Butchering your Sengoku or RotK game in ANY way to appeal to the westerners will not work and it can only backfire and lose you the audience you already had. In a game famous for diverse character roster that harkens back not just 25 years ago since the first installment but hundreds of years ago because they're Romance of the Three Kingdoms characters. And I liked how the character looks but he's a complete misguided waste in his implementation for this game.

Meaning it pissed everybody off, everybody (rightfully) shat on him and him being a Kpop cutie only poured oil to the fire. So the onlooking devs will take it to heart that the problem was the pretty twink on top of being the wrong protagonist decision for the game.

Because these devs all saw Capcom and Fromsoft make 10+ millions on Monster Hunter and Elden Ring and they want a slice of that pie. KT still has no recognized brand seller that sells millions in a matter of weeks. Like Nioh is probably their most successful game series to date and still struggled to reach 2 million in a couple of months meanwhile you have shit like Nightreign sell 2 million in day or two based on Fromsoft brand recognition alone.

I feel like in the ps2 games you had to control the map and the reinforcement points on the map since if you just skipped everything and charged a general you'd likely get killed easily.
