based versochad
still no verso'jak
this game riled up the chuds and chads so much
Is this the thread where Maellefags get BTFO again? I don't know how much more of a beating you homos can take.
She can paint over other people's creations and brainwash them
This is why her version of Verso knows he is trapped, but Sciel/Lune and others are completely brainwashed
Jesus fucking Christ, you are so fucking dumb, it must be illegal for the niggers like you to touch any piece of media ever.
Critical thinking
Versofags
kek
She can paint over other people's creations and brainwash them
i'm pretty sure people KEEP FUCKING TELLING you that she didn't paint fucking shit because Scie and Lune were fucking fromaged. you fucking idiot. the ending is showing that she unlocked the talent that renoir and verso kept telling her she had and she was able to completely repaint everyone from gustav to lune to verso.
fuck off retard
Judging by your retarded posts, it seems to me that your dumb nigger ass just outright skipped most of the endgame content, or you are too fucking retarded to actually kill any bosses, so you quit like a pussyass bitch you are. Here, nigger, watch this, and shut the fuck up.
youtu.be
In the Maelle ending, why are Esquie and Monoco completely ok with Verso suffering especially knowing what he's been through? Seems extremely OOC especially since Monoco himself is based on a loyal dog
the ending is showing
The ending shows us her doing exactly what she said she was going to do with enough chroma: bring everyone back who was lost. She never unlocked any "hidden talent", you dumb fuck. And no, she did not "repaint" anything. She CANNOT do this. Versofags have literal brain damage.
Exactly. They died before Verso and Maelle had their duel. There was nothing to paint over.
can't even get their point across without posting a fucking youtube video
christ
fromaged
This game is honestly completely retarded. Both endings suck ass.
bring everyone back
what to do you think repainting is?
it's resurrecting. you fucking idiot.
Please don't debunk my retarded posts by posting the actual source material!
???
completely repaint everyone from gustav to lune to verso.
Any proof of this, besides your retarded headcanon? No? Then fuck off, nigger. She was studying for 16 years IRL, and her best painting is toddler-tier garbage. Yet now, she "unlocked" her talent, even though she ignored it for most of her life and preferred writing/reading to painting. Yeah right, sure thing, nigger.
that line of dialog means she can't repaint the broken clea in front of her you moron
the fact the FUCKING DIED?
see
Because Verso gets over it after a few months. Similar to how suicidal people end up getting over their depression.
what to do you think repainting is?
Do you? "Repainting = Painting Over" you illiterate nigger. Try to read for the first time in your life. It's not reconstructing them from chroma.
She said she cannot paint over someone else's creation. Which includes Painted Clea and anyone else, you shiteating retarded mother fucker. Don't @em with more of your braindead drivel.
nta but not being able to explain points yourself is weak - and as the other anon said they linen of dialog you're referring to is maelle not being able to fix the broken clea directly on front of them - it's not the same as bringing the dead back.
also remember that Gustave didn't gomage so how the fuck did she bring him back?
Anons I'm tired of those threads, how many times do I have to explain to retards that Verso ending is the only good choice you have.
Maelle either dies and Renoir destroys the painting or Clea and Renoir force her out before she is dead and destroy the painting.
In the verso ending she is spared from going full drug addict to the point of no return.
Painted people are also not real, they are like the people in your dreams, they feel real but are not.
"Repainting = Painting Over"
no it isn't you dumb cunt painting over is replacing an already live being like the broken clea
jesus christ you're frothing at the mouth you're so stupid
also remember that Gustave didn't gomage so how the fuck did she bring him back?
She literally says she lacks access to the chroma necessary to do so. Chroma which Renoir controlled. ...Are you people playing the game?
that doesn't answer the question
you can't bring back non-fromaged people with just chroma
pretty much. he should look like the weird ones brought back at the end who look like the enemies in renoir's drafts.
no it isn't you dumb cunt painting over is replacing an already live being like the broken clea
You can't even read a fucking picture and are brute forcing your bullshit as if I'm going to take your illiterate ass seriously. Not happening, retard. "Repainting" is explicitly defined here. "Painting over" another's creation. Fuck off. You lost.
alicia obviously left the canvas to redo everything and went back in
this fued is so stupid
bro you just proved my point
What do you want me to do? I can post my own screenshot if you want. Happy now, nigger?
Yes, both Sciel and Lune DIED too, you dumbfuck piece of shit. Do you even understand what "painting over someone" means, or are you just pretending to be retarded?
1) Painters can resurrect/create/repaint over things using Chroma
2) Chroma is essentially a soul essence
3) Only the most skilled painters can paint over other paintings, meaning they can literally mindcontrol/"rewrite" them, as seen in the Flying Manor with the painted Clea
Maelle is not even skilled enough to do anything besides the most basic shit, aka take existing chroma and put it back into the body of the dead person. AND EVEN THEN she was taught by fucking Verso, because HE HAS the memories of the real Verso. How fucking hard is it to understand that she LITERALLY can't mind-control anyone because she is unskilled as the paintress? Play the fucking game
Clea....
take the L
THE EXPEDITION IS REMOVED FROM THE CANVAS
I NEEDED ONE MORE TURN
git gudder
Do you feel like a hero yet?
replying to someone from a 404'd thread
lmao what a faggot
Her canvas, her choice, CHUDso
explain gustave
you're missing a few chromasomes
LMAO
maelle simps are so fucking dumb
Clea created Nevrons
Nevrons kill expeditioners so that their chroma will stay "frozen" in their bodies
She does so to weaken her mother and give her father an upper hand in their fight
Painted Renoir killed Gustave, his chroma is still in the fucking painting, but it was controlled by Aline and then the real Renoir. Painted Renoir hunts expeditioners down just so that their chroma can go back to Aline, and to stop them from killing her. We defeat Aline, we defeat real Renoir, now Maelle has access to all of the chroma in the canvas, she literally opens the vault and resurrects everyone.
You are a literal mongoloid that got filtered by the story, it's not even a fucking headcanon. All of the things I wrote are told to you IN THE GAME. You are too fucking retarded to understand how any of this shit works, kys nigger.
maellefags didn't play the game
now Maelle has access to all of the chroma in the canvas, she literally opens the vault and resurrects everyone.
nice head canon
you have to be pretty assblasted to make a new thread linking to an old one because you got btfo
Didn't play the game
Hello, fellow Maellefag!
here even linked it in the general
HAHAHA HAHA HOLY SHIT
>now Maelle has access to all of the chroma in the canvas, she literally opens the vault and resurrects everyone.
You can bring them back too, yeah? Everyone we've lost.
I- Yeah, but I need chroma. And Papa controls all the chroma in the canvas.
And then we beat Renoir and now Maelle is the sole paintress with all access to chroma in the canvas. I know you have liquid dogshit for a brain and cannot just take the fucking L and will reply with retardation that I will not reply to, but you dumb nogs only come here to argue and haven't actually played the damn game.
aliciafags will constantly resort to lies, strawmen and outright headcannon to support their unwinnable position
There should have been a sort of secret Renoir ending. He's the only good family member.
Watching a streamer at the end
Picks Verso and goes "Of course I'm picking Verso, it makes sense"
Screen shows "Epilogue : A life to love"
Chat, what does Epilogue mean?
Smartest Versofag.
I saw this same video.
Holy shit, how can someone be such a dimwit?
Streamer
Aside from that.
i chose the verso ending because i didn't want alicia turning into her crackhead mother
Explain the subtle differences between Maelle and Alicia-Maelle.
I need to see this in real time. Who am I going to laugh at?
Based. Crippled BBQ bacon with no voice and one eye with breathing issues grieving the loss of your whole second family on top of your dead brother is the patrician choice.
Verso is fine. He is just moved by the beauty of restored Lumiere.
maelle pure and innocent, did nothing wrong
alicia-maelle, drug addict
sounds like it builds character.
better than a crackhead at least.
Book Daenerys vs show Daenerys.
either dies and Renoir destroys the painting
That hasn't been decided yet. Plenty of time for Alicia to negotiate things and no pressing reason to destroy it once Alicia is gone.
Clea and Renoir force her out
Renoir got defeated when he had all the chroma. I wonder if he could actually do that now that Alicia is in full control.
Painted people are also not real
You're dumb. Nobody is real.
Regains memories for 5 seconds after 16 years of living canvas
Doesn't want to leave and have Papa destroy it 5 seconds later
retards: HAHA! This bitch is addicted to paint XD
Actual clinical retardation.
Nobody is real
wait a minute does that mean I'm not real eit-
kek I can't argue with that
anon are you oka
Renoir got defeated when he had all the chroma. I wonder if he could actually do that now that Alicia is in full control.
Sure, but Maelle literally says he's weakened from his battle with Aline.
No ending where you burn the entire family of degenerates
this, after bringing sciel and lune back they explicitly say that bringing everyone back is the end goal after renoir
sciel wants to get her husband back, renoir says (whether genuine or not) that he has someone he wants to bring back too along with the expeditioners, etc
linking to dead thread
oh man you're mad lmao
Why do Versofags think I should care abouy his suffering? The piece of shit murdered countless expeditioners, lies to literally everyone, his only two friends are programmed to be his followers and he finishes off all lumerians in the end. No, I don't prioritize his mother over everyone else because I am not a psycho
You'll be fine as long as you don't mention niggerja-
WHERE THE FUCK IS MY BIKE?
sciel wants to get her husband back
not her child
this will never not crack me up
I picked Maelle's ending, but youtube.com
The game correctly portrayed woman.
They'll ruin something because they can't process emotions appropriately.
Yeah. Sure sounds like it how. How about you build some character yourself? Gouge out your eye, destroy your larynx, inhale lots of black smoke to make sure it permeates in your lungs, and cook your face on the stove for about 2 minutes. What are you waiting for, build ome character, anon! Oh, and make sure if you choose to do all of this by setting a fire, be sure one of your family members die in it. You'll come out a better person, I swear.
lucian stole it
trust me. it builds character.
she didn't even know she was pregnant. She found out after trying to drown herself in grief.
Kid was never born
kek
she only mentions the kid if you do the relationship stuff right? i assume she's just still keeping it a secret otherwise
they should've still showed up in the maelle end tho so idk
She found out after trying to drown herself
she knows then, so why doesn't she ask for the baby back along with her husband?
umm excuse me it's still a life
Lead by example, anon.
umm excuse me it's still a life
OH GOD DON'T DO THIS
Whats the name of the ost when the curator and maelle kill painted renoir?
trust him bro. it builds character.
trust the plana
i'd rather not. just know that it builds character.
based character builder
Source: just trust me bro
Sorry, anon. I need you deep fried and your family dead before I can take your word for it.
why do they keep talking about fax machines in this game? i'm confused..
All these fucking zoomers who just finished watching their favourite retard streamer play the game now feel obligated to share their opinions on the story.
A story they could barely followed because of a lack of subtitles and constant streamer commentary. Not to mention they were constantly fiddling with their phone at the same time.
I'll try to state this as plainly as possible to all you streamer watching fucks, zoomer or otherwise. You are retarded. There is no cure. You will always be retarded. Your opinions and insights are retarded and therefore worthless. You have nothing to offer to any discussion ever. Shut the fuck up.
i'm from florida
just trust me
all i know is verso's ending is fucking boring and maelle's gave us some sick memes
Verso is the villain
everyone comes back the same age as they were when they gommaged, now your gran is back and she's hot
or
everyone comes back at they age they should be and some of them immediately have a heart attack and die
lol kwab
how did that fat bastard even creampie inside sciel what the fuck
Lune seethe was funny though
wtf the guy who lied to us and got my people killed did it again
Lune is like those bitches who want to reduce sentences of murders
oh yeah lmao
Verso hasn't had sex in years
Doesn't immediately blow his load
Can last hours
How does he do it?
Don't forget that his cum was literally inside of her at the time of her seething as well if you romanced her.
r e m i n d e r

monoco footjobs
This is why there are so many Versofags. Verso is the twitchchat choice while MaelleGods are extremely intelligent individuals who can stop and ask themselves : "What is reality?" "What makes a life, a life?", "Is the happiness of the few worth the sacrifice of the many?", "What makes this different from Omelas?"
Esquie?
kek
No ending where you burn the entire family of degenerates
The final and canonical end shall be written soon.
How do you imagine she got him to tell her about the wine stash?
i did it...
Maellejunkies are making themselves look ridiculous, yet again.
she could taste it on his tongue
Don't you have a piano to play or a suicide attempt to get back to?
from the thumbnail I thought someone photoshopped the eyes so that one was looking the other way
Golgra is some sort of scorned lover to Monoco, yes?
"It is God's pleasure that you should suffer, and whether you like it or not, you must bear it"
Is that Sephiroth!?!?
Are they really making a sequel? I hope it is not directly related. I want nothing to do with this family again. Hopefully it is about writers
punished alicia is still cute god dammit
if you saw her on the street you'd be eyeing her up
This can't be real.
Gustave third ending DLC soon.
nothing is confirmed yet except for a movie that was underway before the game dropped
Verso
kills everyone
Maelle has to watch all the people she cares about get gommaged
Maelle
kills Alicia, ONE person Verso cares about
he freaks out at her
Play the piano cunt.
RPG Site: You have probably gotten this question before, but can you explain what the term 'Clair Obscur' means? I think a lot of people might not realize the connotation and find it simply foreign.
Francois Meurisse: I mean, day to day, we call the game 'Expedition 33', which is quite...
RPG Site: I think that's very evocative.
Francois Meurisse: Yeah, evocative. Clair Obscur is the name for the bigger IP, because we've already imagined a linked universe, maybe a later game. Clair Obscur itself is a reference to a painting technique in Italy, chiaroscuro, which is a way to paint with contrast between light and dark. Of course, this has a deeper meaning in the story of the game and maybe future games as well.
No direct sequel, if the ending did not make that painfully obvious enough.
Monoco humped her leg
She remembered him slipping in act 1.
It is God's pleasure that you should suffer
but enough about renoir
Now hold on a minute. Some putain before said that the reason why Sciel didn't get a mask is because She's not hiding anything and NOW THIS?! Where's that putain that wrote it? Explain yourself.
Cry more, bitchnigger.
Versofags
Smart, rational, able to process their emotions
Maellefags
Irrational, escapists, unable to process their emotions
Makes sense. They can create many different worlds/canvasses after all.
I imagine the writers can create worlds by writing books perhaps? Either way, I'm interested to see more.
Versofags think this choice is about Grief
As if we needed more proof they're extremely stupid individuals.
It's worse than that. Verso abandoning Alicia is what tipped her into wanting to kill herself.
She is literally perfection.
you'l understand when you're older, he's like 100 so he probably needs a viagra picto and extremely kinky roleplay
Verso kills Julie too. The guy is just a piece of shit.
send me to family
Verso standing right there
Man she really hated him at that point huh?
bruh
yeah i was thinking about that too, i guess it's more about being true to yourself not necessarily that you tell everyone everything about yourself
Lewd woman
I don't get why Painted Renoir started the expeditions.
i mean that's not reeeally hiding something, that's deeply personal.
I love that immediately after she says this, she glances at him like he doesn't count. kek
Painted Renoir was right all along.
He didn't know he was painted at the time, bro.
FUARK
If that's true then Verso knew and lied to Renoir too. He lies to everyone. Worse than satan Snake.
pleads with him to do one unselfish thing for her
ignores her and sets in motion the events that kills the only person who truly did care for her
Yeah, she was pretty much done with him at that point. Not to mention all the previous years of trouble he probably caused them.
So...how did painted Renoir get so strong that he btfo a whole expedition if he didn't get Simon treatment?
game takes place in a fictional 1905
holy fucking kino
did they do this purposefully?
are they saying he's a chad for continuously playing for his sister's happiness?
We all knew this was somehow Maelle even the first time She appeared right? I knew because they both that tiny delicious body.
Be Verso
Lie to everyone, fuck things up then run away
Cry about how terrible things are for you personally
that giant eyeball
man aline is fucked up
She was a bitch to painted Clea and Simon
Whatever you say pedophile, proving to everyone maellefags are retarded niggers
They have the exact same eyes and frame. Devs made no real attempt at hiding it. They may as well have given them the same voice actor.
my canvas now nigga
I thought they were twins.
Don't be mean, Alicia is beautiful no matter how hard Aline can try to fuck her up
I don't care about Maelle either. Also resorting to ad hominems proves you lack real arguments to defend your side.
The best part of Act 3 is forcing Verso to watch both of his sisters die. Fuck him
the package that mindbroke aline
Fuck him
Has this game been perfect proof the japanese are nuts and lost the plot?
watching soda
smartest Maelle pedo
of course it's sodapoppin holy fuck that guy is so fucking dumb it's unreal - i still remember him getting cooked by the FFXIV community because he didn't know how a fountain worked
Made a new thread just to call someone a retard.
speaking of FFXIV
There are attacks called Storm Blood and Shadow Bringer. The devs must be fans.
The entire world is Verso's dying dream and the conflict is over whether he can forgive himself or not before he dies.
Maelle is a proxy for Verso in the fourth version of his subconscious family (the expedition is fourth, then there's the painted family, the Axon family, and the "real" family - all are subconscious constructs).
Maelle's ending is Verso not being able to forgive himself before the lights go out. Verso's ending is him forgiving himself before the lights go out.
That's it. Again, the game is Verso's dying DMT trip.
You stepping in proves, I'm correct~~
It's true that the "she doesn't have skill" thing is bullshit. The outward narrative is showing her getting locked into the painting and Verso being pissed as he's trapped in a purgatory, a puppet for his god.
Baby's first Kafka Trap
I'm not reading all that shit bruv
That guy sounds actually like an IQ of 70 retardation haver.
Because Verso convinced Child Verso to stop painting. The entire painting is owned by Maelle now. The last slice of Verso's soul is gone.
Painted Verso is a soulless golem who's aware of his own lack of soul and his consciousness is a suffering. A gnosis where you are held prisoner regardless.
Maelle is painting everything, gone mad unaware of how she's intoxicated by and trapped in her own vision.
Tell me about the Writers.
Since the Painters' works are one of a kind, the worlds within are too.
If the Writers have similar powers to that of the Painters (i.e., being gods of worlds within their art), how does it differ from the Painters, since written works are meant to be reproduced and published?
I will ignore what the game explicitly tells me and drown in my made up fantasies
Maybe Versofags were the real Maellefags all along.
people think Maelle's ending is bad when Verso's ending kills off the good people so that the absolute fuckwit family gets to go on
I'm hoping in Maelle's ending every an heros after Maelle dies except for Clea for continues her quest for revenge but gets gangraped by Writer chads and because their sexslave who just paints hentai for them
Illiterate zoomer.
no i'm literate
i'm just not reading 3 walls of fucking text over something that really isn't the complicated
Can't wait for Clair Obscur 2 when it's revealed that "The Writers" are the "Gods" of the world of Renoir and Clea like the Paintress and Renoir were the gods of the Canvas. Versofags will flip.
It's not the "game" that tells us this, it's Renoir who is not a reliable narrator.
The only person who dies in Maelle's ending is Maelle. The family writes her off as a loss as she lives in the Canvas.
Also the Final boss will be Stendhal.
dammit
K I N O
another e33 shill thread
wait do yellow petals mean they're just getting ejected from the canvas?
it's Renoir
What are you talking about? She straight up said with her own mouth she cannot repaint. Renoir never said anything. In fact, she wanted him to fix Lumiere because she couldn't repaint it herself.
nobody says "paint me like one of your french girls"
ONE JOB
I just finished the game.
Any ending that has a fucking jump scare is the bad ending, sorry guys.
Any ending where Lune is alive is the good ending. Play the piano.
based
Maelleniggers will tell you they can stop whenever they want while overdosing on their own copium
Only to be revealed that there were HR Titans all along above writers gods.
Imagine just slicing a hole in the bottom of those shorts and then just fucking her raw while that dirty uniform is still tightly hugging her body.
Maellefags can not go one thread without embarrassing themselves. Just go back to spamming bikini pedo mods.
Any ending where one if beckoning the other to come join him in death is bad too.
painted alicia has a really cute smile
Retard.
Is Painted Alicia a virgin?
I keep seeing this OP image over and over again, use new material marketernegro
If Maelle is Chaos ending and Versotard is Law ending...what would Neutral ending look like?
resorting to more headcannon
Drug addict moment. Just one more sniff, that's all!
Is it ever explained why Lune has prosthetic legs?
She has WHAT?
that's a child
pretty sure they're just covered in picto markings
I did not care about Gustave.
It's okay when it's Yuffie, but when it's a french 16y old suddenly it's not?
gustave's theme starts playing
It's okay when it's Yuffie
where the fuck did I say that?
A various people and posteds said that over 20 years of Yuffie posting and porn
Autist who doesn't know how to wave at human beings talking about drugs
fuck off retard
So what happened with Gustave in the ending? is he a different Gustave?
is he a different Gustave?
No. Stop being retarded and listening to faggots who are even more retarded.
Retard. Play the game.
just answer the question without being an asshole
Yes because Alicia can't paint for shit.
Retard.
im not even that anon but you're just being a dick
how about you just suck my cock?
no thank you i am straight
Does anyone seriously think Gustave would actually be okay with Maelle actively killing herself by staying and playing God and running away from her problems? I sincerely doubt he would want Maelle to actively hurt herself like this
implying he knows anything beyond the fact that they defeated the paintress and that's it
Then that's even more fucked up, really
Mass Genocide is okay if it’s for a white girl
yes
Yes.
I loved them too
:_;
The name of the game is Expedition 33, not The Dessendres. Why should I care about what happens to that dysfunctional family when the Expeditions and how their journeys bring hope to future generations to finally break the cycle of death is what the game is truly about?
b a s e d
t a k e
Seems happy enough to me in the ending. Your speculations are irrelevant to that point.
jesus christ
Truthfully, it would be a much more honest title, they're all that matters at the end. The struggle of the Expeditions and the Lumerians completely takes a backseat.
Despite being only 26% of posters, Maellefags commit 70% of all shitposts
makes sense
maellefags want their shitposting to persist
versofags want out
Then what was the point of the game?
They should've just let the gommage take its course
Will we have to put Alicia down in Clea Obscur 2 when she breaks out as a graphic novel writer?
Shitposting aside, the fact that there's been discussions on the ending for weeks and there's more or less not a correct answer shows how fucking good this game is. Midway through my playthrough, I thought the game was great, but not something people will care about or remember in a month. Having finished it, the ending and OST have been on my mind rent free for over a week now.
Because the last time we had this topic, it somehow get mention every year for 20+ years
Reminder that Maelle died at the end of Act 2 and Alicia replaced her after.
Yes. Merely because most of you are mouthbreathers (Versofags), does not mean we are going to tell you that you are not mentally deficient. You are never getting your hugbox, faggot..
The irony of posting this shit in a thread where OP is a mind-fucked retard who thinks that Maelle can mind-control people. Hilarious
i wanna bite it
Any thoughts about The Writers?
Considering that this game is filled with morally grey characters, I'm assuming The Writers not completely bad either. I wouldn't be surprised if they're against the painters because they think it's immoral to create helpless sentient beings and play around with them like toys.
versofag on suicide watch
No, I don't prioritize his mother over everyone else because I am not a psycho
"Is the happiness of the few worth the sacrifice of the many?"
This game has revealed a lot about how some people view the morality of this kind of situation. The number of people who devalue an entire world of underdogs desperately fighting for their right to live in the face of unfair circumstances forced upon them for the sake of family drama is surprising. Some of these people would choose one person over thousands time and again without even genuinely considering the lives sacrificed if they ever had to make such a choice. Not that I'm saying one ending is better or anything, the canvas world likely gets a fairly bad outcome in either case.
Bros I want to use a suit and be cool like Renoir
Any thoughts about The Writers?
Clair Obscur: Writer Edition
Versofags understand the good times can't go on forever, everything good must end.
Maellefags can't cope with good times ending and thus will continue their escapism instead of face reality.
Verso doesn't actually want to die, he's just both having an existential melty like painted Alicia and painted Clea, and also fears having to answer to everyone he's ever betrayed or lied to. It is morally correct to make him play the piano.
general belongs on
This isn't a general, backseat janny.
he does it for free!
If the place that has escapism isn't draining your life or killing you, there is nothing wrong with escapism. But when your family is being harm in the proceed, then something need to be done about it.
Versofags spend a lofty amount fantasizing about Maellefags following through with the main mission and not going full fucking retard , deleting the universe. Lots of coping for retarded end game choices.
You made no sense, calm down bud.
It reads perfectly to someone with a 3 digit IQ. Sorry, bud. The Versofag curse.
You really should calm down. I went with the Maelle ending because she is cute. But I'm just writing objective truth. Sorry, you can't understand this.
I went with the Maelle ending because she is cute
Sure you did. The "objective truth" is that you annihilated all life in the canvas like a retard and gaslit yourself into the delusion of self enlightenment.
Maelle hates her life and wants to escape
Verso hates his life and wants to escape
independent of any other justifications or morality, one has to fuck over the other to get their way
pure kino
Anons would keep the souls of their brother tortured forever just to keep chatGPT going
then something need to be done about it.
Yes the family needs to address the concerns that their daughter's scarred for life and found out her mom resents her and wishes she died instead of her brother. Maelle actually has a point that she has an absolutely awful situation on the outside while living a 2nd life where she found a family that cares for her for about the same length of time that she lived in her real life. Renoir simply not destroying the canvas when she gets out would be a good first step to help mend her life outside, but again her shitty selfish mother is putting him in an impossible situation.
Kill countless innocents.
Oh but these three random shmucks will have a slightly easier time processing a family members death.
Writers have to use disingenuous techniques like scary music to make mass murder the good ending.
I guess this highlights the modern Western mindset of "fuck everyone else, got mine, no such thing as society". Now the west is falling because oh look at that, turns out Man is a social organism and once you inevitably run out of other people to throw under the bus there is no one left to keep you alive.
It's a social experiment to see how little effort it takes to get people to side with the typical mass genociding jrpg villain
youtu.be
This is canon of the game lore btw
Verso will never be Leslié and the rest of the 60s
That's what the writers WANTED the theme to be yes, but they wrote the painted people as fully sentient self-aware people with hopes and dreams and all that jazz. So there's no way to harmonize the games intended message with what actually happens in it.
Expedition 0 was a search & rescue operation.
The problem with this is that they can simply make another canvas. They just don't want to get rid of the canvas that had their brother's soul.
More like they would look something like this
average Maellefag
They may as well have given them the same voice actor.
It isn't Jennifer?
This canvas also has the choma of the people of Lumiere. In another canvas they would be the same thing painted Verso is in this canvas compared to OG Verso.
>Writers have to use disingenuous techniques like scary music to make mass murder the good ending.
It makes sense, though.
Verso's end is misery porn from start to finish, with some slight hope recovery for at least Renoir and Aline
Maelle's end, ignoring Verso, is everything the main characters were trying to accomplish and is brimming with happiness.
Let's be honest. Without the jump scare, no one with two brain cells would be arguing Verso's end as "the good end." Tards needed to be reminded of the price to pay staying in the canvas so that they know it isn't perfect. Unfortunately, the average IQ of the player base is extraordinarily low. So instead of seeing the jump scare as a way of leveling the playing field in a "this ending is neither good nor bad" type of way - it pivoted heavily in the other direction. Despite being equally "bad" as the other ,the last 3 seconds made them shit their diapers so it's definitely the "bad" one.
Wait, it's her?
BUT VERSO IS CRYING
The devs should have realised that if you take two grey endings and then give one positive framing and one negative framing, it's absolutely going to appear black and white
They are French and are not thinking like retarded Americans who need everything spelled out in black and white. The game is called CLAIR OBSCUR for god's sake. They simply expected too much of their audience's intelligence.
Yeah, it makes way more complicated. but as some other anons said we can have dreams with people who act very much real. With that aside, assuming that everyone is real and not just illusions, I would still pick Verso's ending, Lumiere is doomed since it will end up getting destroyed when Alice dies or will turn into a battlefield again when her family comes to try to rescue her just like they did with her mother.
With the majority of the world dead already and with a bleak future. I would say that Verso deserves rest from being the god of this world.
The real villain in the story is the ability to paint worlds and create realities willy nilly. Maybe the writers have a point.
This is my biggest problem with Versofags. Everything Verso says at the end is correct regardless to him being a lying faggot the entire game but the one thing they can't do is take responsibility and accept they are killing real people in the canvas. They just say shit like "They don't have a soul" Which is meaningless because it is such a subjective thing.
From every standpoint the people in the canvas have shown they are not beholden to the painters and do things of their own free will even up to suicide.
some other anons said we can have dreams with people who act very much real
assuming that everyone is real and not just illusions
Of course the painted people are real, the entire first parts of the game don't even matter if they're not. Furthermore, if they aren't real then there is literally no emotional weight to the final choice, and all those painted characters we know and like may as well be killed without a thought. The idea of them not being real is simply not sustainable for maintaining the narrative.
Also the "destroying the canvas" angle only moves it further away from being an analogy for grief. In real life you can't just erase a method of escapism or addictions, drugs or gambling or alcohol will always exist, the possibility of relapse is always present. The idea that you could just erase the object of escapism and then suddenly you can move in just isn't really applicable to the real world, it says nothing about moving on from grief, it kind of distracts from the idea really.
It's why I'm not really a fan of the ending choice. It feels less about the message as some people claim, and just feels like forced drama, like they were baiting online arguments.
I still wonder how hard she seethed when she found out Simon was going poundtown on her painted self.
I just assumed it was filtered to hell and back, also I can't find anything about a different VA.
Real Renoir is so based.
What I deslike the most about the ending is that it makes her seem like an horrible cunt. Verso dies because of her choices and even in the painted world she's only concerned about herself. Where is that little girl who admired Gustave?
even in the painted world she's only concerned about herself. Where is that little girl who admired Gustave?
That's the point, she changed as soon as she recovered her memories.
She lost the narrative the second she regained her memories and essentially put real Maele on the backburner. She doesn't realize that real life loses its flavor when you have the cheat codes and abused them like crazy.
where is that little girl who admired Gustave
Dead.
:D
How long until ChatGPT scraps info about E33 and I can ask it philosophical questions regarding the game?
it makes her seem like an horrible cunt
Because she is. Alicia is a Dessendre through and through, her first victim was Maelle.
When they kill your sister so you gotta kill the entire world relatable
lies to literally everyone
abandons his painted sister to suffer alone
murders countless expeditioners
And I'm supposed to think him playing piano for 20 years is "hell"? Fucking piece of shit deserved worse
Second victim*
First one was Verso
Is than an Anon original? Nice strokes
How many times did Verso kill other humans?
yes it is I can whip up a maelle if people want one as well just letting u know tho troon hands made this peak
The people in line in her ending aren't alive. They're background characters for her make believe world. They do not move, you cannot see their faces.
It's not that, it's that the reality is only the product of Maelle and effectively he is her metaphysical slave until the candle burns out.
He has no being or meaning nor even a proper death, just fade out in the slave role Maelle's grief paints for him.
Where she defeated him and his will and subordinated it to her.
He's not even of her originally he was of Aline.
Sodapoopin's build
his understanding of the story
HOLY SHIT LOL
Niggers who spend 12 hours a day on Anon Babble be like "escapism is bad"
Anons out of nowhere
Do Maellefags really?
Boo fucking hoo for the lying mass murderer
I wish someone cared about me enough to destroy my PC
Isn't Lune and Verso hooking up in Maelle's ending the ultimate proof that they're NPCs? They both play instruments and spend time together at camp; from Maelle's perspective they're perfect couple material.
In reality they have zero chemistry and are only using eachother during their rendevouzes for information and manipulation. But Maelle has no way of knowing that.
I notice how you said 12 hours a day and not 18
All the bitch had to do to make Verso at least somewhat happy in her ending was avoid painting him again and she still couldn't stop herself
Lune and Verso hooking up in Maelle's ending
???
Peak "he didn’t get it so I don't have to" moment. Watching him fumble through the symbolism while mashing heavy attack was actual performance art. Man's understanding of nuance is a Dorito.
thats a 32 year old child
The game is unironically too intelligent for some people. I can't believe people swear that Renoir is a good guy, when he is the one committing omnicide, and saving her wife is not a good enough excuse.
There is a reason the first act is called Gustave. The people in the canvas have completely real lives, and it doesn't matter if they were created out of grief. They are real, and even the 95% of players cared when Gustave died.
Renoir is ultimately the most morally wrong person and irresponsible character on the story.
We should hardly be surprised at the depths of depravity they're willing to plunge to uphold their delusions; why, some of them even think they can live as women IRL
In Verso's ending, Alicia and Aline are completely cool with Renoir. After the dust brushes out of their eyes they're like, "yeah we were foolish, fuck those fake people".
Let's be honest. Without the jump scare, no one with two brain cells would be arguing Verso's end as "the good end."
This is absolutely retarded on your end.
I knew exactly what Verso and Maelle were going to do before I chose between the two of them (I actually thought Maelle would be less demented than she is), I chose Verso then because it was the right choice, and Verso's ending proved to me it was the right choice without even touching Maelle's ending.
Ignoring everything else about the Maelle ending, from the faceless audience, Scielle being happy with Pierre after a previous converstion saying she wouldnt want a Pierre clone, Monoco and Esquie being reduced to ushers for a line of faceless fake people, the black and white tone, the dreary lack of music, Verso clearly suffering, the creepy smiles from everyone etc
The "jump scare" painter eyes is just the fucking giant neon sign screaming "hey retards if you didn't get it this is the bad ending"
They DO have a soul but they're getting several decades of doomed existence. If you want to argue that it's worth it to let them live for as long as Maelle does, then I won't argue against you, but it is what it is - the canvas WILL be destroyed eventually.
In fact, she wanted him to fix Lumiere because she couldn't repaint it herself.
But she did repaint it. Uh oh! Did you just accidentally prove that Maelle is a liar? Guess what fag, once Act 3 starts its Maelle who is the liar, not Verso. And it is Maelle's lies to Renoir at the end that have Verso commit to ending it all.
But she can't repaint anything!
Then explain her ending, where she has clearly repainted everything to be her perfect version of Lumiere.
Renoir had no interest in bringing them back in any realistic fashion - he just wanted their forms to stop the party. He paints death, remember.
Versofags just need an excuse to side with the villain and sanction mass murder.
It's better to lose a rock than not have a rock
AND EVEN THEN she was taught by fucking Verso
He just encouraged her
because HE HAS the memories of the real Verso
No he doesn't, verso in this canvas is Aline's rendition of him. She couldn't impart Verso's memories because she didn't have them because she's not verso. The only part of real Verso left with any of his memories is the fading boy.
I don't care about Verso and his dogshit family. Play the piano cunt.
Which one had positive framing?
in Verso's the parents seem to be doing okay, Alicia is shattered and still envisioning her friends disappearing
in Maelle's she explicitly ignores Verso's request for her to let him go and forces him into a life he doesn't want to perform on command, and you see her succumbing to the same madness as Aline, which if it progresses far enough is sure to result in her family pulling her out and nuking the canvas
Who says they can be reproduced? Also paintings can be reproduced in the same way books can be. You can either have another transcribe it/paint a copy, or you can use a form of press.
But if chroma use is the limiting factor, then writers books probably can't be easily copied, just like paintings can't be easily copied. Remember the canvas just looked like a swirling mass of shit from the outside, and it is reasonable to extrapolate that the same effect happens with the written words the Writers put down.
something not talked about enough is the low amount of cutscenes/dialogue, the game really respected my time
we don't need tens of hours cutscenes/dialogue to tell a good story or having characters never shutting the fuck up while exploring
explicitly ignores Verso's request for her to let him go
Boo fucking hoo for the mass murder. He's crying man. It's not fair.
Alicia is shattered and still envisioning her friends disappearing
She's accepting them saying goodbye
says herself she cares about him
denies him his only wish because she's on a power trip for her shitty cope
She's accepting them saying goodbye
Why is Gustave beckoning to her instead of waving?
Why did they choose to end it on a shot where she is alone and her family has left?
beckoning to her instead of waving?
I'm not going to argue with your retarded schizo ass.
Versofags just need an excuse to side with the villain and sanction mass murder
This game has proven that a lot of people can happily turn a blind eye to mass murder if it suits them, so long as they can support their character of choice. Many can't even accept that there is a moral cost to his choice, just dismiss everyone in the story as npcs, so they don't have to contemplate the morality. Not saying Verso is explicitly a villain, but I bet a lot of jrpg 'world-ender' villains would be supported if they were presented as the main character, even if they were indirectly responsible for the death of the prior hero just so they can replace them.
Verso says he cares about his family
abandons his sister
kills his father
Get this through your head Versofag, hr doesn't deserve to get what he wants
If your Canvasniggers are so real, why don't they come out of the Canvas and prove it
I understand that they have real lives and feelings but once Alicia tries to live life with console commands enabled they innately become more disposable. They were unironically more alive when they had an expiration date.
He wanted to spare painted Renoir. Maelle is the one who (justifiably) wanted to kill him.
saves his mother
saves his sister over and over and over
I don't give a shit about Verso being le sad, I care about what it means that Alicia, who does things like that to people, is the god of the canvas world now.
You might as well be explaining to Chris-chan that he needs to let Sonichu go. Just leave them be inside their canvas.
lets Gustave die on purpose so he could manipulate Maelle and her desire for revenge
Yeah bro, totally the actions of someone who wanted to spare Renoir.
He's a lying fuck. Nothing he says can believed. Even the real Verso had to be a liar since real Renoir made an Axon of him based on this.
The amount of story told through silence is also a unique part of the game. Just reading the facial expressions of the characters adds so much to it.
The time they do spent in the cutscene are pretty good and never, ever cringey. It always grab your interest one way or another.
had verso/gustave in their sunglasses the entire time as soon as I got them
they were still expressive as fuck, just with the direction they looked and the framing of the shots
This game had really impressive art direction. The actual fighting started to feel like a bit of a slog because by the time I reached the axons I'd gotten enough shit to trivialize the combat, but I still never felt like putting the game down.
yeah while the lip syncing was garbage, the facial expressions and the eye animaions were the best i've ever seen.
Watching a streamer
why do you people do this?
Because Verso convinced Child Verso to stop painting. The entire painting is owned by Maelle now. The last slice of Verso's soul is gone.
Wrong you buffoon, if Verso stops the soul from holding the painting together it will cease existing, it's why she draws her sword against him in the first place.
Once she kills painted Verso she goes back using a child's soul fragment as Atlas for her coping mechanism
I want the Lumerians to live. That's why I played the game. The struggle of the expeditoners and their sacrifices for thise who come after mattered and don't deserve to be dismissed for some french cunt and her shit family
That circles back around to the writes fucking up, because they clearly wanted a Real Verso vs Real Clea debate and then made Real Verso bring it up twice, and Clea unrepentantly responsible for two of the superbosses.
For me, verso in act 3 is mostly HOLY HELL JUST LET ME DIE I DONT WANT TO SEE MY FAMILY SUFFER expression while Renoir and Alicia have any conversation.
Yeah the real issue is that they never fully address the moral implications of the Lumierians, and even go out of their way to avoid discussing it without actually denying their sapience or continuity of consciousness when resurrected.
I want the Lumerians to live.
Then pick Maelle's ending and give them another couple decades. It's just a matter of time, anon.
So I guess Verso vs Maelle has become part of the Anon Babble rivalries?
lets Gustave die on purpose so he could manipulate Maelle and her desire for revenge
It's genuinely kind of insane that so many people are cool with this. Gustave, a more traditional hero who sets out on an adventure to fix a terrible situation with the best of intentions, is set up to die on purpose by Verso, who based on his overall behavior and intentions is an anti-hero at best and a villain at worst. And so many just gloss over that, when Verso's role as the would be hero starts off with such a grievous act.
The idea of them not being real is simply not sustainable for maintaining the narrative.
No, it's just really hard for you (and me) to emotionally process because we'd gotten so attached to them. They were doomed from the start because the real world of the game is a fucked up setting where children can paint worlds with sentient creatures into existence that exist at their whim. Gas the painters art war now
She's gone. Alicia is using Maelle as an OC while acting as her real self after gaining her memories back.
Renoir understood her best, it's why the Reacher represents her never reaching the stars but trying anyway, while he hopes she'll stop he can't help but support her stupid endeavor.
Also why he gives up at the ending and Verso has to push her out of the painting for good.
Its just one guy, like whenever the drug analogy gets used its the fucking guy.
Like I picked Verso for two reasons.
First I view the Painted People as lesser in terms of the cost, not that they aren't real, but by the nature of their existence they are less real then Alicia and therefore take priority over her growth.
Second I see the themes the writers were going for and even if I think its poorly executed I am still willing to respect the intention in making my choice.
There's nothing in the game that suggests the painting will just disappear when Alicia dies. It will just carry on in whatever state she leaves it in without a painter/paintress, which is for the best really.
b-b-but child verso is tired of painting
Tough. I assume every painted world has a piece of the painter's soul in it. Just part of the process of their abilities.
I agree, and you can think back to the words of Gustave.
"That's the insidius thing about the Gommage. It's predictable, almost gentle. It's makes Lumiere complacent and accepting... but the Gommage is equally violent and death... Death is just as final."
Verso ending seems pleasant, like we are just supposed to move on and accept the futility of life, and it was painted in a good light, so fags just automatically think that is the "good ending". But is actually just genocide, surrender and irresponsibility from the Dessendre family.
If the game's writing has a flaw, it's that the entire party are too easy on Verso for doing bad things because he's sad about it - worst example is probably when you find Julie's journal and the girlies just feel bad for Verso somehow. The Gustave example is more understandable because at that point he's talking to Alicia, and Maelle is already dead.
I mean, yeah, I agree that their situation is intrinsically fucked up and perhaps unfixable. Always doomed in some sense to begin with. The painters have it coming to them.
The ironic thing is the Verso ending was the one clearly meant to resonate with people, either with people who have in the past given up something significant for someone, or have someone they love that they'd be willing to give up anything to save if need be.
But many retards on Anon Babble are so autistic they neither have that experience nor would be willing to give up anything to help someone, so they draw on false moral platitudes to justify why they identify with the selfish choice of the eternal delusion
Second I see the themes the writers were going for
What about the themes of Act 1/2? A civilization struggling to survive against all odds? 49 years of expeditions to kill the paintress
The future of Lumiere is more important than any individual life
Writing in a journal, hoping that your apprentices will one day read it
For those who come after (specifically in regards to your apprentices or the 32s)
The game title being Expedition 33, not Dessendre Family
genocide
Of who, gestrals? The party are the only humans left in the canvas, Maelle hasn't brought the rest of them back yet. By the time you're choosing endings, the genocide has already happened by Renoir's hands.
The painting will disappear because there's 0 chance Renoir either won't cause Fracture 2.0 to try to save Alicia or go nuclear with the Canvas once she dies there.
worst example is probably when you find Julie's journal and the girlies just feel bad for Verso somehow
Yeah. Just read a journal about Verso murdering people for questioning him and they feel bad for him. You can tell a woman wrote this.
Its just one guy, like whenever the drug analogy gets used its the fucking guy
Are you genuinely a schizo?
The game itself uses drug metaphors. Every fucking person I've watched that's analyzed the endings has brought up the addiction element.
You're retarded if you cant see why so many people call maelle fags drug addicts, drugs are the single most popular method of dealing with grief on this planet and the entire fucking game is about unhealthy methods of grieving.
The future of Lumiere is more important than any individual life
Aline coping because keeping the memory of her son alive/family intact is more important than her actual remaining family in the real world.
Its very easy to fall to Escapism if nothing is really at stake, like FFTA (the soul demon draining bullshit is just fake shit from a schizo). It becomes way more understanding when actual lives are at stake.
What does Aline have to do with that?
That's a Gustave saying that gets picked up by Lune.
Just defeated Clea in my very first try, is she the strongest side boss? cause fuck I feel super OP.
God, reading through the posts ITT make me think how most of you must be on a sex offender list... this game is pretentious and faggy as shit. I think I saw the word "canvas" in one of these discussion threads. The prologue did not make me cry. Fuck this game.
lolno. That would be simon
Cry more tranny
You will never be a painter
The only fake people in the game are the painted family Aline made to cope. Immortal tools for her. Lumerians live like normal people. Verso is the fake puppet so he just wants to die.
Nothing directly, I just think that the struggles of the fake people in the canvas thematically tie into other elements of the story.
the genocide has already happened by Renoir's hands.
Exactly, and that's why I'm blaming the entire family. Renoir is not a good guy as the majority thinks, and Verso also enables his actions. They play with life and death with complete irresponsibility.
Irresponsible is not a word. It's just responsible.
All of them act with great irresponsibility toward the complexity of the fake lives in the canvas. Alicia just thinks she's different because she wants to play with it instead of erasing it. The ability to paint should not exist and the writers should have succeeded in burning the whole fag house down.
he didn't beat simon before the stendhal changes
you're in for a fun one
What about the themes of Act 1/2? A civilization struggling to survive against all odds? 49 years of expeditions to kill the paintress
An hour at the start of the game, part of the focus in Act 1, and the journals, a quarter of which are joke deaths and another half of which are "we tried to hyper optimize in X way, then we got fucked".
I was in it for the journeying into a unknown world to uncover mysteries, not a bunch of randoms that don't matter after an hour.
Renoir is that father that goes into your and shutdown your game because you're not listening to him.
What? It's literally the goal all the way up to the end of Act 2.
good, cause I forgot how to parry.
stendhal changes
hmmm was that dealing more damage than gommage? cause with the right pictos you can use that in just a few turns
Simon is still easy, I just had to two-shot him instead of one-shotting him. He could probably still be one-shotted, I'm sure I didn't master the optimization.
You can use it on Maelle's first turn if you have her go after the other two party members.
Really should have had the damage cap be 99,999 until beating Renoir and then 999,999 until beating SImon
Painted workshop to fight lampmaster for shit rewards was pretty fucking underwhelming
Projecting your mental retardation onto me a reeeing "I'M RIGHT" makes you look even more desperate. There is no good or bad end. You are simply a midwit with black and white morality. Your entire tirade is dipping with dishonest rhetoric ("muh reduced to ushers", "muh faceless people", muh Pierre clone, muh creepy smiles") to corroborate your bullshit take. All this nonsense that exists solely in the schizophrenic minefield you call your head.
It is okay if you prefer one ending to the other. but do not reply to me with this vapid bullshit that which says so much also but utterly nothing.
the boss recycling sure feels weird, why even have a lampmaster there
Proof that she "repainted it" and didn't just rebuild it with the inhabitants? Your move, fucko.
so what does this sitting statue represent?
sky-high potential
sits sadly in a dark little cave
looks small and weak but possesses great power, doesn't use it
It's the Axon of Alicia.
Every Axon made by Renoir shows what he thinks are the greatest obstacles of the people they represent. Alicia's Axon is so close to touching the sky, and yet it's a tiny doll that stays cooped up inside.
Yes but the people behind that goal didn't factor in outside of a hypothetical.
While playing I wasn't thinking "here we go time to fight for home and country".
For me it was the environments, discovering more about this world, and engaging with the characters of which Gustave dies and again, Lune and Sceil are non-factors behind the wave of family drama that makes up Act 2.
Because even though the paintress is the objective, Act 2 spends its time burying Gustave in particular, meeting Monnoco, Old Luminaire which is about the family drama, fighting the Axions where in L&S get a underwritten win against the Axions (who are also a tangential part of the family drama), and dealing with the Monolith which it turns out is even more family drama.
Painted Renior's theme is literal Aline and Real Renior yelling at each other.
For me they were a pretext that faded into the background as what the writers focused on took center stage.
wtf is this thread
what's the lore on the other 2?
verso is a faggy liar
clea creates beautiful things that destroy people
He really raised three shitty kids.
For me they were a pretext that faded into the background as what the writers focused on took center stage.
Yeah I think that's a large part of the problem.
For people like you, it just fades into the background and you stop caring about it since it wasn't the focus recently.
For other people (Maellechads) they never forgot about this part of the story, and the lives and feelings displayed to exist in the canvas. They are constantly contrasting that with the drama of 4 people (one of which is also painted and a massive liar/traitor), and maybe Verso's soul (which is also conflicted on erasing the canvas).
so they draw on false moral platitudes to justify why they identify with the selfish choice of the eternal delusion
The irony of this post is off the charts.
that's strangely vague af
artfag is prentious
No shit
Did you not play the game? This is all explained (besides the Clea Axon which doesn't have as much explanation, that's the Hauler in old Lumiere, she's constantly trying to solve her family's IRL problems on her own).
Ive beat the flying manor, endless tower and defeated Simon. Is there anything left to do?
Also why does the endless tower have those paths that lead go red portals that you cant enter? Kinda misleading that its just boss fights, i thought it was a huge dungeon being called endless tower and all...
For other people (Maellechads) they never forgot about this part of the story
And they get gut-punched all the harder when they see Alicia succumbing to the canvas at the operahouse. I know because I felt just like you, and the Alicia ending left me feeling hollow.
Verso was the Mask one and it embodied his willing to pretend for the sake of others holding him back, and Sieren was Aline who while brilliant in what she does can get lsot in her work.
The Dead one is Clea and was about how she shoulders all responsibility onto herself and so is crushed under its weight.
they should've still showed up in the maelle end tho so idk
But they did though?
Nothing difficult. Collect the journals/records if you haven't, go to the fountain for free luminas if you haven't killed any white nevrons.
Endless tower
Devs probably ran out of time, I was disappointed too.
Renior made them to be literal parables.
Yeah, but is not really a game, isn't it? Verso is proof of this when he goes against his own creator, even helping her against her own wishes.
Thinking that the canvas is not sentient diminishes the game story too much in my opinion. I cared about Gustave.
I mean it was necessary to give a stark reminder that staying in the canvas is infact killing Alicia and torturing painted Verso, even though the Lumerians survive. Otherwise we would have everyone saying the Maelle ending is a purely good ending.
They're both bad endings in some way. It's a choice between two different lives.
The game becomes even more kino when you realize all the nonsense and weirdness in the world was made by a child who just wanted to go on adventures with his two dogs and plush toy.
Versonybros have to perform olympic tier mental gymnastics to argue with this lol
no it isn't you dumb cunt painting over is replacing an already live being like the broken clea
You didn't play the game. Clea wasn't replaced. She was in a literal sense painted over with a layer of chroma. Forced to perform actions against her will. The moment they chipped away at the paint-over layer and she regained a moment of control, she instantly killed herself.
Thinking that the canvas is not sentient diminishes the game story too much in my opinion. I cared about Gustave.
They ARE sentient and you were supposed to care about Gustave. The game paints (heh) every single painter in a bad light, the power is seductive and evil.
Thinking that the canvas is not sentient diminishes the game story too much in my opinion.
Correct. That's why only brainlest think canvas people are "not real"
There is a common issue I have seen in this thread where each faction has a reasonable side and a bad faith side.
For the Alicia side the Bad Faith posters are the ones who hyperfocus on waifus and sadistic spite, white the reasonable ones are the ones who argue on the merits of the canvas as a world.
And the Verso side the Bad Faith is basically everyone saying the Painted People are not real and those trying to play up Alicia's derangement, while the good ones argue on the merits on the themes and viewing Alicia's wellbeing as more important when weighted against the real but still painted people.
If we all just collectively ignored the Bad Faith posters they would fade away and we could have honest discussions.
Yes, yes (you) are.
Opinions on battlum?
If we all just collectively ignored the Bad Faith posters they would fade away
where do you think you are?
but yes, bad faith posters ruin discussion
doe endless tower ever get more difficult? Already had like 15 fights here and they all feel very underwhelming
butthurt so strong it crossed thread boundaries
Magnifique Mon Ami!!!!
Omellete du GOmage!!!
Seems good for a gradient build.
Defensive
Dump AP on gradient buildup
Intervention
Swap to Virtuoso
Gommage
Floor 10 onwards picks up and if I recall each floor is three fights so just keep going.
Endless tower is like the third most challenging thing in the game, but if you've done fifteen fights you've only completed 5 of 11 tiers, so it's hard to say where you're at.
My endgame spec is keeping verso at 1 health and spamming the one move that scales with health. All his pictos are based around damage (at death's door, inverted, etc) Do that x2, thanks to that one picto, then sciel bounces it back to verso for 2x more. Maybe 4mil or so damage. It works alright, but simon is pushing my shit in. Whats that stendahl spec for maelle and is it better?
Original anon you were replying to. Anyone who calls Renoir a "good" guy is fundamentally braindead. However, I do not consider him inherently immoral. I understand all of his actions. Given his circumstances, I cannot say I would have acted much differently. He is a selfish controlling piece of shit who rules with an iron fist, but all parities in this game are selfish and fighting for their self interest. Which also includes Maelle. I just side with Maelle because I played the game from her perspective and witnessed the cruelty of the Gommage, Expeditions, and Nevrons, so fuck Renoir. I feel the same way he does after listening to him
He speaks truth, and yet it changes nothing.
We're all hypocrites doing the same thing to each other, forcing our cruel choices. I don't take any moral high ground, I just take a side.
It's too bad they had to add Verso to the Maelle ending just to make the other choice the obvious "good" ending even though she could obviously let him rest and recreate everything without him.
yeah but that's the thing, she can't let him rest
Everything you described to boost verso's damage. I used glaisum because it has the highest power. Use that ability that lowers her hp to one and puts her in virtuoso. Enjoy doing more damage in one turn than in two of Verso's.
He is a selfish controlling piece of shit who rules with an iron fist,
Based retard with daddy issues.
Verso was just to hammer home that the canvas is also her playpen.
Alicia only cares about the canvas because Verso is there.
She's not Maelle, she doesn't care nearly as much about lumiere as you think, it's all verso verso muh body verso.
Retard, his soul fragment and Clea's soul fragment both go on about how he feels the need to control. It's a core pillar of his character, even if it is coming from the right place. Why do you retards feel the need to reply with these pointless posts?
piece of shit who rules with an iron fist, but all parities in this game are selfish and fighting for their self interest.
When your wife is on drugs and your daughter is also on drug and you try to drag both of them out of the drug, of course you need to set boundaries and enforce the rule.
Drugs
Stopped reading.
I think the problem is not the Canvas, but the Painters themselves. Wouldn't the best scenario be to keep the Canvas but without any involvement of the Painters? Something like Chroma Generator is possible to keep the world stable.
Same reason you need to be extremely condescending about your completely retarded takes?
oh no the guy with his family overdosing needs to tell them to stop acting retarded
If he had any control over his family in the first place he would have kept them together after the tragedy. He didn't, and seethes.
N-no u
So you agree he is controlling? Good. Now shut the fuck up and eat a dick.
As long as that particular canvas has the dead son's soul, the problem will always persist. The mother will go back and grief. Verso will suffer for merely existing. God forbid what the burned face daughter would do.
If daddy loved me he'd let me do drugs under his roof.... what a control freak!
Yes but we don't live in that world and any potential for that world to exist died the moment Alicia lied.
From that moment on its triage.
However, I do not consider him inherently immoral. I understand all of his actions. Given his circumstances, I cannot say I would have acted much differently.
Completely agree, and is the same with Verso.
Would I sacrifice an entire universe for my own mother? I most likely would.
No, he's being reasonable.
The issue is that his wife and daughter are retarded.
Keep crying.
The twist of the world being a painting is pretty fucking glaringly obvious. Lmao IGN is shit no matter the country
He stopped being reasonable when he wouldn't compromise on the canvas' destruction. Which ensured Maelle would never leave.
That was Clea and if you didn't walk away from the cut scene between acts two and three knowing what kind of person she is, that's on you. She inherently dislikes her father for putting family before painting.
He stopped being reasonable when he wouldn't compromise on the canvas' destruction.
He did, which is why he willingly leaves after the bossfight.
I'll leave a light on.
Alicia lied, of course, which Verso calls her on. She's never leaving the canvas.
But he came around in the end and she still wouldn't.
I try this from the perspective of inhabitants of Canvas. This shit is like old myths where the family of gods (Olympians, Aesirs, etc.) fight each other to take control of the world of mortals. In the end, mortals can live without having to depend on the deities.

He literally leaves her, knowing she's killing herself in the process.
She can't trust her dad because she knows he knows she's lying through her teeth.
I try this from the perspective of inhabitants of Canvas
Dead can't speak. Scial understand. The dog and doll understand. Lune is afraid/angry as hell.
In the end, mortals can live without having to depend on the deities.
Except that not what the games gives you.
He wasnt brought back with his gommage flowers. He was murdered. It'll be a similar scenario to Noco and the other Gestrals. Gustave, but not Gustave. Same, same but different.
The game tells us this in a few conversations actually
Renoir got his ass beat and was forced to concede. Of course he would never nuke the canvas why she was in it. But as soon as she steps out, Maelle has no reason to believe it won't be open season so long as Aline remains dependent on it.
Mortals can't live in this world without their actual good keeping the world afloat, and he wants out.
She's not Maelle, she doesn't care nearly as much about lumiere as you think, it's all verso verso muh body verso.
Yeah hence why I don't care about either ending. I think the story is decent but I stopped caring about the story mid act 2.
Renoir got his ass beat and was forced to concede.
You realize he can just rest for a couple days and destroy the whole fucking thing again right, and Alicia can't stand up to a full powered Renoir.
And we know he doesn't.
Gustave would understand clearly that this isn't healthy and is willing to tell Maelle to get out of the canvas.
but I stopped caring about the story mid act 2.
No reason to beyond shitposting because mid act two you are fighting your way to kill Renoir and the paintress.
It's the exact same story you've been following since act one and ends how you expect it to.
I guess Verso shouldn't have let him be murdered then.
The problem is that this is not brought out. Lune was right. Had Verso told them everything right from the start, they could have come up with a plan and perhaps compromised with Alicia, Renoir, and Aline.
Now they are either doomed to be erased or kept alive by another delusional painter.
I am not even sure what point you are trying to make here. Not getting into the headcanon about "muh full powered Renoir" - the fact is, he was soundly outclassed and knew he could not sway Alicia moving forward. But that says nothing about would he would do if Alicia stepped outside the canvas. He never said he would not destroy it, and he has given Maelle no reason to believe that as Aline will always find it.
Which is the point, right now I'm responding under the assumption your asking "why didn't the game have X options in its story?" to which the answer is "The writers wrote a story with characters that act in certain ways leading us to the outcomes presented'. Anything else is fanfiction.
'ate writers
No reason to
lol are you seriously telling what I am alllowed to feel? The story shifted from expeditioner's tale to Verso Verso Verso Verso Verso Verso. I always hate that jrpg character that knows everythi mng but doesn't say anything. Of course I'm not going to enjoy that character being the new MC and watching dumb bitches not ask questions and/or accept obvious lies as answers. I don't think the story is bad, but I stopped being invested in it.
He really raised three shitty kids.
Clea literally did nothing wrong. Her Axon "The Hauler" is a giant carrying a city on its back. Renoir loves obvious metaphors, and the axon reveals that he believes her biggest flaw is that she cares too much and is taking on too many burdens. You think she's a bitch, but that's just the stress from having to wage war against writers on her own while her family is being retarded.
If she hadn't been a cunt to Alicia she probably wouldn't be coping in the painting.
makes monsters to brutally murder people
What a sweetheart
Which sucks, considering there are other possibilities that Lune pointed out. Both endings are bad endings for the Canvas, regardless of what you choose.
She's waging war on behalf of painters, whose abilities we've seen bring about nothing but suffering. She's cruel to Alicia and delighted in designing monsters to slaughter the people in the canvas. She's unconcerned with the suffering of her family because she puts painting before blood.
I cannot stress how perfect she is
If characters only ever did the smart/correct thing stories wouldn't be interesting. The characters are flawed and the end result is suboptimal. It hurts and was meant to.
flawed
Fucking retarded you mean.
If she hadn't been a cunt to Alicia she probably wouldn't be coping in the painting.
Alicia was collabing with the Writers
the Writer abuse this and got the Brother kill
Even Alicia acknowledge that this was her fault, before he enter the painting and when she got her memory back.
At no point was Clea being a cunt. She's curt, but she's not malicious. She cares about Alicia and pushes her to be better. She's a good older sister.
NTA, thats how Clea describes him too, negroid
kill all clea simps
This but for Lunesimps
And they murdered the smart ones like Gustave.
I'm le epic most amazing painter!
UGH parents right? Mom and dad need to get over this struggle!
Only painting matters, they need to get OUT of that canvas and back to the real world so we can stop the writers from genociding us for being pricks
Will I simply join forces with my father and overpower my mother?
NO! I will design horrific monsters to slaughter people allowing my father to win over the course of roughly a century, because I am LE ABOVE THIS PETTY CONFLICT!
She's a cunt.
It was probably seeing the fake version of herself and her brother that made her stop giving a shit about this canvas in particular. Her mom was sick and Clea needed her to get better asap, not for her own good, but because if she didn't then writers might come and firebomb the mansion again while everyone is dicking around in the canvas. Clea is like Renoir but more rational, because she has to be. She chose herself and her family's lives over the people of the canvas, whereas Renoir is just dictating how his wife is supposed to grieve and has the war against the writers as a distant second on his priority list.
I like how no one pointed out that Aline imprison the father and change Alicia's life into reliving her childhood via painting over her.
because she puts painting before blood.
If that were truly the case she'd cut her losses and leave her family to wolves. Maybe start her own family and take Aline's spot as head of the painters. Clea stuck around because she cares.
Gustave would understand clearly that destroying the canvas and genociding all of its people for the sake of one family is abhorrent
Her mom was sick and Clea needed her to get better asap
Surely the best way to do this is to tip the scales (her wording) slightly in favor of my father so that he can be kind of close to winning after 67 years
Clea is like Renoir but more rational
And this is shown by her designing monstrosities to massacre people, unlike the irrational renoir who painlessly gommages them all at once.
I take it you're unfamiliar with the concept of a Tsundere.
If that were truly the case she'd cut her losses and leave her family to wolves.
She just wants Aline out because she's a great painter. She doesn't give a shit about Alicia.
We really have no idea how Gustave would react, he'd probably be the most shocked due to the combination of his rational engineer mind, his devotion to the cause, and his dedication to Maelle's wellbeing. It'd take him time to sort it out.
At that point he is willing to forsake the expedition just to save Maelle. Instead of running away, he is willing to fight and die against Renoir in the hope that Maelle doesn't die. Gustave clearly see Maelle as his adopted daughter and would do everything he can to make sure she is safe.
She's yandere and the subject of her fixation is painting.
And she'll be safe in the canvas for decades if not centuries no matter what happens on the other side, so it shouldn't concern him.
Yes, this is clearly a face of a healthy person and totally not going to get her killed. Gustave will come to the same conclusion as Renoir knowing full well this will kill her.
They violated her copyrights
Expedition troon general thread
0 gay/transgender characters in actual game.
The thing you don't understand is that we simply do not know how much time has passed with Alicia inside the canvas.
Alicia could've simply trained and learned things like mind control by herself. She's shown old at her ending, like she's in the 50-60. It's very plausible for Alicia to have kept training.
That's just untrue. Alicia wants to fuck off because she doesn't want to feel the pain of her burning injuries, her face being disfigured and her mother who haters her.
Clea being a cunt barely hurts her at this point, plus it's just sisterly banter.
Clea and Renoir like Alicia, but that's not enough for Alicia.
Surely the best way to do this is to tip the scales (her wording) slightly in favor of my father so that he can be kind of close to winning after 67 years
That just proves how much of a beast Aline is when she controls all the chroma.
It's her playground, not theirs.
