You can say any number between 1-10 and at least one guy will agree with you

Classic series? Probably MM9, although I haven't played MM11 for comparison.

I'd need to replay the whole series to really make a judgement out of everything. I would say MMX1 at one point, but the need to constantly be holding the dash button (you loose momentum in the air if you let go of it) was actually a bit annoying. Highlights are MM9, MMX1, MMX4, and the Zero series. So the best overall Mega Man game is probably one of those.

Legends is archaic (controls are very awkward now) and I'm not impressed with the Battle Network games.

(controls are very awkward now)

Anyone who says this about any game is weak.

It just means they didn't play it when it was current. Complaining about controls in old games is peak zoomer.

X2 is the most fun to replay.

9
X1
Zero 3

This is cope. I never played that game specifically, but 3d digital control Playstation games were absolutely baffling at the time.

Go boot up Duckstation and give MML1 a try. Then come back and try saying the controls and nice and smooth. They were a bit clunky back in the 90s when Zelda's Z-targetting was the biggest comparison. I shouldn't need to point out why it's a problem now, with nearly 30 years of third-person action and targetting improvements have been implemented in games.

x4 and x6

Rockman and Forte.

It's a pseudo-tank controls game where you're expected to run and gun, and your lock on / manual aim button is more akin to becoming a cumbersome rooted turret where you stand. There's a reason why people say the second game may not be as charming as the first, but it plays leagues better.

I stand by my statement. Your brain is inflexible if you can't adapt to a control scheme, no matter how atypical it is.

MM9

I played all the classic games last year. 9 was the best and only one I beat without save states

If 9 is the only one you can actually beat, you can beat the others. 9 is generally more challenging than previous games.

X5. You're just embarrassing yourself if you disagree.

The only embarrassment here is the contrarian defending a kusoge with powerpoint presentation cutscenes

the one where he doesn't show up

I'm a bit hazy but I feel the castles were harsher in the earlier games and 7 especially has the toughest final boss.

he has trouble playing Legends

Sounds like a skill issue.

X6 belongs in the trash heap, even kusoge are at least funny at best. good OST though

Sounds like you're one of the retards who gave Inafune $3 million because he's the father of Mega Man and can never do anything wrong.

fuck MM11 i guess

Genuinely forgot that game exists.

11 is good but it commits the cardinal sin of a megaman game by having a forgettable soundtrack

Not at all a pleb opinion to appreciate strong stage gimmicks and special weapons.

all these MM4 chads

even some mentions of MM7

Supreme taste in this thread.

but the need to constantly be holding the dash button (you loose momentum in the air if you let go of it) was actually a bit annoying

What? That's only true for the ground
When you dash jump or fall off the ledge, you have dash speed until you land

Ther'es a mouse injector fr Duckstation and someone got it to work with legends. May help things out.

What's the consensus on the ZX games?
I'm in the middle of the first one and it's kinda comfy.

I liked MM10

Mega Man 9 and 10, they're very polished and add cool features like Protoman and Bass being playable, and the gimmicks in the boss stages are fun.

Poorly designed, squandered potential, just like the Zero games and anything else Inticreates shits out.

I think they're fine, but there's not enough incentive to or distinctions with the transformations, and it comes to a head in ZXA.

I know it's a shit game deep down but I love Legends weird Tatsunoko dungeon crawling whatever the fuck it is it's unreal. 2 is okay too it's like a Zelda game with a autoaim pistol and that works for what it does I guess.

ZX's Guardian models were cool
Advent's boss transforms were lame

Stages taking place in a connected world with sidequests and missions is fun

I gave him 3,000 for a VITA version.

What's that MMX fan game that has taken years and years to make? Unleashed? Unlimited? Unwhatever?

Corrupted.

All of them, except MMX8 demake.

MMX8 demake

WHAT

Okay, yeah that one. Is it out?

Yea I'm really liking the world of ZX. It reminds me of Sonic Adventure if that comparison makes sense,

Corrupted. And Chrono X.

Is it out?

9, X1, Zero 3, Don't care about the rest of the series'

It wasn't a good game, and worse of all the music was shit. You can't persuade me that anyone who has played 1-10 would have 11 as their favorite.

I am not sure about the classic series. I played 1-6 back to back and they honestly were all great games. Hard to choose one over the other. Probably would say 2/3/4 were best but maybe I should return to them again to find out.

As for the X series its a lot easier for me. X4 is my favorite. Won't even debate on that. X1, then X2, then X3. Used to put X3 at second place but I finally see what some meant about the issues it got. Still a great game though and far better than X5 through to X8. I don't even care about ranking them desu.

I also did play a bit of the Zero games but cannot remember them much. Would have to play them all to completion. I don't think I completed them as a kid.

Also played Legends but same as with Zero. Would have to play it again to really give an opinion.

Never played the Battle Network games.

best

X4 since it is my favorite overall and I will always hate Capcom for not using it as the template for the rest of the X series when it was obvious they should have.

No, it commits the cardinal sin of having Mega Man drop to the floor when passing through the boss door.

While MM11 may not be the best classic game, Blast Man's level is the most fun level in the classic series.

SF3

A lot of people give it shit but when I think mega man I think 3. It also has the best soundtrack and the coolest robot masters and if you disagree we CANNOT be friends.

Kek its amazing how different they look with an armor swap

It will always be X1

The part where you escape the burning down set is sick

Faberge Egg Man?

X.

If you play that - you've played them all.

MM8 is dogshit

No one likes 5.

I like 5. I just like it less than every other mainline game except 7,8, and 11.

Every NES Megaman besides 1 (And maybe 3) has some merit. Even 6.

Yeah that animation change felt so wrong. I didn’t realize how much I appreciated that little hop into the boss room until MM11 took it away. It just doesn't feel like Mega Man without him phasing through with that confident stride.

8 has issues but it's not bad. Beautiful looking game.

Megaman X1 will always be the best game of all, Megaman X2, X5, Classic 5, 3 and 2 are also good.
Legends 1, 2 and the misadventures of Tron Bonne are also great.
Battle network 3 is the best of its series.
Havent played starforce
Zero games are pretty nice as well.

Good timing for this thread, I finished up beating almost all the Classic games last night after having only ever finished the X series and Gameboy Classic entries prior to this year.
I really wish MM10 let me map Bass's Dash to anything that isn't the slide input, it really kills the flow.

You have some explaining to do.
