Fallout 4 is very flawed but still pretty decent game. I used to hate it but in recent years I've started to enjoy it. It definitely doesn't deserve to be a full game in the series but as spinoffs like Fallout Tactics it works quite well

Well first of all Shady Sands isn't in LA, in fact it isn't even close to it. So the shows explanation is that Shady Sands being nuked is why the NCR doesn't control the Boneyard anymore. Next, the Boneyard was a major economic hub and was the location of their central bank, so there would be various reason to want to reclaim the entire city of LA. Like the NCR isn't various settlements, it controlled the entire state of California and parts of Oregon and Mexico. It's not some small local confederation it's an actual nation. The show is basically doing the equivalent of Washington DC being nuked leads to NYC being abandoned by the US for some reason, but they don't abandon any other part of the US.

I think something Bethesda Studios is uniquely good at is making factions that aren't simple good or evil. Fallout 4 had three different factions with different ideological stances on technology and the question of artificial intelligence. Rebuilding takes time, the entirety of the boneyard region looks like it clearly got worse and is no longer worth going after for a while, NCR isn't just Shady Sands and Boneyard, it's clear shit happened to everyone as NV itself is in ruins, the dam could likely be lost, the NCR was already having issues in NV. And again, the branch in the show seems disconnected and on a personal vendetta as their leader has a very intimate connection with the vault.

There's too many reasons to leave room for NCR being around in a weakened state. I don't think them being weak is worthless or a semantic. But I don't care much more at this point to continue on. Feel like we're running in circles, especially as someone who is fine either way with the NCR being around or gone.

People go on and on about the writing shit Bethesda pulled but the true biggest mistake Fallout 3 pulled was that it fully commodified Fallout as a brand that has specific things and that's all it is now. Like it's actually crazy to compare it to the original van buren design docs where went out of the way to add in new factions and had old ones take a sideline. A lot of it is ultimately pointless anyway because Fallout is effectively a dead series. The show and 76 expansions will most likely be the only thing in the series for the next two decades. Microsoft seems content with just not giving it to another studio and Bethesda sure as hell aren't finishing Fallout 5 by 2040(and this assumes they even make it Todd has said it might not even happen). The show will effectively be the end of the series legacy.

Franchises are built around recognizable elements, both narrative and visual. Some nostalgia isn't bad as long as they do introduce new ideas.

I think the thing I like the most about the original 2 Fallout games is how unorthodox they are, you dont get a lot of information about the world around you and its fun filling in the blanks for yourself, the games work much better when the player is in the dark much the same way a real Vault dweller would be completely in the dark about the wasteland, but all the new fallout games feel too familiar, and the tone has gotten much lighter

The remake of Fallout 3 is pretty much confirmed sis. Fallout 5 is gonna take a decade at most and nothing is stopping Microsoft from making spin-offs in the meantime.

fallout 4 is fun for just gameplay shit and gunplay/item collecting and general exploration. Also decent companions unlike 3. There's only so many times you can replay F:NV before you need something new. Even if its not nearly as consistently good across the board. Also while this isn't exactly the case for f3/f4, but bad game stories sometimes revert around to being really good because its just really stupid and simultaneously fun. Look at RE8 for example, so many fags tried to talk about the story as a negative of that game but Chris in that game is like the single funniest thing to ever come out of a Resident Evil game.
