That whole era. Dev studios making games just because they had a good idea for a game. Just think of how many different types of Star Wars games there are from this era. Fighting games, fps, platformers, RPG's, racing games. Just for one fucking universe, and they did it for loads of others too. We should have that today, too.

The first Jak game was much better even though it was just a ripoff of Banjo and Kazooie because sony wanted their own Nintendo game. Then they decided to rip off GTA for the sequel instead. Naughty Dog never had a single shred of originality.

I picked up a Dualshock 2 off of eBay recently, mint condition and an OEM controller. I don't remember them feeling this flimsy. Though I had a similar shock recently too with a legitimate Dualshock 3 which felt even worse than the DS2 does. Sony didn't seem to really figure out how to make controllers that don't feel cheap until the DS4, where they pretty much nailed it.

for like $150 you can buy a PS2, a micro SD card, and a memory card adapter to load homebrew on and play all the games you want. You don't even need a hard drive anymore. MMCE lets you load games straight from the memory card and works flawlessly with like 99% of the PS2 library

You can also get blank DVDs and a USB DVD writer to burn games that you want physical copies of for an extra $30

It's USB 1.1 though, so a lot of FMV heavy games run like dogshit. That's mostly solved with MMCE. IIRC FFX has issues with specific PS2 models, and there are a handful of games that people mention across various forum threads.
