Monster Hunter

So why DID Anon Babble and the MH community as a whole spend this game's entire lifespan dragging it through the mud? It was easily the best game in the series in the last 8 years.

Playing World again after finishing Rise was so jarring it made me never play Rise again.

Out of the anime-Monster Hunters, GU is simply better in every way.

Because it came out exclusively on a Nintendo console first

I recently played through every MH again starting with FU and had so little fun with World that I couldn't even finish Iceborne. Rise is so different from what I enjoy about 3U/4U but I find it extremely engaging and fun. World pretends that its a more grounded experience while giving you anime attacks, including things that used to be hunter arts in GU as normal attacks, while making the monsters the slowest they have ever been with awful tracking. I didn't cart a single time in my recent World playthrough and killed Nergi for the first time in 7 minutes. It also has the worst base hub, characters, most intrusive story, awful maps, monsters double roaring, constant dung pods, the worst new monsters in the series, no monster variety, its just fucking awful.
Certainly not in every way. GU didn't bother to change the movesets of older monsters to keep up with the new pace of the game, while Rise actually gave meaningful changes to practically the entire roster like Rath and Kush. It's progression is also terrible and makes you do an immense amount of filler.

It felt more like animal abuse than monster hunting

I had 0 fun in Rise, GS is so overpowered in that game that there was no fun to be had

the whole MH community

v shitposters are not the entire mh community

Mostly console wars and people that played World as their first title.
Rise was nearer to the classic games and people that started with world believed that the story and graphics are the important part.
I hope they manage to get the moveset swaps back into future games.

believed that the story and graphics are the important part

well it certainly isn't the gameplay, monster hunter gameplay is hot garbage (also too easy)

bing bing wahoo!

I'm assuming youtube, gamefaqs, steam discussions, reddit, and most game forums also aren't the MH community, right? Because they all also hate MHR.

Then why is Sunbreak the highest rated MH on Steam?

Filler? My brother in Christ, everything before Primordial Malzeno is filler in Rise. He's the first monster in the game who fights back at all.

I'm sure that it's weapon dependent, but Rise was thousands of times more engaging than World in every single aspect. Zinogre in IB is a cucked, nonthreat compared to his old world appearances, while Rise actually upgraded him. World LR for example only has fucking Rathalos and Diablos at the end, while also making Diablos a joke that's head is a weakpoint and Rathalos permagrounded by flashpods. Rise LR has Zinogre, Nargacuga and Mizutsune, all actually buffed. Rise monsters in general also have perfect tracking while World monsters attack fucking nothing. The HR Hub Mizu in Rise is considerably more difficult than anything in base World, by a substantial margin.

Just about everybody I knew was getting clapped by the HR Mizu urgent in the base game.

Hell, when Sunbreak came out I was constantly getting quest fails due to randoms dying in Nargacuga and Barioth quests. That would be unheard of in World. I don't think Rise is as difficult as say, 4U/FU/Tri, but its certainly a hell of a lot more difficult than World. A HR Kulu has as much HP as a LR Village Kulu in Rise.

Returning monsters in Rise were nerfed compared to gen 3/4. G-rank Nargacuga used to combo you to death if you didn't understand his behaviour, whereas in both gen 5 games you can just win by button-mashing.

youtu.be/KpVRg4ikm5M?t=140
I just replayed through the series over the past few months, you are either lying or entirely forgetting what the experience is actually like.

It was easily the best game in the series

Because it's clearly not, and you suck copious amounts of penis.

Sunbreak is fantastic and Rise is very good. "People" just chimped out over 3 mandatory quests.

Gen 3 = MH3, Portable 3rd, 3U
Gen 4 = MH4, 4U, G, GU
Gen 5 = World (Iceborne), Rise (Sunbreak)

In the last 8 years

Because it clearly is

Pretty much this

You claimed that in both gen 5 games you can win by button mashing without understanding the monster's behavior. That is blatantly false and only the case in World .

Why is it only considered appropriate to trash rise for "nerfing monsters" when both world and wilds were far more egregious?

False

Truth.png - 680x697, 445.43K

Because only rice and poopbreak nerfed monsters, world didn't

Are you a child?
The sites 18+, nobody that age would type that.

You have already chosen your pitiful end

Same reasons they are no shitting on Wilds. The only real difference between the two is that Rise ran like shit only on Switch while Wilds run like shit on anything below the top of mid-range GPUs.

Holy shit you are a child. Get the fuck out of here.

bro it's the same and has been happening for every new game, especially if they belong to a known ip

Sunbreak easily has the best roster of monsters.

World had the exact same problem as Rise, but it was redeemed by the expansion's post-launch content, which does mog Sunbreak's quite handily.

It was good until endgame.
Anomalies are the worst postgame grind monhun has ever seen.

Sizeable portion of MH fans hate every game that isn't their first one

Rise was mid and it was exclusive to a bing bing machine

Sunbreak is kino and on all platforms

why

I played the demo
what a pile of shit

You'd have a heart-attack if you played GU.

I have played GU, it was the last game I replayed before going into World again. GU is easier than 4U, substantially so if you use one of the broken style/weapon combinations like Valor LS. None of the old monsters received any changes to compensate for the increased pace of combat, but yes the deviants are great and obviously much better than the half-assed Rise Apex

having to post modded videos because you lost the argument

You need to get better at baiting

You have already chosen your pitiful end

Normalfags hate it because "muh graffix" Anon Babble is now normalfag heaven, that's why it's so hated here.
Sunbreak is easily top 3 MH games.

Rise > World for a few reasons

1. no mantles/boosters
2. monsters only have one "special incapacitate state", being wyvern ride, which is only triggerable once per hunt. clutch claw stagger is constant and interrupts the entire flow of the game in world
3. insanely fast monsters, even fucking LR kulu has tight tracking and double leaps when enraged

It ruined every weapon I liked to play and I couldn't settle on another one I liked all the way to clearing Primo Malzeno so the experience overall was a drag. I'd probably have had a better time if I was a LStard

Every time a new game comes along, a new bunch of "veterans" turn up and start comparing a monster from G-rank of the previous game to the high rank of the new title.

LMAO bring it on, all you can do is make threads perpetually crying about successful games. Here's to another 8 years of you failing to achieve anything.

Rise wins simply because there is no gay clutch claw tenderize.

you can switch the skills to whatever your preference is, what weapon do you play that was "ruined" by risebreak?

sunbreak is keeno, while wilds is more ludo

It really is the other way around. SB's content absolutely destroys IB's.

how do you do the spinning sword > axe transform at 0:03?

Also better endgame

HH

I pirated it, played for like 3 hours and then uninstalled, Monster Hunter is just not for me.

the main menu song and hub song were pure 10/10 music kino though.

Longsword was also downgraded compared to World. MMO cooldowns are an antithesis to the weapon's identity.

how was HH ruined by rise? t's faster, smoother, and stronger

It's simple really, Sunbreak is good because capcom can't optimize their games cuz they're a bunch of hacks.

The reason Sunbreak was so highly rated is because it runs on the switch in turn meaning it looks like ass and any potato computer can use it.
It doesn't actually say too much about the actual mechanics of Rise/Sunbreak
I thought the scrolls were the absolute most horrid thing theyve ever added to monster hunter and crutchclaw exist.

This all said Sunbreak>IB end of the day

Yeah it was such a great improvement that they threw away the entire concept in the following game

Don't talk to me

MMO cooldowns are an antithesis to the weapon's identity.

They added MMO cooldowns to every weapon man (aside from like GL?), LS isn't special for that

that they threw away the entire concept in the following game

this is not an argument

The only good content in Sunbreak is Primordial Malzeno.

The first attack to turn the sword back into the axe looks like the standard transform slash. The back wars moving attack after looks like the followup by holding back whilst attacking.

Did you play the game? No weapon forces any cooldowns on you. You can play the entire thing without ever using a wirebug skill.

And special investigations(nearly every single monster in the roster)
And hazard quests

Rise is dog shit

I like wirebugs, having to choose between mobility, recovery, and special attacks is really interesting and has a lot of skill expression in a way the other games don't

the scrolls were the absolute most horrid thing theyve ever added

Scrolls were great. Adding more expression for players with additional switch skills and letting you swap between sets of skills mid fight with additional passive skills that make you think about what scroll you're using really fed into the core changes of rise imo

It is way too fluid and plays well
MH should be clunky, stiff, the character should stand still and pose after drinking a potion because it forces the player to THINK and PLAN AHEAD, you should be able to fail eating and get debuffs instead of buffs, the map should de divided in small areas with loading between them, it's not OK for the LS to be good in any capacity and NPC companions are BAD because it's like SUMMONING IN DARK SOULS THEY'LL KILL THE MONSTER FOR YOU

I tried the demo and I actually like how it looked. Has more color than World which was way too dull compared to the old games.

I thought the scrolls were the absolute most horrid thing theyve ever added to monster hunter

This makes no sense whatsoever. Whats the issue with having a moveset that you can freely swap out with an entirely different moveset without interrupting the flow of a fight.
It sounds like finding issue with somethnig simply for existing when you have no obligation to use it and ignoring them has no negative impact on your game.

Mh will never be like this again thanks to world

Have you ever just stood back and let the hunters do their thing?

I thought the scrolls were the absolute most horrid thing theyve ever added to monster hunter and crutchclaw exist.

let me guess you also hate style switching in DMC4 and 5

Some people don't like having options, it makes them unable to make decisions

thats just the directional sword to axe morph

I love npc companions. Playing with other players always feels too op in rise, even in anomaly investigations

Wirebugs get way too much hate. It was a much better way of handling hunter art CD's than the way GU did it. The mobility they provide is overexaggerated by people since getting knocked on your ass gives you i-frames until you get up anyway and hits that don't give you i-frames don't allow you to wirefall regardless.

um actually it's not a downgrade because if you use the weapon as if you were playing MH2, you don't notice the bad game design

Nigga you are not for real

I hope Itchynose can pull another miracle with the next portable game after the damage Wilds has done to the core gameplay.

One player being utterly incapable of free choice shouldn't mean others have to miss out.
I hate the idea of "I don't like it so nobody should have it." when they are never forced to use the system.

No I happily make full use of wirebugs and switch skills, but to complain about them when you can perform perfectly fine without is dumb.

shitendo exclusive for a year

shit endgame before sunbreak

rampages

-graphically unimpressive even on PC, especially map wise

sunbreak releases and is the most anime game next to GU if not one-upping it

it deserved all the hate. it's not our fault our vision is 20/20 and couldn't foresee MH getting even worse in the next game 10fold that it makes sunbreak look peak in comparison.

the upside is I lost all faith in the mainline games, so I won't be as harsh on the portable team in the next game, i promise.

>sunbreak releases and is the most anime game next to GU if not one-upping it

Is this a bad thing or what

Look up longsword gameplay on youtube.

Yes, there's a reason world and wilds sold the most out of the series and are heavily western inspired, not anime bingshit

They sold the most because of heavy marketing and releasing on every console simultaneously. Rise is still their second best selling title of all time, above every RE game.

sales.jpg - 829x775, 99.82K

no it le failed!

To achieve what? I've played every game since Tri. Play the games however you want.

They sold the most because they're the most accessible and casual in the series that stray the furthest from their roots. Also like the other anon pointed out, rise wasn't too shabby if you do want to kvetch about sales

So why DID Anon Babble and the MH community as a whole spend this game's entire lifespan dragging it through the mud?

Switch exclusive for a while. Gotta keep the tribalfagging alive after all.

because it was made for switch

did you think that nintendo derangement syndrome was a meme? it's very real

Gotta keep the tribalfagging alive after all.

I'm so sick of console wars

False
False

False

Other way around

especially since they're pretty much pointless now, nintendo are the only ones with any exclusives left sony and microsoft release their games on every platform

I don't really care much for Nintendo games or exclusives as a whole. I just want more good games and rise is that imo.

still caring about graphics

Nigger. Base rise before tus still had more content than wilds. Also craftable decos

Rise was nearer to the classic games and people that started with world believed that the story and graphics are the important part.

What a fucking stupid claim. Rise is basically an arcade action game, all the hunting elements were stripped away entirely for it to focus purely on combat. World is far closer to the classic formula since it still places an emphasis on the maps and monsters moving through them and following them around.
I don't give a fuck about the story and it was obnoxious in World but the actual gameplay is where Rise has far less in common with the classic games than World does.

Horrendous take from someone that likely started with World. In old gen games the monster almost always moved to the next location over, requiring a few seconds of walking and a loading screen to enter combat again. Rise makes moving around the maps actually engaging and fun for once, including endemic life that you can catch and use on the go. World is the odd one out and anyone who has played the entire series knows that.

Why do you pretend to know about something in a thread full of people who know far more than you?

amerimutts hate anything that isn't localized to their tastes

But Rise is basically a sequel to GU's gameplay

Rise made Worldfags nervous because it relayed the inevitable passing of time, and that World was about to lose its youngest-child bias to whatever mainline game came next.
They tried doing to Wilds what they did to Rise, but unlike Rise the normies and many fivers actually went all in on Wilds leaving the die-hard Worldfags to rot, rolling around in their own feces and lashing out at anyone who enjoys the older or newer games.

The main issues affecting the community discourse now are just unironic shills. But it’s been fun seeing the world fans slide further and further from their seat of prestige

IMG_3086.jpg - 1024x1024, 72.61K

The scrolls itself wasnt the problem, but you coud trigger some armor and/or switch skills and carry that over to another moveset or activate stuff.
That was too much.
I dont mind if someone can change their loadout midfight.

Worse than World, GU and 4U

how was HH ruined by rise? t's faster, smoother, and stronger

yeah at the expense of losing it's entire identity, it's an instrument weapon where you do not even play the instrument in rise. all that for a 1% increase of playrate. fucking kill yourself for defending that shit.

My niggah, every Game in the Series that we westeners call classic is basicly a portable game.
They streamlined the whole series into you starting a quest and killing shit with less and less downtime throughout the generations.
Why did we get the pocket farm?
So we woudnt need to grind for herbs and shit.

Rise is this in injected form.
And i love it.

I cant even kill Zoh Shia or Jin Dahaad in Wilds when i want to, cause i first need the according investigation.
So i have to fuck around in the open world to progress the timer and hunt complete shitters that get curbstomped, for rewards that are literally useless(Artian Rarity below 8).
In Rise i could atleast level up the shitmons and have a fight where i actually have to fight.

Kill Immersionfags.

there was never a time in rise's history where you ran out of bugs.

then switch to the other performance mode and stop whining

I agree for the most part. I like the distinction between portable and immersive. Or at least when immersive was immersive (world was not immersive) but if we're going for portable then let's go all the way and make it a mechanically fun and fluid toe to toe game like rise

So hating on bad games is consider a crime now?
Fucking Anon Babble has fallen

have you actually played HH in rise? you still do not play the actually songs in performance mode they happen automatically when you do the combinations. why are you speaking on things you have no fucking knowledge of

If it wasn't for "portable" games monhun would be fucking dead and buried like lost planet

Lost planet should have taken off

for the people that disagree with this what are even the similarities between rise and oldgen monhun that makes rise closer to the classic games. the only game rise comes close to is GU and thats only in combat.
