It's an embassy, not a nation, congratulating Larian (Belgium company) for a huge success. This came two weeks after Larian announced it had sold something like 2.5m, so the implication was Larian sold an additional 2.5m in about two weeks. Pretty impressive, but Bg3's sales were huge in 2023 (and still are relatively strong).

Just started mine after the final(?) patch.
I'm progressing through the game at... leisure pace. One thing that's slowing my progress a bit is Larian Combat. What's Larian Combat you ask? Well, for starters it's a turn-based combat system, quite common for RPGs, and that's not what it's about. I quite like turn-based combat, both static like FF games, and more tactical like HoMM or X-COM. If I had to describe Larian Combat with a single word - that word would be "surfaces". Flammable oil, fire, electrocuted water and acid, slippery ice, etc. It's nice to have them in combat once in a while, but in Larian games every single bandit or goblin carries around with them a flask of oil they're ever so eager to throw at someone, and a whole quiver of fire arrows. Every battlefield turns into a colorful patchwork of different "surfaces". Sometimes I just want to have a good ol' attack vs AC dice rolling contest with the enemies. While I'm not on fire. I do like how BG3 integrated simple, yet often missing in vidya, actions like jumping and pushing in and out of combat. What I don't like is how every enemy considers it's a better idea to spend their action on a dash to run up to my character who just got out of fire, and then use their bonus action to shove them back in, instead of just attacking with their ranged weapon.

Larian is a private company, dumb dumb. It doesn't have to report sales. The amount of steam sales and popularity all throughout the internet of BG3 shows its massive cultural success. You don't need DLC to be a successful game, not when Larian has said it wants to move on from BG3 and create more kinos in different universes less restricted by D&D rules.

Beastmaster is kind of fun having a pet and a familiar. I like the spider. It gets cocoon that traps even bosses. Also, gloomstalker is great.

Yes Sharpshooter should be first feat on basically anything that uses a bow assuming you have someone in your party that can apply radorb / prone, anything that can give advantage or increase your hit chance etc.

Gloomstalker is the best if someone wants to play an Aragorn type melee Ranger. The reason is

you can start with 14 Dex and you won't even need Alert, because it gets +3 initiative for free. 2+3

Also, if you use something like Phalar Aluve, you can activate Shriek and still attack on your first turn.

Recently tried giant throwbarb, and holy shit is it fun. Highly recommend.

Gloomstalker is good for dipping then fucking off. I like hunter's volley but that's only at lvl 10 and by that point the game IS over.

If you have trouble hitting, it's because you didn't pick Oath of Vengeance and cast Vow of Enmity on yourself. It gives Advantage on all attacks.

Try picking it up again. Joseph Anderson has been streaming it lately, and that's what got me back into it after 2 years. It's insanely fun.

Doesn't 5E let you use your signature attribute for attack rolls or something? I'm not familiar with it. Back in me 3.5E days it was just fucking STR. And if you wanted DEX, you had to waste a feat on finesse.

I started off as Swarmkeeper and ended up reclassing as an Arcane Archer. it's fucked up, but AA is actually just, a better bowman. Fighters being the best class again desu

If you say so. When I play Swarm, I switch off everything except extra damage and set it to auto, so I just get free damage. It's like a better Hunter (Colossus Slayer). Arcane Archer is just fun for the Banishing meme.

The game just doesn't grip me, I find myself enjoying it when I'm in the middle of a dungeon and fighting stuff. But once I get to town or have to talk to my companions my eyes glaze over and I can't find the motivation to go on.

The game has prehaps the worst companions in any RPG game I can think of, they're all completely bland and unlikable. The main hook is you've got a tadpole in your head which should be fatal, but its not for 'mysterious' reasons that I don't care about and none of the plot threads are really that interesting and I don't find myself wanting to discover them. The only reason I force myself to play is because supposedly this game was so good and yeah when I'm in a dungeon the combat can be pretty fun with how much stuff you can pull off and get away with. Using improvised weapons, pushing stuff off cliffs, and using exploding barrels and the like to come up with non-conventional solutions all good stuff and I wish the game focused on that more, because man the fucking writing, characters, NPCs, plot, ect are all fucking terrible.

No. Absolutely not. This is my post () and I can assure you that Swarmkeeper is in a very sad state. On the surface, yeah, I loved the idea of stunning, or blinding, or doing extra piercing damage, but the reality of Swarmkeeper is actually this:

Whatever swarm action you use, will do absolutely nothing. Blind? Enemy saves. Stun? Enemy saves. 1d4 piercing damage? It's fucking 1d4. The free teleport is the only useful action, and even then, it hardly ever comes into play because the RANGE IS STUPIDLY SHORT. It will only come into play if there happens to be a small chasm the enemy could jump, or a high ground that a Fighter could jump to.

Swarmkeeper's bad, man. I didn't want that.

I refuse to play this game unless it's finished finished, definitive edition, no more patches or updates.

It's not 1d4, and it's Lightning, Psychic or Piercing. It's 1d8 at max level, and it does even more if you Mark them first.
