It is impressive that it even got so much stuff(9 seasons, comics, manga, games, an anime season, a DC crossover movie, etc) with that team of writers. To be fair the world was build on rule of cool logic and that creates a lot of problems but it feels like after v3 they barelly planned ahead and were reacting to their own story.

Blake being a princess is such a funny retcon because it basically reframes her as a champagne socialist yelling at "oppressors" who are poorer than her.
In their first interaction, Blake is (presumably for the first time) facing off with a Schnee, someone who represents the family that has brutalised her people. When she talks about their "controversial labour practices", she's referring to the practical slavery of her people that led to her friend Ilia's parents being literally blown up in a mine. When she talks about their "questionable business partners", she's referring to the type of people who would brand her company's logo onto someone's face.
And yet she does it with a little smirk as a little tête-à-tête with a little, spoiled rich girl, not with the kind of outrage or weight of someone who has really felt what the Schnee Dust Company had done.
Because (in a story that reframes Blake as a privileged girl who knows this stuff happens but doesn't truly feel these consequences, as she is from luxury and relative safety) this isn't her world. These are the experiences of other Faunus, and she is free to throw them around as little barbs to win a verbal altercation because, for her, these are just stories she's heard. Whereas for them, this is their life

Have a clear plan and stick with it. People are going to speculate and guess at any work because they're invested in it. And that's fine. Even if you do something fans don't like, as long as the narrative progression is clear.

The biggest problem with RWBY is that its progression is all over the place. They'll spend hours on the most pointless, milquetoast bullshit imaginable and then completely ignore critical plot lines or characters

I think what pisses me off about this is how many plot lines this killed. For starters, Weiss's whole motivation for becoming a Huntress in the first place is that she feels Jacques has stained her family name and she wants to undo that... somehow. Well what do you know, a living breathing embodiment of everything Jacques has done wrong is walking around right there cosplaying as Vergil. And he's marshalled the Faunus against humans in general but especially the Schnee family. Here's a golden opportunity for the character who started as racist against the Faunus to confront both the angry Faunus and victims of her father's Dust mines.

Penny is a subhuman asset born and raised for the purpose of serving atlas, who was given sentience on a lark and desires to live life as a normal human instead of as a servant of the state that owns her. Of course, as written adam would never be around her long enough to figure all of this out.

That's a pretty big assumption, something like that probably would've been brought to light well before that reveal. Or even any point after it. What I'm saying is that it's really contrived that all the anti-faunus sentiment in the series is extremely tepid, outside of this one instance of absurd prejudice that never goes anywhere.

It screams of stuff that got left on the writing-room floor, frankly. They probably wanted to keep Adam's presumably incredibly edgy backstory but never managed to work it in so it as well as his entire character was unceremoniously dropped from the whole thing. I'm not surprised something like this after the main creative drive of the series died prematurely.

So what's with the weird suicide analogy thing with Ruby? Yang was so frustrating in that scene. You can't really blame Ruby for not being fond of her sister's carpet munching habits, considering Yang cares more about her cat girl gf than her sister having a mental breakdown.

The race wars which are never extrapolated upon beyond Ozpin's surface level summary? The consequences of which are never seen except that faunus live on their own island but also actually freely live in all the other kingdoms and elsewhere? It's funny how Salem's backstory delved into a whole bunch of human history that was largely irrelevant to the story up to that point but managed to skip over that part.

Never really saw much of the show, only a few of the first episodes and some tidbits here and there because the animation was fucking jank to watch.
That being said, totally worked it to Weiss and Neo, shame theyre stuck in this.

It's been almost 11 months since VIZ bought the IP and they haven't done anything new it. They are releasing RWBY on blue ray again, one volume per month. Vol 1 is coming June. Other than that, who knows. Maybe volume 10 will be done as a manga or novel instead.
