When was the last time you felt like you actually got a deal out of Steam sales?

When was the last time you felt like you actually got a deal out of Steam sales?

I keep seeing old ass games selling for up to 40 bucks or "30% off" when back in the day they would be like 90% off after a couple of years of release.

It still happens, just pretty rare

The biggest deals are at Christmas

Still wondering if RE4 is worth 20 bucks. I thought Ashley was kinda hot I guess. Last time I played that game was on the GameCube

Publishers got wise to people buying on sales even a game is 20% off so they have set prices accordingly. The market has increased dramatically, so there's more people buying, even if the discounts aren't as steep.

the remake plays totally different.

Guess they will have to get wise to me pirating every game then.

I think zoomers waste money more easily. I can't imagine anyone having experienced the old steam sales with flash sales and shit ever paying 15 bucks for a 7 year old game like subnautica. Also I keep seeing videos of people living with like 50k in debt because they door dash every meal they eat.

Rdr2 for 20 bucks, that's a fair price

It's that, PC used to be much more niche even 10 years ago and wasn't competing with consoles. Now it's in direct competition with consoles so games don't go on sale for 90% like they used to.

You can shades of how it used to be right now with how PC Game Pass is cheaper than the Xbox Game Pass, because 10 years ago no one was buying PC games just like right now no one is buying PC game pass.

you will still pay

Do older games get worse as time passes. No. In rare cases, they actually get better. You should be paying MORE for old games than new ones because they were made by more competent devs.

When was the last time you felt like you actually got a deal out of Steam sales?

before they introduced refunds

You don't need "great deals" if you buy steam keys from other stores that actually has good deals.
Also I'm only buying one or two games per sale. I've bought too many game that I never got to play.

KCD for 6$ was a pretty good deal

does the binding of isaac rebirth complete bundle ever go on sale?

It was economically unsustainable, unfortunately. They had to stop because people were getting too used to valuing games at $1-$5 which was too low for games to survive as a business.

Yakzua Infinite Wealth for 50% off

not bad for a game not even a year old

I got NecroVision for a dollar. Felt like a good deal until I actually played it. A few years ago, you could get MK11 for super cheap because someone fucked up and made it so you could buy it + Injustice 2 for a stupidly low price.

i don't care really
i just wait for a game i want to be on sale and then buy it
i'm not going to buy some shit game i don't want just because it's 90% off or whatever

They never sell Cyberpunk for less than 30€

I got Hogwarts for $20 or so, that wasn't bad

i got the talos principle for like 2 dollars
and kcd for $4.99 including all the DLC

I just bought trepang2 for like 60% off, it came out last year.

Yeah it's worth 20 I'd say

I really should've jumped when it was going for $10 after launch

Probably when they still had flash sales
All their meme-ing about

well we're removing them so people don't get FOMO but don't worry you'll just get the highest discount over the course of the entire sale :^)

was such a load of fucking bullshit

I don't know exactly which one was the last one. I got Berserk for 9.99 just like Days Gone.

Last time I bought a game on Steam was 3 years ago, apparently, lmao
Not my fault that all those CD key resellers are generally cheaper and I'm only buying shit when I need the non-pirated version for some reason

Mafia I, II, and III, in a bundle for 15 euros, just a couple of weeks ago, actually.

After they experienced Steam sales' money, publishers got too greedy, and even greedier against third world countries. After they destroyed regional pricing, I'm just getting my games off third party stores. Fuck them.

Right now? I heard there's a bunch of shit on sale for like one dollar

2K, EA, Ubisoft and another company like them have the best deals, unironically. EA even lets you test their newest game for 10 hours. Ubisoft lets you play their newest release for 15 bucks, I think. 2K is crazy and sells their games for 90-95% off.

Capcom and ActBliz are the jewest of them. Old AC games are like 20 bucks and they're like 15 years old. There should be a bundle of all of them by now

Last game I bought, Fight N Rage for $0.99. It was heavily discounted as was awesome.

I've scored some fire deals from Steam over the past two years.

Dishonored - $2.97

Amnesia: The Dark Descent - $0.97

XCOM Collection - $19.99

Half-Life Collectin - $3.98

Castlevania Anniversary Collection - $3.99

Titanfall 2 - $4.99

deal

These things don't even exist. You're paying for nothing.

I've probably bought fewer games on Steam in the past 7 years than I did in the first two years I used it. You used to be able to get tons of great deals. Now you just see "bargains" such as five year old games being 10 bucks off of original price. Yeah, I'm just not gonna buy that.

4day Halloween sale

discounts are barely discounts

probably because they're going to have a sale at the end of November and then also the usual winter sale at the end of december/into january
this is just to capitalize on the muh heckin horror month fags. although they should've done it like mid-october for that

Shenmue 3 is on sale right now at 95% off

earlier this year I got the Mass Effect remaster triology for $6, and Anno 1800 for about $10. Both were 90%+ off

Yesterday
I got Shenmue 3 for 2 bucks

nowadays the only way to get a good deal is by using key sites

there will never again be steam christmas events where entire free games from their still well curated store are given out at random

take me back bros...
