Even if Sony or Microsoft bows out and the other gobbles up their marketshare, Nintendo is too well positioned to ever feel any significant pressure from the other console makers with their IPs + Pokemon. They keep dev costs and tech at least a generation behind and don't chase AAA. They're gonna be more draconian than NES days soon enough. Wouldn't be surprised if we see MS Game Pass crossover on Switch 2 by the end of its life.

And Rare also made some M rated games published by Nintendo (excluding Conker's Bad Fur Day, which Nintendo never published or acknowledged in Nintendo Power, due to it possibly ruining Nintendo's reputation as being "child friendly", as it was published by Rare themselves ((and THQ in Europe for some reason), at least before Microsoft bought them and all rights to that game went to Microsoft as a result (which makes it all the more unlikely that Conker's Bad Fur Day will be added at all to Nintendo Switch Online, when it already is readily available in Rare Replay, over its remake). Then again, Nintendo seems really keen in adopting Bayonetta as their own, when it's published by Sega, and they always had a massive hardon for Resident Evil ever since the N64 port of 2, , and some of the games are more or less associated with Nintendo with Zero, ReMake, and 4, and with the Switch rereleases of its other games, but couldn't get the then current ones from Xbox 360 and PS3 solely due to the Wii being barely more powerful than a Gamecube.
