As somebody who was a teenager in the early 2010s, I have to agree that I too miss the days when Dragon Age II being so at odds with Origins or Mass Effect 3's still to this day egregiously awful ending was as bad as it got with the western gaming industry's corporate bullshit to say nothing of DLC and how many companies not just EA abused that to lock already made content behind a paywall. Even that is small potatoes now compared to lootboxes, ESG/DEI checklists, or brand new games now costing 80 dollars on average just for the "standard" edition. It's not that I look back on the early 2010s with rose tinted glasses, I don't, but in hindsight, its weird to think Bioware's initial fall from grace with DAII and ME3 was merely a prelude to how much worse they and other western game studios would become throughout the rest of the 2010s to now in the mid 2020s.
