Are we getting a direct in june like usual or did the april direct and june release throw that out of wack?

Direct logo.jpg - 778x205, 40.7K

Probably gets pushed to July but likely, they'll want to detail what Switch 2 games are coming for this holiday.

It'll probably get pushed back when the launch gets pushed back.

when the release date gets pushed back

Why the fuck would they do that? If anything they're going to want to try and take advantage of as much of the tariff pause as possible.

Maybe as a shorter Switch 2 launch direct, but I doubt we will see another full size direct until closer to the holidays.

Trump said computer electronics were exempted from the tariff

Their last Direct only really covered the early launch window stuff for Summer, so I think we can definitely expect another Direct sometime in late June or early July to cover what's releasing in Fall/Holidays.

I guess they should drop the direct before the switch 2 release, so they announce games that are coming during release, would be retarded to do it after releasing the console, but more retarded things have been done.

June or July
They ran more Directs than usual in 2017 as well.
They'll reveal Air Riders, with Mario Kart out of the way. There is still plenty of third party ground to continue covering, Baldur's Gate 3, Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Persona 3, Metaphor, Hi-Fi Rush, Doom and more. We could see more paid upgrades from the pool of games that was not in the initial batch of paid or free upgrades, notably Pikmin 4, Smash Ultimate, Astral Chain, Mario Wonder, Xenoblade 3, Bayonetta 3 and Luigi's Mansion 3. Switch 1 meme games like Mario Sluggers, Planet Robobot HD and Yoshi's Woolly World HD-er. DK trailer 2 with Pauline reveal. There will probably be one or two big announcements for the Holiday season or early next year, not Mario or Zelda, but Splatoon, Fire Emblem or something from Monolithsoft.
Dear leader also said free trade with Mexico and Canada was the most beautifulest deal ever.

The provisions are specifically for computers and phones. Not game consoles or other electronics.

planet robobot HD

the fact that this could happen when we already have star crossed world and air riders on the way is really funny to me

They don't have anything dated past July 17th, so yeah.
June Directs usually happen in the 3rd, or 4th week of June, so it will happen well after SGF.
I wonder if 3rd parties will be able to announce their games are coming to Switch 2 at SGF

So like later july or early august?

I hope more Switch 2 games get announced during Summer Game Fest, wouldn't be surprised if the Direct gets pushed late June early July (they have to do one before DK to show Pauline)

HAL has probably been sitting on Robobot HD for quite some time. Probably meant to be another end of life title for Switch 1 like Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi.

Yeah, they’ve gotta hype up the holiday lineup, especially if Switch 2 is still aiming for a fall release. Even if they already covered summer in the April Direct, they can’t go silent for too long—people are expecting big first-party reveals, and third parties are probably lining up announcements now that dev kits are out. July feels right for a showcase, just like they did in 2017 after the June E3 spot.

Would be kino if true

why do you keep asking this

file.png - 776x418, 81.34K

There's plenty of Switch games still coming out.

it's not impossible, but I wouldn't hold my breath
September is more likely

Maybe a pokemon direct for the Xmas release

And yet we stil have no idea what switch 2 games will be released in the latter half of 2026

Would that be enough time to announce some big october and november releases?

We’re probably getting one (it’ll just announce the delay in the switch 2 releasing)

If they don't have anything in store besides Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, and Metroid then we are looking at a very grim and dry year.

They lineup for the rest of the year fucking blows, they need to make some big announcements so I think a direct in the summer is very likely.

The ones they had planned to release in May and June.

What are you talking about

MK8D is their best selling game ever, so I think that IS their big marketing game of the year. They probably plan to price adjust it to $60 for Christmas so that kids get a special treat under their tree. This year is going to SUCK.

I refuse to believe they won't at least announce something new to drum up some hype. Otherwise this entire holiday season will be dominated by GTA 6, assuming it comes out this year.

why does someone keep asking when the only worthwhile gaming events will happen

I don't know. I'm sorry he isn't asking for a State of Play, snoy-kun.

You're going to be disappointed, never expect a console to start getting worthwhile games in its first 2 years. I remember my 3DS collecting dust in its first year and getting Reggie's Mii in spot pass celebrating its 1 year anniversary. There was fucking nothing.

I should probably stop asking this for a while but admittedly the excitement and uncertainty about it considering how much was revealed in the e3 2017 direct after the switch 1 presentation and how little we know about what nintendo has in store for the second half of 2025 keeps me wondering

Go outside

They said that they will show more third-party games later. So maybe they'll show games that will come out in the second half of the year.

we are looking at a very grim and dry year.

The thing is out, with Mario Kart, in June
July is DK
August is not a game release month, typhoon season in Japan and the only month of the year when you can leave the house in the northern US, Canada, Finland, and Sweden; maybe Drag X Drive is August?
Which leaves four months to split between Kirby, Metroid, Hyrule Warriors and Pokemon. Kirby is Kirby, the Metroid trailers have been bland thus far, Hyrule Warriors is a tired meme that should not have gone for the third entry and Pokemon will be shit, but that is still hardly a drought, even before whatever gets announced in the Summer Direct. Also don't forget the avalanche of Gamecube games and third party ports.

never expect a console to start getting worthwhile games in its first 2 years

Switch 1? or, you know, Switch 2 getting a NEW MARIO KART on day one?????

Switch 1

The game that destroyed the Zelda series and a slightly different Splatoon? Don't make me laugh. You're definitely right about the new Hyrule Warriors game though, that series overstayed its welcome and they should've done it with a different franchise at this point. Mario going around smashing hordes of Goombas with a hammer would've been funny for example.

I feel like they’ll at least have either splatoon or animal crossing this year, probably animal crossing this year, splatoon next year

I'm thinking May at the earliest (showcase whats coming to hype up the S2 release in June) or Oct at the latest(showcase first and second quarter games).

If the next Animal Crossing shows the same glaring issues that NH had I'll skip out on that one.

NEW MARIO KART

I don't care for Mario Kart and prefer single player games. I know there's others like me out there. That's like a new Call of Duty dropping or something for me, I know people love it but I simply do not care.

if you disagree with some autist spamming the same thread over and over, you are LE SNOY

whatever helps you sleep at night autist

That would work

Probably september at the latest since september is mario’s 40th anniversary

probably animal crossing this year

Mental illness. Please, as an experiment, phone your sister and tell her that cute animal game is getting a new entry, but that she is going have to camp out at the shop at opening hours for months to get a chance to buy it. It is no fucking accident that New Horizons came out once there was ample market saturation as well as a cheaper model available. Animal Crossing benefits from an install base much more than it builds it. And think of the fucking viral nature of New Horizons even if your sister was hypothetically still interested, think of how it would not be able to spread rapidly to her friends and create a positive feedback loop on social media. If you worked for Nintendo and suggested this, your things would be on the curb the next morning.

I know there's others like me out there

Okay? Uncontacted tribesmen in the Amazon and field workers in Mao's China did not not listen to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Does that make it an irrelevant album? The existence of people who don't like literally the most popular thing in the world does not change the thing being thus. And before you

argumentum ad populum

lets remember that Mario Kart is likely going be over 95 on Opencritic as well.

prefer single player games

DK is out in a month and Metroid Prime 4 soon after.
regular Directs in June and October
Mario Direct in September

3D Mario reveal

first trailer for the shitty movie sequel

Miyamoto playing the 1-1 theme on a banjo or something else stupid

Mario Sunshine on NSO

Mario Sluggers for Switch 1

Luigi's Mansion 3: Switch 2 Edition: +Bowser Jr.s Journey

Mario X Rick Owens

June is as good a time as any for a direct, and they fucking need one.
Gonna be honest, sans, two, maybe three games the reveal direct was underwhelming at best people were only riding high becase a few really big names showed up. Nintendo needs June to really sell their console, espeically at the price they're suggesting

They need games, and lots of them to get people interested.

Please, as an experiment, phone your sister and tell her that cute animal game is getting a new entry, but that she is going have to camp out at the shop at opening hours for months to get a chance to buy it

Are we forgetting that NH was a system-seller and is the second-most sold switch game? Absolutely she’d be there every single early morning until she got her hands on that system

It was actually the same amount of game reveals as the switch 1 presentation but that does mean they’re probably gonna need to reveal some more games at some point this year

Are you forgotting the reason why it became so successful was because it released at the start of when we were all trapped in our own homes?

smash ultimate paid upgrade

Fuck no. Please let that game die.

I think those memories are gonna be a big draw for some players. Either way, we’re probably getting something from EPD 5 this year.

Nintendo needs June to really sell their console, espeically at the price they're suggesting

I'd argue holiday season is more important this year, launch month will always have stock issues and such.
That being said, imagine if after DK Bananza their only two games for the rest of 2025 are Metroid Prime 4, an actual Switch game pushed back so far Nintendo barely care about it and a Hyrule Warriors sequel set in a time period (without Link) that absolutely nobody fucking asked for.
I'll be really fucking shocked if they don't announce another big holiday title soon

Except not really, because most of the Switch 1 games that were announced were brand new, and hadn't been released yet. Damn near everything in the Switch 2 direct were just versions of games that we already had for years. There were exceptions of course, mostly first party. But it wasn't wasn't anywhere near the Switch 1 reveal

Switch 1

1 2 Switch
Snipperclips
BOTW
Mario Oddessey
Arms
FE Warriors
A new FE in general
Spatoon 2
Xenoblade 2

Switch 2

Mario Kart World

Welcome to Switch 2
Hyrule Warriors
Duskbloods
Kirby Air Riders
Donkey Kong Bananza

Woomy's game is coming. Splatoon 3 not getting any kind of Switch 2 version makes it obvious.

woomysmirk.png - 2000x1695, 165.64K

I didn't say June needed to sell well for them, I'm saying June they need to show off why people should buy the system in general

Also the fact the team couldn't even be bothered to do third kits in a game that couldn't stop making everything in Splatoon 3 center around the number 3.

Clearly the game was operating with limited staff in the later seasons with the rest being put towards 4.

The next Splatoon is going to be a remake of Splatoon 1

why would anyone expect another direct so soon when they JUST did TWO directs showing upcoming games?

Redpill me on Splatoon

the biggest Direct ever does not count because their weren't two dozen new high budget games specifically appealing to ME

spending so much time on voicechat and a last gen Mario Party did not help their case, but the epic meme Direct in your head with Darkstalkers 4, Half Life 3, Etrian Odyssey 6, F-Zero 4, Ice Climber 2, Kid Icarus 3, Final Fantasy 17, Resident Evil 9, Meet-And-Fuck Kingdom HD Remake, Persona 6, Minecraft 2, Starcraft 3, Fire Emblem 18, Pokemon: A Hideo Kojima Game, Ace Combat 8, Thief 5 and whatever number you consider Zelda to be on, is never going to happen
and the irony is that you, and anyone else, would have called anyone who beforehand leaked open world Mario Kart, AAA 3D DK, Bloodborne 2 exclusive and Air Rider 2, a liar pushing unrealistic fantasies
Snipperclips was not in the Switch 1 reveal or press conference, nor was Fire Emblem 3H, they only said in a later Fire Emblem Direct that the next Fire Emblem game would be on the system
the difference is that they have tons of big third party ports to work through this time, whereas Switch 1 had no fucking third party stuff to show and had to compensate by announcing everything first party at once and having a drunk Suda declare his intent to eventually make a game with Travis Touchdown on Switch

That would be great, Splatoon 1 is the most fun
Roll it back to the fundamentals

Splatoon: didn't play
Splatoon 2 main campaign: eh
Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion: based
Splatoon 3 campaign: eh (better than 2 though)
Splatoon 3 Side Order: MID

Where will Splatoon 4 land?

Squid children in skin tight shorts spend their afternoons shaking their asses around and participating in recreational bloodsports

I think a lot of people are assuming because Nintendo have done fuck all for the past 5 years that all their work has been on Switch 2 games they couldn't talk about until it was announced. Now it's here... where the fuck are the games?

They haven't shown CoD or XIV yet so something has gotta happen soon surely.

Grandfest is just going to influence the hub aesthetics and single player.

Hope you like rural Japan.

He means they need a June direct to announce and show off holiday titles for the system. We have nothing for the Switch 2 in that period yet, unless they genuinely think Legends Z-A is enough and I genuinely hope they don't think the Switch 2's first big holiday season should just be a cross gen Pokemon spin-off.

It's like a paintball match while poppy music plays and you can do sick parkour movements.

If we could get an entire hub with the vibes of Flounder Heights with cicada noises and shit that'd be peak.

the March Direct was a last gen nothingburger
Switch 1 had a Direct one month after launch, and that was at a time of year where you don't get Directs, after the Switch 2 launch is notE3 season which usually has a Direct anyways
there's still huge amounts of inevitable third party ports like Kingdom Hearts, all of the PS4 Resident Evil games and this year's Call of Duty that need to be announced

I'm gonna cope and assume they'll have one in June because the Switch 2 direct really didn't do it for me when it comes to game announcements. There were barely any new first parties and it was almost entirely them showing off Switch 2 edition games and third party ports of already released games. I genuinely got more games I'm interested in from the Switch 1 direct right before it. I'm praying they held back on the first party titles so they could pad a June direct with all new stuff.

Snipperclips was not in the Switch 1 reveal or press conference

Maybe I'm misrembering, but I'm pretty sure it was

nor was Fire Emblem 3H,

3H was though. After Warriors, they all but explicitly said "it's coming guys". It's not much, but it was there.

In any case, even if you removed both. You still have tons of first party games they showed off and big ones at that.

whereas Switch 1 had no fucking third party stuff to show

They revealed enough. Travis Stikes Back (which everyone thought was NMH3), Octopath Traveler, SMTV, and Dragon Quest did a lot for the Switch 1, granted, it took awhile for some of them to release. But it was something.

Switch 2, in contrast, sure has plenty of third party games, but nothing actually buy a console worthy. Sega especially pissed me off with showing Yakuza 0 and pretending like that's a big deal, like we don't literally already fucking have the game a dozen other ways.

That Hyrule Warriors sequel to a sequel could literally be their only holiday Switch 2 game... Surely they aren't that dumb...

Clearly the game was operating with limited staff in the later seasons with the rest being put towards

another mediocre animal crossing, then they'll be released back to the splatoon mines for another mediocre splatoon.

Last direct had fuck all, this direct had fuck all. The last few years have been fuck all with people saying "Nintendo is prepping games for the Switch 2!". So I asked you, where the FUCK are all of these games?

i hope they reveal new animal crossing and new zelda
mario kart isn't enough to justify buying a $700 console

I have no problem with Nintendo pursuing BotW's style for future Zelda installments but holy shit why did Hyrule Warriors have to be relegated to strict nu-Zelda only status too? The first game was such a fun celebration of the entire series' history and instead of building on that we're getting a warriors game where the cast is "LET ME TELL YOU THE TALE OF THE IMPRISONING WAR" 4x. Come on man

Speaking of Splatoon 3, how did the final Splatfest end? I don't have the game.

Team Past won, as for what the implications of that will be no one knows.

Final Splatfest was Past/Present/Future, represented by the Squid Sisters, Off The Hook, and Deep Cut. Present had the most votes, but Past had the best battle performance and won the Splatfest.

anon Nintendo is a Japanese company, they aren't gonna push back the launch and the directs because America is stupid

Hold up, let me ponder my orb.

ad3.jpg - 610x535, 119.12K

At least Deep Cut got blown the fuck out by every single metric. Nobody likes those shitters.

And they expect us to think this will actually tell us the events when the last game pulled AU shit? If they wanted to give us more interesting lore at least have it take place during the war when Link was a baby in OoT, the ancient hero mentioned in Minish Cap, the imprisoning war mentioned in Twilight Princess, anything would've been more interesting than this BotW slop.

They're gonna be staggered out of course

it's just going to be a regular release schedule bro

So the devs have been sitting on their asses. Got it.

The Fire Emblem Warriors trailer was a logo reveal and two seconds of Chrom picking up a sword, followed by

those games you just saw were Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Koei Tecmo's Fire Emblem Warriors. Next we would like to introduce our third party partners....

You are thinking of a later Fire Emblem Direct. They decided to say Fire Emblem and Pokemon would be switching to Switch, but that is not needed this time, because it is the same line, there are no copium 4DS holdouts to shoot down.

No

bait.jpg - 393x327, 23.26K

I very excitee for Mario World Kart direct on thurs I hope that it reveals the adventure Mode .

Regardless, the point doesn't change. The Switch 1 presentation had a lot more to offer, granted they also had a lot more to prove after the utter failure of the Wii U, but still.

By a lot more, it’s more like 1 or 2 games at most. I mean, if you count BOTW, you may as well count the switch 2 edition games

You know for damn sure nobody bought BOTW on the Wii U or even realizes it is techincally a Wii U game. And even just on the face of it Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, and hell, even Arms, mean more than most of what the Switch 2 showed, sans the final 3 games, which is still one less than the Switch 1 had.

And again, this isn't even going into the 3rd party reveals generally being better too.

They'll spend some time jerking off around in an empty world as if it's a big deal and then announce the indefinite delay of the US launch. Have fun.

I felt the exact opposite with the exception of splatoon 2 and mario odyssey, which I find equal announcements to dk bananza and kirby air riders

instead of shitty lockers we get a fully customizable room like in the loading screen

geats.gif - 498x281, 3.7M

customizable room

you can't enter or interact with it in any way

only exists to farm for upfreshes

Launch won't get pushed back, since the system is launching globally June 5th.
USA's shit situation might complicate things for North America but Europe and Asia will still get theirs.

We may get one in July, August, or potentially September, because I doubt they were anywhere near done talking about Switch 2 exclusives.

The Switch 1 had so many "end of life" title drops last year that it felt like Switch 2 should've happened much sooner than it did.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD was a false herald to the end of the Switch, after Luigi's Mansion 3D heralded the end of the 3DS.

It was likely planned to but Nintendo wanted one last Holiday season.
