Switch 2: "Hold my beer..."

In what context would you be away from a USB power port more than 2 hours?

Bus ride. This is the same argument people used for the deck btw and Anon Babbleedditors said you're a casual if you play for less than 5 hours per session. I just think it's funny how the Switch 2 stagnated in performance, battery life, screen technology, game visuals and innovation but nobody seems to care. 2 hours on the Deck was the end of the world and a deal breaker though.

In what context would you be away from a USB power port more than 2 hours?

International travel. I have a 17 hour flight to Norway soon from central US and a grueling 23 hour return flight on the way back. But I also have 2x 30,000mAh 140W portable batteries that the TSA doesn't give a shit about anymore so should be good to go.

Planes usually have USB ports or outlets tbf but they can also be dogshit. Laptops are unusable on some planes because the output is so low. You're also not going to be playing on a handheld at full battery power 100% of the time which is where my oled deck excels. The idle drain was so bad that my lcd was unusable unless I turned it off and charged it every time.

You live in a time where you can get a huge capacity power bank for cheap. You are also not going to be far away from a power outlet for lengthy periods of time. Battery life is a non-issue

modern busses have have USB charge ports you lying nigger
also in what shithole do you live where you need to ride a bus for more than 30 minutes?

Planes usually have USB ports or outlets tbf but they can also be dogshit

I ain't plugging my shit into those. I've seen devices short on planes because of a surge or some shitty out of spec port or a port that has a small metal shaving inside from some fuckwit kid. Have plenty of fast 80W chargers ready to go when I hit layovers.

Not in America lol.

Anon Babbleeddit: Rural life is based ackshually

also Anon Babbleeddit: you dont live in a pod and eat the bugs? WTF

Also see Same issue exists on those buses

My Switch's battery may be dying. I'm playing in handheld mode, and despite still having 30% left, it's flashing the battery icon and shutting itself off. It can turn on and work just fine for a minute or two before shutting off. It's a launch day Switch and this has never happened before.

176555.png - 384x384, 87K

Battery life doesn't matter anymore, chud.

that asterisk

1 hour battery life for the most demanding games confirmed. Switch 2 only has a 20wh battery, that[s half the size of the LCD Deck and the OLED's is even bigger.

may be

It definitely is. That's the exact same issue I had with my 3ds before it eventually refused to turn on at all.

Exactly why you don't go around playing the Switch outside of home without a fucking power bank. You should at least own one of these for your phone in particular.

So buy the triwing bit off amajew or aliexpress, and a battery replacement from amajew or aliexpress and replace it in the 10 seconds that takes? So easy a halfwit can do it.

2-8 hours is longer than the steamdeck battery in reality though
It runs Cyberpunk in a little more than an hour

I figured as much.
Absolutely. ifixit has a guide and it's super easy. I've done surgery on Joy-Cons three times through them, so it's a solid site. My issue is that is spending $34.99 worth repairing a console I'll likely sunset soon. I have the money for a Switch 2 but not the preorder, and while I was planning on getting it for the holidays, this definitely expedited it. Should I send $34.99 just to repair a console I'll likely not play anymore? Probably, I'm just thinking out loud

slight frown.png - 129x251, 62.86K

Any power banks worth checking out? Mine seemed to have died won't charge

Battery may be swelling
It's what happens to a lot of batteries that are constantly on charge

The switch 2 also won‘t have passthrough charging and charge limits like the deck so the battery will be cooked in no time too

So I shouldn't leave my Switch on the dock, should I?

What do you mean?

Ideally, no

The deck uses those methods to preserve battery health as much as possible. The switch 2 won‘t

There a was a small one I bought off Amazon a few months ago that could hold 20,000mAh and I could easily fit in my pocket with room to spare, but it doesn't look like it's being sold anymore, the INIU Portable Charger seems similar to it though. Ideally you want a power bank than can at least hold 10,000mAh, but not exceed 27,000mAh if you want to take it with you on a flight

I've done a lot of 10 hour flights and used my Switch 1 while plugged in the whole way. Never had a problem.

I figured, but thanks for letting me know.

I still don't understand why a passthrough charge will help the battery
trickle charging will

35 dollars

Wut?

ifixit

Wew lad, you're getting taken for a ride. Don't be a chump. Their guides are cool but everything they sell is 3-10x the actual cost. Insane markup that would make even Jeff Bezos blush. Even through Amajew which is the best site on the internet to overpay on everything a repair kit with the screwdriver is only 16 bucks: amazon.com/HAC-003-Internal-Replacement-Nintendo-NATNO/dp/B07L9WYYGH
And that is just the first result. Go to Aliexpress and you get the whole kit for 7 bucks.

It'll at least have a charge limit

Actually it does. You can set it to stop charging at around 90%

Is BEAUTIFUL VEGAN MESSIAH Eric?

modern US buses are all ruined because of blacks.

I just need the battery, but I'll definitely take you on that offer, brother. Thanks brother!

>Anon Babbleeddit: Rural life is based ackshually

what most people in america consider rural is suburban, just in a non-planned neighborhood
actual rural living is exceedingly rare (about 10% of americans live in it)

Steam Deck barely selling better than an N-Gage. Embarrassing.

Are you mad that you were wrong?
Also you still haven't said why you think charge passthrough is good for a battery

He's a troll trolling a troll.

2 hours of Gameplay

LMAO! It's a SEGA Game Gear!

GG.jpg - 289x175, 7.42K

Is this revevge for me saying vegan all the time?

Just another troll begging for attention

switch 2 also won‘t have passthrough charging

Damn, I like the fact that you can rip the battery out of the deck and run it on USB power when the pouch inevitably swells
Though given the press about switch 2 they probably brick your device if the battery was disconnected because you modified it how dare you ding dong bannu

He's making a joke.

I have never ever ever gotten 8 hours of gameplay on my deck. Even for small games, unless its emulated games in which it gets close i guess. Its not like i was counting.

All i know, is that when im playing my pirated copy of expedition 33, the charger basically borderline has to be permanently plugged in.
2 hours on a device that can be docked is concerning though. Lets hope it moreso reaches the upper limits.

It's revenge for tendies fellating the shit out of sales regardless of quality. Of course Nintendo was going to see that and just abuse and fleece the hell out of them for it.

No I'm pretty sure it's because I say vegan and you guys really really hate that

no, he's just some other NDS-afflicted idiot
he used to avatarfag with Naruto for some reason

VNs will get you to 8.
But yes, Nintendo's estimates are not good for how small their battery is. Just like the deck can easily go under 2 hours for really demanding games, expect the switch 2 to be even worse about it while barely ever reaching that 6 hour limit.

The steam deck is shit
The switch is shit
wii u is goated

I still have the first switch with the shitty battery life and I'm fine with it, when the battery is dying I just dock it and continue playing on the tv or I will do something else. No I'm not insane of using it outside my home and be robbed.
That's exactly what happens when a laptop battery is dead. I have bad news for you anon...

Sure, but I disagree and we'll survive.

Kek you're all about me

Thanks brother

Godspeed anon. I'd shop around, you can definitely get it cheaper even on amazon. Just picked the first result. Good luck Nintenbro. Can't wait for my Switch 2 next week.

I have bad news for you anon...

It's not too bad. I'm getting a replacement thanks to this thread.

You're spamming in like every other thread
The only anon worse than you is the eric schizo

You'll survive.

So 3 hours for high quality Nintendo titles, 2 hours for shitty AAA trash and 6 hours for light casual barely stresses the CPU gaming

I try to avoid the cheapest option on Amazon. Amazon has gotten pretty bad when it comes to quality control, so I try to find the best sellers that I can.

Can't wait for my Switch 2 next week.

Hope you enjoy it, brother. You're the cream of the crop.

Nintendo titles

light casual barely stresses the CPU gaming

I don't see the difference between these two...

I miss him so much bro. RIP Randy. I have the picture of us on my desk right under my monitor. Was a real treat meeting you at a random ass used car dealership in Memphis on the way to watch Monday Night Nitro live at the Pyramid back in the day. You were the best. Fuck Hulk Hogan.

carl_had_fun.jpg - 1112x810, 579.1K

Bet it barely lasts 1 hour

the switch lite barely lasts 2 hours on indies.

Thank God. The paw print looks really lame also 20000

The difference is that the Switch 2 will do two hours minimum while running something like cyberpunk, meanwhile anything similar on the steamdeck and you're lucky if you get one hour out of it

The difference is that the Switch 2 will do two hours minimum while running something like cyberpunk

Proof? It's hilarious how much trust you have in Nintendo when they constantly lie to and screw you. Even by their own admittance they say it's a rough estimate and the decks have far bigger batteries than the switch 2 does.

Honestly, I was playing Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip and my Deck just barely passed 2 hours. It needs an upgrade.

Can charge from the top USB C port

And just like that battery life is a non-issue for me, the only time I ever had the battery dying on me was when playing tabletop on the bed where I couldn't leave it plugged without the cable being in some weird position

Proof?

I have a Switch so I know what to expect, meanwhile no one has ever defended the steam deck's battery life because it's terrible

Yeah, i don't know where steam got their estimates, the deck barely last 2 hours at most

And yet here you are defending a battery that's far worse because you have a sycophantic, parasitic relationship with the corporation putting out that worse battery.

Proof?

I've posted yt clips many time on the steamdecks battery life not lasting very long

The one in a weird relationship with Nintendo is you who can't stop ever seething about them

What does that have to do with the switch 2 having an even worse battery life and less than half the battery size?

I want them to stop being shitheads. You want them to keep fucking you. We are indeed not the same.

Having a worse battery doesn't mean a worse battery life anon
A GBA can run for near 20 hours on 2xAA
The fact is we won't know until we get the system
We already know that the Steamdeck lasts under two hours playing some games

A gba is a thousand times weaker. The switch 2 isn't. You can't have it both ways anon.

No shit anon, but we also know the clock speed is a lot lower than steamdeck and uses DLSS to make it look better

No shit anon, then don't bring it up as if it's an argument. 1100 vs 1600 isn't going to offset the fact it has less than half the battery size.

Having a worse battery doesn't mean a worse battery life anon

And yet Nintendo's own spec sheet clearly says it does. There isn't a chance in hell, even giving them a massive benefit of the doubt that it will never drop below 2 hours, that the switch's battery life beats the deck oled and yet people shat all over the deck's battery life while are trying to say it doesn't matter here.

What part of "We know steamdecks actual battery life through testing" don't you understand

The Switch 2 charging rate is 60W. If that battery bank can't do 60W output on a single port it is useless anon.

who the fuck even uses the switch in handheld mode? shit sucks
who wants to play a 60 game on a shitty little fucking screen

1600

And that's max, you can manually set it down to 400.

zoomer opinion

1.5-8 hours lcd, 2.5-12 hours oled, yes. Switch 2 could easily be 1-6.5.

That's the whole point? When you blow up Switch games on a TV they look like ass. Will only play Switch 2 in handheld mode. Maybe for Metroid I'll do my OLED monitor in mouse mode tho, if it looks good.

That's the whole point?

lolno

Portability is literally the only reason Ninntedo's hardware is still alive.

It's only a week away and Cyberpunk is a launch game so I guess we'll see

Why would you buy a console that is powered by a shitty ancient ARM CPU and a shitty ancient Nvidia Car GPU to play on a fucking TV? LMFAO weird dude. The only reason to tolerate such underpowered hardware is because you can take it with you, play it laying down in bed, hanging from your legs, in the car, train, plane, at work and on the shitter.

implying anyone is going to be using this outside their house or on a plane

ok zoomzoom

I was more thinking about my current Switch 1 and phone than the Switch 2, though future proofing is always good. That said, I'm getting

deckbeards STILL begging people to move to their failed cult with only 4 million sales

sad

liking Windows 10/11

Windows 10 is the only Windows I've ever used which has never BSOD

Nobody wants you anywhere, stay in the shitpit.

everyone enjoying good computers is using it
you only hate it because your toaster is struggling

I‘m not sure i want to see a 30fps blurry mess on a big screen

no it isn't, the oled deck broadly fixed that issue and is 3-12hours. the switch 2 looks to have slightly worse battery than the OG deck.

no it isn't

We literally have video examples everywhere on youtube of it's battery life anon
The official numbers are BS

they're actually those who defend and deem WINDOWS 11 as a badge of honor

P7abSyS.jpg - 651x498, 65.47K

Based

Nah, W11 is trash. Your epin computer isn't going to fix the downgraded, trash UI and it's still slow as balls anyway.

(me)

they're

I'm running worse than Windows 11

I've seen videos hitting 12 and I have way more trust in valve than I do nintendo for anything. The oled gave me 100% better battery life in many cases when valve said it would be only a 30-50% improvement.

inb4 you're just a steamie

I shit on valve whenever they do anything I don't like, the deck is just damn good system.

running games at ps2 graphics consumes less battery

wow, shocking discovery. Call CNN

I have an OG deck so im very familiar with the real figures. On a game like cyberpunk the OG deck wont reach 2 hours, it'll run out at around 1.5 hours, ps2 emulation gives you around 6 hours and small indie games go above 8. The switch 2s advertised numbers are just as bullshit, cyberpunk is barely going to reach 1 hour and the rest will be significantly shorter as indicated by an advertised max of 6 hours instead of 8 or 13 on the deck.

if you add onto this the switch has a less efficient, older chip node, higher res, larger screen with probably slightly lower capacity you have the formula for a device with an awful battery life.

emulation

kys thief

fuck off falseflagger, people are talking

he thinks it's worth playing 6 hours of a game running at 21fps

Laughs at you in rog ally. Live fast die fast.

Look into changing your switch battery. I did it and it's annoying because they glued the battery in and you have to find a way to remove it, but it was worth it.

Get a rog, snoy.

I'm on it. Do you need to glue the new glue in?

Laughs at you in rog ally. Live fast die fast.

based rog ally chad. it can do cyberpunk in 60FPS

I'm in my 30s with a wife and kid. I don't have fucking time to sit down on the sofa and play Nintendo like you zoomers. If I'm at home and gaming it is on my baller PC playing something nice with my wife in co-op or PVP. Or she's playing Total Warhammer III while I play Clare Obscur. It isn't wagglin' muh wee. Nintendo is for the small gaps of free time I have throughout the day, wherever I am. Waiting in line at the pharmacy, at work, or flying.

Nah senpai, get something useful like: amazon.com/dp/B0BJQ7F16T
Enough for powering a laptop, charging multiple devices and charging the switch at max charge speed 6 times over. These things are amazing. Have two. Essential for flying.
