Allegedly the most important role

allegedly the most important role

nobody wants to play it

CURIOUS

Just don't get hit

too many responsibilities

nobody wants to play it

not true in the slightest
it just so happens that WoW, and really every other MMO in the market, completely alienated the people who want to play healer by reinventing the role into an abstract amalgamation of dealing damage and other random shit

all healers want is to be away from the danger and heal people, that's it
no one who wants to play healer wants to learn rotations and throughput windows and manage cooldowns between other people, it's all moronic

get called a cuck/sissy

passive play style

nanny/nurse

gets blamed for wipes

Its a thankless and boring and gay job and doesn't even come with even a modicum of respect or even skill requirement

Purely reactive. Feels stressful. Doesn't allow for planning in the slightest. Doesn't reward the player with dopamine in the same way either.

If you were a surgeon, maybe healer would be fun. Solving problems on the spot, using different kinds of resources and skills to achieve correct outcomes.
Clear risk witn everytbing, obvious drawbacks to some things but may be beneficial, up to your sound judgement type deal.

Instead a healer just shoots green dps. If your mana goes out everyone dies.
Can't really pace your mana because that's not up to you but others playstyle/skill. Its a worthless position, and games with healers suck balls

Tanks are actually the least played. Noone wants to just grab aggro and hold aggro. At least when you're healing you're actually doing something in a fight.

It's not the players' fault they make healers as boring as possible.

bar goes down

press button

bar goes up

meanwhile damage is pressing 1 button over and over

jesus christ fuck ff14

what message/emotion is your image meant to convey?

all healers want is to be away from the danger and heal people, that's it

Only complete autists are these types of healers, retard

too hard
people play it when it's easier (classic)

As I said above, there's barely any gameplay elements at all.

Dead people are dead and can't be brought back in most cases except for after the fight. Wounded people don't require stabilization. People aren't actually brought out of the fight except for death.
There's no skill requirement to simply press the "heal" button.

All healing is equal and the only difference is rates of mana consumption versus healing done. Quick/slow, expensive/cheap. That's it.

Most often the damage incoming doesn't necessitate following any pattern or making decisions, the way you heal barely matters.

There's also no other form of healable afflictions beyond cookie cutter status effects, also removed by a simple press of a button.

Healing is retardedly simplistic in its execution,
In order to save players from having to deal with damaged characters or nerfing their output in any way. Healing also isn't made into a minigame or made mechanically demanding. A monkey can watch bars drain and fill up.

Can't do anything outside of groups in a monstly solo MMO.

Healing is only fun when you play with noobs who don't know anything and get hit by random shit or from ripping aggro. There's this kind of inverse enjoyment where the better other players are the less fun healing is.

Healers should just be DPS that heal others while dealing damage normally. Skills like "mark this guy, others heal when hitting it", making AoE zones that damage enemies and heal allies, transfusion attacks, giving allies shields based on damage dealt, etc.

>allegedly the most important role

The fact this role exists at all *IS* the problem, because games having to be designed around it is a net negative, since the only thing it brings to the table is increasing TTK and prolonging whatever activity you would normally be doing (combat). Therefore, healing (in combat) should be abolished and "healers" relegated to support roles, a.k.a. primarily crowd-control and utility roles, that still contribute to combat, but in way more engaging ways. No, I don't care about heal sluts not being able to get their dopamine from keeping the health bars of their bulls up, they're literal bots.

nothing wrong with healing being simple
you still have to look at everyones HP bars ideally not just the tank's which is boring as shit
and do the boss mechanics

Is healing magic basically time magic?

Fistweaver was the only time healing was fun in WoW and they removed it because they couldn't figure out how to balance a group doing 4 people's worth of DPS instead of 3.5 people.

So long as healing in MMOs remains "stare at this bar and press 1 when it gets to half, or 2 if all of them get to half" it will remain shit.

If you think xiv and wow healing is bad, try ESO

People who want to look at your party's health bars are a tiny minority. Giving healers more shit to do was supposed to be way to entice more players into the role. I'd say the bigger problems is concept of healbots just doesn't appeal to people and we need cooler healers. Warhammer Online had some good ideas, for example.

Combat in ESO is just dog shit

Games have tried that and players didn't like it. They don't mind healers as long as THEY don't have to play them.

self-heals left keeping their ass alive to players themselves and it turns out your average player is a moron

At least your role still exists. (de)Buffers and CCers got their identity dispersed to the Holy Trinity and just disappeared.

I still cannot comprehend how anyone thought that was acceptable for a combat system.

I always enjoyed DPS with healing skills but unfortunately most encounters are designed so that you will eventually need a real healer

Warhammer Online had some good ideas, for example.

It actually had CRAZY varied healers and even exact mirrors from opposing sides weren't total carbon copies.

Rune Priest

Warrior Priest

Archmage

Zealot

Disciple of Khaine

Shaman

When I saw the devs play it on streams I understood everything and dropped the game for good. Nothing is going to get fixed.

high end m+ healing is fun though
better than fucking sitting down half the time that's for sure

looks like action combat, but it's actually soft-lock

it's worse because you can play the game in first person and it becomes really obvious entire thing is smoke and mirrors

Healers need to be removed from games. Only women and trannies want to play them.

melee healers are some of the best healers, building up holy power as holy paladin or fistweaving as mistweaver was the most fun I had healing in this game
The number one issue for me that made me stop playing healer is how fucking tight everything is, one misstep and your whole party can be wiped or the dps can be deleted because at higher keys there's so much damage you need to make sure every move is calculated lest you run OOM or don't have chi cocoon or LoH or BoP when you need it, was insanely frustrating and stressful when I could just be a DPS and not stand in the fire and be good, hell tanking was far more enjoyable and less stressful and more fun than healing

buggy weaving is the core mech

The ABSOLUTE cancer

What are you even implying?
GW2 has literally always had healers.
Ironically, since most people ITT are complaining about bar-watching, they'd probably cream their pants over healing in GW2 because healing in it is just playing a DPS except your rotation does healing instead of damage.

have to do mechanics

have to do damage

have to baby sit retard dps

have to ensure tank is alive because he zoned out on his defensive rotation

have to heal

have to manage mana to make sure we don't oom healing retarded dps who stood in fire

blamed for anything going wrong

Wow who wouldn't wanna play healer nowadays

Nah it's actually great fun in a real guild, it's the random and pugs that make healers quit. T. Multi ranked top 100 healer in m+ and mythic raider in WoW

I fucking LOVED Warrior Priest healing and buffing people by smacking shit in melee.

Crypto tab targeting worked really well in GW2 but it's just dog shit in ESO. Having it tied to your camera instead of letting you explicitly target things is just awful. And then they added the fucking basic attacks.

Games are designed around combat encounters and healers are pigeonholed to fit this mold.
Instead of having things to do regarding magical wounds, amputations, gangrene (but I repeat myself), strange diseases or plagues etc etc

All of that important and fun type of work doesn't fit into the games and cannot be given to healers due to the games being small in scope and laser focused on dungeon crawling and combat (and not even doing it well).

There simply ain't much roleplay to be had performing this role. Simply the act of performing surgery in fantasy medieval setting would be an exciting experience worthy of a game. Instead, the healer is relegated to shooting green beams at people and that's the whole extent of their role.

If it's a combat healer I'll play it

3 women can wear 3 black t shirts and still stand on their feet in a building.

be warrior priest

target the ally you're supposed to heal

have continuous ability that heals your defensive target whenever you attack

IT'S HAMMER TIME

Only problem with WPs was they didn't have heavy armor and yet were supposed to be on the frontlines. This made them very easy to focus fire.

Get distracted for a second and tank dies and you get flamed. Meanwhile DPS posted can drool in their bip and press buttons their addon tells them to click.

That's a lot of boob for a priest for a woman of the cloth.

I stopped playing games with healers in them, they make combat very unfun. It's better to give everyone the responsibility to keep themselves healthy.

Yeah why is our main guy witn full plate getting cracked in the head over and over. He should be nigh invulnerable with all the shit on him

As a mistwaver player, I can say you’re absolutely retarded. Only bad players feel this way.

Healer gear looks like sissy shit.

high test alpha tank checking in

healers are weak bitches

This is you.
It makes no difference at all what you play and someone has to do it anyway.

Just have fun.

MGTOW.jpg - 1023x768, 253.31K

high test

tank

the most braindead and easiest spec to play

the only part your role needs thinking power is following your dungeon add-on so you don't waste everyones time on worthless pulls

Not true, is usually tanks, what people hate is being the one that will be blamed if something wrong happens, no one blames dps, rarely they blame the healer, everyone blames the tank.
Same thing happens in other genres, in league no one wants to play jungle because of that

Retard wrangler role, low mp but your party doesn't pay attention? Your fault. Someone ran too far away from the tank and died to stray mobs? Your fault. Tank pulls a ton of shit without popping cds? Your fault.

I don't want to play with a bunch of random faggots who are usually under geared or just can't stay calm and wipe the party all the fucking time. Boss mechanics? Try player mechanics.

Correction: I stopped playing games designed around "the holy trinity" because it makes combat unfun. Give enemies proper AI so they don't go after the bulkiest guy all game. The tanks should have to work for that shit.

I like seeing big numbers?

Capture.jpg - 1101x471, 68.95K

I prefer this role because I can’t prevent more failures as a healer
Used to tank but it was giving me neck pain

There's nothing wrong with holy trinity in itself, but the problem is it draws from tabletop RPGs where everyone has WAY more tools to diffuse situations with. Not to mention the resident DM can improvise shit if there's no healer.

In WoW's case healing is pretty bad because you're either healing absolute mouthbreathers that can't avoid the swirlies or you're doing shit DPS and healing the tank occasionally because everyone in the group has a billion addons that cut out as much probability for human error as possible

Get passed over for gear because it doesn't really matter in comparison to tanks and DPS

Raid gets better at mechanics, and as they get gear upgrades the bosses die faster, so less damage is taken

Now the raid is cutting as many healer positions as possible to bring extra DPS to clear the content faster

No dopamine hit for any sort of parsing, because healer parses don't matter

Asshole is now the size of a storm drain

Gee I wonder why nobody but faggots shit at video games want to play this role.

heroic

Only the top prog guilds do this anon, otherwise it's a shit guild.

Fucking this. When I tanked I liked being the tankiest I could possibly be, face-tanking boss mechanics that I was supposed to be dodging all because I had specced and geared to be able to do this.
Then eventually the DPS brainrot infected even tanks and now you were supposed to DPS as hard as you could while maintaining the bare minimum tanking ability. It fucking sucked.

deal more damage during a fight

means the fight is over quicker

less healing required

It’s a win win and makes the game more fun
Also healers barely have a rotation in wow

in WoW classic, healing probably way too boring. So noone plays. In wow retail, healing is way harder than playing DPS and tank, because in the end game dungeons, its all designed around one shot abilities and effects.

I've only ever played the lowest level content

Oh wow hey thanks for being honest there champ :)

No, healing being more involved which includes landing damage rotations makes it more appealing for dps players to try out. The problem though, is the pressure and toxicity is immense in pugs, and healing recently (havent played in 1 month so i mb wrong) revolves around giving players extra bonus health buffers to survive one shots. That kind of blink, and your party member dies is too much stress for the normal dps player, so therefore healers will always remain a choke point.

DPS players are cattle. It's the easiest role with absolutely zero accountability. Your only job is to do your damage rotation well enough that you beat the enrage timer. That's it.

and because dps players are so fucking shit at the game they are getting a 1 button mode
dpsissies egos have been shattered

healing in classic is fun until you get to raids and every boss starts dying in 1 minute so you don't need to be efficient at all and can just spam max rank flash heal
retail healing is a shitshow and you have lots of buttons but most of them feel like they do fuck all

There's something about the support role that attracts the most entitled mentally ill people possible. I've been levelling tank jobs in xiv for the past few weeks, and some of the support players I've run into are actual glue eaters.

Games with real support like ffxi bards, corsairs, and red mage are usually very good players. It’s players like whm or cure spamming red mages that are always the mentally ill trannies

It was mostly sage and noob whm players that were causing the most problems. Astrologian and red mage players are usually very reliable, though.

because WoW is for faggots
I'll still play a heal or shielder in other games with the lads unless it's boring, in which case I won't

Correct. I play healers because they are the ultimate pet class. I'll let the baboons do the work for me. Yes I get enjoyment out of the game this way.

I miss enchanters in EQ

Why can't people grasp the concept of line of sight?

Ff14 healing sucks because it's literally 1 button rotation for damage and boring as fuck

Healing is fun in games like marvel rivals with special and unique abilities in wow it sucks.

I want to play it. I like playing it.
BUT I DON'T LIKE BEING TOLD TO DO DAMAGE WHILE I'M DOING IT, FUCK OFF AND DO THE DAMAGE YOURSELF, I SIGNED UP TO PLAY HEALTHBAR WHACK-A-MOLE NOT TO PLAY DPS LITE

Giving healers more shit to do was supposed to be way to entice more players into the role.

nobody wants to play it still

>>>>>People who want to look at your party's health bars are a tiny minority.

How do you have this level of doublethink going on? Honestly impressive

I like playing healers in hero shooters, but straight up healbot characters are ass. Brig and zen in overwatch, luna in rivals are some of my favourites. Brig gets a heal aura when she melees people, there needs to be more stuff like that. I wish debuffs were more common.
never played it, but what sort of healing mechanics did it use?

I miss EQ class design in general. Shaman, necro, cleric, enchanter all had their quirks that made them fun to play and have in a group

allegedly the most important role

nobody wants to play it

Literally the most important role since it saves people time running from responding to the frontlines

You sound like one of those healers in XIV that just casts one heal every 20 seconds because the game is designed for you to DPS when you aren't busy, spends the entire dungeon AFK, and then gets pissy when someone tells you to play the game

in xiv

I tried to play warrior in that game and quit before I hit max level, so fucking SLOW and the world was even less engaging than WoW's

because the game is designed for you to DPS when you aren't busy

Yes, this is the problem part right here, thank you
Bring back mana conservation as an element of healing instead of expecting me to play DPS when I signed up to heal

FF14 making healers baby easy by giving them infinite mana was retarded

Because it's boring class to play. Only game i've seen that made supports fun is HoTS

Wow did it first

FF14 copying WoW 1:1 killing itself is retarded
