It's time to bite the bullet and play Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks on actual hardware, anon. Trust me, they are some of the best Zelda games.

honestly enjoyed these games as a kid, especially Phantom Hourglass. but I'm not sure I have it in me to replay them.

I already have and you are wrong. I guess they're better than most 3D zeldas though.

I've played PH and it's one of the worst Zelda games.

Ok fine I'll load it on the R4

Spirit Tracks

That's called noise, not music! That's called noise, not music! That's called noise, not music! That's called noise, not music! That's called noise, not music! That's called noise, not music! I hated Phantom Hourglass and stopped also holy shit I see a house centipede I can't type more I need to see this bug

I am so tempted to play picrel because I heard it had the best Zelda. But should I play PH first?

mobage control scheme

No thanks I'll just keep playing modded BotW and MM instead

spirit tracks is the worst Zelda game ever created

Look at it.
Probably hates the DS games too.

Filtered by the panflute?
Skiiiiiillllll isssssssuuuueeeee

Are there any games that used the DS as well as PH did? Seamless note-taking on the map in an adventure game is just so good.

some of the best

My brother in christ they are not in the top 20 zelda games

TWEWY is the gold standard for games that could only exist on the DS hardware. Actively using both screens, the touch controls, the streetpass mechanic, even fiddly shit like the microphone and like PH it has a puzzle where you have to close the DS.

Not to mention the ultimate puzzle.

that's a pretty cool bug

I already did and beat both.
People really like to whine about the controls but they aren't bad at all. They are responsive and the game never asks you to do anything complex or tight for it to be an issue.
I like ST a bit better, but i also like some of the weirder parts of PH. the flute too is skill issue
Underrated games desu, better than Minish Cap for fucking sure.

Until 2017.
Make your list then. If touch controls filtered you hard enough to rank it below ubislop ripoffs and meme games like Tingle's Rosy Rupee Land, that says more about you than it does about the games.

Phantom Hourglass is an okay basic ass Zelda if you can get past the controls. Spirit Tracks is total dogshit unless you're a train autist who just loves slowly riding around tracks all day.

you know, Im a metroid fan who finally played other m
you dont have to call the worst game in the series good because you bothered to play it. There should be no shame in playing a new game out of curiosity. There is no need to lie to us about how good it is when it sucks ass.

guys its time to play Other M, trust me its not that bad. Bite the bullet metroid bros

I never had a Wii U or Gamecube

You are NOT likening Other M to the DS Zeldas.
You are NOT doing that.
Samus being a little uncharacteristic bitch and needing permission to do basic functions isn't anywhere close to the same level

Taion is Indian, right? Or is he black? I thought he was Indian.

The touch controls aren't the issue, it's the dungeon design in PH and the overworld design (not just the train but also most of the villages) of ST.

There are mods that allow you to use the D-Pad and buttons for movement and the sword. Still need to control the items and boat/train with touch screen or mouse though. My friend played PH and ST for the first time on emulator using those and loved it.

Phantom Hourglass sucks because the Temple of the Ocean King sucks ass. Bitching and moaning about how it doesn't suck won't work because even Nintendo realized this and designed the Tower of Spirits to be much better. No need for backtracking or a fucking timer, an actual unique (and catchy) theme, just a fun interlude in between dungeons.

Also, complaints the train kept you railroaded in comparison to Phantom Hourglass is hogwash. In PH you draw a path to an island and your steamboat goes there. There's fucking NOTHING on the ocean. You have an illusion of free choice. All Spirit Tracks did was turn navigation into a puzzle too. Also, trains are cool.

someone decompile and remake them with normal controls

normal controls

Spirit Tracks, hands down. Linebeck's moment is neat, and reflects nicely on his character development, but it doesn't come close to an entire game's worth of Zelda fighting alongside Link and growing closer to him, not just as a fellow comrade in arms against a great evil, but as an actual friend. Many Zelda games have had their respective Links and Zeldas fight alongside one another, but when Zelda rushes to Link's side in the final push against Malladus, it's not just the royal obligations of a princess and a hero knight to their kingdom, it's the culmination of Link and Zelda's personal bond that has been fostered throughout the entire game.
You can't get much more kino than that.

I did a couple years ago, some of the last Zelda games I needed to cross off the list. Didn't like them much

But should I play PH first?

Absolutely the fuck not. Just play ST.

But should I play PH first?

Eh, they are asset flips. I think ST is the better overall but PH does some neat and interesting things. But yeah, you are not missing much if you go straight.

thanks bro

They aren't direct sequels. It's the same thing as OOT and MM. They are similar in engine and assets but standalone.

ST is indeed the direct sequel to PH, albeit two generations later

What did anon mean by this?

they're pretty good, yeah, had some of the best puzzles too.
retards of the past just refused to accept alternative control schemes, literally anti tank control retards 2.0
This game had the whole sketching notes on the map thing long before you needed a $450, $90 game and a phone app to do so lmao

Also the ost of Spirit tracks is 10/10, would kill for linebeck.

I still have these and my DS from years back. I replayed them 3 years ago. I don't know if it's time to go back yet. Linebeck is great.

Already did on my DSL back in 2008 and 100% it, but I recently got some nostalgia kick and bought a DSi to replay old DS games and play some that I never did.
