You're thinking AMD can just produce more GPUs. Nvidia is doing this because TSMC has limited capacity and they have to choose between AI and gaming. AMD also uses TSMC, how exactly do you expect them to produce a ton of extra GPUs to make up for the ones that Nvidia isn't producing?

Nvidia have just completely fucking given up on gaming, nothing says this more than their driver releases this year, which have been so fucking bad and buggy that the old "AMD sucks at drivers" meme just applies to Nvidia now, and the 9070XT having comparable performance (even with RT) and features to a 4080 means that their next gen is probably going to either be on-par with nvidia's offerings, or will be trailing behind by such a small margin that their strategy of "charge $50 less than Nvidia's competing card" may actually fucking work for once
