Come back in a couple of days after next fest releases, valve has set up an aggressive filter to get rid of the lowest value games, but it needs some data to get there first.
Basically very low playtime games with few clicks will get heavily filtered so most people don't see them.

yeah I don't have the patience for visual novel demos right now. I just click as fast as I can in the hopes something cool happens but it rarely does because they games start slow.

Meme games and whatever gets looked at first because they have a pretty face rise to the top.
The more time goes on, it's more likely for well-produced shit to be high up and more hidden gems to get overlooked and lost among the massive pile of slop.
It will be overall easier to sift through the demos and find something neat while they are effectively 'randomly' sorted than when the one potential good game has whole pages of shit on both sides.

Drunken Rogue was fun. I guess you'd call it a roguelike, you go through a run gradually raising your stats while dealing with a certain number of encounters on each floor which each hits you with a different stat check and a potential penalty for failing it. Being more drunk gives you potential higher rolls for your stats but also makes you unable to see what you're actually fighting so the stat check and thus reported chance of success might not be true, and you can't see what the reward is either. The pivotal mechanic is that you can postpone any encounter until the next floor, which increases the difficulty of the stat check but also improves the reward for clearing it, so it's about strategically raising your stats while postponing certain encounters to get greater rewards out of them later. Had me thinking much harder than I expected it to.
The translation is pretty shoddy at this point though, the wording on everything is awkward and a bunch of stuff is missing translations entirely.

I noped out of this one pretty goddamn fast. Survival horror just doesn't combine well with multiplayer. I think this is the first game I've seen where the main character is a hunchback, though?

even schizocore is getting overrun by AI ripoffs
