the ark system games are somewhat similar to xanadu next: ys oath in felghana, ys ark of napishtim, and ys origins. personally those 3 are my favorite. the party based ys games like 7, 8, 9, celceta, and 10 *kinda* are all fairly good with 8 and 10 being the most notable.
Xanadu Next is one of Falcom's games, you're not really going to get much that compares to it. And the newer an Ys game is the further it is from everything to like about XN.

Even if they aren't great you get from them a quick introduction to everything you need to know about the series including the only events that get referenced in future entries with any regularity. They're also important to Origin.

1 & 2 are usually packaged together. It’s Legend of Zelda 1 but with level ups and bumper car combat that takes getting used to.
Or you can try Oath in Felghana -> Origins -> Ark -> Bastion is you want an isometric fast paced action RPG. I personally recommend this route
Or you can play Ys 8 and then 7, Celceta, IX, X if you want to play the party games with more standard 3rd person action games with spammy combat. I like these too but I probably wouldn’t recommend playing them first if you truly want to appreciate the series.
