Playing action games would actually be far less interesting, while also so much harder to make work. The interesting question that is being answered by playing Pokemon is if Claude can handle long term planning, juggling various intermediate goals, and spatial navigation. Making him play Mario would be far less interesting beyond the novelty of him having to figure out to handle moving in some sort of real time on a non-grid system.

Spatial reasoning is probably the least interesting part, because as shown by the GPT harness, you can easily just solve that for him because we have tools that can do pathfinding. If you could somehow devise a way to actually translate a LLM's output of "go stab that skeleton, then continue down the corridor with your shield up to block the archer" into the exact keystrokes needed, what would you gain over watching him play a turn based game beyond "I want to see Claude interact with my favorite"? If you think Pokemon isn't interesting enough, you could easily throw him into XCOM, Dragon Quest, or even try something like Ace Attorney where there's a much bigger emphasis on plot and things for him to schizo out about. Conversely, you could put him into a much more gameplay driven situation like Slay the Spire or Balatro and see how well he's able to handle a fairly complex network of interactions.

He missed both moonstones despite having two mons who need one. Better go get them.

You can easily see the walls in the tunnel and it's a straight shot. His RAM will also be able to see what's in his immediate surroundings. The loop is far less brutal than Mt. Moon, it's a more linear cave. I'm just saying, flash really isn't that important to get through. It's quite visible even without it.

Guess I'll come back in 2-3 days. He was THIS close to Flash, but then defaulted to being a retard and DIGGING. It'll take another 12 hours to go back to Route 2 through Diglett's Cave and then he'll Dig out again in an hour, only to repeat again and again.

The loop is far less brutal than Mt. Moon, it's a more linear cave.

Rock tunnel has two floors and the "linear" path requires tracking back and forth between each floor multiple times. There are two sections that are circular loops and half a dozen dead ends. He can see the floor from the map data each time he goes down or up a stair and could easily decide each time he's on the wrong floor or has gone backwards and Dig to restart. It's at least as bad as Mt Moon with Dig.

Plus the whole time it will look like shit for us the audience, even if we can see the wall outlines.

in addition, Rock Tunnel has the same problem as Mt Moon and Route 4: the destination (Route 10) on the far side is also the starting route. Claude might turn around and accidentally walk out the start and decide he's arrived on the far side and now needs to find the way to Lavender Town instead of going "back" into the tunnel. All the same Mt Moon problems right there waiting for him.

It's gonna suck enjoy what we have for now and hope he loses Dig before we get there.

I'd rather be in the Rock Tunnel loop with no flash than to have flash and be stuck in the same place Claude Jr was at forever. Right now he's going towards the daycare center for some reason.
