time but I wonder if that means I could loan two games since one per account or no since it's one system.
Nintendo better make ALL their games from now on to have replays you can upload to some server or something, this is absolute bullshit it's still only 30 seconds yet current gen systems can record from 10 seconds to 30 minutes.
Why do PC trannies always come to these nintendo threads to make it about themselves?
Preordered the console and Mario Kart, but once it actually comes out I'm gonna probably get the zelda upgrades. I don't really care for the camera stuff unless they release a particularly compelling piece of software but they've never made good use of the cameras on any Nintendo system. Might pick up a cheap one secondhand later down the line. Once I get my console in June though I'll get the zelda upgrades.
nice reading comprehension dumbass
Anon, this is way better than what the Switch and 3DS had at launch, and Sony and Microsoft didn't even have ONE game for a couple years when they launched their consoles.
Given how good of a launch year the Switch 1 had with just about 1 major release each month, I wouldn't be shocked to see another direct announcing more stuff. Especially considering June is when E3 would've been.
Just the console. I have some Switch 1 games I've never played that I've been waiting to try with the new console. I would've gotten Mario Kart but it's a digital code instead of a physical, I'll wait for a sale.
The GC controller keeps tempting me but I'll wait and see how I feel after launch. There's definitely been a couple N64 games where I've thought "man I wish I was playing this on the original controller"
Speaking of the online classics, the excitement for the GC games has made me go back and play some more of the other classics. Managed to unlock Expert in Star Fox 64, beat all the cups except for the Master Ball Cups in round 1 of Pokemon Stadium, and currently almost done with a Fire Emblem Sacred Stones playthrough (this being my first pre-Awakening FE). Been super fun. Making me even more excited for the GC games.
The movie is coming out early next year, so they have to start marketing it later this year.
macaco seething itt
Why am I not surprised
