Why won't Gen Z appreciate complete games on physical media?

Not everything needs to be downloaded and have DLC

I'm sure they thought that their video is the most hilarious thing ever

Father,
How do I click the book ??

whenever I see those ugly fake ass skank nails I just want to rip them off

Are indian men last Hope for gaming & civilization?

dkoldies

charges $500+ for a fat ps3

do americans really?

Because physical media is only a smokescreen for DRM at this point.
Unless you are literally treating the physical game as a data transfer in place of your internet connection, there is no point to it.

DKOldies

Isn't Z the first generation that doesn't even know what a game without DLC and mtx is? Or will it be alpha?

Indians are purely alpha male

lol zoomers are so DUMB XD (despite the fact that this girl looks 15 at the oldest, thus making her Gen Alpha)

the dumbest nigger retard post of the day award

the oldest zoomer is 25 you massive faggot, some of the early zoomers played on ps2 and maybe ps1 too
the main point is that retarded millennials who had the cash to buy games kept purchasing that slop and let the industry get away with that shit
it's all on you

nah most got handed down ps1s and n64s

Why r whites vile ?

Only true post. Millennials made the world shit in every aspect and zoomers have to live through it.

You joke but this is becoming a reality. When I was growing up you used to see kids, mainly students, reading on the bus. You'd also see people sitting in parks and other casual places just enjoying a book on a quiet afternoon. Now everyone has substituted physical books for e:books and audiobooks, and rarely ever do you see adults read in public anymore.

Children learn mostly by mimicking what they see, and they don't get exposed to physical literature today.

I used to see a lot more people reading on the metro before, nowadays it's very rare and 95% of the time when I do it's a woman reading smut. The people I talk literature with are all in their 50s and 60s.

Too many browns around now. You have to be monitoring your surroundings, not staring at a page.

She looks like she's at least late 20s,she absolutely knows what buttons are. Obviously she does i know, but if you're gonna film an actment like this at least use a child so it would make sense

I can't read fucking ebooks. I tired but my eyes hurt like hell after a few minutes. Normal book on the other hand, no problem.

the games i bought in the 00s were good i think.
oldest zoomers are 28 btw, start date is 1997

Now everyone has substituted physical books for e:books

whats wrong with that?

oldest zoomers are 28 btw, start date is 1997

that makes the whole

le zoomers are le dumb and le born with iphones in their hands and le don't know what a folder is

point even more retarded
I wonder who benefits from saying that shit

meanwhile my toddler is playing a modded gba and sitting there watching me play total war warhammer and asking what each thing does.

I blame the non involved parents.

kek

Ereaders are objectively superior to regular books in all cases but "soul".
+ More comfortable to hold and better as the book gets larger
+ 1 Button page turn
+ Can adjust the font size(This is the big one) and type
+ Carries however many books you want
+ Piracy
+ Optional backlight

= Actual physical materia and no light being blasted in your retina(Unless you use the backlight)

- Can't smell the book
- No cool cover
- Slower to sift through the pages quickly
- Can't feel paper in your hands
- Can't put on your shelf

the only physical media i need is a PC

only the youngest gen Z would be smartphone kids, cutoff date for gen Z is 2012. so older gen Z are basically young millenials who can remember some of the time before smartphones when they were in elementary school. while the younger ones wouldn't remember a time before smartphones. generations are too long honestly with how fast tech moves, gen alpha is going to be in a similar situation with the youngest ones remembering a time before AI, while the youngest ones who are newborn babies right now won't.
generations are just for population metrics rather than tracking cultural shifts making it kinda pointless

youngest ones remembering a time before AI,

oldest ones*

Back in my day me and my friends were fetching Pokémons and trading cards while my retarded nephew is fetching a pail of water. We are doomed

How can I appreciate a game if it won't populate my Steam Profile with [Achievements]?
Games aren't fun, I play them to collect [Achievements], a game without [Achievements] for my Steam Profile is nothing but a pointless chore.

Ereaders are objectively superior to regular books in all cases but "soul".

Wrong, objectively.

+ More comfortable to hold and better as the book gets larger

The shift in weight across your hands as you read gives a visceral indication of your progress through it.

+ 1 Button page turn

1 hand page turn.

+ Can adjust the font size(This is the big one) and type

The font size and typeface is an integral part of the reading experience. Reading Edgar Allan Poe in comic sans is a blatantly inferior experience.

+ Carries however many books you want

Books are not that heavy. It is unlikely you read enough in one session to warrant that complaint.

+ Piracy

Libraries.

+ Optional backlight

Lamps exist. Put one behind and to the side of your chair.

= Actual physical materia and no light being blasted in your retina(Unless you use the backlight)

Both are physical objects, maybe I am misunderstanding this point.

- Can't smell the book

Vitally important, the smell helps you focus and get in a mood to enjoy reading.

- No cool cover

True, I guess? Not really looking at the cover every time you pick it up.

- Slower to sift through the pages quickly

Very true.

- Can't feel paper in your hands

Another critically important component of ascertaining progress and enjoying constant tactile sensation.

- Can't put on your shelf

True, but if you're pirating/renting that's irrelevant.

I have an e-ink reader, and as convenient as it is, I will always take a physical book over using it if possible, as the author intended.

I like audiobooks. Some books suck as audiobooks though. Someone once said to me that books would become like old records. I don't think that will happen though.

It will be okay anon.

im not carrying a big ass book on my commute

people actually complaining that a single paperback is too heavy to carry on their commute

genuinely fucking embarassing

i was talking about calculus by larson and edwards, not a roald dahl book

i usually read a book because i want to read the letters contained within so none of these "benefits" apply to me
yeah i can go to the library and rent 5 books and then put a lamp behind me and read them in the font size that the publisher arbitrarily chose (not the author) but thats just worse than downloading them to my ereader and reading them on that

i usually read a book because i want to read the letters contained

based.png - 405x720, 572.01K

You should read a Roald Dahl book instead, you'd probably be a less irritable person.

no

complete games on physical media

I can't even remember the last time I played a game that was both available on disc/cart and didn't require a day one patch to run properly.

The shift in weight across your hands as you read gives a visceral indication of your progress through it.

This is one I'll give you, the rest is mostly inane babble. Though I'm glad there are more readCHADS here.

Both are physical objects, maybe I am misunderstanding this point.

Yeah I put a = there I was trying to say both options benefit from this as opposed to doing something retarded like reading on a phone or tablet or monitor etc.

Gen z doesn't know how folders on a computer work. Smart phones ruined them

reading in public is cringe

that's why you have to read them on an ebook reader and not on phone/tablet

preferring automated slop to purpose-built books made by book designers

I suppose a mindset of quality over quantity was too much to hope for. You might as well just read the dictionary at this point, since it has one of the largest word counts available.

yes they do
smart phones have folders

Funnily enough zoomzooms have the most problem with technology and not shit like this
Growing up with garbage locked down devices completely stripped any sense of say, a file system

are you pretending to be retarded

I mean, I don't want others to see what I read

It's so funny how millennials just parrot random game journalists making shitpost articles to keep their job as fact.

automated? im the one that chose the layout, font size and typeface. and what are you talking about with word count and reading the dictionary?
you have lost the plot, im just a guy who wants to read a book and an ereader is the best way to do that. im not plugged into the matrix and automatically downloading a stream of words into my brain or something. im really just reading a book that i chose to read because i thought it would be interesting.

poor parenting
nothing more

You're the one who claimed your only purpose of reading books was to experience words, brotherman.

I watch YouTube videos at 4x speed.

TOOOT

book designers

Every controller/handheld console I've ever handed my 2 year old daughter it's like she immediately knows how to use it
Handed her my xbone controller and she held it like she was born for it
She likes jumping in Kingdom Hearts 3

bee bee sea

That didn't work for Dahl himself, he was a well known cantankerous miser.

That's a good way to interpret what anon said, if your aim was to reinforce your biases. You seem more enamoured with the idea and 'aesthetics' of reading than actually reading, all the while trying to put down a completely valid way to read books.
Not saying e-readers are the objectively superior way of reading, but as far as gadgets go, they are among the more useful ones.

futurism.com/the-byte/gen-z-kids-file-systems

pcgamer.com/students-dont-know-what-files-and-folders-are-professors-say/

University students in courses from engineering to physics are having to be taught what files and folders are, The Verge reports, because that's not how they've grown up using computers. Whenever they need a file, they just search for it.

"I tend to think an item lives in a particular folder. It lives in one place, and I have to go to that folder to find it," astrophysicist Catherine Garland said. "They see it like one bucket, and everything's in the bucket."

Nothing inherently wrong, but in relation to the context of the thread it has led to books becoming less relevant as a physical medium. The next generation of children will look at books the same way the current generation looks at vcr's or cassette players.

As an anecdote: Ive tried to find a cassette of an audiobook I listened to as a kid. It's called 'Köttvars trollformler' and is the audio recording of a series of short stories from an old Swedish author. The tape is practically nonexistent, there doesn't seem to be any CDs made, and none of the Swedish libraries I've been in contact with has been able to find a copy. I fear we will start seeing the same thing with books as they move more and more over to digital.

Indian men are the lost hope for everything.

damn im disappointed
i honestly dont even know how they get to that point

another thread where millenial troons obsess over stereotypes and reveal they have no actual clue what "zoomer" or "gen Z" actually means

Top kek. See
Also
That doesn't seem to be a "zoomer" problem, but nigger problem.

i honestly dont even know how they get to that point

a lot of people gen z included no longer use computers. not even laptops. unless you're in school/uni or your job requires it. Its not just younger people although it affects them more because the older a person is the more likely they had to use a computer for work or school at some point. A lot of really young kids today probably went straight to a tablet or smart phone. I also see in a lot of public schools they will have them use chromebooks because theyre so cheap and the chromeos is barely a "real" computer its a google search bar and chrome with an os around it

That doesn't seem to be a "zoomer" problem, but nigger problem.

retard detected.

You didn't like the tiny hands?

Book smell

Vitally important

Fucking this. Both new- and old book smell gives a sense of comfort in their own unique way.

they would have to actively ignore what is on screen to not know how files and folders work

you interact with them when submitting assignments
you interact with them when uploading media
even on chromeos that hides a bunch of shit still has a file and folder system

like what the fuck

They're kind of starting to be looked upon more like collectors items like vinyl records. Youtubers and "Book-Tok" are full of people showing off their shelve, yammering on about how much they're consooming.

what age is that girl?

What's the roadmap?

samefag shamelessly self-bumping his thread

???

file.png - 377x106, 5.96K

the guy that did the news article was talking to people in cybersecurity that only used linux.

Only people with tiny dicks do line by line rebuttals. Sign of a low iq incapable of summarising critique.

people in cybersecurity that only used linux.

incels

im 31 and currently in college. also was part of a career workshop program 6 months ago where they provided us laptops to use certain software. Trust me when I say this anon most people especially the younger they are, are retarded when it comes to computers.

you interact with them when submitting assignments

you interact with them when uploading media

yes and they have trouble doing so. most people save things on the desktop or in downloads and dont know how to find anything else. they also arent very knowledgable about any file extension that isnt pdf. something like google docs/drive etc has made it so that if its not in the cloud or in a browser they have trouble. not sure why this is so difficult for you to believe. not all of them are like this but most of them are

What a retard lmao

didn't believe you at first, saw the fat w/o backwards compat for $179, then saw the original model for $500 is sold out. Retro game market is truly dead, emulation is king

dont look up 3ds prices especially the new3ds variants lmao

What a stupid fucking piece of shit lmao

So glad I kept mine, standard black New 3DS XL, hacked with any and every game on it as soon as the store shut down. Such a shame that the market is like this, if you missed out on something when it was out, you're basically fucked. Imagine being one of those fags that bought a PS4 with P.T. installed on it.

Sorry im just butting into your conversation with that other person. Do old 3DS consoles sell for a high price or what? I have a day 1 launch model blue one that I basically never used. I think the only games I ever played on it were oot 3d, mm3d and link between worlds. I have all the box and AR cards and shit.

You opened the box.

you'll definitely get a better price for newer models but most of them are pretty sought after now that Nintendo shut the eShop down and gave one last "fuck you" in the final update to prevent softmodding/hacking

there is nothing wrong with ebook reader.
i still use my ~12year old one, the battery is good for at least a week and i can pirate stuff.

All me btw

file.png - 516x112, 8.41K

This is wrong. I had to do court service a few weeks ago and was sat in a room filled with all ages. I'd say a good 1/3 had a book out at some point, and it was mainly people below 30 who were reading. The boomers were just sat there staring into space or yapping away about bullshit.

It always baffles me when people complain about a game having no DLC, they're all like

"game was ABANDONED!"

"company REFUSES to support game with updates!"

"no roadmap?"

Fuck off, I like having a complete game at launch

when i was a kid if someone left a book unattended i would move their bookmark.

I just can't read outside or in public transport, I can't get immersed with all the car noises and people talking, at least fiction, I have no issue reading academic papers or non-fiction anywhere

Modern Gayming is a Cancer sorry but Retro Games will always be superior

Child dumb means every child dumb.
Obviously the video is stupid bait because zoomzooms and alpha kids overglorify retroshit (and retroshit is generally also overglorified in current media).
In regards to physical media, it's a convenience thing. Yes, some of them are already used to DLC and microtransactions, but the digital aspect is just purely convenience. It's "I have a library in this small device that updates itself". And also that, content updates. They want more of what they already have, but they don't consider it should be free of charge and middle class children now and 50 years ago don't have a good concept of how they should spend their money.

Based

get digital media

copy paste digital media on a usb stick

physical media

also the gameboy is a piece of shit
I refuse to believe anyone old enough to have played it when it was new misses having to squint their eyes to understand what the fuck was happening on screen

gen z

she looks 35

Suppose you have a shelf full of media and someone were to convert all of it into a format that can be infinitely reproduced, immediately accessible, and stored on a single object the size of your pinkie fingernail. Why would you keep using the media on the shelf?

I can acknowledge that the smell of books is nice, but would the absence of the smell really effect the quality of the content in any way?

Zoomers are subhuman tech illiterates. T. Physical chad with A/V cables
Correction, you Eurotrash are below zoomers.

alpha
Zoomers run from ~96 - 2014
t. 98, played ps2/wii

Gen Alpha. PS3 games were Gen Z era and GOTY/Complete Editions still had all content on the disc. Like Oblivion 4 TES.
