DNS exploits do not work unless you have a way to defeat TLS or create a certificate with Nintendo's private key (won't happen). Switch games were encrypted. In order to emulate them, you had to decrypt them. This required the encryption keys found in each Switch console. If you used one of these emulators, you may know these files such as "prod.keys". These keys were only obtainable by exploiting the console and dumping them. If the console can't be exploited, then the keys will likely never be obtained, the games will likely never be decrypted, and emulation will be impossible.

This is what Yuzu got taken to court over, by the way. People repeat misinfo about donations or something but it had nothing to do with that, it was the decryption that got them. Nintendo argued their software was designed for breaking copy protection, because the emulator had to break encryption on switch games in order to work. Which was correct, so Nintendo had them over a barrel.

That being said, I think the console will be exploited eventually. It's the simple math of cybersecurity, Nintendo has to successfully defend against hacking every single time, but the hackers only have to succeed once. Between countless games and apps and direct physical hardware access, the surface area is far too great. The only true protection against emulation is making a console that's too powerful to emulate, and Nintendo hasn't done that, so it'll happen eventually.

It's hard to say. Low firmware is almost always critical for exploits, but on the other hand there's a reasonable chance this thing flops and comes down in price sharply.

The PS5 is about as locked down as the Switch 2 is, and hacking that is a pain in the ass with very limited support. The Switch 2 will probably go the same way, and with having to wait a year or two for a new exploit for every new release, nobody will bother. That's the real death knell here, the Switch 1 hack was massive and unpatchable, which meant the whole system was wide open. You're not going to get that again, you're going to be waiting half a year to play new releases if you're lucky.

Honestly, it hasn't happened to me yet. I don't care about spoilers, and I've been spoiled in about 90% of games I bought later down the line. Hell, Pizza Tower's final boss was spoiled for me, and I missed out on the reveal of Pizzahead. Still didn't ruin my enjoyment of the game, and infact it's even more fun trying to P-rank every mission. Of course, mods only improve the replayability, so those can't really be spoiled, like Chef's Kiss.

The people that were responsible for it were pursued by Nintendo, that's why it stopped.
