You’re meat if you get in his way. Canonically a legend of the corpo wars and lived up to hype in the final episode. He is literally "fuck around and find out" personified.

A literal game ender with busted stats, especially in Cyberpunk 2020. The kind of NPC that the game expects players to flee from, outsmart, or confront only as part of a climactic, probably suicidal mission.

Wanders around the room like a headless chicken and only has like 2 attacks. One where he tries to rebeccaSmash you like an out of breath BBW and one where he launches missles at you. Oh and he also calls for backup, but if you deal enough damage, you can make him skip that.

Honestly, Cyberpunk 2077 feels like a poorly written fanfiction when compared to the original TTRPG and other source material. I understand that V is meant to be the main character, but the way they handle Adam Smasher—especially in endings like “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” where V takes him on solo—is completely unrealistic and undermines decades of established lore.

The game tries to sell this idea that V is some kind of ultra-special merc, but that narrative doesn’t hold up. Prior to the Konpeki Heist, there’s no indication that V is anything more than a mid-tier merc trying to survive in Night City. There's no real lore progression that justifies them suddenly becoming a one-man army capable of killing a walking tank like Smasher. It’s like the game wants to treat V as a “chosen one,” but it never earns that payoff through proper character development or reputation building.

What makes it worse is how Adam Smasher who's been consistently portrayed in the TTRPGs as a nearly unstoppable full-borg killing machine and Arasaka's personal grim reaper is nerfed into a mid-game boss who goes down way too easily. This is a character that even legendary solos would think twice about facing. Having V beat him with no team, no power armor, and barely any support stretches the game’s credibility to the breaking point.

In my headcanon during that battle, a tank just drove into the wall, time slowed down and we see Adam bumping into it, stopping it, then dodging a direct fire, instantly firing directly into the tank's muzzle, which detonates the ammo, blows off the tank's turret and throws us out of the room. Optionally, Adam is torn in half and he chases us like in the first Terminator.

i did it recently on Very Hard and if you have even slight cohesion on your build he's not particularly difficult. He is so fucking resistant to melee (i was using a Blades build) though that the fight is a slog running around and dinking him all day so i ended up spamming the Malorian's alt fire which does like 8% of his HP per blast

Because the game correctly highlights Adam Smasher like the rpg does as this unkillable force of nature entity that will fucking destroy you if you try to turn the tabletop session into a Postal game. Adam serves the same role as Cain in Vampire or any Outer God in CoC or Lady of Pain in Sigil. They're there to strengthen the lore and to bring down any munchkins who start shooting every NPC for the loot in their pockets.

But then the game makes the mistake of making Adam Smasher a video game boss that the player has to beat for the story to progress. Adam would've been way better as a Resident Evil Tyrant type of boss that you run away from 95% of the gameplay type and only beat him by luring him inside an industrial machine or some shit.

I didnt like Smasher being the final boss since day 1. Its clear that they wanted Cyberpunk to have EVERYTHING and so they included Smasher as well. Cyberpsychosis and Vampire's "Beast" and "Masquerade" mechanics are also there to reel in player so they would actually roleplay vampires and cyborg gangsters instead of everyone becoming Terminators or full fledged demons in 5 minutes.

Adam Smashers, Cyberpsychosis and all that is most likely results of playtests when the buddies of the game maker developed bad habits from having complete freedom with mechanics and no challenging enemies.
