Having 50% or more of the game be filler dialogue is by far the worst thing. And JRPGs have only been getting worse with that. Western games as well. You'll buy a game and it's 30 hours of gameplay and 60 hours of cutscenes/dialogue. And 75% of the dialogue doesn't add anything to the world or characters. It's just characters spending 500 words to say something that could be explained in 20. This is expected in something like Final Fantasy. But it shouldn't have been the case in Bravely Default which was following the job/exploration model of older games. And even Dragon Quest 11 fell into this trap.
