the hardest I ever worked in my life was a college job at a taco bell on a popular road. not having time to take off gloves that had melted to your skin during lunch rush was universal, everyone burned the fuck out of their hands. And the amount of people who would stand at the counter and scream because they've been waiting too long when its been like 5 minutes was insane. like brother I can look at the screen and see exactly how long your order has taken, it hasn't been a 'half hour' its been seven minutes and theres 30 orders shut the fuck up.
in comparison the job I have now pays about 4x as much and I could do it in my sleep.
But also in high school I worked at dairy queen for awhile too in a small town and that was really fun and really easy, so it really depends on the location how fucked a fast food job is.
ALSO I worked at dominos for a year or so in college and I just drove around listening to my music and made WAY more money than minimum wage from tips. Thats the ideal entry level job imo.

You'll find a programming job. Even if the faang jobs have gone to shit, there're still plenty of in-house programming opportunities at banks, insurance, etc.

Apply everywhere, and keep your skills sharp. Don't worry if your first programming job is shit and you're underpaid. It's experience, and that's how you stay out of dooming. Just don't stay longer than you need. I find knowing when to leave an underpaid job or asking for a promotion to be the hardest part, but it gets easier.

As for rest of life, make sure you get out, even if it's just treadmill at the gym or going for a walk. Doesn't always make intuitive sense, but it's good for mental health. Following college were some of my loneliest and most stressful years, but having that job kept my on-track.

Your situation will change when you enter the corpo world, and although you won't get to explore interesting technologies and CS theory at work as much as you did in school, you might find focusing on one or two programming languages easier to manage (I know I did, not doing prolog one day, Java the other, C the other...). You'll probably want to rent at the start or stay with parents if possible, but getting programming wages means you can afford to move around to find the right place to live (even more flexibility if the job is fully remote (there still are some jobs out there with this option)).

It can be hard in the moment to see the future. When I was in your shoes, I wasn't the smartest kid to graduate and thought I might not land a job in IT and languish, paying down $150k in student debt working a non-degree-related wage job, but the entry-level interviews came in, I got a few offers, and I picked a Java job over a Cobol modernization job. I sucked at it, and that made me feel incredibly shitty, but I knew a lot of people that entered school for CS and didn't make graduation with it. It's shitty to say, but I thought "Ok, I got here where others couldn't, I'm going to keep going. I have to do this for myself". Ten years later and my loans are nearly paid off. I don't have a fancy car with car payments, but I exercised and kept a circle of close nerdy friends, and I don't really pay attention to how my highly-debted coworkers live their lives.

Don't underestimate the value of a good manager too. I've had a couple good ones and more bad ones. Good ones will go to the bat for you and help you grow. When I told a manager once I felt like I was falling behind on my cards and I was staying super late, he said something to the effect of "then you need to try harder". Not advice worth listening to.
