Getting Paid to Play Games

Do you wish that you could play games and get paid for it? Have you tried streaming? How did it turn out?

i think about streaming drawing sometimes but i dont really like people and have zero social skills

You don't even need to show your face
Just a mic and some retarded idea that isn't commentator #20229921

2nd panel laundry

i can't stand even watching streams. i don't want you interacting with chat, motherfucker, i want you playing a god damn game. i wouldn't be able to handle idiots blathering at me while i'm trying to game, even if the idiots were giving me money.

Watching my oshi VTuber

Locked in when she's just yapping

Lose all interest the second she boots up a game

Am I retarded?

some types of games are more yap friendly than others. that's why i like strategy and city builders for falling asleep

It seems from looking at the big streamers themselves, it means playing games eventually turns into a chore you have to push yourself to do, play ones you don't really care for, etc.
And having to constantly stop and read comments, thank people for donations would be really annoying, on top of just making sure you are constantly saying entertaining things to keep the audience watching you.

So no, I wouldn't want to do that to my vidya experience

If I streamed myself it would be 3 hours of silent Anon Babble browsing with a 1/3rd chance of playing a game for 30 minutes then go to bed

for falling asleep

Rude

I don't have the charisma or strength not to yell slurs to be able to stream. I would have to become a let's player.

No as that'd suck the enjoyment out of playing vidya if there's a monetary incentive to doing it

Virtual YouTuber?

Have you tried streaming?

Yeah, once or twice

How did it turn out?

The only people that joined were trying to sell me profile pics

I try to put out 1 vid a week. My 2nd anniversary came up and I made a video, just like year 1, to remind myself how much I've done over the course of year. I stream sometimes, but it's been a while. My anxiety about streaming has kicked into overdrive so I haven't in a while. Which is dumb because streaming and chatting to folks is really fun. I need to get over it since I know it's pretty much gonna be my only way to grow at this point. Anyways, I hope to make some creator friends in year 3.

I streamed during covid and it started out mostly doing classic wow pvp throughout the day while i was wfh. i didn't average any viewers lel. maybe 1 or 2 would pop in here or there but to be fair i was afk for a lot of the day
i decided to turn my webcam on and acknowledge the first person who would join my stream and chat with them. it worked and after a week i had been able to maintain a solid ~5 people watching me every day but only if i had my cam on
Went to pax after covid and met some streamers who play an FPS i'm into and did my best to promote myself. told them i'm getting into streaming etc and just making nice. one of them raids me a few days after pax and i've been able to retain around ~80 viewers per stream, enough to get partnered. the money is not enough to live off though

>Watching my oshi VTuber

Am I retarded?

You still have to talk and entertain people, silly Anon.

Streaming looks fun if you don't make it your main gig.

I don't follow any popular streamers, but I follow a dude that streams like twice a week, 200-300 average viewers and he doesn't look miserable and doesn't trend chase, he just plays whatever he wants.

I want to try it but I don't want to be that guy that streams for months with only 1-3 viewers, I will probably start with YouTube and see if it picks up.

Calling them chat instead of chyat

Never gonna make it brah

Honestly that’s the healthiest way to approach it. If you go in thinking “this has to work or I failed,” you're just setting yourself up for burnout and disappointment. Streaming should just be a hobby you enjoy first, audience second. Starting with YouTube is smart too—you can edit out the dead air and make every second count, which builds way better engagement early on than sitting live with 0 people watching while you silently game.

Besides, 1-3 viewers is still something. Everyone starts there. Even Jerma’s first stream probably had a tumbleweed rolling through chat.

Do you wish that you could play games and get paid for it?

Right now I would love to do anything but my actual current job. But I am a boring cunt with zero charisma, who can barely put words into a sentence. So I doubt my content would be even remotely entertaining.
And on other hand, if I was actually fun and charismatic person, I probably wouldn't want to be some faggy streamer either.

You need to go all-in otherwise you'll never make it, which is fine if you're ok with it always being a side hustle/hobby
"be the person your younger self needed". The trend now is redpilling and "manosphere" content and a lot of zoomer guys are watching that stuff. Racebaiting, mgtow, all of it. Just have an opinion and stick to it and you'll get viewers

It'd be great to get paid to play vidya but that means either acting like a dumb nigger or entertaining dumb niggers. I have zero interest in being an eclown.

If I were a girl, I would stream. I would also have an only fans.

Just grow tits and you don't have to be either

That's what no-commentary walktroughs are for.

Same. I sometimes think about becoming a vtuber as side hustle or hobby, but I have heavy doubts because vtubing is female dominated and because of lots of bad faith actors.

how many generations has it been since the number one aspiration became streamer / influencer?

Watch no commentary playthroughs then. People like Shirrako usually satisfy the itch.

Can't stand when mine does collabs desu, I'm not there to listen to other retards, I want to listen to my retard

I'm not there to listen to other retards, I want to listen to my retard

They seem way to energetic and exaggerate every expression. I can't put on that facade it'd never work
This is my problem with Angry Video Game Nerd, love his stuff but these days he'll go 3 months without uploading anything then suddenly it's "Neighbor nerds" with some asshole on the couch next to him

Sus laundry

Streaming is about talking to and interacting with your audience.
I always need to fully concentrate and be immersed in a game or my performance suffers and I play poorly. Also if others are watching me, I get anxious about fucking up at a game which makes my performance suffer even more.

They seem way to energetic and exaggerate every expression

There are lots of those who are collected and maintain posture. The ones who exaggerate expressions usually do it for engagement and to get views. Not everyone is quirky adhd brained tard.

wheres the version of him just sitting in front of his computer as time passes by? thats the most realistic for me

Streaming just seems like an invitation to have your life ruined by a bunch of co-dependent schizos who treat you like a surrogate friend/father.

not interesting enough to do commentary

not good enough at games to do no commentary

No. People that watch streamers are idiots and I don't want to interact with idiots.

Not really.

tried?

Tried youtube. Wasn't lucky. Probably had a bad personality or unattractive voice.
Saw current eceleb landscape required 2+ years of videos or burner accounts before you'd gitgud.
Stopped trying.
Later found out said ecelebs made it from shitty networking, even the smallest channels needed to do it. And that the meta since had evolved into bribing larger accounts to get audiences.

Nowadays I'm fully aware that- >acting like a dumb nigger or entertaining dumb niggers.
yeah, this. Entertainers have always been lowbrow but they didn't used to be this kind of braindead.

When I was 14. Actual testers will tell you it sucks. Streaming? I'm not enough of a people person.

this honestly, i fantasize about streaming in general but the truth is i really dislike people and have 0 friends

Mostly true. If you want to make money out of being a streamer or e-celeb, nowadays it's all about networking and viewbotting. Unless you viewbot like hell and belong to some clique, you will never make it. Also dealing with retards, it's painful as hell.
Same. I am really fucking

I tried vidya reviews, but after 2 years and still at 400 subs I gave up.

*fucking annoyed by people and can't stand them

No, I hate the idea of turning my hobby into a job.
Maybe some day I'll make a video essay just to rant about some shit I love or hate.

Sussy laundry

would banned after having my nigger moment.

I have way too many problems

I recently made friends with someone who does that sort of thing.

It honestly doesn't seem all that fun unless you really like the game you make videos for.
A lot of work, and you become very committed to either the game you have a contact with the devs to make content about, or what your audience will watch. There are also quotas to make so many videos or streams per quarter that there really is a massive crunch at times. He also gets worried about keeping up his reputation online and he can't just unwind and use profanity and slurs whenever he feels like it.

I am not cut out for that sort of thing, and I'd much rather do a day job that I hate if it means keeping my professional and private life separate.

We really haven't hit the period where even in the pioneer of video game streamers haven't even hit their mid 40s yet. Do you really think most want to play vidya until the retirement age of 65. Do they even have an official retirement plan? As I go older, I just don't have the passion for video games and probably wouldn't make it as a full time streamer. I'll take the office job with the pension and 401k versus sitting in a chair and play shitty Dark Souls clones all day long for 10 people.

get first custom built computer years ago

decide to try to start streaming because it seems fun so why not

something is wrong wih my computer so every mic in it has a bit of noticeable static in it that nobody told me about for weeks for some reason

just loud enough to know most people aren't going to want to hear it over any dialogue

Strangely it can mostly be hidden by turning up the detection volume on discord, but only for discord. I gave up after I couldn't fix it.

for an art stream you can probably get away with focusing on the art as long as you
1: answer questions
2: occasionally explain the current phase of your process

open question:
would you watch a vtuber make a video game? Assembling assets, writing scripts, cursing profusely when shit should have worked but didn't?

toss edit.png - 1000x1000, 216.47K

No, but there's an audience for everyone.

You have negative charisma. We don’t need more 1 view streamers with severe autism

No, unless you have really good charisma or are female I won't watch, I cannot stand listening to a guy stream

uses the phrase "locked in"

Am I retarded?

Yes

I fucking hate streamers that don't play games

We have a system. If you have any charisma and you're streaming, you're Gamer Jake. If you don't, you're Stylized Icon and you better be damn good at what you do.
Vtubers are for fat chicks and their orbiting circle of underfucked touch starved dudes playing pretend girlfriend.

I made $2.5k the last 3 months from gpt sites, mostly raid shadow legends multiple times
