Gameplay aside, how do you feel about keanu's performance in cyberpunk 2077
boring, monotone and lifeless. couldn't be any further away from a supposed fuckup rockstar drug addict terrorist
Bland and phoned in just like all of his performances
Overrated actor
like his every "acting" role, flat and monotonous
His performance felt stunted, stiff and stilted, he was phoning it in but also trying too hard. He was miscast and likely added simply for name recognition and because of his comeback into the big screen with the John Wick films. Honestly couldn't give a shit if CDPR decides to waste more Polish taxpayer money on expensive Hollywood actors in their vidya, it'll just accelerate their bankruptcy in the long run.
He sounded exactly like he does in every role he plays
Completely lacking the kind of intensity you'd expect from the role.
Game started sucking pretty much as soon as he appeared on the screen. The prologue is amazing.
keanu is a soft spoken, kinda shy, introverted, usually calm and collected
johnny silverhand is supposed to be the rockstar whose all about blowing corps up
i think keanu did adequate, but def athe optimal cast
that said, i like keanu and hes a part of why i like the game
didn't care for it - dude's a blank for self-inserting in his movies, not an actor. Thank fuck they're casting him right, his films are spectacular.
Compare him to Willem Dafoe & you'll see what I'm talking about.
Impressive cock
Breathtaking
on par with his usual acting skills - mediocre
frfr lil bro
Keanu's best role ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBvj3reylIw
ruined the game for me desu, everytime I think about replaying it I remember silverhand and don't bother.
I'm currently playing through the game and his performance is tonally pretty bad in some scenes (like meeting Alt or Takemura for the first time) which is surprising since almost everyone else seems to manage just fine, and in other scenes like when you have the heart-to-heart with him outside the church or the motel I thought it was good.
Overall I think my expectations for him were higher and since Johnny is supposed to be an unsympathetic and unreliable character that might affect my assessment as well but it's nothing game ruining.
Compared to Judy or Jackie it clearly doesn't uphold the same standard though.
I guess I'm on the minority but I liked it, and I say this as someone that doesn't really like most of Keanue's work since he can't really act aside from the usual exhausted quite-yelling.
I think I liked it BECAUSE it's one of the times the usual exhaustion kinda works, at least for me. Everyone here is saying how Silverhand is a punk rock anarchist that should be louder and wilder but a part of Silverhand's chaarcter is that he's a deadbeat cynic that has given up on any actual change and only rebel's out of spite. Him sounding tired and checked out works for me cause he really does seem checked out, constantly mocking V in all his side missions that invovle any actual attempt at helping people or change and only get's a thrill from messing with Arasoka because fuck them.
Still shocking how Keanue gets work. He literally brought all of B&T Face The Music down with him and his inability to emote any feeling whatsoever.
It was uneven. Some parts he delivered poorly, some parts were good. Apparently due to how everything was being done digitally thanks to covid, the shittier lines were probably phoned in (literally)
He sounds drunk and bored but I like Johnny overall
everyone has implants for auto language translation
people still talk in broken english instead of their own language
It was so cringe the way they made Hanako or Takemura speak engrishu instead of their jap, or the hispanics and every other nationalities. Only letting in 1 word here and there to remind the retards playing that they are of foreign heritage.
They always tell you it's wrong to shoot people, but remember, faggots ain't people
I just don't know why Keanu insisted on this line being added in the script. Gives Johnny more character i guess, but what the fuck
I like his acting but I don't like Johnny Silverhand.
He did a really good job. I warmed up to Johnny quite a lot by the end after all we'd been through together.
He's the only thing that made it bearable.
Totally utter shit excuse for a game, otherwise.
worst part about Cyberpunk. His whole persona is just: LOOK AT ME IM HOT SHIT. All his dialogues boil down to: fuck the world I'm a badass.
Fucking cringe as fuck.
You don't speak japanese with americans in america. That is impolite.
I mean, yeah, that's the point. He's the ghost of a deadbeat seething the world moved on without him.
I enjoyed it. Reeves is usually playing stoic characters, so it was interesting having him play someone more abrasive.
he doesn't have to constantly barge in conversations to tell me to just fuck everyone to death. Shut the fuck up loser.
Dull
Then the game succeded at what it was trying to do. You're supposed to quickly peg him as the delusional has-been he is.
seething the world moved on in a way that doesn't please him
Fixed that.
I would love to know if the rumor about the story rewrite is true.
he was good
That's his cope and how he excuses it, but through the narrative you can tell it's just as much of him being a egotist upset that HIS impact meant little. That HE didn't change the world. Part of his development is learning there is bigger shit in the world than him and to actually think about and care for others.
People say this is a cheap way of showing someone's foreign, but I have met people who talk like that IRL
I feel the problem was that while having him in definitely boosted sales, it completely erased the character of Johnny and made him just be Keanu.
It would be one thing if you only had subtle references here or there (the John Wick inspired mission or the pseudoreference to Bill & Ted) but CDPR practically scream the fact that it's Keanu throughout the game...
I already thought the pills that Misty offers to you was too on-the-nose of a Matrix reference, but then they do another even more obvious red pill/blue pill during that one Afterlife cutscene! And sure, those moments get out a chuckle, but having the supposed theme of the game be "identity" when Silverhand isn't even allowed to have one outside being played by Keanu definitely is a weird choice
celebrity worshipers should be nose-fed kerosene and doused in battery acid until they stop moving
wow you took a pill? Dont you think thats on the nose?
Delusional
He absolutely doesnt fit the role of a fierce punk
Which celeb is going to play as him in sequel?
People love Keanu and I get it, he seems like a nice and humble guy but he just can't act very well, not in the 90s and not now - he works as John Wick because he has on average 7 lines per movie and he's great at stunts.
I mean, even her dialogue presents it as a choice between one set of pills that suppresses Johnny and another one that let's him take over V
Seein it as a reference is not that farfetched lmao
In the sense of, both are a choice between taking back your life (Red Pill/Johnny is supressed) and giving away control of your life (Blue Pill/Johnny takes over)
More bad then good. He's good in the quieter moments, but it feels like him swearing comes off as forced.
Then during more intense emotional moments he's just not good, like when he yells at the guy recording when Alt dies.
ArE yOu StIlL rOlLiNg!?
Unrelated to his performance but I thought it was funny he didn't like Judy or River.
Idris Elba
again?
Judy is just Johnny but female and gay
Retarded idealist who deals with problems in all the wrong ways
He's good when Johnny self-reflects and gets wistful. His last line when sending V back is great too. "So long V and never stop fighting". He is a bad pick for Johnny as a whole though. He's meant to be loud, raucous, a showboat and Keanu cannot do it.
I didn't like Johnny at first but after two playthroughs, I started liking him. I think he's overhated. I realized this after playing Phantom Liberty and he's gone for a little bit, then seeing him again was like having an old friend back. Nothing will ever beat Midna, but he's moved up the companion character ranks for me a bit.
And Reeves himself is fine if you find the right part for him.
wake the fuck up you lazy spic weeaboo faggot-ass samurai, we got some niggers to lynch
Why did Keanu insist on this as well? What did he mean by this?
A bit stiff, like all his performances, but overall pretty good.
In PL, it starts to get retarded and cringe buddying up and drinking beer with the president of the United States in a setting like Cyberpunk so I'm glad he's there to counteract that.
t. American who has never spoken to anyone ESL
Happens constantly. I know some Swedish people who all constantly bounce between full English, full Swedish, and something inbetween.
I know a Jap girl I met once (only knew her online before) who would in person talk in accented English before going "ano... eto... nandake..." whenever she couldn't remember a word
Real life anime
Kurt Russel's a.i.-generated voice.
I did not buy cyberpunk because of him
I did not pirate it because of him
I did not buy or pirate the dlc because of him
I did not watch the anime because of him
I will not play the tabletop system, buy or pirate the second game or give any meaningful consideration to the studio because of keanu fucking reeves.
This shit opened my eyes to just how pathetic an actor he is. Singular in the most boring possible way, no range, no emotion. Just a reputation he's coasted on for a lifetime. People who can only play themselves at least tend to be able to sell it a little but. This aging fuck sounds like he's never done more then read his lines.
I uninstalled and refunded before I even got to him
You should have figured that out by 1999
i wasnt even born that year!
Dracula was 1992.
What kind of writer decides to intentionally put an annoying scumbag in the protagonist's head that you can't mute or ignore and who's entire purpose is to be as cringe as possible?
