Has a cultivation game ever done right?

I've only read manhwas, can't imagine this actually being a concept good enough for one

Tale of Immortal but the gameplay is shit. Great sect and relationship systems tho

What the fuck is cultivation

Chinese Marvel.

low level cultivation is basically dragonball
high level cultivation is basically dragonball z

basically, you cultivate power and become stronger in KUNG FU/GODHOOD

Fertilizing your soul to produce a bountiful harvest of power by performing inane tasks x1000000 times

it's autism for chinamen

Is there any hope of this game at least being half decent or is it courting death?

I tried making princess maker clone but with cultivation for a game jam but it felt too "chinese"y and too confusing for non cultivation story reader. It's impossible.

Chinese Taoism for the most part. Buddhist themes and other; cycles of reincarnation/rebirth and meditating to become the strongest there is.
Except one huge difference is how 'real life' Taoism preaches pacifism while most every webnovel is the exact opposite.

I never managed to get into cultivation, everything that was recommended to me had obscenely bad prose due to translation

due to translation

Lol. Lmao, even.

Power level wankery but for chinaboos

Your grandparents praise your cousin once over you, so you swear revenge and go meditate on a pleasing seashore for 10 years, developing the powers of supersonic levitation, blasting lightning from your fingertips and throwing giant rocks for miles. However, during your cultivation you have lost your desire for revenge, so you seek glory by fighting a dragon instead, but the dragon's extended family ambushes you, splits your body into seven pieces and spreads them across all of China, never to be made whole again. Your cousin, currently 10 years into cultivating in a princely house with perfect feng shui, may be the one to take vengeance by driving all dragons extinct and making you whole again.

Even though Meng Hao had the gentle aura of a scholar it wouldn't stop him from killing several people in a macdonalds.

Warhammer, but for Chineses.

spreads

more like blasted into a whole new region that is bigger and filled with stronger people than your home region. You trained for 10 year and got so many fruitious encounters yet somehow your cousin that stayed in weaker place is now at the same level as you.

What is the most petty thing someone has gotten killed for in a cultivation novel or whatever.

Not exactly right. DBZ focuses on training to get more power. Cultivation has training, but training is not how you cultivate power, cultivation gets power by taking it from those below the cultivator or just eating the right things. The kung fu shit is just a bonus for absorbing power and to properly focus and wield that power. It is fundamentally different from a system that emphasizes hard work and self-improvement to become stronger.

stopped reading

Im not a brainlet but I was slightly filtered by the tutorials. Im ok with all that and more up to spreadsheet games but its filled with symbols I dont recognize from a culture I know little about and understand less of, with the entire game being built around an esoteric practice within that culture that Id probably have a normoids level of understanding if I was already born there.

Unfortunately I wimped out and scratched the itch with a final Rimworld phase so wont get back to this for a few years.
All I need to do is cut wood and farm and shit but the tutorial is like "heres how to be an ant" , "heres how to be the eternal jade dragon emperor of the heavenly court" and everything in between and its a bit much.

what are some good cultivation manhua? i was trying to read cultivation chat group but eventually the pacing gets completely fucked

Chinese moral degradation doujiins. They are tales about how power corrupts even the best people. The protagonists go from protector of the little folk to complete sociopath because everyone around him can't stop him if he tried.

read a webnovel

asks for manhua

??????????????????????????

Powecreep: The Genre (Chinese Edition)

Pacifism doesn't equal being bullied by rat-faced young masters. Also nine clan extermination is cool and you are a frog in the well.

there has been a couple of times where anons at /isekai/ (Anon Babble) have shilled cultivation manwa or novels, but i always feel like the concept of

opponent is stronger than the mc

mc spends 10 years jacking off under a waterfall

mc is now stronger than the opponent and beats him

now the mc must abandon the whole reality they're living in and jump to the next one

wouldn't do for a story to be invested in. whats interesting/the fun in this concept?

This is so much funnier now that I've read over half of I Shall Seal The Heavens.

i have a very rudimentary understanding of the cultivation genre but these memes just crack me the fuck up for some odd reason

the emperor has gone mad! he's totally paranoid, trusts no one, arbitrarily kills talented scholars, and doesn't care about governing properly at all!

finally gets overthrown, with a throwaway line about him being right about their rebellious thoughts

new emperor starts to think that everyone is after his throne

repeat in 90% of chinese novels that have emperors

Starting to see why China was constantly ruled by foreign invaders if this is how they're going to write their own governments in fiction.

Maybe some quests but outside of that you will have to wait for AI CYOA for the real shit

It feels fucking weird reading Er Gen's next webnovel after ISSTH and there being little to no bag slapping.

The novel is great and the anime is looking bright.
A shame that its sequel became a meme lol

There's always a higher mountain, thus higher cultivation realms until you become an absolute true immortal, lower world won't allow shit because it's venezuela tier so once you are strong enough you jump the fence to USA.
Also jacking off under waterfalls doesn't matter shit unless your post-nut clarity allows you to understand the world and its laws, kinda like when you fap before studying for a difficult test.

It's not any better or worse than 99% of isekaigarbage, it's a wish-fulfillment powerfantasy.

Regressors tale of cultivation was so fucking good before the MC ascended. Everything was stellar besides the arc where the mc taught a bunch of kids.

read Beyond the Timescape first arc

miss grandpa IRL (he died recently)

good

none, but try (in order that I consider good to worst)
Apotheosis/Principles of Heavens: Zen's Cultivation of Immortality
Martial Peak
Tales of Demons and Gods
Rebirth of the Urban Immortal

Personally I'm a fan of absolute shit like
100,000 levels of body refining
Every sequence of events goes

Someone disses the MC

The dissing continues

(possible) someone of high status acknowledges the MC as the super hero he is

MC ruins/destroys the people who are dissing him

I've read quite a few Manhua over the years and this is my favourite chinese trope.
My second favourite is the MC always raping someone through some convoluted means
Oh no I was poisoned with horny drugs
Oh no we need to dual cultivate to leave this room or we will die
Oh no I am experiencing cultivation deviance and have temporary lost my mind and raped someone
Oh no a demon possessed my body and raped someone
Oh no this woman fighting me won't give up and I don't want to kill her, guess I'll just rape her to make her stop
These are all real examples

So the rape part is Rance with extra steps. Cool.

Oh no I was poisoned with horny drugs

...An Aphrodisiac Pill!

Oh no we need to dual cultivate to leave this room or we will die

I thought it was funnier when near the end, MC was roofied and dateraped so hard that his cultivation dropped and he was forced to reincarnate

In fiction? That's how their dynasties always ended up in real life, Han or not. If it wasn't the emperor that went murderous and tyrannical, it was the eunuchs controlling a child emperor. The mandate of heaven would legitimize foreign rulers as true emperors of China, subjecting their dynasties to the very same generational degradation.

Most of them... I don't even remember anything in specific because they all are the same
The one most interesting was in Coiling Dragon (I think?) was an emperor being forced to eat shit and get raped by hobos because he attacked the main character's kingdom or some other shit that was irrelevant to the story

So this is why I girls I sleep with call me an uncultivated swine.

From a past post I remember: while America was going through its civil war with ~600k casualties, China was going through its own civil war with ~60mil casualties, yes including peasants being killed for the most arbitrary of reasons.
You see how newfags act on Anon Babble all the fucking time? How they can't handle anybody disagreeing with them over the slightest concept and their immediate psychotic reactions?

There's one Isekai cultivation manga where the MC is a "honeypot," basically a waste used for a womans dual cultivation.
The power he gets is to astral project himself across the multiverse and functionally Isekai himself into himself of that dimension, at the moment of his death.
Each world has its own systems which he can bring back with him, but what sold the series for me is that he actually fucked up and the universe he isekaied to got destroyed by an eldritch abomination.

enlightenment in cultivation is i somehow learned to add an extra lightning bolt to my 32 (now 33) lightning finger dragon buddha destruction mt tai kunlun seven mysteries art transforming from bronze grade to iron grade

It certainly doesn't help that they believed in an extremely vague "mandate of heaven" that basically meant you stubbed your toe today the emperor must've lost the mandate of heaven time to organize a revolt to kill millions I'm the emperor now oh shit this guy shitted a bit when he farted I lost the mandate of heaven there's a multi million man revolt forming now. It's no wonder the emperors were all insane from paranoia.

What is the worst cultivation novel you've read?

It's Dragon Ball Z for Chinamen, but "tell" instead of "show".

Spirit Vessel, hands down. Specially because of the ending, it makes me seethe.

Western cultivation slop where the dude didn't even bother removing ChatGPT adjustment messages

I played wandering sword earlier this year. It's a pretty competent wuxia game with a neat progression system. and a huge cast. You can challenge most NPCs to a duel to mug them win their stuff and learn their unique moves. Mastering these moves then gives you raw power. The two main gripes I had with the game were that it had a LOT of missables and that it was pretty grindy overall.

Otherworldly Evil Monarch

>now the mc must abandon the whole reality they're living in and jump to the next one

In most of cultivation stories, this only happens once (mortal -> immortal)
If you read anything that this happens more than once, you are reading copy-paste trash
Also the perception of non chink about cultivation is inherently wrapped, because the trends for cultivation in chink land changes all the time as opposed to outside of it. Currently it is miseryporn with some tentacles/cthulu flavor

Oh yeah, and this is the average length of skill descriptions. Just par for the course.

get into cultivation

oh, misery porn.
well i guess im never looking into cultivation.

Every cultivation game I've seen is essentially everyone being a gigantic asshole and getting power ups.

What websites best for reading wuxia stuff

Immortal Life is fun

streaming webnovels

If you just want normal power fantasy, look for translation sites for cultivation like wuxiaworld and you will avoid most of those
It is only a problem if you actually look at top novels on qidian

I was happier when I thought it meant "farm isekai" like how the Slime anime is about the slime building a comfy monster village and making trade deals and shit

novelbin and ranobes

Its just such a funny concept and I love how serious they take it

Chinese mythology seems so shallow compared to Western mythologies

novelbin?

A lot of it got lost in the great leap forward.
It would be the equivalent of the west having to make do with Beowulf, The Ring Cycle and the Odyssey as their only completed works, then cobbling together a general mythology inferences and a few scraps found here and there.

Turns out that murdering every smart person in the country is a bad idea

new arc

everything from the previous 1000 chapters is now effectively irrelevant

Despite being such an obvious plot point in cultivation genre, there is rarely any novels that dig deep into comprehending the dao part
The only one I know of is Renegade immortal
Even the most shilled xianxia, Reverend Insanity, skip that part entirely by introducing a hack that is introduced as part of the world building

general mythology inferences

a general mythology from* inferences

that one that you can clearly tell was written by westerner, MC's disciples apparently are stronger than 99% of the other sect disciples that's been training for years while MC's discipled only ever sparred with each other but somehow turned into battleGOD in less than a month.

old arc finishes as hundreds of AYMs, powerful sects, and ancient cultivation families fail to get the almighty heavenly treasure fruit which MC finally obtains

midway through the new arc it turns out the almighty heavenly treasure fruit ain't shit, there are a bunch of them, but there's a new all-heaven almighty heavenly treasure fruit that all the AYMs and ancient powerful sects in the new area are gunning for

But you see, the mc has the power of college level western morals and "common sense" so he is much more qualified to teach demigods.

paragon of sin has a faceslapping scene with some scholar revealing that he fucked the protagonist's harem member before she met him and the mc says, i shit you not, you might have taken her virginity but only someone that's insecure over his sexual prowess cares about who his wife slept with before she met him. i couldn't stop laughing.

did I mention all of MC's disciples are women with special constitution?

How would you unite if every single tribe claim that their mythologys are more superior?

library of heaven's path?

Most of the paid by word counts hacks just copy specific part of Chinese mythologies and ignore the rest
It's embarrassing when the #561161514 adaptation of Investiture of the gods in 2025, one of the first classic that build the foundation of the entire genre, is better representation of Chink mythology than most of xianxiaslop nowadays
There is a reason why Cultivation + Cthulu is the current trend, they cant even copy paste from their own history properly

Doesn't that just make cultivators into parasites?

The most popular cultivation novel rn is literally called 'You can't cultivate if you're not rich' and is about cultivators being cartoonishly overworked and exploited in a hyper competitive society

Is china doing okay?

Except one huge difference is how 'real life' Taoism preaches pacifism

None of my studies of Taoism have preached pacifism. Compassion, yes. But the whole reason martial arts is so integrated into energy cultivation techniques is precisely so that you can defend yourself.

Though generally, the killing aura is enough to deter any physical confrontations.

You are waiting for a rabbit

Why do you think heaven want to kill cultivators everytime they level up?

First of all that's just from my longevity simulation, secondly that cultivation system was made as a ploy to weaken the world and allow it to be devoured and used to fuel the rebirth of another world.

answer me, what is the peak of the genre

MLS is just an extreme version of typical cultivation system, but the essence is the same
Another example would be the pathways system in LoTM, except you need to actually believe in your role instead of just pretending
Cultivation is supposed to be comprehending the dao along with plundering resource to grow stronger, but most of the hacks cant write for shit so they just skip the comprehending the dao part entirely

Sorry for your loss anon

My favorite cultivation setting is the Elder Scrolls.

Welcome to Chinese everything. They're jews with better food.

It's xianxia equivalent of some random Brit coming to China, taking a bunch of local heirlooms home and claiming to be practically Chinese

and yet its still one of the best ones

Ehhh, sounds like lord of mysteries to me. Nothing wrong with it. No matter how much you try to be authentic, you will never be truly accurate if you have never lived/breathed that culture

what culture

The peak of the genre is two ambitious farmboys coming to the conclusion that cultivation is gay and they should just work as farmhands for the rest of their life.

Has a cultivation anything ever been done right?
I couldn't keep reading it, but phrases from Game of the World Tree live rent free in my head. 'No endemic species can survive the stomach of a Han Chinese' hits hard

you fell into the lie that they had any culture beforehand

The archive is dead...AGAIN.

One of my other favourite tropes of chinese manga is that, suddenly, the current arc is now centred around chinese nationalism and showing the superior nature of chinese culture.
This is either through a martial arts contest against America, or through proving that chinese natural medicine is better than Western medicine.

I'm genuinely upset the game didn't get more popular in the west despite the video getting millions of views

and no matter how much propaganda they swallow, the chinese know theyre inferior to any western civilization

Eating dogs

basically this lump right here

You mistook chink with gook or something?
Chink manhua is rarely ever not cultivation for it to be in modern world for such trope to exist

Tsui Hark's movies Zu Warrior From the Magic Mountain and The Legend of Zu. I mean I think they're cultivation, the definition is still a bit nebulous to me.

There's several chink manhua that are cultivation and set during modern times for at least part of it
Manhwa normally consider themselves on par with America and have a co-operative relationship

why am i allowed to see the literary travesties that china produces? i thought they built a big dumb firewall, why doesn't it fucking work?

Can someone explain to me why do I see more Chinese historical clan/sect in gook murim novels than all cultivation novels I have ever read?
Emei sect, Quingcheng sect, Tang clan, Mount Hua Sect, Wudang sect,... these names constantly get mentioned in Murim setting but I have never once seen these names in cultivation novels

classic wuxia is more of korean genre at this point

Because peninsula chinese have nothing to talk about so they need to talk about what their ancient true Chinese ancestors did.

translation errors probably
I see the Tang clan marked as the Deng clan a few times
Wikiped tells me they are spelt the same

wuxia's only like a century old, this would make more sense if the koreans were continually recreating, like, water margin or something

Korea is less than a century old, so it makes perfect sense that a nation of Chinese people with next to no history would latch onto whatever comes their way.

Well the most famous cultivation story is this, this is the reason the genre became famous in the first place.

It isn't cultivation but thanks to the anon who recommended Regressor with Stories to Tell a thread or two back, it made me regret wasting time on ORV a bit less.

It's the most popular but not the best one. Every site will have Heaven's Offficial Blessing near the top 10-12 manga

Dont
The novel is shit

Soul Land is complete garbage, I wouldn't bother.

It is without a doubt the most popular cultivation novel tho

It is very basic and plain.

Is there one that deserves the praise it gets? in your opinion?

I've never read one of these before, where should I begin?

watch the soul land donghua at that point desu, it's the best version
and I'm only telling you to do that so you can read the fanfics that actually fix the plot holes

God, that also happened in a western novel, except that the women (who did it as a way to guage how "free" she was) was the one who whored, and the MC went, not fucking with you, "well you might have taken her pussy, but I have took her feelings", or something gay like that...Yes, it was written by a woman.

I journey to this realm seeking recommendations for novel tales of cultivation, guided by revered masters, and the sacred websites where such chronicles may be read.

Philosophical Daoism is based, religious Daoism is beyond the fucking cringe event horizon.

It's how China justified making any one who wasn't a farmer/soldier phenotype practice calligraphy and other inane bullshit for 20 years before becoming a low-level bureaucrat for most of its history. Even the highly-analytical Chinese mind required an escape from mandarin practice.

Yes, it was written by a woman.

Women do pretty decent romance but then they add shit like that. Too many male authors make a collect em all type harem MC cant just sleep with a woman and leave her for some reason.

That's just Chinese alchemy.

No thats mercury poisoning.

If you have never read a cultivation stories before, all those 3 are bad at your first read (except LoTM because it is cultivation-adjacent)
I will always recommend Martial world to people who have never read a xianxia even though it is the very definition of average because it is complete and contains all the trope a xianxia usually has
Feel free to drop it and read those 3 once you feel things getting too repetitive and you have understood all those tropes of the genre

yes

superhuman.png - 1383x484, 1.06M

kinda second this, except you might as well read the manhua at that point

It's funny that people always talk about Martial World like it's just average but honestly it's still way better than shit like Against the Gods, Battle Through the Heavens, Martial God Asura, etc.

It's because while it's repetitive and (at this point in time) very cliche, it's not actively bad either. It's like, good if you're new to the genre and simply inoffensively boring otherwise

Westoid cultivation story never works because they dont even know that despite never being spelled out by any cultivation novels, the philosophy and the way character think and act is closely related to Confucian philosophy
It is actually weird how influential Confucian philosophy is in Chinese culture but most people dont even realize they are practicing it everyday

Cultivation has absolutely nothing in common with the superhero genre

Superhero stories revolve around people who were either born with or granted special powers.

In cultivation stories, everyone has those powers, all it takes is training to unlock them.

we're not on Anon Babble

Cultivation is way more autistic than a straight level system

How many of these do you recognize?

don't they? their wanking over

In this life, I will only kneel before my parents! and

What is the most petty thing someone has gotten killed for in a cultivation novel or whatever.

Not even making eye contact with a jade beauty, but looking at her face through a silk veil from a distance and TRYING to make eye contact or make out what her face looks like behind it? Believe it or not, you're COURTING DEATH
Spiritual aptitude too trash? Killed on sight, shitty insect doesn't deserve to live
Spiritual aptitude too good? Killed on sight, better to deal with potential rivals as saplings rather than letting them grow up to be threats

you guys must understand that BL fans are completely mentally insane (not because of their sexuality, just on top of it) and go crazy over anything mildly decent that is BL so they spam it with 10 and 5 star ratings on every site possible
it's a bit similar how so many trannies become moderators, the content is so important to their self identity that they become zealots

It's more like a mystery novel with power levels
there's no school setting.

BL fans are completely mentally insane

I know we had a fujo infestation for too long on Anon Babble remember the final fantasy threads back in the day? Actual horror.

I mean, it has the "you know that guy who is super duper strong? Well he is generic sexual slave bitch 245645th of an evil deity who came from the dark dimension of skulls and gore"....But also traditional fantasy has that sometimes.

There is completely no romance throughout the entire novel
The mc travels alone most of the time
It has big foid fanbase because it already has big fanbase, like Lord of the Ring

that has nothing to do with superheroes, if anything that's just a shonen trope in general.
and it's simply because novels need progression and stuff for young men tends to go for more simplistic scaling progression rather than something complicated like tragedy or psychological. it's also much easier to write.

Cultivation is like roguelike. It is a bunch of clear concepts that were raped by a bunch of secondaries that removed the "icky" things out of it, and it somehow reached intreger overflow, so no one knows what it actually means. Except that it is xuanhuan for xianxia, and roguelite for roguelike.

evil deity

There is no real deity in traditional sense in cultivation story
Everyone has a chance to become a deity on their own

I see these BL novels in my local book store
They even sometimes advertise them extra hard as gay romance novels
This is right next to the kids section of the store

Cultivation bros...Are we fags?

that's fucked up

In my local bookstore its monster romance.

You think westoid would allow books about MC like this in their countries? RUMAO

Cmon nigger, there are alot of things that the average normalfag doesn't know, that has affected hsi personality down to the most intrisic form, this shit happens all across the world.

do they lose all their personality once they get fucked?
That has been the case for the few harem chink novels I've read.
It's like

jap harem: never fucks the girls

chink harem: fucks the girls but they become boring after the fuck

gook harem: get cucked get cucked get cucked

do they lose all their personality once they get fucked?

I hate this so much girls become background noise and bland after they get fucked So few keep most of their personality and almost never does the harem interact with each other no side quests rarely they help mc but thats about it. I really enjoy sidestories or like day to day of the harem interacting bickering or just like going on small adventures with or without mc.

For that particular novel? Unironically no
The slice of life and drama between mc's wives are more entertaining than all the fighting and cultivation that novel has (3 of those wives have blood debt with each other before joining the harem, you can already imagine the drama)

DC and Capeshit had those things for the...200th time in a row, in like 5 years, fuck, the entire shit is basically just a copypasta that came from Anon Babble to mock that shit.

ATG women are actually surprisingly interesting, at least for the admittedly very low bar of the genre

More like Chinese Dragon Ball Z/Naruto.

Top left looks like Mo Dao Zu Shi

What's the name of the novel? Against the gods?

In retrospective this is just "an ancient evil awakens", but I don't think that makes any better, in fact, it probably makes it worse

I scrubbed the novel name from my memory but I remember a particularly egregious one where a fun sword princess tomboy becomes a generic plank with no personality
pissed me off

A lot of you are, especially the ones who lose their nuts when cultivating too hard.

Can't be a futa

shit game

In LOTM, there is entire path full of tranny that is prophesied to bring the destruction of the world

You become god through martial arts, have a slave harem of raven haired pale skinned 13/10 women, and genocide a billion people who don't like you

raven haired

he doesnt know

women

What about the ferret girl who cultivated enough to take human form or the crow girl.

you can cultivate a pile of shit into god

cultivation thread

no meng hao pasta posted yet

Young master, you must go to the crossroads of Xung Tao city
There you will meet a young boy who is blind and tells you about the yellow bandits who are attacking the townsfolk
Only you can have the strength to overcome these marauders, young master. And rally the troops to a glorious victory for the army of the whites. Only then will the swan of benevolence be released into the Valley of Plains, heralding a New Dawn in the blindfolded boy.

has eyes but can not see mt.Tai

Isnt MGA is the one with the MC "Rape is a battle tactic" ?

Now you understand why the Chinese love it.

Bratty rapist MC, deserves cancelation correction!!!

Rape is a battle tactic

It is.

pop pill

meditate

power up

brutally kill someone who looked at you funny

repeat for like 6000 chapters

Omniscient Reader is so fucking garbage that I got mad at myself for reading 50 chapters of that slop. The same goes for Solo Leveling, but I actually finished it.

Solo leveling is worse in my opinion, like every story moment is made explictly wank off the MC to a boring degree. I legit laughed my ass off when the MC just fucking time travels instead of dealing with the consquences of his actions at the end, its so lazy and uninspired.

ORV might not be perfect but at least it's not completely generic and uninspired shonen garbage without a single interesting thought relying completely on good art
the best manwha is SSS suicide hunter (and I say this despite hating everything with SSS in the name), myst&might&mayhem and return of the mad demon

you courted death when your second removed cousin bullied my jade-like beauty childhood friend so now I'm going to mutilate, rape, murder, and eat your entire extended family including your dog

chinese see nothing wrong with this

china.png - 500x429, 97.11K

they are all fucking shit

It's DBZ, but instead of training you pop a pill or meditate.

"Shonen" is not a genre

i never said it was? retard

What even is rock gambling?
Is this a real thing that happens in China?

how can you not know at this point?
this is like asking who is nobunaga

Is Amazing Cultivation Simulator 2 even still in development? I remember those chinks being ridiculously paranoid that other chinks will steal their ideas so they stopped communicating entirely.

Taoism

Daoism. The first syllable is voiced in pronunciation ("D"), not voiceless ("T").

I read both the novel and the manhua of it and holy shit I still don't know why I subjected myself to it, especially when the end was so ass.

Reddit says yes, hopefully released this year
Steam says its dead Jim, company possibly involved in lawsuit
Steam also says it'll be more like an RPG and less colony sim

That's like trying to find hay in a haystack. Here's one I read yesterday though.

capture.jpg - 1151x487, 46.46K

holy kek

W-What happened?

That is hilarious

I read this two weeks ago and thought of these threads.

wuxia = think chinese medieval stories
people train to get stronger, nothing extremely supernatural but they can run on walls battle dozen men at the same time etc. basically think medieval
xianxia = chinese dragonball, literally
people will fly on fucking swords, eat a core of a mythical beast, eat a 1000 year old root vegetable that gives them 6,000,000 years of inner power, and lock themselves in a cave for 2000 years to breakthrough and go from rank 1 pingpong to rank 6 bingchilling, even though later in the story there will be 10 year olds that are strong enough to kill a rank 6 chingchong but it doesn't matter, once they finally reach the pinnacle they will ascend to godhood only to realize that they were living in a lower realm and ascending means going to a higher realm where everyone is 1000000000000000x stronger than them and the cycle repeats

you think I'm "exaggerating" or trying to hard but I guarantee you this is almost exactly word for word what happens in some of those stories

how can you not know at this point?

this is like asking who is nobunaga

well

I mean, who is nobunaga?

nobu.png - 289x370, 28.4K

Why doesn't the West have level up fiction like East Asia does despite being culturally capitalist?

Emperor Domination does that, but you need a strong dao heart to withstand the filler content to get to the wisdom pearls.

I mean, who is nobunaga?

She was a blonde samurai back in the day

He's the guy with the eye patch in charge of the gay musketeers

He's the guy who made samsung.

he made metal gear solid retard

the junior are neglecting their cultivation to shitpost on Anon Babble again, I see
you will never conquer your heart demons and surpass the heavens this way!

In a genre about psychopaths, Long Chen is probably the least psychopathic, so there was at least some reason for it. He traveled to a bandit city overruled by a criminal organization he's already hostile with. That man slapped to death was a hawker who pretends to be a guide to new arrivals and lures them to his gang's alley to be murdered and robbed. Long Chen's plan was to barge in in a big way and rob the organization, so he killed the first person with killing intent against him upon arrival to make a statement.

He's the guy with the eye patch in charge of the gay musketeers

baste. maybe we will yet live to see drifters finished (_NO)

Hero's Adventure is the best.

It's not some high tier xianxia but more like wuxia with cultivation.

No? Lu zhiyu, and Klein are far far more moral, what drugs are you? The only "bad" thing he did, was denying e*fs immortality, but fuck them knife ears

I want to at least see the black king jesus christ reveal

has junior never read a single scripture? you are courting death

They have believe themselves to be the literal center of the world for as long as they have been able to write about it. Anything less than overkill is not enough punishment for someone slighting you personally in any shape or form.

Turn based

FUUUUUUCK
I WISH I COULD ENJOY THESE FUCKING GAMES GOOOOOOOOOD

oh. thanks for the reminder. all these years i thought i dropped it because it was so slow, but it was because the gook was having some fanfic wank with jesus.
im quite far from a christcuck, but such irreverent pathetic wank was far too much for me.

play tale of immortal then

Meng Hao had the gentle air of a scholar, but it wouldn't stop him from killing several people in a McDonald's

Gets me every time

I'll always shill Immortality (Yong Sheng) because of how good (well written, with characters growing mentally with gainz in their cultivation level) donghua it is and is never mentioned

I'm 1264 chapters into shadow slave and the best parts were nearly 1000 chapters ago

Tale of Immortal is so fucking good. I still can't believe they crammed so many mechanics into one game.

have no idea what this chinkshit is

"cultivation" to mean implies cultivating power through training, meditation and testing yourself

actually you can just gobble up a steroid pill that does all that shit for you

what's the fucking point?

What.gif - 220x208, 903.89K

I know that feel many times the first and second arc are amazing then it just get worse with few highlights after that.

If ORV is considered the best that manhwa has to offer I shudder at what the slop looks like.

Try reading/watching/playing something good next time, bub

like what?

Now i want to know, Whats the worst slop and whats the best slop?

I recognized it for the aimless progression fantasy it is and dropped after the first arc

It has a real time mode

meant for >I shudder at what the slop looks like.

Tomb of Arial is absolute kino, don't worry.

Read the thread carefully

You can challenge most NPCs to a duel to mug them win their stuff and learn their unique moves

Octopath had a similar character with this mechanic. In fact this pretty much looks like chinese octopath. Not that it's a bad thing, love that game.

Dropped when it was revealed MC would be nothing more than a bottom bitch to the super strong and smart and flawless female lead despite swearing numerous times to never serve anyone. Also, what is it with western xianxia/litrpg stories and having the female leads do the most atrocious shit while writing it like they did nothing wrong? In a bunch of them they also make it so the female lead is super high spec and her entire journey is 100% smooth sailing, contrasting to their male lead who frequently fights for their life and ends up damn near crippled in every arc.

I share a board with people who read this slop

HOLY SHIT KILL YOURSELVES

Does lord of the mysteries count as cultivation? Because that was a good read. The sequel sucked unfortunately.

I'm 1264 chapters into

you people don't actually read this shit, right?

this is a real anon's shop music.mp3 vibe

they crammed so many mechanics

Does it ever deviate from the formula of grinding elemental orbs + artifacts to go up then pop a few pills and repeat in the next area?

it's slop, but it's fun slop
now kowtow 500 times before I erase your clan to the ninth generation

skip that part entirely by introducing a hack

yeah it's called the writer lmao

There is yerin

Hilarous how the most famous Cultivation story are Danmei

sociopath that will do anything for power to cope

gets pwned because he acted too cucky

Is vergil just a cultivator

What's hunter/portal?

why is chinkshit so evil and sociopathic?
and then they pretend like the protagonists are super moral and righteous after committing mass murder?

junior thinks he can comprehend the dao of the sword

Idk but it's funny. Gookshit is equally sociopathic but there's a layer of seething resentment to their slop that I can't stand

It's not "fun slop," it's genuine sludge for your brain.

If you narrow your gameplay to that then yeah

It does, they just try to be less honest about it because they're embarrassed of the genre, but LitRPG is already very popular within Fantasy/Apocalypse, just check Amazon

Yong Sheng protag is nice

Shit like Solo Leveling. That premise is extremely common in South Korean Manhwa.

it's fun slop

it's not, it's actual garbage

It's like the absolute worst of self insert power fantasy garbage and power level shit, combined with word vomit purple prose chink autism. Genuinely horrible stuff, though hilarious in extremely small doses done exclusively in parody.

It's still refreshing to read after enough Japshit where an elderly man reincarnates and still acts like a stammering 16 year old, but it makes you wonder how these xianxia worlds have trillions of people when conflicts that start with "this guy looked at me and I didn't like that" always end up slaughtering families, eradicating sects, annihilating countries, and destroying planets.

It's a metaphor for China's population problem. Everybody just fucks all the time because they get wept out by the bajillion.

muh irony

Faggot. Like it in its true glory

portals to monsters suddenly appear

people get video game pop-ups telling them about "missions" for beating those portals

people enter them to "clear" them for rewards such as equipment and "stat" boosts

the plot twist ends up having to do with gods and MC becoming a god

I don't know why gooks love this shit so much.

after committing mass murder?

Mao saw a sparrow eating rice so he had his people chase and kill sparrows, as a result the insect population exploded and caused a famine
One of the bloodiest conflicts in history happened because some guy failed his state exams dreamed he was Jesus's brother and then started a civil war in china.

Young master send henchman number 1,2,3,4,5

If you beat him, his brother from higher realm from famous sect will find you

What would you do if you were in MC position? Reminder if you surrender he demand you to kowtow and then cripple you. It doge eat doge world.

move to a high trust society without chiggers who will try to assassinate you for looking at them for 4 seconds too long

No, because it's shit. The parody part wasn't about liking it ironically. It was about enjoying posts/stories that make fun of how god awful the entire concept is. I view serious cultivationfags in the same category as self-insert isekai haremfags, subhuman filth.

Sorry the other societies are across the ocean which has monsters no qi and is several times longer than our oceans. Also when you get there they are shamanic tribes

doesn't classics like Narnia, Three Lions or Peter Pan count as isekai?

Does space jam count as a isekai?

I'd say most of the properly renowned novels (not the ones with 6000 chapters, but the others that literally everyone will recommend you) goes pretty deeply into the dao. Including things like Regressor's Tale of Cultivation, Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality, Tales of Herding Gods, Desolate Era (and others by IET), Renegade Immortal, and stuff by Er Gen
The problem is that authors don't just want to be seen as a copy of Er Gen, and he's already done all the shit like the daos of True and False, Life and Death, Karma, Reincarnatioin, Null and Infinity, and all that shit. So all the highest level concepts are either off the table or you need to make up some bullshit thing 'after' them to not have your character constantly being compared to Wang Lin or some shit because they use the same abilities

That's just the cliche-spamming slop. The good stories are mostly philosophical, about keeping strong in the face of adversity, and ultimately how to let go of the shit that makes you mad/accepting the past and yourself because if you're always pissed then you'll just fucking explode, literally, while trying to go to the next level
What a lot of people don't understand about Cultivation, and Chinese novels in general, is that they aren't paid 'per book'. They're paid 'per chapter' so they're incentivized to keep shit going forever with half-assed plots. So there's a ton of 'rinse-repeat' plotlines. If you go to any community that talks about the stuff regularly, they'll give you a pretty good list of novels that actively avoid those cliches because no one wants to read 10 books about them. Those cliche-spam novels are pretty much exclusively for entry into the genre because they do a good job of getting you used to concepts

China so buckbroken and mogged by Europe they delete them from their fantasy settings

are they for real?

are they for real?

Yeah but not just europe they write about japs too I remember they made a japanese enemy who was incestuous and cannibalistic. You cannot get through most chinese novels without them shitting on other cultures.

By enemy i meant the entire other half of the world was them, they got genocided by mc of course.

he doesn't like dumb fun

Why the fuck would cultivators care about Europe. What are you expected to do, upgrade them to cosmic knights?
The entire knight and magic genre is about Europeans given powers and even in their own stories their greatest feats are cutting a mountain in half or some shit. They could barely compete in a Wuxia, let alone cultivation where the literal first step is infinitely beyond anything literally anything in European fiction

you may see them as bloodthirsty psychotic freaks but chinks are just par for the course to every culture that wasn't turned upside down by the world's only based Jew

Jesus Reimu.png - 942x1176, 1.4M

I have a theory that the amount of retarded DBZ-tier planet-destroying shit is directly proportional to how authoritarian and miserable the cultures that spawned it are. Like you say, at best legendary European heroes would split mountains in two while buckbroken jeets and chinks would write about continents being annihilated

A. Imagine liking things
B. You are on Anon Babble, the same place where the jannies have admitted hating its fanbase

Cultivation stories are all about law of the jungle. There's a number of stories where the main character intentionally maintains their sense of virtue, but there's four major things that make most cultivators sociopaths

they live forever; good luck remaining you after 5000 years

the world has incredibly limited resources past the first few tiers, so you have no choice but to fight for them, sit on your ass waiting for them to be delivered to you, or wait for 10000 years for some new thing to grow that fits your needs

part of ascending to godhood literally comes with giving up humanity; to maintain humanity makes the path way harder. Similar to how Buddhists (which are also in cultivation stories) need to give up their mortal ties, including their personality traits, to ascend

they can literally wipe out reality if their sneeze too hard. All it takes is one asshole who really wants to be an asshole to ruin it for millions of good people. If you aren't strong enough to stop him you, die. So you have to compromise on the other three rules to get strong enough to keep your people safe

The good stories about maintaining your humanity are all complete fucking tragedies because you're going to lose everything on the way

It's no wonder the emperors were all insane from paranoia.

You would be too if you were king of an area bigger than the States, with no harsh terrain so it is easy to traverse the whole thing. While this allows a centralized government to retain control, it also allows revolts to topple the centralized government extremely easily.

That is very retarded anon, that is like complaining that lotr doesn't have xianxia stuff

The word choice/vocabulary needed to read even the trashiest chink novels is higher than most normal western books.

The good stories

I find it difficult to imagine there even are good stories. The Chinese seem incapable of writing anything worth a damn

Xeleee says hi.

Vague interest in cultivation from the Sseth video years ago, didn't pursue it

Read Beware of Chicken, enjoyed it enough

Read Cultivation Nerd really enjoyed it

Started reading Between Beast and Buddha, basically some money pulls a Wukong in a cultivation setting

Got any recommendations for me to read?
My standards are having basic grammar and the story not being abandoned. Preferably male mc but I wouldn't mind a female mc if she's batshit insane in the anime yandere sort of way and not the usual real life bitch way.

No it's directly proportional to ancient religions. There's no conspiracy. Journey to the West was like 800 years ago, and Wukong literally jumps out of his own universe in a second yet it turns out he was still inside Buddha's hand

All of Eastern religion from all of time immemorial is about there being a whole clique of universe-busting entities who preside over the 3000 worlds that sentient races exist in. President Pooh Bear fucking wishes it had something to do with him

Communism REALLY fucked them up.
They were already evil and sociopathic but it got raised to new levels.

Journey to the West was like 800 years ago

and Qin Shi Huang was 2000+ years ago. The poor fuckers have totalitarianism and ruthlessness built into their souls.

Then you're willfully ignorant. The top 10% from any field in any culture are going to be incredibly good at what they do, regardless of the remaining retarded 90%. Spend 5 minutes asking on any community dedicated to this shit and you'll find stories better than Game of Thrones or whatever else you consider good. The only issue is finding a good translation

Reverend Insanity, for example, was so good the government literally had to ban a rival author managed to work his way into government and was so terrified of being usurped he lobbied to ban things used in parts of the story

You inadvertently proved anon's point. Buddha was never this god that can make the universe his bitch. He was just some jeet that supposedly found enlightenment and tried to teach others the same. He was made into a Marvel superhero over the centuries by cultures that watered down Buddhism, i.e chinks. So the chink need for DBZshit predates even Buddha.

Spend 5 minutes asking on any community dedicated to this shit and you'll find stories better than Game of Thrones or whatever else you consider good.

I don't think any chinkslop could ever hope to match anything by Gene Wolfe, Tolkien, Pratchett or Jack Vance but nice try.

Reverend Insanity, for example, was so good [spouts random shit unrelated to the quality of the series]

and?

You go back 2000 years in any culture and everything is a ruthless dictatorship and slavery and retards peddling their religions as the cure to all worldly vices
China accepted that anything religious is fiction and turned it into a source for novels; America turned their religion into a mental illness

He was always a god that could make the universe his bitch bro. He was literally predestined to become Buddha in the original scripts. It's the entire point of why he has 'eyes that can see the past and the present, letting him predict the future and all that shit' and the mediator of reincarnation. The future Buddha guaranteed the past Buddha would always become Buddha; the process is just something anyone can technically do, by attaining inner peace which only you can decide for yourself

It's not just chinks. Early Christian missionaries in Scandinavia claimed that one stumbling block in converting the Norse to Christianity was that they kept asking if Jesus could beat Thor in a fight.

940302

genuinely expecting tolkien level of quality on WEBNOVELS

Retarded or baiting?

it can't exists because I don't want it to

Okay retard. I'm sure your books about a gnome with a napolean complex that can't go 3 pages without turning into smut has no equal
Tolkien himself said a lot of his inspiration came from Chinese dramas lol

A Will Eternal remains my favorite, but it shouldn't be read until you have a solid understanding of the genre because it comedically plays around with expectations.

Ancient Godly Monarch is one I'll recommend for now. It's complete, and it had an actual translator and editor instead of just machine translation. That qualifies for your bare minimum, but I also enjoyed the story itself quite a lot. Through the whole thing, I only remember disliking one arc, which was early on (learning in the masters' cave with MC's rivals). That arc was tonally jarring, but once that was over, the story only went uphill.

I enjoy these threads because its full of fun and playfulness.

mentions America unprompted and out of nowhere

I see now, you're just a retarded Chang. 2000 years ago most societies in Europe were confederations with primitive parliaments, a society of freemen with rights and privileges and open debate in moots. Even Rome was an oligarchic republic. China, however, always, was a totalitarian hive.

Mahayana fanfiction is not the "original scripts"

Tolkien himself said a lot of his inspiration came from Chinese dramas

do you have any proof, Zhang? Because I know damn well he said LoTR was a Christian story with influences from German, Celtic and Finnish legends like Beowulf and the Kalevala. Not "pencil dick gook commits war crimes #899"

I dunno why people give Against the Gods shit. Yeah it's full of cliches but it's also the best revenge porn I've seen in cultivation novels. Maybe I'm biased towards it because it was only the second cultivation novel I read (ISSTH was first) so the tropes weren't tired for me yet, but I enjoyed it a lot

China accepted that anything religious is fiction and turned it into a source for novels

This for Japan too, in both countries a lot of people believe(d) in a mix of multiple religions
Religion is a form of tradition though, so for such tradition-oriented countries, not much has changed

Spend 5 minutes asking on any community dedicated to this shit and you'll find stories better than Game of Thrones or whatever else you consider good.

I didn't mention that, anon. The other poster said it.

more like why the fuck do none besides the chinese touch upon it in their media? like where the fuck are the cultivation anime and games?

cultivation anime

naruto

Give it 10 posts before it brings up how American culture is centered around niggers, they always do that.

I miss All my disciples are big villains

you can find better quality stuff than mainstream by lurking

Isn't the same as

give me tolkien

Battle shonen is entirely different from cultivation.

you'll find stories better than Game of Thrones or whatever else you consider good.

or whatever else you consider good

I consider Tolkien, Prachett or Wolfe good, so I ask you. Which xianxia novel beats Tolkien?

abloobloo rights and freedums as far back as 2000 years

Rome literally existed because it completely obliterated every surrounding civilization and forced a dictatorship over. It had the freedom to focus on 'muh freedoms' because it didn't have anyone to compete with so it fought internally until it created a structure. Literally the same shit the Qin empire did

Mahayana fanfiction is not the "original scripts"

Wiki article

picture only rules out omniscience but literally nothing to do with predestination, which the entire philosophy of Buddhism was built, that everyone is inherently an incarnation of Buddha

the very philosophy that let it spread in the first place, because any random farmer could find inner peace without needing to donate money or whatever

literally the next paragraph down literally states that pre-Mahavastu Buddha is transcendental, just walking the world spreading teachings

China has a ton of games and media about it bro. It's just never Westernized. I can give you 5 different MMOs I was desperate to play that never came out in English, and it's the biggest genre there so it's talked about everywhere. But at the end of the day it's like fantasy elsewhere. Everyone knows of magic and dragons, but only the people involved with the field care that much about it.

it's about the journey

Naruto is almost exactly xuanhuan though. The only dividing point is that its cultivation realms are labeled by exam and not breakthroughs.

stronger by cultivating spirit energy and sect techniques

powers defined by five elements

spirit beasts

sect vs sect competition and warfare

clan exterminations

cultivation realms (genin, chunin, jounin)

sect leaders decided by personal strength

It has the image of but not the full body.

talking about 2000+ years ago

but how do you explain things that happened a thousand fucking years later

I dunno man. A faction that never forms can never unform

that's nice cope for your sociopathy and all so how do you explain the development of separation of powers, early representative democracy and liberty in the noted brutal and violent late Middle Ages when the English, French, Germans, Italians and Spaniards were fighting any and everything around them. They were all vastly more "free" than even Rome was even while surrounded by threats.
Rome still had it's republican tradition while fighting the Carthiginians, Macedonians, Egyptians, Germans, Gauls, etc. and only became a dictatorial empire after destroying all external threats.
But you're just a fucking Chang so you seek excuse after excuse for being a sociopath.

The absolute worst parts of Naruto kind of are, funnily enough

I'll just inherit this ultra super technique from my prior incarnation (who is part god) that was never hinted at before

hard work? Nah, I'll just sit here and have a couple thousand shadow clones spam random shit until it clicks for me and I ascend to the next level

the chinese are incapable of producing anything of value
xianxia is dogshit
wuxia(written by gooks) is pretty good.

You are courting death, gweilo

>Rome literally existed because it completely obliterated every surrounding civilization and forced a dictatorship over.

Rome actually conquered the majority of its territories as a Republic.

lol seething chink
Rome was a REPUBLIC

written by gooks

is pretty good

Names? Most of the manhwa I pick up turn out to be shit. I did like Legend of the Northern Blade but the ending was rushed.

I have spent the last 108,000,000 chaos eras courting death and the bitch is still ghosting me.

It's chinese. The chinese value being a scumbag. A virtuous chinese person is a lying, cheating, murdering thief that gets away with it, so naturally their stories will reflect their true values.

create strong military force

organize use of military force through politics to prevent rivals who want control over the military force from getting justification against

kill everyone who doesn't agree with you or turn them into fighting pit slaves

make your slaves rush to their deaths to take over more land while the people creating the """civilized""" rules sit on lawn chairs while eating grapes

b-but w-w-w-w-we were c-civilized

Rome's republican nature was only a necessity because it had to absorb multiple cultures and the person at the top struggled to get all their fighters to agree with them. Your "republic" meant nothing when Ceasar just killed you for any arbitrary reason
Rome wasn't spawned in as 100 people agreeing you fucking retards

yes, because you're not courting her

everyone recommends me Reverend Insanity as the best xianxia

it's just another chink "aura farming", as the zoomers say

I think these retards just can't write worth a fuck and it's all slop.

Can someone post Tolkien sperging because narnia didnt have child rape?

What technique did Naruto inherit from Ashura? Ashura's whole thing was that he didn't inherit anything from the Sage of Six Paths, he instead developed his own power through hard work and forming bonds with others.

Sasuke is reincarnated from the talented older brother, Naruto is reincarnated from the talentless younger brother.

there a reason literally every nation surrounding china still to this day hates china and theres a reason literally every civilization in romes footprint larped about how they were its TRUE(tm) successors and all the rich learned people larped about how cool and superior latin was forever
korea literally risked getting their shit stomped in by ming just so they could have their own variety of moon runes.
China was a horrible ruler/neighbor

aura farming

on RI

Nigger fang literally faps a wolf lather on the story, wut?

utter ignorance of Roman history the post

The first 200 chapters are aura farming because the MC's future knowledge is still useful and he's dealing with the equivalent of children. Ants even
Pretty quickly his future knowledge means fucking nothing and he starts taking losses everywhere, albeit calculated

all of east asia hates each other, nothing new
every nation hates japan too, for example

sasuke and naruto are chosen ones

Fuckimg garbage, is this from Boruto?

No, from the end of Naruto.

The Roman military was staffed by CITIZEN SOLDIERS. There were no fucking slaves in their military and the soldiers had to provide their own weapons and armor until the Marian reforms. The Roman Republic was held up by landowning middle class farmers who could barely afford one slave at most.
The Roman government was run by a massive senate who elected 2 fucking consul/presidents who could only serve 1 single year, a more stringent term-limit than any democracy has today.
Nice try Chang.

aura farming

There's an entire arc where he turns into a burned beggar that people can't even stand to look at. Solo leveler would never

Chronicles of the Heavenly Demon
Volcanic Age
Return of Mount Hua
Return of the Crazy Demon
Just off the top of my head.
I think I dropped northern blade not long after its timeskip/hiatus, it just sort of lost me.

do you think Rome was run like FNV's Caesar's Legion you actual fucking retard?

it gets good 200 chapters in guise

Nothing new (the flames that china spent its entire existence fanning continue to burn) indeed.
Which deified emperor was it that codified the bribery to buy your way into government positions?
Which emperor was it that resisted the urge to have an infinite harem of kidnapped slave girls and stuck to having one wife?

durr the military had NO SLAVES bucko

Slaves were given the choice between being slaves or being in the military. It was a semantic definition. The choice between being a slave until their master thought they were cool enough to free, or being someone who has a 5% chance of not being a slave if he runs at the enemy's spears is still slavery

It's good from the start thoughever

I never said it was bad in those chapters. I said that if you just want the MC to constantly eat shit then you'll be waiting for a bit because he's dealing with people he's 100x the age of, with future knowledge on top
The early chapters show how frivolous he can be and how he's willing to do absolutely anything to get ahead, no matter how unethical

As another anon said, Korean shit is even worse because everything is a revenge plot. Why do they fucking hate each other so much?

Roman chattel were literally considered property with zero legal protection

the word voluntary comes from Voluntarii which was used explicitly for slaves given the choice to conscript or remain slaves

Wiki article

about a period over 500 years into the empire

where everything I talked about already happened

lol
lmao
Retard is just grabbing at straws

Wait this is actually kino

korean revenge stories tend to have the MC calm down and realize "damn I probably earned some of that huh" and keep their revenge to just the people who actually stabbed them in the back or whatever
too many chinese revenge stories turn into infinite revenge cascades that destroy entire sects worth of people

is this really how little Chinese people know about Roman history?
No, retard. Slaves were never allowed to join the Roman legions.

Looking at the "power fantasy" crap Korea shits out gives a very interesting glimpse into their culture.

There doesn't seem to be any behavior standards expected of the rich, powerful, or famous. There doesn't seem to be any notion of "with great power, comes great responsibility". In Korea, it seems like achieving wealth and power is viewed in the same sense as achieving transcendent morality.

Heaven's Blessing is the top of all of them, with the lowest on these sites being 30

Is it that good?

Chinese infinite cascades are justified in-universe though. It's not pretty, but at the end of the day half the protags in basically any gritty combat world, not even just Chinese novels, are born from families that got completely wiped out but missed a couple people. It's just that in the Chinese novels, that Chinese protag assfucks whoever killed his family
Chinese MCs are basically given a choice between be merciful and risk someone else turning psychotic or just wipe everything out to make sure absolutely nothing threatens you

Asians love powerlevel crap
Westerners love to use their media to spout their beliefs

it's baffling how this nigger just never stops getting stronger and more inhuman. Absolutely no struggle, no genuine setbacks, no flaws, just soulless robotic sigma-male faggotry. How is this even appealing to anyone?

Japan also has a fuckton of media that's just the author spouting their beliefs

I just gave you the very words to look up. Or can you not find those pages in the Wiki articles you Ctrl + F through out of desperation?
Slaves weren't given even the slightest modicum of protection for hundreds of years. They were the entire foundation of Roman economy. The evolution just went from arm-twisting conscription with bullshit semantics to hiring slaves to train as soldiers because they were cheaper than people with rights. Nobles did everything in their power to get a militia made of ex-slaves so that their kids, upon going to war, would get guaranteed merits and rise ranks faster than others. Slaves were a meatshield at every step with only slightly more humanity being given to them along the way

south korea is a cyberpunk dystopia so they want a power fantasy to self-insert into

If you want to see ideas about rich people being good, you have to read their medieval europe fantasy styled power fantasy, they liked talking about noblesse oblige in those. But yes, look up "Chaebol" and realize that Samsung has korea by the balls and can do whatever it wants to them and that fact fucks them up culturally.
Korean MCs across all genres exhibit greed in a way where you can tell that being greedy isn't a bad thing to them, its just expected.
Yeah its justified in the setting, because the setting sucks. The jade emperor needs to wake up and vaporize all of humanity.

Why would you half-ass your revenge quest? Chinamen is right on this.

The entirety of VS Battle is DC comics beating every other form of media. Power scalers fear the Xianxia

its babies first tower/portal manhwa, I have no fucking idea how it got so popular and even got an anime.

guy kills your parents

you wipe out every single person who shares his blood on the entire planet

I dunno seems pretty fucking based to me

What the fuck are you talking about? China has a literary history that far surpasses any other country in all of history and still make great works to this day.

I can guarantee you that if any random person was given the equivalent of nuclear weapons, and far worse, in the palm of their hand, it'd be a hell of a lot harder to keep humanity stable
When people can live forever and easily become stronger than Goku, being reasonable is a result of self-sacrifice because you're going to have to sacrifice something for it unless you're literally just 'the strongest'.

Sure, if you ignore the part in Roman history where slavery declined rapidly, manumissions became standard procedure and freedmen ascended to the ranks of emperors, dux or legate.
But all this is semantics, because you were retarded enough to pretend that Rome wasn't a republic when engaging in its conquests or that having them or the European civilisations that came after it which did develop civil liberties are acktually the exact same as the chinkoid hives that still to this day has no concept of liberty or the sanctity of life.
I don't know how your retard ass got past the Great Firewall, but you need to go back.

Sounds like propaganda to keep low level workers' morale higher

China has a literary history that far surpasses any other country

America literally mogs them and they're only 200+ years old and that's not even mentioning Europe.
They have 4 great novels worth a fuck and everything else is dreck.

Ni Hao
Maybe my problem is just not liking how high the power scaling goes in xianxia compared to wuxia. In all the wuxia I've ever read even the top 10 would get mortally wounded if they fell for the classic "I put a lot of normal mundane bombs in this building I lured you into". And even the omega evil world destroying heavenly demon gets killed when everyone else gangs up to stab them to death.

ignores the entire first half of the empire where everything he doesn't like is there

b-b-but the second half was k-k-kinda reasonable for slaves so I win..

The entire argument started with Rome being a tyrant that just happened to become more reasonable over time as political necessities kicked in. You have done absolutely fucking zero to prove otherwise and have only proven me right. You're just so fucking desperate to prove that you don't have dogshit taste in fiction. I'm whiter than you are you spastic nigger

it's more like

guy mildly inconveniences you

you exterminate his entire bloodline, his friend group, his wife and newborn son and everyone calls you righteous and good-hearted for it

as an incel i dont like chink powerlevel or western political projection. i only want cute anime girls doing e/xs/treamsports and then cooking and baking and gardening and tea and biscuits. my soul is tired.

Genuinely what pushes someone to moralfag on a chink thread about novels of dubious quality? Moralfag (on fucking Anon Babble), having an ego trip (on fucking Anon Babble), le ebn pretending to be a baiter?

Yeah man, China has such great literary history, that's why everything they write is a remake of Three Kingdoms, Journey to the West, or some cultivation shit

Japan is your only outlet I'm afraid. the other nations haven't caught on to the rich genre of "cute girl says a wikipedia page about the authors hobby at you while looking cute"

Yes it is but only the animation which upped the romantic aspects significantly

its okay bro, these boomers just don't get supreme edgekino like Rooftop Sword Master....

Top 10 in Wuxia surviving a room of bombs? I don't know what Wuxia you've read but anything at all that has a Heavenly Demon, Daoists, or Buddhists would ignore that
If it's a traditional Wuxia setting of third, second, and first rate martial artists, then the peak, and then the "almost transcendantal" ones at the very top that are on the verge of ascending, basically anyone at the level of peak can just outright ignore bombs. Not with their skin (though Buddhists could do that), but with bullshit footwork and intuition. Being considered above first rate, by definition, has you as a Dynasty Warrior character slaughtering hundreds in a second

I'm not a fan of infinite scaling Xianxia either. It's why I just don't go after the 6000 chapter turboslops. Just avoid Er Gen novels and only read the ones critically-acclaimed other than him

Not really. The entire genre is exaggerated so it's easy to exaggerate like that, but I'm quoting something that was actually in renegade immortal.

how do you feel about dragon ball z

The entire argument started with Rome being a tyrant that just happened to become more reasonable over time

no, the argument started because you sucked Chink Emperor cock and used the excuse that they were able to mellow out over time only because there were no external threats. An idea that is retarded because as I said, the middle ages was just as violent and brutal but civil liberties developed there despite the fact it was 1000x more fractured than China is even at the worst of times.
The alternate explanation, of course, is that chinks are just nature authoritarians that can't help themselves, because even while the Romans were also authoritarian compared to Germanic or Celtic tribal kingdoms, they still held civil liberties as sacred and important to their people.
Now fuck off back to Beijing.

Er Gen has done irrevocable damage on the xianxia genre reading any of his novels as your first foray into the genre will brick your enjoyment any future novels

The thing is that most of the CGDCT (cute girls doing cute things) genre is in the seinen demographic. I.E. it's aimed at adult men.

You'd have a hard time marketing a series like that to adult men in the west.

1000x more fractured than China is even at the worst of times

Okay this is just retarded, any actual /hit/ fag, or even a midly not retarded Anon Babble fag would laugh at you. I mean, I don't renember the time the roman empire lost 40 million people...

I mean you can seethe about China all you want but there are tons of great Chinese writers even in the modern day

Wtf even is a jade beauty? Some green tinted slut? i dont get it

You are so unfathomably fucking retarded it's unreal
Rome spent half its time with no extended fights with enemies because it conquered them all in an instant, and outside resistance was built up over the course of hundreds of years of them establishing themselves internally. Rome was a dictatorship with a "for the people" (but not the majority of out citizens which were slaves) skin slapped on top

Real. Even his worst novel is better than 99% of the other fucking garbage that exists.

didnt the writer get really mad at the netflix adaptation or something?

Jade isn't exclusively green.

I still go back every so often to reread renegade immortal and ISSTH

daoists

surviving literally anything at all

unless they pull a "actually I was 10000000 li away merely observing with talismans" then they'd absolute get turned to salsa.
When I said mortally wounded I more meant 'will die if they don't get treatment'. Plenty of stories I've read either begin with, or have some arc center around someone having placed a bunch of purple thunderbolt bombs somewhere in order to kill some big name cultivator. They usually survive just long enough to get stabbed by the guy who planned it, or to get saved by someone who did not eat a room full of bombs. either or as required by the plot.

female equivalent of a rare gem, with an appearance that makes you diamonds

Ancient chink grindset to become a god

My journey was something along the lines of

Desolate Era

Renegade Immortal

Tales of Herding Gods (then hiatus hit at the best parts)

Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality

40k Years of Cultivation (dropped at 2k chapters)

Reverend Insanity

tried to read other Er Gen novels but they all became slapstick comedy shit

And some minor stuff inbetween and a lot more novels after that. I'm glad I had that blessed entry and didn't fall into the trap of Martial God Asura turbodogshit, and right from the beginning I've been only reading the peak stuff. I cannot fathom the minds of the people braintrotten by mega-cliches and MTL translations

6595 chapters

Novel is basically him going to a new world/region/universe/cultivation system and face slapping everything

Rinse and repeat every 200 chapters

Still somehow enjoyable

How did he do it?

images.jpg - 190x266, 12.36K

how can he slap

1, not all jade is green
2, jade is just the very best stone ever so its short hand for incredibly absurdly beautiful.

Considering they changed the chinese main character to an african he might have been a bit insulted.

but not the majority of out citizens which were slaves

Roman citizenship does not have the same meaning as modern citizenship, you retard

le hand behind the curtain man

plot so deep he resets the universe and entire cultivation

absolute wew i kneel dark crow man

How did he do it?

probably more to do with you having shit taste i would imagine

Daoists are the foundation of Mount Hua and a couple other of the common sects. They're literally Sword Cultivators in a world where they can't actually cultivate, and the people who lay the ridiculous formations that trap people with magic. They just cut through explosions with bullshit reasoning the world just accepts it because they believed hard enough
Daoism in Wuxia are borderline reality warpers bro. The only stories in Wuxia who don't make them OP as fuck are the ones where the MC just doesn't have to deal with them because they have to fight the Demonic Cult 99% of the time

nip isekaishit

chink cultivationshit

gook hunter gateshit

Who one is the sloppiest of sloppa?

of all examples you post the astroturfed dogshit given pity awards and constantly fellated by inferiority-complex chinks online?

Reminds me of the chinese web novel about becoming a chinese guy becoming president of the USA and bringing slavery back.

does it matter? they are all shit and the people who read them deserve the rope

Litrpg, that shit is virtually universally vindicated.

quick rundown?

Have you read it? Post criticism, now.

America literally mogs them

dude I'm American and American literature sucks ass, if you were forced to study that shit as a kid you would understand why so many Americans are illiterate and hate reading.

I mean gooks seethe at japs in every single manhwa

In my mind there are two types of daoists
1, the ones who use swords, essentially the exact same power level as everyone else except all their stuff is cooler and they get more respect because their roots are absurdly incredibly deep making 90% of the other sects look like milk drinking babies in comparison
2, the guys who just hold a fan over their mouth and are casting literal magic spells with formations and talismans. they are either literal deus ex machina or will job horribly, no inbetween.
when someone explicitly says daoist I think of the second even though I know it broadly covers wudang, mount hua, kunlun, etc.

UM AKSHUALLY ROME WAS A

kek the only thing people remember about rome is when it started becoming like shit

remind me of the USA today

westerners writing stories based on japs writing stories where they get cool level ups just like dragon quest!
except its written by westerners so its worse(you understand the dumb nerd references and can cringe at them)

So they're either Guan Yu or Zhuge Liang.

"Isekai" isn't a genre

Most of them are just typical stories of whatever genre they're in except the protagonist is from "the real world" which usually stops mattering once they've figured out the world and its mechanics

Well modern american literature has boiled down to two things now, medieval fantasy and dystopian teen rebellion novels

dogshit prose that's more in place with a webnovel than an award winning sci-fi novel

characters exist to spout ideology and philosophy instead of be characters

implausible plot built off a premise that you have to jump through a dozen hoops to accept even by sci-fi novel standards

clearly given a fucking award so the SFWA could say they gave a gook a prize

It is an exercise in how pretentious and up-his-own-ass an author could possible be.

I get what you mean, but ultimately it's just because it's Daoism. The very philosophy is "either you get it or you need to try harder until you do". And the problem is that once someone in a Wuxia world 'gets it', literally nothing matches them. They're reality warpers with the only thing holding them back being how much the author wants to wank them or how much they fear their story becoming cultivation. They're the guys who would become the MCs in Xianxia novels if their world had enough energy available
When Daoists are written 'as intended', the only organization that should be able to match them is the Heavenly Cult. Which is realistically just "the strongest guy in the world who is about to ascend" + "the biggest army that makes up 1/3rd of the world's population". It really sets the tone for how daoists need to be nerfed for any traditional Wuxia guy to be the strongest

if you read enough isekai you'd know exactly what anon means when he treat isekai like a genre

doabrothers...please cultivate a new thread before the sect elders sentence the thread to 100 years of isolated cultivation

I have to say I hate gook hunter more than anything else because they unironically they that they're cooking.

It feels the most ai slop out of all of them too

Chinese sloppa and Jap sloppa at least have the ability to write stories that can engage the reader.

Korean trash legitimately feels like a bunch of prompts put in and shat out

just because your schooling system failed you doesn't mean it failed me. There are a shitton of great American authors that mog China in every conceivable way.
and America itself gets mogged by Europe.

dont worry daobrother, one of the my senior brothers mentioned that these elders have a fake nascent soul and aren't even given spirtual stones for their contribution to the sect

Both Japan and China really like to show off their traditional culture in their manga/manhua but I haven't seen Koreans doing it to the same extent. I wonder what happened there.

Korean trash legitimately feels like a bunch of prompts put in and shat out

it certainly will be that way in a few years time, and i cant imagine the retards who enjoy them will be able to tell the difference

The only time I see it is when they wank off Yi Sun-sin for blowing out the jap navy

as much as I hate xianxia I do like when a story will mention "yeah cultivators used to be much stronger in the past, and sorcerers used be an absolute terror" and sort of imply the worlds energy has gotten used up/everyone ate all the good elixirs in the past. Living after the worlds golden age is fun.
I've noticed most stories just sidestep the Daoist Problem(tm) by having their sects just stay the fuck out of things until the heavenly demon/the inverted heavens shows up and forces them to balance the scales.
You have to read the historial ones set in joseon if you want them wanking about their history. (Its still mostly them being mad at china and japan)

I think America has some great Authors.
I think China has more variance of great stories through it's history.
I also think that a lot of American stories that are part of it's "cultural history" suck fucking dick and get overinflated.

I fucking despise Moby Dick
but confederacy of Dunces is one of my favorite books

I think American authors have an ability to think in self depreciative ways that other countries writers cannot.
Europeans can to some extent as well, but less so, which is why notable works like Don Quixote stand out in their repertoar while in American literature, self-depreciation is common place

dunaces.jpg - 636x1000, 91.09K

As long as your cultivation story DOES NOT contain

a system

an isekaid MC

4000 chapters

I will read it
I will drop it in 200 chapters if I read hamfisted romance or at least two tournament arcs or two young masters, but at least I'll give it a try until then

their traditional culture

What, being treated like a bitch by the foreign invaders that ruled China?

Well at the very least you have read it.

what about a reincarnated MC?

I liked Desolate Era and Reverend Insanity so it's not a huge deal, but I prefer it when the MC is just an inhabitant of the world. No modern day knowledge poluting them, not constantly comparing everything to McDonalds and ramen, just a guy dealing with the shithole he was born into

Chinese world hoppers are at least better than korean ones, who inevitably feel compelled to waste a good 30 chapters worth of words bitching about the availability of cola.

koreans are really the americans of asia and its so fucking funny how much their isekai mcs cry about missing fried chicken and cola

2-3k is optimum 2bh enough for 3 stages and some comfy world travel anything beyond 3 stages is pure slop

Chink cultivation slop general thread
Not Vidya

I agree there. I like 2 - 3k but not more. I'm the kind of person who starts losing interest towards the end of the a novel because I feel there's no more 'mystery', only 'answers', and the world-building mystery is why I like these crazy fantasy worlds. More than 3k chapters and I know the author is just farming per-chapter webnovel bucks, less than 1k and I know I'm about to read a speedrun story or I'm going to start dreading reaching the end in half the usual chapters
RToC is one of the exceptions, but also the chapters are like 4x as long as other stories so it's basically 2000 chapters

The vidya stuff was answered early. You have Amazing Cultivation Simulator and that's it. The other Chinese martial stuff is all Wuxia. The few potentially good "cultivation" games extra are eternally trapped in China, untranslated

You should read Cultivation Nerd, because it Has an isekaied MC, except he quickly realizes he has to adapt his behavior to the world around him or he's going to die. Also the isekai is probably recursive, and he is likely from the cultivation world originally but intentionally isekaied himself to Earth then back again to escape the eyes of Heaven.

Did he bang the crazy bitch yet?

What are you even talking about?

I just can't take Earth > cultivation world or back seriously. There's always some stupid reason why the gigaimmortals haven't just nuked Earth which literally makes meme parody novels of those very immortals, and any immortal that can find this mythical Earth should have already conquered it before civilization existed. Particularly since they could probably just time travel

The Heavens don't like Immortals and do everything possible to depower them, including randomly dropping magical nukes on them out of a blue sky this literally happens. Immortals in the series basically spend every waking moment building sects and walls and traps and gathering minions around them to use as a shield against the next calamity the heavens send to gank them.
Time Travel in the series is a catch 22, because foreknowledge of the future makes the future immutable, whereas if you're ignorant of the future, then you still have agency. Hearing a prophecy causes the prophecy to crystallize and it will always come true.

You lost.
