What modern RTS will scratch that generals itch?
Warlockracy thread?
Rise of the Reds
I just watch his video too and damn, he makes Tib Sun sounds so boring to play.
build a bunch of Titans
a-move to enemy base
I'm going to try TibWars, it's a shame GDI retired mech tech because "muh joints".
from Osama bin laments game list
ULTRA BASED.
Half the fun in C&C games is the hype soundtrack and cool characters. RA2 did it best adding great setpieces and missions in the mix.
doesn't that faggot only do CRPGs?
Generals evolution.
Oh, I did complete RA2 about 8 years ago or so. Got filtered by Yuri's Revenge, I think, that game is more hardcore (but to be fair, RA2 is really easy so I understand why they made YR harder).
really? I don't remember YR campaign being more difficult than some of the base game campaign missions (all in hard).
he's done 2 space sims in the last year
He hasn't yet realized Youtube has already pigeonholed his channel as an RPG one.
He's a draft dodging criminal hiding in Europe lol
At least that's how I remember it. Honestly, the only RTS which I played a lot, and I mean a lot, was DoW1 with expansions. It's pretty easy, and I like the factions.
There was no draft in Russia, only ~partial mobilization~
Russia has the most emigrants in the world.
Based, the man knows he would be a t1 barracks unit that just gets sacrificed to base defenses for scouting
hopes and expectations for DOW 1 def ed?
No member of the brotherhood would shirk from dying for kane.
Warhawks and talking heads wished they had even a sliver of charisma that was at Joe Kucan's disposal desu.
That it doesn't run like complete unfiltered dogshit which seems to be a trend with most demakes these days. That and not asking for $100 on release.
It will be $30 at best.
Go on a loop playing various C&C games
Try to play a non C&C RTS
Think "man I wish I was playing RTS instead of this"
Start loop again
How do I fix this?
genuinely don't know why people like generals
it's the worst C&C out there (C&C4 doesn't exist)
Play C&C games instead of nonC&C ones
Crazy how Joe hasn't aged a day. That's what tiberium does to a man I guess.
I wish FMVs were back.
The GDI mechs come back in Kane's Revenge or whatever it was called for CnC3. That was a pretty damn good expansions. All the factions got subfactions with their own special units making them play quite differently. The Steel Talons were what the GDI faction with all the mechs were called.
never liked command and conquer. just couldnt get into it.
Those were one of the painfully few instances of good (or, at least, "so bad they're good") FMVs, from the entire 1990s craze.
They were a product of the technology of the era strangely enough. Graphical fidelity wasn't quite there to produce "reasonable" facial models for the characters, so just getting real actors on real sets to do the cutscenes made sense. Some of the Wing Commander ones are actually not half bad, but some of the costumes are a little silly. Practically all of the Kilrathi just look goofy.
I never played any of the C&C games, was always more of a Warcraft and Starcraft guy. Which of the C&C games are good? All of them? Is there one that's the best to start with?
Fan favorites usually tend to be Red Alert 2, Generals/Zero Hour, and Tiberian Sun. Red Alert 3 and CnC 3 were near the end of the series before EA killed it then revived it as a mobile app game and aren't as fondly remembered.
Start with Generals
has C&C 4 as "I want more of the same"
FUCKMING RETARDED CHART SHIT PISS FUCK! IGNORE THIS GARBAGE ITS ALL GAGAMROHIANMERTOIHnj
I thought Mechcommander FMVs did a pretty good job of portraying Battletech.
I don't understand why Planetside 2 but Tiberium Sun isn't a thing.
dawn of war 2
huh? Inst that about a single platoon running around? also needs planetary annihilation
thanks lads
It is. kinda...c&c renegade
If you want color of arrows to determine something, maybe make them bolder.
shitass imaginary fallout video does so bad he has to get a grifter techbro "learn2code" sponsor
Made me lol ngl
yeah but that never had time to breath or exist longer than 6 months.
With Helldivers 2 thankfully fucking over the existence of Starship Troopers which never delivered a game. I'm looking for a franchise to fill the void that would be sure certainties with expansive lore just locked away in dust.
A Stargate FPS still doesn't exist when zoning of maps makes a whole fuck tonne of sense. Tiberium Wars revisited because of subterranean / radar / fire and aesthetics including mother fucking aliens. I've mind blanked the last game though.
I wonder if he still gets people calling out his stage name in the street.
You should try silica. It's an RTS/FPS hybrid which has similar themes to starship troopers in a sense.
You should try silica
Pretty sure most RTS fans did after seeing the current state of the genre
At that point he should just play Starship Troopers:Terran Command. Of all the Starship Troopers games out there, it's probably the best.
images that you can hear
RTS games operate on a whole other level when it comes to this shit. I've probably lost what little braincells I had to begin with just from the sheer amount of unit quotes that continue to live rentfree.
Lmao
Yeah I do. I command aliens with Diamond rank SC2 spam and after the 3rd week of CPU only unless its the weekend for American prime time I dropped it.
Game is good but the numbers aren't there. Also since the meta always catered to end game units waves of certain units just don't do it for me.
had to drag boomer Rico out of retirement just to bank on the memes
when the dude was playing the other game with his kids anyway before he got the call
KWAB
Old FMV's can be really soulful or extremely bad. I haven't seen any modern FMV that's good in video games but love them in RTS games. They can be really cheesey like Roundabout or down right retarded like the Quietman. youtu.be
Can you imagine an FPS where you can insert back into the enemy base by a subterranean vehicle digging a whole through the fucking walls. The earth quake like shake telling you enemy reinforcements have popped up somewhere.
People being melted alive because flame barriers are a thing, or getting disintegrated by a NOD laser.
The screech of something unearthly before the swarm of robotic things tear you apart. Mechs like BF2042 from Wolverines & Titans. Commandos. Everything aesthetic is fucking there but untouched I fucking hate EA and their stupidity that they can't make anything good.
Joe was dicking around with a camera just to see if putting cinematics into a game would work
used himself as a placeholder because no money to hire A let alone Z listers
ends up becoming a mainstay in the process because the testers thought he looked like a great villain
Now you have one shot before FAG starts knocking on your door and asking for a tribute. Nepotism and it's consequences.
starship troopers: terran command is very fun.
James Earl Jones was in Tiberian Sun as well, which I forgot until I replayed it. Guy does a good job as the GDI general.
The skirmish mode has some very light base building elements but it got thrown in there for consistency sake. DoW III was the one that threw itself off a cliff trying to chase the Assfaggots.
Captcha : GAT+>8t<>>+
I fucking love his autistic shit. Occasionally when he falls too far down the slav-hole he'll lose me but I very much appreciate him making up a story as he plays since I do too and it's the best way to enjoy RPGs. The slav-digressions are usually fine but the full length videos on the finer points of slavjank vary
It's not an RTS. It is RTT
True but it does make you wonder how much potential kino was lost along the way because you can't use nobodies in your production anymore without paying the 10k fine. Everyone had to start somewhere and pulling up the ladder before smashing it to bits doesn't help anyone in the long run.
C&C is a thinking man's game franchise. There isn't any profit in making games for them since they are the small minority of visual audience these days.
Inb4 $60
I mean, the views are on average. but this is a funnier narrative I guess.
*ting ting ting*
As much as I love the CnC series, they were definitely just as much for normies as they were anyone else. People loved making the super weapons or the gimmick units because they were cool, not necessarily because they were good. Which they usually aren't. Blizzard went the other way and made their multiplayer side of things devoid of the neat gimmicky units or the silly shit, and just put all that in the singleplayer campaigns and co-op mode for SC2. It's almost like people were happy just playing these games to stomp the AI as they were to play against other people. A good rts I think should cater to people who like spectacle as much as they should competitive balance.
Scratch that, competitive balance is more an accident and not a deliberate thing most of these games had.
Even normies back then could intuitively play the RTS games to an effect but zoomers find RTS's to be bizarre, speaking from anecdotal evidence of seeing several young guys struggling with RTS games. For a generation who like being bombarded by content, they don't seem to react very well in real time decision making.
I recently tried Red Alert 1. I never played the originals.
However literally everything is bound to left mouse button. How can you play that? My finger starts hurting.
For a generation who like being bombarded by content, they don't seem to react very well in real time decision making.
content being beamed into their brain and rotting it does not carry with it any kind of decision making or thinking in the process.
They are on auto pilot.
It's like saying "for a generation strapped into auto-mastrubators, these zoomers sure can't move their hips and fuck"
obligatory play mental omega
when they do the steam release of it.
do you have some kind of physical issue with your fingers?
still having fun with COH2 despite the 1 kiddies tears
*drops mic*
Repetitive strain injury I think it's called. It only happens in RA1. I have no issue with high APM in starcraft or other games as you alternate between other buttons
Lost them during a honeymoon with the android wife. He didn't read the warning label.
r/RealTimeStrategy
it's literally over
Maybe the remaster lets you use an alternate LMB and RMB scheme. You could check.
Is Tempest Rising worth it? It looks cool.
Its okay
It's alright but it's no C&C. You could wait till they release the third faction (that is if they don't cut their losses and run).
The popularity of RTSs was inflated because of the amazing custom maps for WarCraft 3.
These eventually became their own games like with DotA 2 and League of Legends.
Yes, reddit is usually retarded, but in this case there does seem to be a trend of newer RTS games exclusively trying to cater to people who like to play incredibly competitive multiplayer and don't consider the single player aspects of the game to be important. Those ex-Blizzard devs just found out with their abortion of a game that released with the multiplayer first that people might want to play something that isn't a sweat lord 90% of the time.
it's not bad, Worth a play for free.
But for the money it's asking, dunno.
Soundtrack is good, sound design is good.
units feel pretty punchy and satisfying to use like in C&C.
Campaign is decent, but not as good as C&C stuff.
Multiplayer who cares.
RTS LIVES.
Would tower defense qualify as RTS or as a subgenre of it?
why don't you come play CoH 3? I'll beat your ass in it.
shan't buy your mobile game
indie scam shit that will never ever release
passion projects are... le bad
it's not even in EA yet
Tower defense is literally just RTS games for turn based fags. Think about it.
waaahhh I can't play the game right now so it is a SCAM
retardation. It doesn't even have a patreon or kickstarter btw.
I'd have liked to see TibSun and RA2 get the cnc remaster treatment.
You're looking at it the wrong way. He's finally big enough to get noticed for shilling ads.
I can never understand how TD works. There's no economy or micro like in RTS that makes it easy to understand and get good at. I can never understand why I lose in TD.
Most TD games are really more or less puzzle games. Some of them if towers have active abilities you turn on or off might be a bit more involved but still the same premise.
There's a min max you slowly have to discover and find through experimentation or sifting through wikis.
theres no economy
there is. you need to buy towers that can handle the expected enemies and compliment each other. you need to avoid being wasteful and upgrading rather than building more
there is no micro
most good TD games have just a bit of micro but some can be more autistic like no creeps were harmed
Paradox games
I'm not paying 60 dollars to have the privilege to pay even more money to have the rest of the game.
warcraft 3 is the most popular RTS right now
I can't believe my eyes.
DO NOT REEDEM MR LEEE BIIIITCHHH!
Theres some cool tiberian sun chinese overhall mods that looks cool as fuck, forgot their names though.
got planetary annihilation
start a campaign on normal
enemy commander idle at the edge of his undefended base
free kill everytime
play on hard
enemy isn't idle
get a mission with 1 planet with 4 moons
3 enemy commanders
if the enemy takes control of the main planet I'm very likely gonna lose
get overwhelmed by attacks from all angles every second
I suck at RTS but I love the planetary destruction novelty
stay away from the devs new game though. It's quite literally a scam.
how so? tldr?
When does this game become fun? I've tried TEC, Vasari, and Advent to see if there was a particular faction (or subfaction) I liked but it feels like 80% of the game is spent at the macro level view so I rarely get to really engage with the fights when they do happen. That and sometimes both the pirates and independent planets will just completely ignore any amount of diplomatic goodwill I try to build with them at all and still attack. This game seemed like fun but I'm not having any.
game had 2 successful kickstarters and has had like 3 years development time but the demo was so barebones like it was a day 100 pre alpha build.
