Make a game yourself fag

there were no buff people in the past

who made this image? It sounds like some seething faggot.
Wait...OP...Did you make this?

You're really telling me that they had bodybuilder type bodies back then?

Elden ring is none of that btw

Yes. Body sculpting has been a thing since Antiquity. See Ancient Greece. Not everyone was a starving midget.

Not gigastacked like Gregor (Even though with a fantasy setting there is nothing stopping this), but yeah, Body builders have always been a thing. Jesus christ.

OP is a faggot. How do we fix this?

Fantasy armor really bothers me not because of the functionality because too many details and shitty pointless designs shit like very few actually look
95% fantasy armors are mogged by any well made real plate armor
Dark souls had some good Armor
Also stuff designed by yoshida is really solid

I like fantasy in the modern'ish times. Shame it's rare to come across.

Dark lord who wear all black is chosen one

some creatures is unique some borrowed

orcs are cannon fodder, bad guys? Not nessesary, but they have to die

women in many roles

"good" team commit genocide and erase entire cultures, but feel no happiness from it, evil team do the same and much more and enjoys it

prophecies exist and being generated during the story, many proven to be false

some wizards is generic, but on "good" team they wear heavy armor and use weapons no less than magic

Dark Lord guards have superhuman muscles and strenght thanks to magic, but also very smart

armor actually protects, multiple times characters who refuse to wear helmets or armor die from strike in unarmored parts, character who wear armor almost always survive, altough often - barely

the non humanoids monsters is not nessesary evil some hunt humans due to they nature, some because they are evil and enjoy it

there will be blood

economy and trade not focus on the story, but when it's relevant, it's somewhat explained

some non-human races act similary but many is distinct entities

"good" guys wear multitude of color, main ones being black and red, "bad" guys often larp as good, wearing white

Thoughs?

hi guys OP here I'm trans btw don't know if that matters

Most of these are pretty basic trope inversion, but the reason they're basic is because they work. What's important with dark fantasy is that there still has to be some ray of hope somewhere in there and that it's not just constant misery porn all the time. Your ideas are cool though, I'd read a book with that premise

protein was invented in the 20th century

The Greeks were famously into working out and that was 2,500 years ago. The Romans also thought that was rad, and since all Western civilization is based off of Rome, it's something that carried on as the ideal form of man.

Women are only present as queens, princesses, or some position of power

Bonus if damsel in distress

I thought we defeated feminism back in 2016.

You DON'T know better than Tolkien. Unless you can write a dissertation on his works, you have no business subverting the tropes he created.

there are potions capable of restoring deadly wounds in seconds just by drinking them, you are telling me someone cant make roids?

I can't tell if this pic is supposed to be ironic or not. It reads like it's making fun of people who hate on generic fantasy. All of that is pure kino and the bedrock of western fantasy.

In the first ever wagon train to California, the Bidwell-Bartlett Party, there was 1 woman who volunteered to go along the trail with over 60 men, and she only went because her husband was intent on going and she wanted to keep him out of trouble. That should give you a clue on how rare it was for women to do any sort of adventuring.

She was 17 and had brought her daughter along with her, too.

I happen to like all those tropes.

Today's roidheads would call this physique small

This faggot literally has ASOIAF which is literally the opposite of all his complaints and is super popular and yet he's still complaining because there are people who still enjoy high epic fantasy.

Fantasy games should take inspiration from the many fantasy novels that aren't Tolkienshit, your Dying Earth, Book of the new sun, Elric, LeGuin, etc

So elf pussy would literally kill you? Based as fuck.

Well yeah, everyone was smaller back then. The average height of a Roman man was 5'5", and the Romans were some of the largest people on Earth at the time owing to their high protein intake (Romans had recipes for every type of protein around them from dormice to jellyfish to flamingo tongue).

Also there was an allegedly 8 foot tall emperor, though modern scholarship believes the contemporary source to be making up bullshit.

finally another genre perfect for rollslopping against dragons who form combos like tekken characters

It's like death by snu snu except instead of 10 foot tall Amazonian women it's a 5 foot tall elf woman.

created

He just compiled and sloppified existing tropes from a thousand years of mythology. Harry Potter for boomers. It’s trash if you read it without nostalgia goggles.

Wizards and wise men always look like Odin personified

What’s wrong with that, you shit lord? Age and experience, wisdom, has always been associated with magic. Beards aren’t the only way to demonstrate age.

It's not boring, it's played out. Nobody can improve on the original content.

This is the problem. Tolkein is what people think fantasy is, and he set the expectations incredibly high. He was so good at worldbuilding that whatever shitty spinoff you come up with is going to pale in comparison. If you made anything good, you probably copied him inadvertently and used people's preexisting feelings about those themes. He's the reason anyone understands/cares about your elves and mages. He may as well have written half of what you wrote, and is responsible for most of the emotional content of other fantasy.

This is why scifi is so difficult to write. You have to establish everything. And whatever worldbuilding you make is going to suck compared to even the most knockoff fantasy worldbuilding.

bit of an exaggeration

Not especially. Fantasy prior to him is rudimentary at best, or inaccessible/incomprehensible mythology. Not saying he was the greatest writer ever, just that the worldbuilding isn't something anyone can reasonably replicate.

the modern interpretation for elves, orcs, dwarves, dragons, and countless other fantasy creatures all come from tolkien. He invented modern fantasy as we know it

I, for one, like Lord of the Rings more than A Song of Ice and Fire.

Anyone whos actually read both books would probably agree. It helps that Tolkien actually, you know, finished his work.

he definitely is a pillar but saying even a knockoff would mog a scifi story unless you do crazy worldbuilding is a bit exaggerating no?

this is why redditors and atheists are so retarded. you know that if you exercise, you are compelled to eat more right?

What does atheism have to do with working out?

>"good" team commit genocide and erase entire cultures, but feel no happiness from it, evil team do the same and much more and enjoys it

Sure we bombed those hospitals and slaughtered those orphans, but at least we were le sad!

Amerimutt moment.

That's correct. Some cultures you have to wipe out.

Sound's like an unironic skill issue.
A true force of heroes can inspire good in the most wretched of villain.
For how long have you used this excuse of necessity to justify your impotent?

Nah, there are straight up evil cultures out there that have to be stamped out. Like the Melanesian cultures where they rape little kids as a rite of passage, or the Aztecs and their 900 weekly sacrifices, or India...
