If people knew the government accidentally opened a portal and aliens started invading they would be pissed, panic, and stop going to work. Behind the military is a civillian sector that supports the military-industrial complex. If the government couldnt contain it, it could spiral out of control. If everyone stops working, how is the military going to keep printing bullets, get gasoline for its trucks, and food for its soldiers? How are you going to fight an alien invasion when everyone starts rioting and looting and stealing from walmart? You gonna just take 80% of your forces off the aliens and dedicate them to keeping the civilians in line?

If anything HECU and the Black Ops would have been better used saving ANYONE from the government or military command, or even saving one library anywhere on the planet.

A lot of devs see it as a job, rather than a creative pursuit, and most aren't in a position where they're allowed that sort of freedom even if they did want to make use of it. It's why smaller teams will *always* produce better games
