Expedition 33 Stats are out and they are not looking good

Steam

59% finished Act 1

50% recruited Monoco

37% finished Act 2

25% finished Act 3

Xbox/Gamepass

only 29.5% of Xbox players made it through the Ancient Sanctuary

This achievement, taken from Gamepass Xbox/PC, doesn’t even mark the end of Act I

over 70% of players dropped off before even getting there

For a 30 hour game, this is a disaster, apparently most people bought the game because of the massive marketing campaign, dipped in for 20 minutes or so then left.

Also, most of the side content in the game is barely touched according to achievements.

quite frankly i can only enjoy a game if the numbers are high

a quarter of steam players have already beaten a 50ish hour game game in under a month

That's actually pretty good for steamies. Most games have a very low completion rate unless they're 2 hour long puzzle games for your girlfriend to play because she's taking a passing interest in the hobby.

For a 30 hour game

Game took me 100 hours to complete and I haven't even done the endgame side stuff.

be level 23 at old lumiere

get eviscerated by OP boss

lol come back in 20 levels after being forced to do all the "optional" content

no

Howlongtobeat estimate the completionist at 60 hours.
You're either lying, or seriously stupid

You're just bad

Took me 85 hours for 100%

apparently most people bought the game because of the massive marketing campaign, dipped in for 20 minutes or so then left.

that's just how the vast majority of normies work, this applies to 99% of the games released

Nah I actually take time to explore and don't rush shit. Some Vtrannies have like series of 6+ videos at Act II with close to 10 hours each video.

40% were so disappointed at the end of Act 1 they dropped the game

This is unacceptable

this is some bargain bin seething. Seriously, fucking F tier thread. Is your Discord this hard up? This is fucking insulting. A simple Steam Charts

this game lost 90% of its players after one month, btw what does single player mean?

thread would've at least been a C effort.

Did you know most people have jobs and families and don't finish RPGs in even a month, anon?

this game is 30 hours tops, this is not bg3

Hype sales from retards are just there to get the numbers up. You really think everyone turned into a hardcore gamer and beat Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3? Or dropped it before Margit and the goblins?

NTA, but you can't complete everything in 60 hours unless you're using guides. I have done a lot of the post game content and wandering back to old areas for stuff like White Nevrons or completing Monoco's skill list, not to mention the Endless Tower and figuring out a build to beat the superboss in the Abyss will take over 60

Pretty good for jrpg slop

Do you know how many hours people with a job and a family have to play games each day, anon? Sometimes its 0 hours. Sometimes it's 1-2 on weekdays, more on weekends.

apparently most people bought the game because of the massive marketing campaign, dipped in for 20 minutes or so then left

You can beat act 1 in under 20 minutes?

II think it's safe to say that people who want to 100% something use guides. I think very, very few people are actually scouring whole games to find that hidden audio log or collectible.

As long as normalfags are funding my artsy games I don't care if they finish them

if you got to old lumiere at level 23 you didnt just skip optional content you literally just ran away from every mob you could and refused to engage with the game so you could cry about it on Anon Babble. I didnt do any side content and I was a much higher level than you when I got there. I also didnt really grind.

A lot of people just don't finish games. It's relatively normal to have ~30% completion rate

90% of people never finish games, look at the trophies for every game ever.

Oh shit oh fuck, that means they have to return the money from their...urm 3.3 MILLION sales?
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA
Sorry doomfag, E33 won. Stand and fight a battle you can win.

Is Anon Babble ever going to stop seething over this game?
I swear like 3 different schizos were mindbroken and born from this games success

Cleared the game today

had been wandering around doing act 3 shit

kind of got bored, ran out of mini-dungeons to explore

everything left was just optional bosses and shit

went to next objective

whoop Renoir BADLY at level 60

Oopsie! You found the end!

Hadn't even maxed out my fucking social links.

You know you can dodge all attacks, right? There isn't a single fight you can't win at even level 1.

It's the same guy creating thread round the clock

I think most people are kind of a mix. Like they'll waste a lot of time wandering as long as the wandering is fun to them, but will eventually look something up if they can't find out how to get a specific item they can see but can't reach. But then certain things they'll look up instantly like a puzzle that seems too troublesome or bother with. So it kind of depends. This can lead to extended play times for people who do a lot of post game content. I tended to play this way and it took me around 70 hours to get through most areas, but I wouldn't say I'm close to "100%" since I don't have every pictos or all Monoco's skills and I'm not at level 99 either. I've just been to every area.

I think very few set out to 100% something (or they think 100% means all achievements which isn't real 100% usually). Those people will likely use guides heavily. But I think they are probably no more than like 5% of the players.

25% of people beat a single player turn based RPG

THIS IS A DISASTER

5% of people beat the highly coveted, long awaited remaster of one of the biggest WRPGs ever made

T-THIS IS GOOD ACTUALLY

file.png - 1172x99, 27.06K

in a 30 hour game? show me. Also, if 70% drop the game before Ancient Sanctuary that's a massive drop of players that checked the game on gamepass but didn't want to spend more than 20 minutes in it.

i wonder what the percentage of those were

oh this is like muh final fantasies

oh parrysloppa... okay...

oh more parrysloppa

even more parrysloppa

nah fuck im done parryshit does not belong in turn based games fuck soulsniggers ruining games

oops over 2h playtime 1hour just cutscenes

You can't dodge being eaten by the Bourgeons.

You can always go back and do the rest. Game is very good about post game and not forcing you into NG+

actually that's just the prologue, act 1 is a couple of hours after landing on the beach until Verso joins

You can't dodge the blight wave or the superboss' 1 hp attack. Or There may be a few others.

NTA, but you can't complete everything in 60 hours unless you're using guides

Nah, you can. It's just a matter of approach. I beat the game around 60 hours and the only thing I ever used a guide for was to see if I missed any hidden boss, which for my playthrough was only the one in The Crows.
If you do side shit, specially overworld side shit before doing story stuff, you become strong enough to trivialize story content that you'd be doing at that specific point in time.

Yeah but I kind of don't care. If there's no more dungeons and just build autism left... why bother?

muh metrics

You don't really need to parry or dodge at all until postgame. Main story is definitely doable without it.

Just got done 100%'ing it

For a 30 hour game, this is a disaster

lmao it is always great when some high schooler tries to pretend they are some sort of fucking market analyst. Tortanic mindbroke you fucking tools.

I played on expert totally blind with no guides and cleared all optional act 3 content except for Simon by the 60 hour mark. The endless tower and Clea are really easy for postgame content.

I probably missed some tints and random cosmetics that I might be willing to use a guide for so I don't have to scour every last inch of the game map again, but shit like completing Monoco's skill list is free af because doing the endless tower literally just does it for you.

And? 70% of people haven’t even gotten the crowbar in Half Life 2

All the dungeons should get you to level 90, not level 60

PFFFFFFFFT HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

Fuck I meant 30% of people, other way around

I'll echo that Simon is the only fucker in the game to genuinely beat my ass into submission. I figured it was either like an hour or two of learning his pattern or googling the nuke build that I know exists.

Nah, Endless Tower and Shadow Gestral Arena aren't dungeons. I cleared the two little optional dungeons that exist.

I cleared all optional act 3 content by the 60 hour mark

except the optional act 3 content I didn't clear

Okay.

If all is left for him to do is simon, it's about 5 minutes of content left.

They are to me and SGA takes like 10 mins so no real point in including it with ET. Endless Tower is basically the most fun thing in the post game besides Renior's Drafts.

I blasted all of the optional content with glass canon shield spam on everyone. You can juice every character to like 400% damage and just throw shields on them forever for when you sometimes fuck up a dodge. As soon as this dickhead was like "lol took ur shields" on his first turn I knew I was in for a rough time.
One boss and a bunch of random collectibles I didn't notice my first time through. That is not going to take me 40 hours to finish completing. I think you just played the game slowly if it took you that long.

He probably missed other things, see:

I probably missed some tints and random cosmetics that I might be willing to use a guide for so I don't have to scour every last inch of the game map again

He probably missed some pictos as well given that statement since they're basically placed as randomly and scattershot as the tints

I hate this genre of game. Its unplayable.

Should have been a Soulslike

Yeah see you don't get it. Build autism isn't fun. I don't care anymore, I already beat the final boss. The only thing I care about is exploring beautiful environments and finding loot.

burgeon eats the only party member with a break skill equipped

alt f4 and redo fight

Fuck this retarded boss.

Hm, I wouldn't call pictos "content", but whatever

Those are good numbers.
Most people don't beat videogames at all

I never looked up any builds. I just used what was fun or looked good to me. It's Simon that needs builds, not ET. Simon is not fun.

To be honest I pirated the game, but then later bought it since I want to see more shit like this in the future. Game is sitting in my steam library with zero hours clocked in while I am preparing to fight Simon.

Thank you for supporting the devs, anon. This is one game that does deserve it.

of course. game is garbo. astroturfed shovelware

I'm not talking about looking shit ip. I'm saying all that's left is fighting optional bosses who aren't placed properly inside challenging dungeons. Which means there's nothing left but build autism because that's all those bosses represent: a challenge for me to make a build to defeat

I'm probably going to do the same when it goes on another sale because I'm a cheap cunt. This game has probably already turned over a gargantuan profit but I'll take any excuse for a second playthrough.

Zoomers: the thread

That statistic barely registers in the mind of wrpg faggots. The main questline is that much of a complete afterthought to them. It's all about wandering around aimlessly in a drab sandbox and hunting down trivial one-off quests and interactions and achievements. The main baddie is only acknowledged when they completely run out of jingling keys to pounce at

Based patrician. Normies only exist to buy the games I like so they look profittable and keep existing. If they finish these games or not does not concern me.

Ho no OP don't post that
You'll make the ex33 faggot have a melty again and he'll spam the fucking board again

I wouldn't really call any of the dungeons in the game challenging, mostly its the bosses that sometimes are. I understand the mindset of wanting environments and/or immersion but I also appreciate just battles as well so I can go either with side dungeons or side battle lists.

those numbers are above average
if you're in the wage cage and have kids free time is almost non existent

I am stating facts here and they lost their minds like I attacked them personally. Obviously the masses are not enjoying or even playing the game as much as they are trying to show. The play hours in this game is so low for a 30 hour game.

Can't dodge being inverted as well I think.

I hear you but after clearing the game on hard mode, I'm not really craving more challenge. Especially Simon, who sounds fucking retarded with 18 hit combos.

This is probably why you don't see any gameplay or story discussion on Anon Babble either, just incessant shilling.

I am honestly getting sick of all of the astroturfing.

fighting Clea

most of the damage comes from Maelle doing 500 000 counterattack damage

Clea's health steadily going down as long as I don't let her heal

suddenly she summons a Bourgeon

it swallows Maelle

rest of the fight took like 30 minutes without her

I should have just restarted the fight.

I didn't even know she could summon a burgeon. I had a Verso OTK build going and just handed him the picto that turns physical into void. Imo Clea was kind of a jobber for an epic postgame optional fight with big lore implications and all that.

Yes, Simon after phase 1 is ridiculous. I don't think he's worth the trouble either. It seems to either require planning out a build just for this one specific boss, testing it and failing a bunch along the way; looking up an internet build which is kind of like "Why even bother then?"; or become a parry god and parry 18 hit super fast combos, which isn't my idea of a good time.

Who's this sweaty faggot?

Why do people still do the soi face in youtube video thumbs about video games? Is it really worth the embarrassment?

nyooo, but Milania is the best boss ever ma-ACK

these arent people

This is probably why you don't see any gameplay or story discussion on Anon Babble

Did you missed all the verso vs maelle shit flinging?

It seems to either require planning out a build just for this one specific boss

This is what makes rpg superbosses fun though. I'm honestly glad the game has at least one (and only one) encounter that actually forces you to stop autopiloting and actually think about how to strategize. It's the only boss in this game that feels like an actual turn based boss fight rather than stacking on big damage equipment and parryslopping your way through everything.

Even worse. Streets of Rage 4 is a 1 hr beat em up and only about half finished it once. Most people do not finish the games they buy.

It gets more clicks.

i dropped it after 8 hours. its not a jrpg at all and the combat is not turn based. after the initial pretty colors you're left with a linear game hardly worth exploring with a boring parry battle system

I've played DRPGs with less horrific superbosses. Mainly because at least the DRPGs I've played (SoSC, Etrian series, etc.) tend to not force you to make a build to completely shut down your opponent because that is the only way to win. Simon feels like there's no way to win unless you come up with something that kills him in a few turns because ain't no way I can dodge those combos.

based real gamer who is not brainwashed

Linear

You didn't play long enough
Also it's as turn based as Super Mario RPG, or Shadow Hearts

C'est fini

not Je suis fini

You don't have unlimited continues in SoR4 though, yes?

Those are amazing numbers for an RPG

OP actually likes the game

made a shitpost OP in order to get his thread bumped

NTA but the game is very linear.
It's not CoD-levels of linear because there's a couple dungeon and a world map, but the dungeons themselves are just one big corridor.

for a 160 hour RPG yes, not a 30 hour one.

Maybe I'm just biased because Atlus games always have superbosses that usually work this way by having mechanics like "I instant kill you if you have passives that block damage" or "You have to wipe my health bar from 30% to 0 in one turn because on the next turn I'm going to instant kill you". It's like a puzzle where you stop and spend hours strategizing and planning just for this one boss, so it's always satisfying to me since it's a unique challenge. But yeah maybe it's less common in other rpgs than it seems in my head. I still liked coming up with a cheese build for Simon though.

Cheese or get cheesed isn't fun. That's about all there is to it.

but the dungeons themselves are just one big corridor.

So, you didn't play the game?

The dungeons are factually not a straight line. There are divergent paths and there is a world map with many locations. This is not FF13 before chapter 11

I don't blame people for getting filtered by some of the act 2 fights.
On normal and expert, the attack patterns and types of attacks change

Fight Renoir on normal or expert

Fuck up a gradient parry

Lose a party member for the whole fight

Dropping it at the best part

Anon what the fuck. Get out of these threads and keep playing.
This is why I put break skills on every character

Old Lumiere

Level 23

How the FUCK did you pull that off?

I just finished the opening sequence (up to Act 1 opening card) and so far it's been a good movie.

yeah its kind of a movie for the prologue. it gets gamey later

That's a fair perspective I suppose. I spent the whole game stacking shields as soon as I found that one picto that gives you 3 at the start of the battle, I probably should have been mad that Simon had a cheap ability that just shut down my entire playstyle but I took it as a challenge instead. It's probably a fair response to feel like the game is kinda cheating by removing an entire playstyle like that.

How the FUCK did you pull that off?

He probably avoided most enemies

I beat him by dying repeatedly. There's a pictos that fills the break bar every time the character dies, so I just stunned him repeatedly and kept stacking burn until Maelle could get rid of half his remaining HP with burning canvas. Didn't feel too cheesy, so I had a good time.

Yeah I figured. Not that I have any problem with the opening, it was very nicely done. If they manage to keep the vibe till the end I'll probably enjoy it a lot.

I did and it's linear.
You have the classic "dead-end-with-a-chest-at-the-end" and the loop with a picto at the end that brings you back at the start of the branch, because you only have one way to progress.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing btw, but that game is much closed in level design to FF13 than, say Xenoblade or a Breath of Fire.

Or FF4-9

I brought the game for Xbox but haven't had time to play it, I want to beat Lords of the Fallen first before I lose my muscle memory.
And Deltarune is coming out in two weeks, that's gonna take priority too.
I don't mind, I'm voting with my wallet, giving money to a beautiful game with beautiful women that I'll get around to playing one day.

Feels good didnt fall for the marketing shilling campaign

You cannot be this butthurt the game is doing well

muscle memory

Yeah you're gonna want to start expedition 33 asap.

Deltarune is coming out in 2 weeks

That's the perfect amount of time to play an actually good game like expedition 33.

Post a 30 hour RPG with better stats

No.

what are we going to call goty now that this game is confirmed a failure? I think AC shadows

did you know a majority of people who play games dont play them every day, and because they have lives outside of the internet they can only play things for an hour or two a night, and will play one game for months on end?

Most people don't finish games, this is normal

Not everyone has completed an RPG mere weeks after it's release.

OMG DISASTER!!!

I'm pretty sure 90% of Anon Babble threads are made by the same three indian discorders who then proceed to samefag for hours

70% dropped the game before ancient sanctuary. This is not your 160 hour RPG, it's literally 30 hours total.

and I'll never know why. I guess they're hired by the mods to force 'engagement' and drive 'traffic' or something.

game appeals to normies

surprised when normies act like normies

developers really underestimate the impact of the quality fans.

And most people don't get past the first act of 30 hour RPGs, what is your point?

I'm in Act 3 now and this is probably a top 5 game for me at this point.
But I am also a father of two with a full time engineering job with an active social life + multiple hobbies including reading and writing.
You know, not everyone no-lifes games as soon as their out until the end of the game a couple days after release, right?
Though you probably don't even play video games so of course you didn't consider this.

It's so fucking strange watching the same arguments and seething shitpost about sales and achievements instead of actually talking about the fucking game.

I haven't finished a game in over a decade. I have 50+ hours in the Witcher 3, Persona 5, Elden Ring, GTA5, E33, Disco Elysium, Skyrim, Tales of Arise, Baldurs Gate, Fallout 4, Yakuza like a Dragon. I like all these games but something just comes up and I don't play for a few days and I just can't be bothered getting back into it.

No way you are at old lumerie at 23. You ran past every mob didnt you?
steam stats are dumb. only 23% of players finished FF7 rebirth too. I doubt that stat is real and i doubt your stats are real.

oh wow a great successful game is a game that most buy but don't play. Amazing.

Over 10% beat the optional superboss you fucking retard that almost never happens and if it does, then a year after release

Threads like these are the best clue you can get from Anon Babble that a game is worth trying

I stopped playing once you reach old luminere.
the woman and faggot writing was too much for me to bear. last game which had me feeling this way was goi of soi:fagnacuck.
I will still hold on to the hope that western games may once again become basado fun vidya instead of pure faggotry, but man I have been let down for a long time now.

have sex, incel

II think it's safe to say that people who want to 100% something use guides

Maybe zoomers and alphababies

you're done, gaming journalism is dead, useless industry jobs are dead, and you're going to be working at mcdonalds to survive
eat shit

Despite that, for Steam,

28.3% beat the game

12.5% beat Simon

9.1% reached level 99

7.3% Found all music records, presumably 100%'ing the game

There are a lot of people that enjoyed the game enough to put the extra 25 or so hours in to finish the end game content.
A lot of people finished it too, I'd say. An impressive success for sure.

I also dropped persona 5, gta5 and witcher 3 while playing.
Expedition 33 was really good and doesn't have tons of filler.
Expedition 33 is short enough to get through the main story in a reasonable amount of time.
There's a fuck-ton of optional post-game content.

Normies have shit taste

is that your argument? lmaooooo

HLTB is self-reported. And I seriously doubt most people are getting 100% in 60 hours without guides. (And that's not even talking about beating Simon, which is needed to unlock a journal.) Some of those list gestrals are really obnoxious to find, and the gestrals minigames in general are cancer. It's also quite hard to reach 99 in one playthrough, and you can also miss the mime in the prologue.

games typically have maybe a 50% completion rate max, normies don't complete games

25% completion rate for a single player game is pretty good these days, normalfags rarely finish their games if you look at steam achivements for almost any popular title, also over 10 percent for the optional superboss is crazy even if everybody did just cheese him

Well its a boring game so that makes sense

No sane person is going around the maps finding gestrals and music records. If you want to waste hours of your life doing that, ok. Don't pretend it's content.

It's also quite hard to reach 99 in one playthrough

You just grind some mobs for like an hour.

you can also miss the mime in the prologue

Not even worth mentioning. He's easy to spot and you can get back to him on ng+ in minutes.

Those are high numbers.

You can literally one shot Simon. I did the Maelle glass cannon build with The One picto and did over 100 million damage to him the first move.

I'm in Act 3 now

Luckily for you, this game can end really fast if you jsut go straight to the final boss after one or two side kick, preferable one of them being Paint Alicia side quest

40% beat Elden Ring. You just notice that kind of stuff about the better kinds of games that come out of Japan.
STEAM P5R saw 35% beating the game. It’s just way higher. People dropped the game significantly less and were playing for way longer.

This is true
FOR EVERY
SINGLE
GAME
For real, look up any game, and you'll find that less than 30% of players actually got to the end, and that's being generous.

I've never played Expedition 33, I have no interest in it, but to shit on the game from this perspective is retarded.

didn't play it

then fuck off

it's true for every RPG

every RPG that is 160+ hours not a 30 hour one retard.

The game is pretty shit until act1 is finished so those numbers arent too bad.

How many players beat FF16

This is true FOR EVERY SINGLE GAME

Look up your favorite single player games and see for yourself, it doesn't matter how long or how short they are.

Show me one 30-40 hours long game with 25% completion on Steam and I will buy any game that you want on Steam for you.

25% finished Act 3

What do you mean that’s pretty good

IMG_3846.gif - 640x480, 1.85M

Is it even possible to be only level 23 that late in the game? Were you trying to do like a SL1 run where you avoid anything except mandatory bosses?

My stats are 0% since I haven't even bought the game. I don't really get the appeal from all the images that have been posted on here. I guess the story and outdated turn based gameplay is great.

and outdated turn based gameplay

First massive BG3 success, now this, and yet retards call turn-based gameplay outdated. Truly brainrot.

25% finishing the game is actually good, Elden Ring and BG3 have roughly the same number of people who finished them and those are the two biggest RPGs of the decade

The only stat that matters to me is my personal enjoyment and the only stat that matters to the makers are sales.
Also . 99% of normalfags never finish games they start. This is a totally normal.

Doomposters are failing another narrative.

I'm worried the blocking rhythm will disrupt my rhythm in Lords of the Fallen. I tried playing LotF and Khazan at the same time, it just didn't work out.

only 50% of players ever reached level 5

this thread is probably the saddest attempt i think i've ever seen at dragging a game down

Ok don't go looking at other game stats especially not soulsslop stats. I don't even like E33 but you're fucking retarded.

Hint: Normalfags can be goaded into buying anything popular

Tell me you don't play games if you think 25% completing the entire game is a bad metric.

why do people even buy games if they're only going to play 1/5th of them

25% completing the entire game is not 1/5th, that's 1/4th.

It's that way for Exp 33 as it's main inspiration is PS1 era ff games, the PS1 FF games were on multiple disks and at the end of each disk was basically like the end of an Act an event that people remember.
It's an homage if anything. The only one being a pretentious twat is you.

It's kinda pathetic how desperate doomposters have gotten.

No it's not, zoomer.

I don't even like the game but this is just some gigacope, I thought you guys only cared about sales since they're the only thing that matters and these guys got 3 million in a month.

muh completion numbers

all games have low completion numbers because normies move on to the next thing without finishing it like the bandwagoners they are. There's also stuff like people who bought it but have it in their backlog, people who play very little and progress really slowly and also those who dropped it. Then again, why would that matter? They're all sales in the end.

seethe brigade is delving into achievements

all that matters is sales and sales are good

OH NO NO NO

This. Pretty much

Yes it is, you have access to the internet so there is no excuse for your ignorance.

The gameplay meme is easily one of the most obvious discord troon tactics that reveals your hand. Absolutely no one posts gameplay for any games on this site except for DMC or Gaidenfags threads. Posting some guys mouth open to le epic meme chungus is fucking gäy retarded you stupid nigger

Neurotic dark triad with arrested development, ugly

You’ve got a problem brother lol

no source whatsoever

FFVII 10.6%

FFX 19%

Chrono Trigger 15.1%

lol

Shills really are on a whole 'nother level of retarded, huh? That's the literal definition of pretentious, retard lmao. Doing shit for tbe sake of doing it with no understanding of why it's the way it is. Broche really couldn't be bothered to fork over a couple more trust fund bux to hire better shills with at least 3 digit iq to run their marketing campaign.

Yikes thats really bad.

The sad fact is you have access to the internet and you think you know what you're talking about when you don't.
This is correct

Why do people buy games if they don't finish them? Do they join discussions online about them too?

Anon, there are people in these threads that don't even buy or play the game at all and they still join discussions about them. Just to seethe.

overbros...

Considering the demographics of Lumiere, I can see why people quit that early. I was one of them, but I'm glad I gave it another shot out of boredom and was happy to see it was mostly a false alarm.

Because ff7 was old game released on ps5 before already. Compare to this new freemason 33 game. You have no excuse for not finishing it.

thats the same for every game though.
shadow of war, a game that came out in 2017, 58% completed act 1. the highest acheivement is only at 73%.
sleeping dogs definitive edition: 76% have completed the first mission.
subnautica: 88% have "dive for the first time", and only 54% have built a habitat
etc etc. its every game. achievement stats are utterly useless and retarded.
consider suicide.

why is barry in such a panic over this game?

Barry hates modern FF. He has no stake in this.

I did the practice fights with Maelle and maybe 10 random encounters and quit the game
The souls-like fake outs within a 4-niggas-in-a-row game just feels wrong

Don't worry too much about the animations, listen for the SWOOOSH sound, that's when to hit dodge/parry

The really shit one is the gradient counters, since like 95% of them you just hit the gradient parry as soon as the greyscale comes in, but there's a few that take a few seconds longer and fuck you over

Wait, they're calling it woke?
Really...?

conflating decisions made in the past due to storage limitations to strategically timed intermissions because pre-modern live theatrical performances would often run for hours and was demanding on both the production cast and audience

it's ackshually an homage and isn't pretentious because.....y-you're pretentious!!!

in a time and day when compartmentalizing your games into segments is no longer needed because of technical advances

But go ahead, samefag more. E33 shills are on an entirely different level of lacking awareness- unsurprisingly because the game's entire identity is comparing itself to games that came out 10-20 years before it and autistically screeching about how it's improved on the games that it drew inspiration from.
Not even AAA Concord-level flop shills have the audacity to stick their heads that far up their asses.

you're both retarded

Each act is pretty explicitly focusing on the perspective of a main character (Gustave, Verso, Maelle) throughout major plot arcs (establishing the expedition on the continent, defeating the paintress, defeating Renoir)
There is nothing "pretentious" about this

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Act_(drama)

The first week or two after release literally had every thread spammed with images from the prologue of the game, claiming that it's full of black people and gays.
All the claims included one copy-pasted dark skinned NPC from three different angles, some included two kid brothers hugging, but none of them included pictures outside of the prologue.
It was a very telltale sign of shitposting and a low effort discord raid. They've moved on from it since then.
