Ain't nothing quite like a full sim setup
Ain't nothing quite like a full sim setup
TELL ME WHY
Just drive a real truck incel
just get a driverslicense retard
I do sims because a lot of the cars I would like to drive are very expensive. I also like flight simulator but thats because I have a private pilots license, hangar fees are expensive flight simulator is not.
Not happening until those screens reach the 10kHz range.
Just get a vr headset at that point.
Is trucking easy, bros? I wanted to learn but classes are pricey
PSR shillpost

sim racing hardware is all fun and games until one day you wake up and realize you've spent $5,000+ on toys to play the same 4 janky broken sim games that you're bored of (and at this point you're only playing because of sunk-cost fallacy) and the only things worth getting in it for anymore is some mx5 or gt3 series on iRacing for the 800th time
it's really not worth it unless you REALLY enjoy competitive online racing with rich dads and washed up IRL backmarkers
Based bro
Living the dream when I make it this is definitely on my list
all truckers i know are highschool dropouts, so yeah i guess it's pretty fucking easy
Surely you don't have to go as high as 5 grand To have a good time
Pilot a fucking Baron or Bonanza instead of whatever the fuck this is
Not all. People become drivers for a lot of reasons.
You don't, but simracing is like keeping fish. You start with one tank and then seemingly overnight you end up with ten tanks and an indoor pond.
I just realize this was a truck sim lmao
I just want one to play Gran Turismo
I can see that happening. Who sims truck driving btw lmao why would you sim going slow as fuck
driving without shoes
Yeah fucking right, you try hammering that clutch all day long with your feet, no shot
You can usually get workforce/unemployment or whatever the equivalent is in your state to help you out, they always need drivers. I assume this is true in Europe as well.
If you're unemployed you can probably get it for free. Just pretend like being a trucker is your dream.
i loved driving when i started, first car was a 80s 300z turbo. t-tops, popups, 2 seater, rwd. everything i could have asked for out of a first car. it wasn't particularly fast, only 200hp stock but i turned up the boost a bit, intake, exhaust. these days i'd rather ride a bike. i hate driving for the most part now
So easy a caveman could do it.
It's true. I was having just as much fun with my T300RS as I was with a Simucube 2 Pro. But I can't go four years in the past and tell myself that...
get loadcell pedals
unlock a trip to flatspot city
AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa
it's easy but you don't want to do it for a living
Bro could be making $100,000/year driving trucks irl but chooses to do this gay shit instead lmao
What if he doesn't want to become fat and retarded living off truck stop food and pissing in a bottle?
I hate cars bro in real life
What a fucking money pit
But I like road trips, I hope I can get back home to my country so I can do some long drives again across the states. So much fun
But sim racing is a different story
But why would you sim going so slow??? Makes no sense
It's like simulating taking a walk
Because it's relaxing and fun. You don't need to spend all of your time throwing LMPs around the Nurburgring to have fun with a simulator.
It's like simulating taking a walk
Why do you think Death Stranding was so popular? Have you been on a walk without your phone IRL?
But I like road trips
when i was younger i went out of state every single weekend to hang out with my friend. not a far trip, 300 miles or so. and besides that i drove all fuckin around. we went to the beach in january (winter) for no reason but to go for a drive. i used to love it.
a sim setup though i'd love to mess with, but i'm not into enough to have one of these crazy setups. they look sweet and if you have the money/enjoy it, go for it
I am a huge walker I love walking and often leave the phone at home, akshually
I guess everyone beez different n sheit
we can go even further
walking sucks ass. go down to salvation army and find a bike that at least fits you. riding is awesome and bikes are a fun hobby you don't need anything expensive for (you'll need a pump and some basic tools). a $10 bike from 1970 will get you around in style
Based. I drove all over in high school and college, we used to take what they call blunt rides, which is when you drive around and smoke weed rolled in cigar paper that you get by emptying a cheap cigar like a dutchmaster. I also have 2 or 3 almost cross country trips under my belt from New Jersey, west, and back. I wouldn't have a crazy one just need a wheel, a seat, and I guess the minimum is three monitors for that wide view
Wow
I'm sure that keeping your right hand on the lever 100% of the time is a minor infraction over there too. Git gud noob
All that money and still can't take a left without going over the shoulder line.
Stay practicing boyo
I already did, it's boring.
Damn I didn't understand some of the posts here because I thought this was all part of the game. Really immersive
we used to take what they call blunt rides
kek we called them 'mountain rides' cause we'd drive specifically around the mountain where theres never any cops. literally the same thing.
i fucking hate jersey but i've driven there a few times. my trips were up and down the east cost, usually maryland or connecticut
so i ride a lot now that i don't go far every weekend, i enjoy it more. audiobook from my phone playing, enjoy the sun. its very relaxing and i recommend it
With chyna getting better with Moza and Simsonn getting a decent rig is getting a lot more affordable.
What was once a 5k commitment for a "budget" investment, you can get now for under 2k
dios mio...
fun fact, you can actually get paid to do what, and you don't even need to have a bored ogre next to you!
Just drive a real truck, retard.
I play driving games to drive like a total psychopath
I do it with the same 20 year old 240 degree wheel with no clutch or shifter that I've been using since my dad bought it for me to play need for speed hot pursuit though
Anyone can learn it, but it's a grueling job that pays at most moderately for the absurd number of hours worked.
Just drive a real truck
Oh yeah, just drop 500k on a truck and trailer to emulate the experience on real roads, bro
Not all people are sillicon valley programmers.
I'm a euro, and I want an american to let me know what the main difference between dog and pug trucks are. I have rarely seen american trucks.
what a retarded comment
dog and pug trucks
Who got that flight sim setup webm
You should check out radio garden if you a looking for trucking sim immersion. Really easy to stream stations by location.
tfw no Anon Babble caravan
you can get your license and work retard, so you drive a truck, i understand the flight simulator sim setup retards(microsoft flying simulator), to fly a plane you need 6 figures for the license and an IQ over 95
are you really so averse as to work for a company who HAS said trucks?
nobody in their right mind will hire an independent trucker unless they have literally nothing left
post that
dude what the fuck
flight sim controller comic
Euro
Disgusting
tried finding it, only found this
Since we're talking about sim setups, here's an old one. I have one of these, I love it.
dog trucks are easier to maintain yourself, since you don't have to tip the entire cab to get to the engine. And since many truckers in america are selfemployed and drive really long stretches this is preferred, they can more easily do repairs and maintenance while on the road. also dog trucks are simpler in design compared to pug trucks, so less stuff that can break down.
but in general pug trucks are superior in every single way. american trucks are 20 years behind at least when it comes to tech.
also, when american trucks are measured, it's only the load they carry. euro trucks measure everything including the cab and engine.
trucking strikes me as a pretty difficult job all things said
it's like how i also don't think i would make it as a formula 1 driver
Huh.
Thank you for explaining.
I wonder if I should try getting a green card and work in the US, then. Been trucking for about 10 years now.
And that STILL isn't enough buttons to map everything on DCS.
America is much larger and has longer stretches of highway where aerodynamics can do a lot for fuel economy.
also it looks cool
god i hope someone can get a recompilation or port of steel battalion working on PC. being able to play multiplayer again would be awesome (plus having a better draw distance than the xbox original)
Europe loses again kek
god i hope someone can get a recompilation or port of steel battalion working on PC
there's a guy doing a 1:1 recreation in Godot for the multiplayer sequel, Line of Contact
sadly it's in a Dicksword, but they play Campaign and Free Mission matches every weekend and will help in getting a controller and xbox in order to play with them
sitting and driving for 10 hours on a straight road while watching tiktok
yeah sounds like a real pain. I mean, making sure your pissjugs hit people's lawns isn't something you can pick up in a week.
I bought a wheel but just ended up using a controller anyway because I don't have the room to have the wheel set up all the time and it's a pain in the ass to plug it all in and clamp it, and I don't feel like spending even more on a stand to permanently put it on, which will then take up even more room when stored.
are you guys too retarded to get a simple joke?
Just drive a real car.
What joke did I miss
I know retards who do it and engineers who also do it.
Some people can't drive a truck and back though
Truck on the right is way less comfortable to drive long distance/for long amounts of time. Gigantic wraparound windshield means you're literally getting cooked 24/7 by a magnifying glass when it's sunny so now you need 24/7 AC. No cab in the back means you exclusively get to sleep in hotels, have no storage for your shit, etc. The truck on the left basically has a tiny van/rv design in the front so if you need to you can pull off and sleep in an actual bed, use a computer on a table, watch TV, maybe even like a microwave for food/fixed kettle for coffee/tea.
The left is a 200000$ truck and the right is like 60000. The left is cozier if you ignore the fact that truck driving is one of the most boring and stressful jobs in the world as you basically have 0 time for yourself and are expected to work exorbitant hours to deliver things on time and you have virtually 0 downtime aside from sleeping, so much so that often couples work in "shifts" while living in the truck.
the silly notion of having to buy a truck and trailer to play "eurotrucksimulator in america tm" on real streets even though he can do so in his man cave already
I still have my controller and technically people reverse engineered the XID for it so if you really wanted to you could build yourself one
sadly it's in a Dicksword, but they play Campaign and Free Mission matches every weekend and will help in getting a controller and xbox in order to play with them
doomed to die from gay drama, mark my words but lets hope im wrong
ATS adding enough states for route 66
now working on a road trip mode for taking classic cars around america
Are we finally going to have the ultimate driving (not racing) game bros?
doomed to die from gay drama, mark my words but lets hope im wrong
the SBO server started in the xLink Kai and forum days, most of the dudes are like 30-40 years old at this point lmao
recently, like almost a year ago at this point, we got Insignia (an xbox live replacement for the OGX) working for LoC and have been playing that consistently every weekend, i just haven't played much because >euro and the event timer is 1AM for me
as for the controller, there's one guy making replacement parts and people have built fully scratch-built versions of the SB controller, and the guy who's making the replacement parts is researching on how to make a full recreation, because these things are getting older and older. Harcroft's latest project was being able to adapt T3PMs into SB pedals.
i've been lowballing people on facebook marketplace. All I want is a decent quality wheel with clutch pedals for 150. everyone is selling theirs for 250 and that's overpriced as shit. I only wanna play the long drive.
I've played enough Tribes to know about projectile velocity inheritance, I'll be fine.
ERM YEAH LEMME JUST PLAY A GAME THAT'S EXACTLY LIKE LE REAL LE LIFE! GOSH I LOVE VIDEOGAMES!
The reason left is the standard in America is that aerodynamics are king when you're regularly driving straight sections of highway that are longer than the breadth of most european countries
why not just get a VR headset?
as a burger, i don't know if it's against the law but i was always taught to not do it because it will massacre your transmission's synchros
i never learned how to ride a bike and it's too late for me to learn
it will massacre your transmission's synchros
what, why?
assuming you are being genuine, learning to ride as an adult can be challenging. your best bet is to talk to a friend who already rides a bike, practice on theirs. it wont take long for you to feel in in you, how the bike is part of you
it can get way more intense if you want it to, but just put on a helmet and try it firstly
spend all day sitting indoors being a lonely NEET
spend all day sitting indoors (a vehicle cabin) being a lonely NEET (mobile) and getting paid for it
it's the perfect job for autists that hate social interaction. You can sit around listening to podcasts all day, and then lay up gaming at night. no rent or real bills to pay.
yeah i'm being genuine, not shitposting
i could ride a bike in a straight line as a kid and my parents pretty much went "okay, check that off the childhood accomplishments list" and then i never touched one again i picked up a skateboard instead and now as a grown-ass adult who has no friends period nevermind ones who ride a bike, i already know TOO MUCH and over-think stuff like countersteering and end up just flinging myself off the bike
Now, imagine that but with a game that's actually fun
assuming you mean a pedal bike, it's actually not hard if you get one that relatively fits you and you have someone hold you/ teach you. if nothing else, go to a grassy knoll somewhere with a 10$ bike and try and learn
better ride, better high speed stability (trucks aren't speed-governed in the US), better aerodynamics, easier to maintain.
cabovers only exist because of length restrictions.
All that to drive a truck in traffic.
At least drive a race car or something
Old American cabovers are neat and iconic as hell and I miss seeing them.
old youro trucks look like new merican trucks
old merican trucks look like new youro trucks
driving a real truck is a fucking nightmare, Everyone in my family does them and they tell me to stay away
shit hours
shit pay ESPECIALLY if you're forced to drive inner city which is a horrid for trucks
training alone is expensive as fuck and is autistic about specifics
one of the biggest things with bikes you'll find is size. its nearly never correct. see the area highlighted, thats what to look for. the further these 2 points are apart, the taller the person is supposed to fit. picrel would be a 6"2+ chad, but notice the spacing
if you want to learn more as riding as an adult on a $10 bike, i recommend Anon Babble and the bike threads. not all of us are nazi spandex loving cyclists
do they make adult bikes for manlets or will i have to get a kid's bike
sizing is a huge thing. but there is room for adjustment, handlebars, seats. but you should gwt the frame size right from the get-go
the average male French road racer is like 5'3.
i don't understand why this shit is so addicting
where do i get these mirrors?
You shouldn't rest your hand on the gearshift, as the engine vibrates you are putting strain on the gearbox bearings.
some of the trucks have them as a stock option, otherwise it's an upgrade (in ETS2 anyway, don't have ATS)
unless you mean "where can I get camera-mirrors IRL" in which case I'm pretty sure they're not quite legal on road cars
why not?
this is really just 3 monitors and a button box on a aluminium rig
yeah you could use vr to save space and get more immersion out of it but 3 monitors is a lot more comfortable
Why not just get a VR headset?
i have an actross and an iveco. can't get them for either. or is it some retarded dlc?
FINALLY I CAN SIMULATE WHAT HAVING A JOB IS LIKE!!!!1!!!
who plays these games? I can't imagine someone coming home from work sitting down and clocking in 5 hours on truck simulator, I could maybe understand more of the "exotic" sims like racing and flying planes but I cant understand simulators that are just blue collared jobs. I can only imagine mind broken boomers who miss working would play this seriously
it combines 3 of my favorite things in one game. driving, drinking and drunk driving
MY CAR IS IN THE FRONT YARD
It's something to do while I watch TV
nah not DLC, think it's only on some of the newer trucks
you can use the truck explorer thing in the pause menu to see all upgrades even if you don't have them unlocked
AIN'T NOTHING BUT A HEARTACHE
Isn't watching TV the thing you do while watching TV?
thanks, i'll take a look.
Like serial killing
the first time a quick job gives you a V8 Scania
erm your eyes were off the road for .25 secs so that's a citation and a suspension of license and also you're fired now
let me truck and drink in peace
I wouldn't know about truck simulators, but I play quirky indie shit like the long drive cause I like manuals.
5 hours
lol
most truck driving jobs are a minimum of 10, usually 12
also as expensive and cringe as the above is, its still WAY cheaper than the training to get a cdl and the cost of an actual truck. even more so for flight autists who have the same set up but for a virtual plane.
As i get older and bored with boilerplate gaming i realise that gimmick controllers are the most fun I have with any media. fight sticks, wheels, flight sticks, light guns, give me more stupid shit to buy, I just want anything different.
Another reason is that the EU has limits on what is considered the maximum length is supposed to be. So, in order to cut corners and increase the trailer size, the front part had to be "squished".
It's also the reason why the promotional Coca-Cola truck is not allowed to drive around around christmas because it requires special permits due to his length for every ride lel.
pedal bike
It's called bicycle.
As someone who's driven both flatnose buses and conventional, flatnose vehicles fucking suck. The turn radius is abhorrent because the driver is in front of the wheels and the breaking is harder to maintain, the seating is also almost always less comfortable than conventional as well.
socks
immersion ruined.
indian immigrants who literally cant speak english and drive drunk do it, so i dont see why you cant.
AND I'M SLEEPING WITH MY CLOTHES ON
The industry is absolutely full of jeets now
